Guy literally tried not to let me in and refused to help as he was yelling at everyone that worked there to lock the doors and turn off the lights. What happened to the small helpful hardware store. Always greeted when we come in. Staff always ask what they can help us with. They sell key fobs and program them. Recently ordered a key fob.. cheaper then the dealer... Joe did the setup. 5 minutes later key fob failed. He was on the phone with the manufacturer right away! New one to be sent out. But Joe calls me 5 minutes later and says another one was located!!! Joe programmed the new one and made sure it was working. Even found out the first one was defective from the manufacturer. Slogan for this location should be the unfriendly hardware staff. I seldom leave reviews. I will leave a review for a business or person that exceeds expectations and for places that are the direct opposite. Unfortunately this is the worst case. This location has a cashier C*****a who has always been borderline rude and generally unhelpful. I have been shopping here for many years and have tried to ignore her attitude. After one incident where she had a melodramatic outburst about my request about a discount, I told her manager that "She started holding her hands across her heart and loudly saying that I was putting a sword through her. This was repeated several times while I tried to stammer apologies. The customers behind me noticed and seemed to move away". Embarrassing! I went in today to buy paint and was greeted with a monotone welcome to Ace. I won't even get into the attitude that the paint guy displayed when I questioned whether I had the wrong paint - it had a different number and a dent in the can. I have the Ace app and had a $5 off 20. When I was checking out she asked for my Ace number, I showed her the app. When I asked about the discount she snapped about that was your number only. I again showed here the discount code and she rudely demanded I put the phone down and then scanned it. I live in SW Naperville. If it weren't so far I would go to the Ace on 75th by the Driver's License station. They have always been friendly, polite and helpful read more

They are Kings of Customer Service! They helped find the right tools for the right job. Even better they are close by and personal. Don't go to those Big Box stores and waste time getting lost in the maze, come out frustrated and arrive home with the wrong tool. Visit Ace Hardware and get great service! read more

Ace Hardware in Naperville = the rich man's Menards. I visit this Ace for a few reasons: 1. My husband works here part-time, and he's much better eye-candy than the young'uns at Menards. 2. I can take paint samples whenever I damn well please and however many I damn well please. 3. They cut glass to custom shapes and sizes, which is something Menards doesn't do. 4. Other employees are also helpful. I avoid this Ace for a few reasons: 1. Prices for ordinary items like paint are much higher than competitors, even with an employee discount. 2. The manager is young and on his high-horse. I barely walk in the door and he's breathing down my neck, asking if I need help. He's kind of a jerk to his employees as well. read more

Went to the Ace on 75th street in Naperville to get duplicate keys made. They had trouble making a duplicate that would work. 3 duplicates by 3 different people. The fourth time I drove back I asked to speak with a manager and he suggested I try another business (not an Ace Hardware) Offered me a refund, which I took. Very disappointed, I drove to the Ace on 111th and 59. I was greeted by a salesman (who by the way apologized for the other store, I did not expect that!) I explained my situation, he escorted me to the key counter. Duplicate keys made, got home, they worked! Definitely recommend this Ace Hardware store!!! read more

Unlike the staff at many big box hardware stores, the staff at Ace remains knowledgeable about the areas they work in. If they are unsure of an answer, they work to get an employee with more experience to help answer questions. Went in with some electrical questions and they worked to help guide me through the installation without trying to upsell me on unnecessary items. read more

The Buikema's Ace Hardware on Ace Lane in Naperville is our go to hardware store. We are always greeted at the door. When cashier Cynthia is working, she makes us feel very welcome. Cynthia is a gem. This Ace is very well organized, neat and clean. And we can always get help if we need it. They have a nice selection of products. Highly recommend. read more

I have lived in the area for over 15 years and have always shopped at this Ace. I had a $10 off coupon from shopping at their store and spending money at that location. I tried to use it today on fertilizer and they refused it because there was a manufacture rebate for $2 on that item. In my opinion, this is wrong. I asked them to take off the rebate that I would rather us my $10, however, I was told no. Got home, called the manager Rob and he clearly didn't care. I have never run into an employee at this store who was anything less than pleasant and helpful. I've never had any trouble finding someone to help or answer questions at this store. Cannot make those statements about most stores, and certainly not about the big, box stores. My recent experience, buying a Weber grill, could not have been better. From my first question, to arranging for their "no interest" financing, through the actual delivery, they exceeded my expectations. Every time I come in here I have to watch the check out. At least 1 item wrings up the wrong price and one time there was a $19 difference. The cashier said it was $30 at register but there were 9 of them on the shelf listed at $9.99. The manager said the size was bigger of the item but the description on shelf tag said it was correct. First of all, let me say that I have to pass 4 big box hardware stores and 3 other Aces to travel to this Ace. I had been shopping here for years and after today, I will NEVER shop here again after being treated so poorly. Long story short, I purchased a garbage disposal from this store after explaining an issue to an employee. Yesterday i finally was able to coordinate my schedule with a plumbers and low and behold I did not need a garbage disposal after all. I called the store and spoke to the manager named Ron., I explained to him that I had purchased this garbage disposal on 2/23/22 and a plumber told me I didn't need it and asked if i could return it in spite of it being over 30 days. He said no, if it were a day or two after certainly, but its an entire 6 days over! I asked him to repeat it secondary to being sure I misunderstood. He repeated it and said all they would do is give me a store credit. i said so if I called you 4 days ago, I could have returned it with no issue? He confirmed but said since it was 6 days after he couldn't help me. When i arrived at the store, the clerk called for a manager. Jenn, the assistant manager came to the desk. As I am speaking to her, she says just a moment please, starts talking into the mic on her shirt. Cuts me off and says well that's it, that's all you can do. I can NOT believe that the management in this store is so extremely rude! I will NEVER shop here again!!! it's one thing to say the rule is 30 days, and an entirely nother to say , well 2 days after is okay, but you're an entire 6 days after.
