I'm a contractor and was using Menards to buy all the windows and doors for a large project we were working on. Big mistake. One large, expensive window was wrapped so tightly that it bent the entire frame so badly that the metal lock cracked in half. So, I ordered another one. The next one showed up in the wrong color. So, I ordered another one. I picked that one up myself and realized immediately when I arrived to the jobsite that half of it was cracked. I brought it right back to the store and their manager, Brock Withers, claimed zero responsibility, would not take a return, blamed me for having broken it and tried to convince me that they had done me a huge service for taking the first two returns. This was just one small examples of all the issues we have ordering windows through Menards.... never again! read more

This place just flat out sucks. The staff is usually rude and unhelpful, there's typically long lines, and you are constantly worried about where to park because spots are filled with carts that are just piled up everywhere. You seriously have to park away from the building to prevent carts from rolling into your car. Save yourself the hassle and headache and just go to the Home Depot down the road. read more

Update: Since the last time I was here, per my husband, they have now started enforcing the mask requirement. Someone is at the door to enforce, and everyone is wearing masks. This business is not enforcing state mandated mask requirements. Entered the store and observed employees wearing masks below their nose, or pulling them down to talk. Every time I had entered this store, I have to restrain myself and tighten the "purse strings". My first trip in I was looking for a specific Christmas tree advertised in their special offers (among the many other new-home-owner tools I had to find). It wasn't on the shelves and their staff spent time looking with me, finally checking their storage. Needless to say, every time I've gone in so far, staff is friendly and willing to help. read more

I hung up and tried again, I finally was connected and told him I was on my way to pick up the patio umbrella. I arrived about 15 minutes later and was told he went on lunch, so I had to wait 1/2 hr. Very disappointed in customer service and availability of materials. Yesterday I went to the Wyoming menards in search of a drum or orbital sander. Friendly front desk staff told me the pricing and after telling her I hoped to rent It tomorrow I happily did the rest of my shopping. I stopped by the front desk again before leaving to clarify something and a different staff member I talked to said that both sanders are broken. I was confused as I had just asked someone about it and the manager looked over at me from a few spots down and rudely said "yeah they've been out of commission for months and we don't know when they will be back." Thank goodness I checked back and didn't show up the next day... why didn't the previous person tell me that!? I called the comstock park menards last night and they confirmed that yes, they have the sander and it is currently available. They said that we can't reserve it and it's first come first serve. My husband and I woke up early to pick it up this morning thinking there was no way in the 2 hours between us calling (on New Year's Eve!) and their close had someone else rented it. The front desk lady informed us after we drove alllll the way to comstock park that someone rented it last night. It should've been returned this morning but hadn't been and they technically could keep it as long as they wanted. Frustrated, we asked if they could call us when it came back in and they said they could not. So you can't reserve rentals and since they location close to us has broken ones we have to drive all the way to comstock park to have a "chance" that it might be there. Staff didn't seem apologetic and we left frustrated. Why on earth would you only have 1 working machine in all Kent county that you can't reserve?! I walked around here asking any employee I could find for help with fencing. And after 20 minutes of watching employees hide n seek at every corner of this place I realized that this place isn't where I want to do business. Go to Loews it's actually cheaper on most things. There should be an option for a zero star review. I placed in order online for 3 small items that their website said were in stock. I expected an email the same day or next day that the items would be available for pickup. it's been almost 4 weeks and I have yet to receive an email that the items are ready to be picked up. I have sent numerous messages to customer service asking about the status of my order, I have not received any replies to these messages. All they did was charge my bank account and not deliver a product. Do not ever shop at Menards, use a real store like Lowe's or Home Depot instead. read more

Save big money? Oh yes I did! I'm usually a Lowe's shopper, it's close to my house. However, I've recently come to appreciate the lower prices at Menard's. Especially all the rebates they run. Sure it's more of a glorified in-store credit and not cash back, but I'm ok with that, I have plenty of other tools to buy! Just very bad service. Never do they have what you need in stock even thought there web page says it in stock with 8 in inventory. Go to store, employee tells me it's a mistake, never looks, just said if we had it, it would be down. No service, just frustration. And the employee turned around and then cursed at me. I hate shopping here, no one ever helps, even when you ask them. And they did have what I needed in up-stock, saw it myself, couldn't get anyone to look. I prefer Lowe's or Home Depot, they answer their phones, they help. Menards, you guys are just awful at everything you do. I would not and could not in good faith recommend the Menards in Comstock Park for any of your home improvement needs. My wife and I have been renovating our new house and have not had one good experience dealing with their manager Ken and the "customer service team". They have not only messed up our ordering of items three times, but they never seem to care or do anything in spite of their constant mistakes. Yesterday I returned some unused flooring and was told by the helpful and friendly worker Megan, that anything else unused I could return as well . They just had to measure what I had left and take off a restocking fee for returning it. I came in today to return the rest and got the stink eye from the cashiers at the customer service desk who said pretty much "they don't do that ". They then got Ken the manager who seemed to care very little about the customer, and rudely told me "sorry they did this for you yesterday but we can't re sell these." Do not buy paint from here both times I have bought paint I have had many issues, it's watery and doesn't look good when put on the walls. Used paint from Lowes and after one coat looked incredible! Then I Tried getting them to match a color, I brought in numerous things to match it with (sports team color) and had to go back to the store 3times because each time it was the wrong color. Super inconvenient and each time the service was poor and not understanding. They have lost my service. Will be going to Lowes or Home Depot from now on! read more

In my humble opinion they had very poor customer service today. Went into buy an advertised product that was current in the flyer I believe from Sunday's paper and it was supposed to include batteries wanted to buy two of the items. Although the flyer in Sunday's paper said batteries included when I went to buy the product on the box said no batteries included. It took in my estimation nearly 15 minutes for them to figure out what they were doing or what they were going to do. Met with some negative/poor/in my opinion offensive attitude from one of theI supposed the managers with the service department when I ask why it should take me as a customer an......additional .....15 minutes when I should've been able to go to the shelf and just pick it off the shelf get the product off the shelf as advertised with batteries and it wouldn't be an issue I could buy it and pay for it and be out of there in less than five minutes but no she said it was a misprint. Well that's not my problem but why do they make it my problem by making me wait an additional 15 minutes or so as they try to figure out what the heck they're doing.I was going to buy some additional products there as well as do something else there while I was there located back in the housewares or home-improvement section but since it took so long at the service counter I was gonna . Anyway why didn't they have this all figured out prior to today/Friday when the ad came out on Sunday. Honestly I'm giving this Menards review a 5/5 rating because of how helpful and respectful the customer service I received from Tristan in the cabinet department today. The Thursday prior, I had picked up a tall pantry cabinet that was picked from the stores stock. This was a mistake... cause there were multiple errors in the order. Pieces were missing, pieces damaged, I was charged for unneeded parts, and there pieces I didn't even order just thrown in the mix. Anyway after going back to the store I was helped my Tristan. He was a younger guy that was very professional and easy to talk to. He made everything right. Tristan put in a fatalistic effort searching for my pieces and making sure all parts were reimbursed that were missing, damaged, or I didn't need. I was sad to hear he only works weekends cause I wish every worker at Menards was as helpful as Tristan. True customer service with a smile. Give this guy a raise, make him employee of the month cause I was going to curse this Menards and never return but this one amazing positive experience made me forgive the screws up order I received. read more

I've been here on numerous accounts but am left wondering why I return every time. The staff is incredibly unhelpful, not ever knowing where their products are nor what to use for each task. I've even guided there employee (after spending 30 minutes trying to find one) to the correct isle. I'm not the most savvy handy person in the world, but I've gotten advice from there employees that is the exact opposite of what I should do/buy. If I followed some of their advice, I'd be left with ruined surfaces, wrong supplies, and multiple trips and monetary loss. I purchased one of there fabric Quonset units online. So the store location was Muskegon's but it wouldn't matter because no store stocks them. This is a typical Menards chinese import. Although it say american made the instruction manuel had to be written by someone who has no command of the language. Or they have never put one together or put so many together that they skip so many steps because "everybody knows that". Of course it say now to return this to Menards just call for help. I was on the phone for a half hour before an answer and the representative was shocked at how poor the manuel was. And the parts that were bad I had to send pictures and proof of purchase via email. I purchased Black Bark at the Alpine Store a couple weeks ago and after the first rain it turned brown in color, all the black washed off. I trusted Menards and thought they would carry quality products. I complained and was told I had to fill out a letter and now it has been 2 weeks and not heard anything from customer service. They told me the buyer was going to put something on their web site to not put down before rain so it could cure, I'm not sure about you but I don't usually check web sights for everyday purchases. I ordered $743 of lumber including 45 deckboards, expecting SOME bad wood and paid for delivery. 21 of the deckboards were unusable. I quickly ran and hand picked boards needed to complete the job. I then called and requested they pick up the junk they I payed for them to drop off, and they said only if i posted another delivery fee of $50. The store manager, Mitchell, then confirmed delivery charge. Why do I pay for delivery of cracked boards waited 15º off level, then pay for pickup. Store will not stand ny product. Avoid like the plague. The savings in wood are sacrificed in quality, travel expense, and stress. GO TO ANYWHERE ELSE! read more
