Working on a building project in Indiana but didn't have enough time…read morelast time we were there to look at everything at the Indiana ProSource location, so we called the Grand Rapids location to see if we could finish making some selections. We were able to make an appointment that fit our day off and received friendly and helpful service throughout our visit. Each location is a franchise so I don't even think the staff here earns a commission if we pick things that will eventually be ordered in Indiana, but the staff member was very understanding and remained generous with his time throughout our appointment. Can't speak to quality of materials yet, but thankful for the positive browsing experience!

I write this review nearly 9 months post our experience with ProSource and a Highly Recommended…read more"flooring installer (ProSource referral). I waited to provide some time and distance to have the opportunity to reflect and assess with greater objectivity upon what was largely a costly, challenging and emotionally difficult experience. In taking a degree of ownership and accountability I highly recommend you do your homework. You owe it to yourself to take the time to complete due diligence regardless of the resource you select to partner with for your home remodeling and/or new build. Don't rush due to initial perception of potential cost saving for either products or labor/installation as sometimes one gets what one pays for. Also, consider prior and current supply chain issues which may impact choices and ultimate product selection. As it was stated to us, "don't think you're the first or last people to have poor flooring and/or poor installation". Sadly, we experienced both. The message is quite correct; but frankly, no one wishes to "be the one". And, should it transpire that you indeed "are the one", you'll want to hear and feel the support of both the product supplier and installer; who was referenced by ProSource--as a highly recommended, top installation contractor. Assure yourself that the installer will use approved products and techniques during installation which will not void guarantees despite whether the product sourcer and installer feel "is best"; (if installation guidelines state "no glue"; it means no glue as warrantee will be voided). Personally oversee the work at regular intervals to catch and communicate the installation of bad flooring and intervene with the process immediately. The installer placed nearly 80% of the flooring with nearly 60% of that being defective. Had we not evidenced this and stopped installation the installer would have completed the work; expecting full payment. Interestingly enough, it is common practice that the flooring manufacturer and/or distributor will reimburse the installer both time and money in instances of installation of defective flooring. Although, in instances where the installer uses unapproved techniques for installation this practice can become even muddier for the purchaser. "HUH"!! Since when does someone receive payment for knowingly delivering substandard product and work? While ProSource did Re-order and provide the entire amount of flooring to complete the work; the installer begrudgingly removed the defective flooring and installed the new product. On the day Re-work was to commence the installer asked us "isn't there any way you can live with this?" To which we responded, "no, would you?" Despite providing an air cooled environment, cold water, and a meal for the installation crew the owner of the installation company was surly and gruff throughout the Re-installation effort. In the end; your standards and what you're willing to "live with" likely far exceed the standards of those doing the work. Assure yourself that you'll receive what you've paid for; quality, timely products and installation which endure and stand the test of time.

Later, I learned from a scheduler that it would take 3 days. It actually took 4 full days. Next, the Vice President called and asked me, the payer, to drive across town to the HWC facility on the south side and bring him, the payee, a sample sheet of the tiles that would be used on my backsplash so he could determine which grout would be best to use. I grudgingly told him I would be 2 miles from his store on Plainfield the next day and would leave them there. I subsequently received a call from a female employee saying the tiles needed to be brought to the Porter store, 9.5 miles away, because there would be no one available to take them at the Plainfield location. The Plainfield store was, in fact, open, but I drove to the Porter location and had to contend with a street closing and then detour around a traffic accident. On the day the tradesperson arrived at my home to begin the work he took out a hand-held tray of grout samples and had been told to have me choose which one I wanted! I paid for and provided construction booties that I asked all the trades people to use when walking on the laminate floor or, especially, my beige carpeting if they chose not to take off their boots. I ended up disposing of 47 unused pairs of booties. Those that were used were only worn once or twice inside and then outside the house! On the first day tarps, which were provided by HWC and were filthy with dirt and paint chips were placed on the floor "for protection." On the second and following days I provided tarps of my own and had a worker remove theirs. After the last worker left I spent over 4 hours cleaning my tiny kitchen and removing scuff marks from my laminate floor. The faucet that was installed leaked the first time I used it, so the next day I sent HWC an email including a photo to find out about their warranty. I spoke to the Operations Manager and was told, "There is a 12 month warranty, however there should be no leak so I will forward this to production so we can get that taken care of quickly. Someone should be reaching out to you soon." 4 hours later I received an email from the Vice President asking if it was a new faucet, which it is, or used that his plumber installed. His response was, "Looking at the photos you provided it looks like the faucet itself is leaking, not the connections made by our plumber. If it is a new faucet I'm sure the manufacturer will warranty it, but typically not the charge for the plumber to install the new one. If it is your used faucet, that would be your responsibility. Either way you would be responsible for the plumbing service call. Let me know how I can help." How can you help, REALLY! The guy isn't even a licensed plumber and made his determination from a photo! As a show of good will on the day after the job was concluded he could at least have had his plumber check it in person. This is an HWC warranty? I'd been sitting on an estimate for patio doors and kitchen windows from another company, because I wanted to gauge the quality of HWC's work. I would never use HWC again.

We met our interior designer at their showroom and had our architectural plans with us, which I recommend. The process of choosing materials for your home's counter-tops, backsplashes, and other surfaces couldn't be easier. I recall them having a good amount of "stock" surfaces to choose from when we built back in 2011, but their choices have significantly expanded since then. We were able to select from a wide variety of quartz and granite at a very reasonable price point, but they have a huge selection of materials should you want something other than their stock selections. They are also happy to price out different material choices for you before you make your final choice, which makes the process that much better. Top it off with great service and professional installation and choosing Top of the World Granite becomes a no-brainer and I can recommend them without hesitation.
