I like Menards because they seem to have a whole different selection than the big box improvement stores. However, while Menard's has a lot of good stuff, the staff really have no clue where to find things. Customer experience could be significantly improved with a little more training. read more

So, so disappointed today with the garden center. 90% of the plants were mostly dead looking. Dried out, limp and lifeless. Let me tell you, this week has been our first hot week so there is no reason for the condition of those plants except lack of water. These plants will end in the garbage and it really is a shame. Come on Menards, do a better job. Shameful. read more

Not a fan of Mendards because of some of their social views so very rarely shop there. Today however they were the only option for an item we wanted. Associate in the garden area was super friendly and helpful. She took us inside to the item we wanted instead of just saying aisle 10 or something. We were able to get in get out with out spending more then we planned. As a last resort to Homedepot 1 to Lowe's 2 it will do in a pinch. read more

Menards is good for cheaper prices. They often have an 11% back sale so for large projects than you can get a large rebate back. You have to spend it in the store, but we usually have something we need. It's usually hard to find an employee to help, but when you do they are super helpful. The store is large and I can't ever find what I am looking for. I was able to get all new kitchen cabinet knobs for free! They were on sale and free after the rebate on each one. You have to get your plants early since they don't seem to get watered much. I was also looking for a very specific tree and they didn't have it. Overall we shop there several times per year. read more

Very impressed with Menards response to Covid-19. Right now Menards is requiring customers to wear masks that they bring with them, or buy one for $1.00. This is a positive and helpful response to a bad situation. read more

Had to return a large item under warranty Dan and the guys in the cabinets and the service department was fantastic. They didn't have the item on hand, so I had to go to the 96th street location (UGH!!) But Dan called the store and had everything set up for me...it was awesome. They did everything they could to accommodate me and it was perfectly smooth. read more

Extremely happy to support stores that require masks for the safety of customers and employees. There is no excuse not to require masks and I applaud them as a scientist and a citizen who is advocating for the safety of every single person in society. read more

I visited the Carmel/Westfield store at 2150 E Greyhound Pass Carmel, Indiana on 1/3/21. I entered the store at approximately 7:50 PM. The store closed at 8:00 PM that evening so I quickly went to the back of the store to get 2 sheets of GoBoard. There was only 1 board on the shelf so I spent a couple of minutes looking to see if there were more on another shelf. I realized that there were not more and I went to the checkout. My receipt shows that I checked out at 7:58 PM. My son had entered the store with me, but I did not see him at the time of checkout. I wanted to make sure that we were out of the store so the store could close, so I proceeded to my car to load the sheet of GoBoard. I loaded the sheet and took the cart back to the entrance door of the store. I was met inside the entrance by an emlpoyee named Ian. Ian asked if I was just returning the cart. I advised that I was returning the cart and needed to get my son quickly. Ian very quickly told me that the store was closed and he could not let me enter any further into the store. I advised Ian that I needed to get my son and we would leave. Ian told me that I am not allowed to go further into the store and that I needed to leave the building now. I told him that I was not going to be leaving the store without my son. As I started to walk further into the store, Ian pushed the cart up against me and physically got in front of me. I told Ian to remove himself from in front of me and that as soon as I had my son, I would leave the store. Ian continued to push the cart in front of me so I pushed the cart out of the way and over on the floor. Ian then got directly in front of me and literally put his face into mine and told me that I needed to leave. I told him that I would only be leaving once I had my son with me. I then asked who the manager was. Ian advised that he was the manager. I asked Ian who his boss was. Ian advised that he was his own boss. I asked the question again and Ian advised that John was his boss and was not in the store at that time. I asked Ian what he was going to do at this point. He advised that he was going to call the police. I asked him to go ahead and do that. Ian pulled the phone to his ear and started to call the police. At this point, my son came walking to the front to find me. We left the store at that time. When I arrive back to my vehicle, I looked at the time and it was 8:02. I was absolutely floored by the way that I was treated. I could not believe that a manager would not ask my son's age, offer to page him, offer to walk the store to help find him, or allow me to quickly find my son so we could leave. I did go to the store the following day and spoke to the assistant GM Mark. I do not know what action was taken. I feel that the corporate office should be made aware of this situation as these are not the traits of a manager. I have submitted an email to their general question box through customer service. read more

This store is good! Not quite at great as the one off of 96th street in Fishers. The main reason being that the aisles are sooooo tight! It's difficult to load up on flooring material. But overall a great experience! Love the people who work here and the 11% rebates! Keep up the good work! read more

I went here to simply buy new drawer handles with my dad and got ID as soon as I walked in the door. They are not allowing anyone under the age of 16 in this store, I actually am above age but happened to not have my drivers license on me. I'm feeling sorry for the single parents with children that have to leave them outside to wait. Just don't understand the age rule. read more

Horrible customer service. I moved to the area 6 months ago and have been to this store three times. The first time was for a push broom to sweep out my garage. Two employees responded with a simple "I don't know" when I asked where they were. No help, didn't ask someone who might know....just "I don't know". The second time was for a snow shovel to shovel my walk. The first girl I asked said she did not know what that was....being a millennial I assumed she probably had no idea what a snow shovel was so I asked someone else. This gentleman knew what one was, but had no idea if they had any or where they might be. Today I went to the garden department to buy tulips for my mothers flower bed, and again two different employees in the garden department told me they had no idea...no offer of help, just "I don't know" . You need to improve your skills with your customers.....remember there is Lowe's right across the street that will be happy to help you.... read more

Wow, this location is great if everything goes according to plan but if there are any issues and customer service is needed - MASSIVE FAIL! I (and husband) have been a long-time, great customers of Menard's and purchased expensive items before. I have never been so poorly treated by a general manger or manger in my life! For someone who is high up, John Hempel is HORRIBLE!! How can you run your store like that? We had a situation with a pair of wash/dryer that we purchased from his store and paid for delivery. Instead of being understanding as to why we needed to return the untouched washer/dryer and why I very kindly asked for a refund of the delivery charge (never delivered), John did the exact opposite! He lied, was rude, raised his voice with me, and was very unreasonable with me. When I politely told him I see that he is being disrespectful and I would like the spelling of his last name so I can inform the corporate office, in a terrible tone, he told me "it's irrelevant!!" and proceeded to hang up the phone! The situation could have been handled so many different ways but he chose to be flat out rude. Why would you not understand my honest frustration and remedy it as best as you can? Be honest, be kind, offer a courtesy whatever for the troubles? Bad experience, very bad. Not going back to this store or possibly another Menards. There are so many other stores that can suit my needs with the same products that have good managers and staff. read more

Customer service is really bad, ordered online so we can still use Menards during this uncomfortable situation we are all in, but the front desk lady was very rude, acted like she did not want to be there and rudely told me the pick up is way in the back area, why would you order on line to walk thru the entire store??? Please do not waste your time and shop here go to Lowes across the street they have it figured it, you can order on line and park close by door and go to front desk and have items ready. MENARDS has not figured it out and has no care that during a plumbing emergency they would rather have you walk thru the store. I often frequent this store because of them having unique things that Lowes doesn't. And that is my only compliment: Describing their customer service as dismal is optimistic. Knowledge is lacking and I truly feel for anyone frequenting in search of an answer to even a basic question. Associates also seem to have no store knowledge. If it's not in their paint by number computer with a picture and location the item may as well be on Mars. Expect to wander around blindly in search of both competence and also the item you came for. Advice, if you can find someone who works there and pin them down long enough to converse they are often wrong. Use a copper pipe compression cutter to cut (destroy) PEX plumbing tube....hmm...why didn't I think of that? Great idea! .... Enter with low expectations and you will still be disappointed. Went to Menards in Carmel this afternoon (Jun 18 at about 4 pm) to return something I had bought earlier in the day and had not used. The woman at the customer service counter did not greet me or smile. She hardly said anything and acted so rude that I felt I had to write this review so that the manager would know exactly what kind of person they have upfront serving customers. I shop often at this Menards and like their selection of hardware, but this was a complete turnoff. On the receipt for the return it said her name was Katrese. Someone should properly train her and correct her behavior. read more

You have officially lost my business. Called earlier today in order to rent a van. Stated the cost and bring a license. I arrived waited in line and was advised by annoyed rep. that I also needed to provide proof of insurance--I said okay it's in my car and I offered to pay before I walked out to the car to retrieve my insurance card she stated just wait until I returned. I immediately leave go to the car come back and she stated she rented to the fellow behind me--first cone first serve. Very disappointed in my experience today. I asked an employee for help making a key, and I was directed to a self serve key center in the back of the store. I followed the instructions and compared the keys when it was done. The keys didn't match. After asking an employee for assistance, I was sent to 3 different sets of employees before the third told me that the machine "wasn't theirs" and that I could call the number on the machine. In the future, I will make all of my purchases from a hardware that stands behind their products (anything offered in the store is "yours" because you are making a profit off of it). To be sure, I tested the key when I arrived home, and it didn't work. read more

I have been a loyal fan, particularly of the Carmel store since about 2002. I received terrific assistance from Ian (customer service) about a week ago. The store is clean and inviting, stocking a broader selection of items than the other two big box stores and consistently at better prices. I'm headed that way tomorrow to take advantage of several sale priced items. read more

Where have you been all my life! This is the funnest store to roam around. Good prices and great specials too. The online exp with landscape stuff is great. You buy and go in the back to pick it up. If it's stuff like mulch you're supposed to self load but as a 40+ lady the guys always just load me up happily without my asking. As compared to Lowes across the street, when you buy it they call you to pick it up the same day and then you go and they never even had it in stock to sell to begin with. But Menards computers are up to date. Employees are helpful. read more
