I have been sending in their rebate offers for over 3 years now, including their occasional 11% Off Everything in the Store "MENARD" Rebates. AFTER OVER 3 YEARS of sending their rebate froms in along with my receipts and following the instructions exactly as they are given, I STILL HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ONE REBATE IN THE MAIL. NOT ONE SINGLE REBATE! Furthermore, anytime I ask one of the "Associates" where I can find an item, they just point and tell you basically "it's over there in whatever isle number". In almost any store I have ever shopped in and asked where I could find something, the Associates would walk with the customer to the item. The Associates at this store may be knowlegable about where to find an item, but they are SUPER LAZY and couldn't care less about Customer Satisfaction at the Plainfield, Illinois Menard's. read more

I am not sure who was worse, the front end "Manager" Maria, or the Asst Store "Manager" Jason. Both lack any sort of customer service skills. Rude and deceptive. We shop at this store almost daily, and to be treated with such disrespect is unacceptable!!! The last shopping experience we had there pretty much ranks as the worst I have had at any store...ever! I would never shop here again. I ordered a custum built door at the end of December 2012 and when I recieved it it was all wrong. Built poorly and parts not in the color that I had paid for. It was a MasterCraft door that is made by a division of Menards but no one will admit that in the store. Customer service is poor at best, you can not talk to anyone just have to email in and the response time is horrible. Menards guest services responds with you need to go to the manufacturer and the manufacturer even though it is owened by Menards says you need to go back to the store that then sends you to guest services again. I wouldn't custom order anything here or even shop here again. read more

Just went to this Menards today. I have been there many times before but today was an awful experience. Sue at the customer service return desk was pretty awful to deal with. She was rude and not helpful. The woman behind me in line also commented on her rudeness. Maybe she was unhappy to be working the day after Christmas. I don't know, but I can't believe Menards would hire someone with such poor customer service skills. read more

I love this store BUT the paint department has a old fat lady with a really crappy attitude and she has no freaking idea what she's doing ! Worst Menards I have ever had the displeasure to visit! I needed to get a 10 ft board cut in half so I stopped an employee in the lumber area to ask about getting 1 piece of lumber cut in half and he pointed into the distance and said "yeah take it to the warehouse and they can cut it" and he walked away. So I walked to the end of the store looking for the warehouse. I happened upon another employee on a forklift in an open area that had a sign that said warehouse. He said "no. Take it all the way down there (pointing into the distance) and you will see the saw" I ended up on the other end of the store in paint where I was informed that the saw was in the outside lumber area. So I walked all the way back to where I started and went outside and walked all over the outside lumber yard and guess what??? It was a ghost town. No employees. I came inside and asked "Customer Service" for help and 1) they have no clue what customer service means and 2) they were no help at all. read more

We bought our son a "Lawn Devil" Lawn Mover on Monday, May 19th around 4:00 p.m. They had one left in a box, but there was oil all over it and was returned from a customer. They had a display left. We know it was not used, it was wrapped up with plastic around the handle. We told the salesman that it was a gift and he said if there was anything wrong the mower has a 2 year warranty. We were fine with taking a floor model. It was not used. We did not get a discount for it, but we were fine with that. Brought it over to our sons house around 5:00 p.m.. He got up the next day and tried to cut the grass. The wheels seemed to be going in a outward direction which wound not allow the mover to go straight. It viered off to the left. He also said when you lifted up the front it was making a rubbing sound. We told him to stop using it and we would pick it up and bring it back to Menards seeing that we bought it as a gift and it was on our Menards Charge Card. It was probably less then 24 hours that we had the mower and when we brought it back to the Plainfield store their Customer Service said they cannot take back mowers that have oil and gas in them. They are not allowed to take them back once they have been used. I explained to the front desk person that "How do you know it does not work right if you do not put oil and gas into it". She gave me a little sheet of paperwork with a repair shop they use in Lockport and said we have to bring it to them to get fixed. I asked if there was anything closer and she said "This is the one we use." We ran home and googled directions from Plainfield to Lockport. We had 50 minutes to get there before they closed. We were stuck in traffic, but made it 2 minutes before they closed. When we talked to the repair shop they said they were 3 to 4 weeks behind on repairs and needed a $65.00 payment. I told him why do we pay for something under waranty. He stated that is the policy and it is up to us the get the $65.00 back from Menards - ending the sentence with GOOD LUCK. My husband and I turned around and left. I called the Plainfield Menards the next day, talked to THE STORE MANAGER and they will do NOTHING . The Store Manager also said he's never heard of the $65.00 charge or such a long wait. They gave me the name of another repair shop in Naperville to try. I explained that we spend major money at their store and this will change my shopping with them. I also called the Menards Charge Card Company and tried to dispute the charge. They said they cannot do anything either seeing that it's Menards policy. We will NEVER buy another appliance or any sort of lawn equipment from them again. Always loved Menards. This has left a bad taste for ever doing business with them again. How embarrasing this gift giving experience was. Will never ever give a gift from them. Poor Poor Customer Service. They sell sub-standard merchandise and then they don't honor their so called 2 year warranty. Customer Be Ware. This was not a $20.00 tool. It was a big cost item. read more
