I came here for the Ladies Night event that they had with a group of friends. We were not expecting it to be as busy as it was! The parking lot was full and there was even an employee directing traffic. The store itself is huge! Even though there were a lot of people, I still felt like there was a good amount of space for everyone. Ladies Night is a once a year event. They had free beer, wine, seltzer, and apps! They also handed out a 20% off coupon for everyone. There was a raffle that you could enter as well. I was so impressed by the turnout of the event. It was super fun and I enjoyed walking around the store looking at plants and flowers. My friends and I each ended up getting a plant!

The people working there are always extremely nice. The products are high-quality, and the inside is pretty clean.

Beautiful place. The garden center albeit small is well cared for with many selections. The aisles are chocked full of items yet organized making finding things simple. They are super helpful and friendly. Masks on all and social distancing was evident by the patrons. Great hardware store!

I'm guessing this is a local garden/hardware store! It's cute! This location is smaller than another one that we passed by. We stopped in after eating breakfast at Cafe Patachou just diagonal across the street. They have all kinds of things! Peppers, sunflowers, and other things I had never heard of. We mostly just browsed but I know my mom would love it here! I'd like to come back and buy something!

Sullivan's provides excellent customer service for your hardware store needs. They treat their customers like family and friends. It is a great place to go when you have lots of questions about small repair projects and fixer upper details. The employees will answer all your questions and make great recommendations for the things you might not have thought of. Highly appreciate all the help. I also go here for wonderful garden items and unique outdoor ideas. I purchased a large fire pit / table here eight years ago and it is still a show piece on my patio. Convenient location. Free parking. Great service. Fresh popcorn. This is my kind of place!!

I love this place! I don't take on many home projects, but I'll tag along to Sullivan's any day. Free popcorn! Friendly staff. Products galore (& staff to help figure out which ones you actually need)! Plus, it's a community-minded business. They offer Halloween events for the kiddos, grill outs for the grown ups and the most fantastic holiday train set up in town (aside from the Eiteljorg but this ones free!!). Bonus: Get yourself on the rewards program & get a $5 Bday gift certificate & earn points all year!

The garden center is small, but mighty at this place. Good selection of both perennial and annual plants. Friendly & helpful staff to answer questions or make suggestions. Hearty looking plants and priced similarly as a big box.

Sullivan Hardware on Penn offers free popcorn on weekends. Hmm. Photo by Jennifer Litz.

I am waiting on some of my seedlings to start flowering, but I wanted to be able to offer a better variety of food to pollinators in the meantime. I ended up stumbling on a lovely Gaillardia Mesa Peach! I had never seen one of these before. I loved seeing a native Indiana pollinator enjoying the flower so much. I love the look of the flower and decided to grab two of the 4" plants for my balcony garden. I had just been using a pair of kitchen scissors for my garden shears and I have been gardening with bare hands. I did not like the first pair of gardening gloves I had bought elsewhere, but I found myself pleasantly surprised with how well the gloves fit me here. I decided to get a pair of gardening gloves too, to at least try to save my nails in the future, along with actual garden shears. My mouth almost dropped open when I was told that the total was under $40! I was so surprised, I checked the receipt. Nothing was missed, the price was just that good. I fear my gardening game has been lacking in previous years before going to local garden centers rather than national chains. I hope I will have more room next year and I can pick up a fruit tree and some vegetables and herbs, because that selection was likewise fantastic and plentiful.

I'm always impressed by the fun and engaging events that they host here throughout the year. For example, coming up for Mother's Day, they are hosting a potting workshop for kids to make gifts for mom. This is a small establishment by appearances, though it's bigger on the inside and roomy enough that I was quite impressed with wheelchair accessibility. Pearl Plants is, you can probably guess, a plant shop. It's level to the ground and has a couple accessible, though not legally, parking spots directly in front of it. I was able to use one of the spots. The doorway is relatively easy to open, though an employee saw me and came over just to make sure I got in. The front room is filled with plants, though they have nice pathways and I had no trouble maneuvering in the wheelchair. They have a fairly wide variety of plants, though it's important to note they're new enough that they're still getting settled and stocked. I was a little concerned with some of the plants that didn't look terrific, though overall the selection was solid and the prices were fair. They had a nice variety of prices, as well. Got a kid that wants a plant? They have the cutest smaller plants that you can get for $4-6. The front room is primarily plants, though they do have some planters and some other smaller plant-related items. There's a room behind the main room that is mainly filled with planters and plant stands and similar equipment. Again, I found the prices fair. Finally, there's also a back room. It includes more plant-related items. They also have art on the wall for sale in the backroom - it seemed mostly plant or nature related. My sense was that it was local. The shop was clean. They were cleaning and requiring masks. Additionally, they had masks laid out at the door (disposable) and some masks for sale. Employees were friendly, though introverted. They were helpful - they regularly offered help but not in an intrusive way. I ended up buying a plant mainly because I want to support the new kid on the block on this hard time. I've been on a plant binge lately and I may be in trouble having a plant shop so close to my house. I'll definitely be back. I'll likely wait for them to get a bit more settled. I'd like to get a bigger plant for my home and parking is close enough to the door here that it will be easier to facilitate. With friendly employees, a welcoming environment, a nice selection, and good prices this is a nice addition to the SoBro area and here's hoping the word gets out. I will confess I pondered a 4-star rating here. However, I'm giving the "newly opened" curve and the benefit of the doubt. I like this place a lot and am leaning upward and sticking with the 5-star.
