You can call them any time if you need help. They are free. When I came here I bought everything I need. I also bought 3 pieces of plant in a vase. It was so cute and its perfect to put in our tables on dining area and in our living room. The price of it was depends on the plant you purchased. Some staff help me to put it in my car. This location is one of the worst I ever seen. And that's hard to say, 'cause the one in Cicero has more common sense and treats people with dignity and respect the Naperville location. I spent over $1500 was waiting for someone to help load waited 25 minutes, no one showed up. So I started loading right in the front where everybody could see me with my pregnant wife and no one came out to help. After I was finished loading my truck that took about 45 minutes, I went inside and I told the manager and he said that it's my fault that I did not wait. The respect to me and my wife was horrible. Also I understand with the holidays that they do get extra security for people stealing. We were followed around that store. The whole time trying to shop to redo our bathroom. After buying all the material and cashing out at the register, I would think that they would be respectful. And try to help after this but they did not. I can't even put in words how disrespected and sad How companies and people act to each other? Buyer beware!! They'll take your money but won't back/warranty products they sell!! I purchased a loves from Montgomery Illinois store, Comfort Eze Alpina mid April and now the cushion stitching is coming undone. I called multiple times and spoke to a guy in that department of the store, explained everything and was told yes I can return but since the 90 days had past it would be a store credit, fine because I shop Menard's a lot. I rented a truck (from Menards) to move it and when I got there I was told no I can't return instore, I need to contact the manufacturer. i looked up the manufacturer and their website says 90day for repair and 1yr for parts sooo basically I'm screwed!! read more

I bought a light fixture which was shipped to the store. I was under the impression I had one year for a refund. When I went to re-order my light because I was sick and couldn't pick it up, I was passed around to 5 different people, all of whom were super rude and had no idea what was going on. I was offered a very dirty and damaged floor model. One arm was crooked and the shade was ripped and black with stains. When I didn't take it, I asked I asked to order a new one. Now the light is discontinued. I was told I could only get store credit and would need to pay a 25 percent restocking fee. So I lost the total cost of the light, plus 25 percent restocking (they sold my light). Menards is garbage and the customer service is horrible. read more

Today I went to the menards with a mission to hrt what I needed. There was an employee in cabinets and hardware that helped me greatly, yet of the list I had, I ended only able to find half of it. There were another employee who pointed me in the way of a product and walked away amidst my visible confusion. The kicker was that the cashier did not provide me a reciept at all. You think a store at runs a 11% off rebate more than half the year would by instinct, provide a reciept, or at least ask if you need one. While the cashier was checking me out, I even ran over to the rebate counter to pick up what I needed. Again, indicating I will NEED a reciept for a rebate. It may be partially my fault, as I was in a hurry after wasting so much time looking for items that were alleged to be in store, that I did not verify a reciept was placed in my bag; but, it should be ordinary to guve a reciept after paying for something. This was actually the only store we visited on Black Friday ha! We really wanted this blanket that was in one of their ads so we thought why not? It can't be too crazy at Menard's, right? It was actually super super busy and we were not expecting that. There was however various employees walking around to make sure that everyone was finding what they were looking for. They had bins with big signs saying Black Friday deal separating them from normal items and was very organized. We got there around noon and I guess the blankets were gone early in the morning that day they were the awesome weighted ones and 50% off. Bummer! We kept peeking around and we ended up in the dog toy / dog food aisle and so happy we found it. We got our pittie a rubber chicken that squeaks and it is still alive today which is amazing because she usually rips up toys the day we get them and give them to her! We also got this giant rawhide bone which was almost 2 feet at about $4 CRAZY cheap and holding up well too! We didn't find the blanket we wanted but we may have find our new spot for toys and treats for our Lucky girl! read more

It's always a fun trip to Menards. They have everything you can think of for Home Improvement, outdoor lawn and garden projects. It is a very huge store but it is easily organized by departments. All of the staff there have been helpful and always willing to answer questions we might have had regarding purchasing the items at the store. Not only does Menards have everything I need, it's cheaper than Home Depot.. Even though Home Depot is closer to my home, I now bypass Home Depot and go directly to Menards. We went here in search of a power strip today. Here's how this adventure went: - First, if you're a customer, don't wear a bright blue top when you come shopping here, because people will mistake you for staff (as my dad did some poor unsuspecting lady) - (This is written in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic) They had lots of cleaning supplies and we even scored some paper napkins. - The employee we caught and asked about the location of power strips was either new or just not on the ball. First, he didn't seem to know what that ("power strip") meant. Then when we clarified, he basically waved us off toward the lamps but said, "I couldn't even tell you over there where you could find them". :/ How about something like, "I'm not sure but let's go look together," or confer with another coworker? There weren't many customers in the shop today. - We found the power strips on our own, selected one that would work, and the lady who checked us out was cheery and helpful. Overall, we came away with what we needed, but customer service needed a bit of tweaking. read more

Dealing with Menards at the of corporate level is very frustrating. I filed a warranty claim for pro-rib steel. I tried to find out what was happening with my claim after several weeks. I tried to call but you can't get a live person to talk to. Everything has to be written,faxed or email. Why is it so hard to speak to a real person. Someone answer the phone and talk. I don't want to talk to machines, I want a person to talk to. I not a happy customer I have spent 10s of thousands of dollars there. I expect more from a company like this. read more

Good prices, terrible service. Needed MDF for under window casing. 1x2 MDF isn't by casing, it's by lumber. Waited for 15 minutes to ask someone. 2 old guys helping one pretty lady for 10 minutes. I can let that go. Then one disappears, and the other picks up the phone. Can't answer a 30 second question? Really? Found what I need myself, yeah sure, by lumber. Needed 8 pieces, 3 on the shelf. Anyone to ask? Turn to the staff, they duck their heads and walk in the opposite direction. I felt invisible. Cashiers are a bit slow, but genuinely courteous. But floor staff seem to work very hard to avoid eye contact with patrons. Forget it if you have a quick question or are in a hurry. They are on Menards time. Also, restocking is in their own time. Got guys on site and you need materials- go to Home Depot or Lowe's. It is a nice store to wander around if you are retired. This store sells everything! And for a limited time (this week only, but they do this every so often), you get 11% mail-in rebate on everything you buy. They carry not only home improvement stuff, but also household goods, clothing, pet supplies, car accessories, and food. It's weird to see Spam while I make my way through this store. Everything is well organized and clean. Menards have really great deals every week (like 3 florescent light bulbs for $0.49). They also cut keys if you need a spare. This is the closest Menards to me and seems to be one of the better laid out locations. It is huge and sometimes a little strange how the departments are laid out. I still prefer Home Depot and Lowe's before here but there's certain products you find here that the other two don't carry. Their lumber department is usually better and only wish they had an outdoor yard like my old favorite location. I have been very happy with the hardwood flooring I purchased here and ther pricing on sale items are incredible. Their return department is unmatched, as you can actually look up on their kiosk old receipts you can't find. This insures a credit to you card, not an in-store credit. They seem to fall short on staff availability and who are trained in the department. That's were I think Home Depot tends to shine. It's strange the multitude of items here. I have been a loyal customer and Menards promoter for many years; while I understand the need for stores to monitor how many people are in their building during pandemic conditions, the fact that your garden center door said open but was locked is super inconvenient. I saw an advertisement for one thing that I wanted in the garden center. I made a point to come on the holiday weekend, from a dressy event so I wouldn't miss the sale, could quickly come in, make a purchase and leave. I realize I should not have worn anything but walking shoes to come to your store but I had not planned to have to walk all the way from the far end of the building to the complete opposite end and then halfway back again, just to get back out to my car when I saw that you did not have what was advertised. It seems to me that when you are not anywhere near full capacity, maybe having three people running carts should be reconsidered to having someone count people going in and out from the garden center to the building, so in the unforeseeable event that you do run out of capacity for customers in the building you could have a separate entrance for those people not wishing to enter the building. I want to appreciate the opportunity to shop here and support your business but I was really upset & found that I was not the only person in the run around. read more

I'm done with this chain. I can no longer subsidize the greed of John Menard. This guy is worth over 8 BIllion dollars and has clearly gotten there by underpaying and mistreating his employees, ignoring environmental and labor laws, and then gouging customers with rebate forms he knows most won't mail in. Enough. The final straw came today when renting a truck to carry some plywood. Notwithstanding the $18.95 price written on their trucks, Menards now charges a mandatory, non-refundable $4.75 fuel surcharge and a refundable $50 deposit on top of the $18.95. $18.95 + $4.75 + tax on both the fuel and rental brings the actual price to $25.20. Others are at $20 with tax. You have my CC, so why the deposit? That's just nonsense. Worse, they illegally charge tax on it. Yes you get it back with the tax, but why bother at all when renting a dirty beat up pickup with 50k miles on it and requiring my insurance card? The fuel surcharge is pure greed. You are only allowed the truck for 75 minutes so using up $4.75 in gas in that time is a real challenge given how local the truck use is likely to be. Since the employees check in/out the truck anyway, how hard is it to monitor fuel? This time the employee walked me around the truck pointing out the countless dings, scratches and cracks that Menards certainly got insurance settlements for, but never fixed. The manager told me this charge started in Dec 2016 after "issues" occurred at other stores. Sure... I will now move all my business to the other 2 big box stores that are literally down the street from Menards. Life's too short to support nonsense and greed. read more

Needed 3 little sticks of wood trim cut in 45° angles, I asked one of the staff members if he could help me out because again, I needed them cut. This guy responded with "you can cut them yourself" like wtf. I asked him if i could have someone do it because last time I got trimming cut, I had a staff member do it for me, and he said "well there's going to be a charge per cut". I never got charged prior to this, I was even told many times before that they do free cutting at menards, it's even advertised online, I told him this and he literally responded with "okay you can do it yourself I've done it many times myself". HE WAS SO RUDE WHEN ALL I NEEDED WAS HELP. I didn't even care about the fee at this point I just needed them cut and he kept pointing over where the saw shed is located and insisting for me to do it myself. HORRIBLY SERVICE!!!!! read more

Do not purchase anything online for pickup from this store. My husband and I ordered a simple slab door online as the website said there were 2 in stock. We borrowed a family member's truck and drove 40 minutes to this location (the closest one to us didn't have any in stock). We waited 30 minutes while a few employees looked around for it before they told us they didn't have any in stock. The manager came and told us he went to pull it yesterday but it was damaged and couldn't sell it to us and that I got an e-mail saying they were out of stock. I told him I definitely did not get an e-mail and that they needed to fix their website because it had said they had 2- in fact I got an e-mail confirming my order and a mail in rebate for it. Another unprofessional employee laughed and said "yeah you're like the second or third person to tell us today they didn't get that e-mail!" The manager looked bored with us and waited for us to decide what to do. I had to ask them to call another store and he said the closest location that had one was over an hour away. No suggestions, no offer to expedite process from distribution center, just boredom with us. Meanwhile two employees behind him are running and sliding on their knees in the aisles and singing and yelling and swearing. The only helpful employee was the original guy to look for it on the dock. I wish I had gotten his name. We appreciated the fact he sincerely tried to look for it for a while. This wouldn't have happened at Home Depot. The entire process was very inconvenient and obviously I'm not the only one this happened to, judging by the unprofessional guy's comment. One of my geek mini-passions is energy-efficient lighting. Menard's has the widest collection of compact fluorescents I've found: large, small, globe, candelabra, you name it. (They used to have them in colors, too -- I put a variety of them into a hydra-headed lamp in my office and even my teen-aged nieces think it's cool.) They seem well-stocked with home security and networking stuff too, if that's your thing. Otherwise, they're a decent home/hardware big-box chain with amazingly amateurish TV commercials. Forget the "Fort Hill" address -- it's on the south side of Aurora Rd. a bit east of Fox Valley mall. Update 2006 Oct. 30: The colored compact fluorescents are back. They even have multi-necked lamps to show them off. Alas, they do NOT have the candelabra halogen capsule lamps -- c'mon, you guys, I picked up a pair at Walgreens on the way home, for heaven's sake! Our family does not have a high income; we look for deals when we can. We are in the habit of waiting until a week before Christmas to buy a live tree, and then we leave it up for a few weeks after the holiday to appreciate it. Every year we come to this Menards, where they have the trees marked down to as low as $10. The past two years we have found a $10 balsam fir. We only need a 5' tree, but there was no salesperson to help us in the tree section, and we could not tell the shape of any trees. One that was untied was 6-7' and the top foot and a half was an unusable stick, basically. Plus the bottom would need to be cut a bit to absorb water from the tree stand. It was priced at $25. I asked the floor manager if they would either give it to me for the price of the shorter trees ($20) because the top 18 inches was just a stick with no needles or branches. She refused. I should have asked her to find an employee to lug the tree back to the garden center and then stay with us while each tree tie is cut so we can see the shape of the other trees to consider. But I felt too discouraged. You're a mean one, Mr Grinch! We'll remember this for next year, Menards. read more

Very upset the rebate is sent to my house inside an ad. I have lost three rebates totaling $130 because of this and they say there is no way for menards to help. I have to contact a third party via email. Home Depot actually sends a store credit card and you never mistake it for an ad. Recently purchased (3) bifold doors. One that was pulled from stock was damaged and they offered to take $10.00 per the stock person but would need to tell Gloria at the customer desk. He informed her but she did not respond to help or address the matter. There was a sales cashier who asked if I needed help as she saw that I was waiting awhile and I explained what happened. I asked if another could call another store to verify that they had the size that I needed. She called and hey did -Plainfield. Sales person refunded (1) so I can purchase in Plainfield location. I went home to drop off the (2) decided to return to Naperville store due the size.
