Spooky Season is officially upon us. I can always count on Menards every year for some pretty cool holiday decorations. While they do offer plenty of bargains on general merchandise storewide, the seasonal items can be a bit pricey in comparison. I tend to wait until after the holidays when those things go on sale and save them for the following year. I would say Michaels has similar decorations for about the price point and maybe a better selection typically with some coupons. I was on a mission for some scented witches broom sticks. Inventory said they had some in stock but they were not the scents I was looking for and when I did finally find some they were all combined in a box upstairs from last year with the old leftovers mixing pine with pumpkin spice so I will wait until they get some fresh ones. They were still full price but definitely from last season. Menards is a bit of a hassle with the rebate form that I always end up forgetting to fill out. It's still fun to see what they have though! read more

According to them, "you save big money when you shop Menards", but I can tell you that you won't necessarily save time by ordering online for pick-up in-store. I recently did so, expecting to save time and gain convenience, but was sorely disappointed. I placed an order online for a 5-gallon, food-grade pail, lid and lid opener. The instructions that accompanied my order confirmation were to enter the store and follow the signs for in-store pick-up. I did so, and was led from the front door, straight-through to the back of the store, and then to the furthest corner of the store from where I had entered. Surely, I had passed all of the items ordered during this trek. The store is massive, and if you are not familiar with the layout, online ordering would seem like a good, time-saving option, but that turned out to not be the case. Not to mention (as I mention), the "convenience fee" that I was charged to do so. This might be a good option for larger orders, but for the 3 item order that I placed, I would not suggest this. read more

It is very easy to get caught up in the jingle they have, "you save big money" but this store is mostly about convenience of them having EVERYTHING in their store. The best value is always on their clearance items or sale items because all of their other prices are just ok. They have a rebate program that you can get money back on your purchases and they advertise the after rebate prices everywhere so when you buy your item mentally you're thinking about the lower price. The rough part is being disciplined enough to follow through with the rebate process. read more

Been here a few times for different tool and home improvement needs for my cousin and family. I'm amazed how huge this store is compared to Home Depot and Lowe's. It's sort of a Disneyland for all home improvement and DYI stuff. Home improvement chain with assorted building materials, tools, gardening supplies & appliances. Strangely, they offer some grocery items to name a few: milk, eggs, butter, cereal, oatmeal, apples, sodas , miscellaneous snacks. Additionally offer some bathroom items: shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste to uncle eye contacts. Other items available, too many to list. During Christmas there's a beautiful display called The Enchanted Forest. A good amount of decorations and tree selection. Lumbar section is massive. Customer service is great. My cousin's step daughter works there and enjoys it very much. Wish they had Menard's store in the west coast where I currently reside. read more

Absolutely despise Menards. I've stopped shopping there a long time ago because of the way that they have their rebates and I can rarely get the service that I need. Unfortunately, I DoorDash. Menards has been added into the list of stores that DoorDash provides for. So where do they place the pick up? At the very back end of the store. So I have to walk all the way back there normally wait on somebody to become available, and then have to carry the item all the way back up to the front. This is in spite of the fact that they have a back entrance that allows delivery that is right there and I could just pick it straight up from there. But I go to the gate and the guy says oh I'm sorry you have to walk all the way through the store it's a corporate policy. Well, the corporate policy is stupid. And so is Menards in my opinion. I doubt I will ever shop there again. And as for the DoorDash's, I think from now on whenever I see one at Menards. I'm going to cancel the order. It is rare that I ever wish. Something bad upon somebody even when they've mistreated me, but in this case, I would not be sad at all, if Menards ends up going out of business at some point in the near future. read more

Beware special orders when they say "free shipping". They add a "handling fee" which is non-refundable. I thought this was only done on "as seen on TV" offers late at night. Order was not shipped on date promised so I had to cancel. Of course they kept the "handling" fee of product they never handled. read more

Stopped by to check out the garden center. There were literally hundreds of vegetable plants drying up and dying for lack of water. Many flowers and hanging baskets turning brown as well. It is obvious that no one is taking care of the garden center plants. What a waste, many of the vegetables are already beyond saving and more will be dead soon if they don't get watered. read more

On Lane two just now, the cashier tersely asked me "how many?" No greetings no eYe contact. It was a small stack of cardboard boxes so not a lot of hard work and I could've cheated the store, but I truthfully answered four. "$20"! No eye contact. But as I'm moving to the end of the row With my items (that she should have moved) she's greeting a customer in the next aisle "hi how are you today. Have a nice day!" (next aisle Meaning not a part of her work, and she had a customer behind me to tend to who was waiting) Very rude, off putting. Perhaps coincidentally and perhaps not, she and I were different colors, and the person she greeted in the next aisle, Who glanced at her but never responded as if he didn't want to have anything to do with her, was the same color as she. Trying to hit on him? IDK and IDC. poor human interaction. Menards, survey your staff; watch how they are performing. This store just lost a long time customer forever. read more

I just went in there to buy some things on my way through and took a cart through the wrong way I guess and a male manager walked up and gave me a nasty look and slammed the door. Now I could see if he works have said oh can you take it from the other end I would have gladly done so and I would have apologized to him for not doing it right. We had treated deck boards delivered last month and they were absolutely terrible quality. We weren't allowed to pick out our boards at the Kokomo, IN Menards store because the order was being delivered. The delivery charge was highway robbery also I might add. Out of 30 boards, only 4 or 5 were what would be called good quality, even though we were assured all would be good quality. We have had to pick and pick thru the boards because there are tons of large splits, holes all the way thru, and huge knots. I've never been so thoroughly disgusted. We took our business to them, which the Kokomo Menards is about 25 miles from us instead of going with our local Lowe's. We've been here multiple times in the past week as we do home improvements and have gotten great help each time. The place is huge and it's easy to get lost, so I've been impressed at how well the employees have known where everything is and been able to answer our questions. It always makes me laugh when you see rows of grocery items and snacks at a hardware store, but it is helpful and the price points have been pretty good too. read more

The one star is for the manager with the ponytail named Ian. The staff working the registers and helping in the parking lot get 5 stars. While a nice employee was helping my wife load floor tile into her car, Ian told him to get on a register. Ian was disorganized and didn't seem to have a handle on anything. The young employee helping my wife load, said he was helping a customer. Ian told him in front of my wife to leave her and to get on a register. I feel bad for the employees who have to work with Ian. I would highly recommend some management training and customer service training. I'll be back because the staff were super helpful. But Ian was very off putting and made it look like there was no organization going on. Please help him. read more

So, this is a trek for me, so I only come here when I can't find things closer to home, but when I have had to come all the way up here, they've had what I need, usually with multiple choices. This time I needed a ceiling fan, that was a ceiling hugger variety and also had a remote control...this is not as easy to find as one might think...but they did have a good number of options meeting all of these specifications at Menards. Over the years I have found they are often the best option for lighting fixtures and other similar items. Since I knew what I needed, I didn't need any help from staff, so can't speak to how helpful they would have been if I needed help! I was in and out quickly and have an 11% rebate form to fill out which was a nice added deal. read more

As the other reviews note, this is a pretty average Menards experience lacking in some of the great customer experience that you might find at other Menards locations like the 96th St location in Indianapolis. We were here hunting down trim for a cabinet project and were eventually able to find what we were looking for. My only regret was not checking out the garden center to have a better comparison of this location to others...that's often where I find myself whether planned or not when at home stores. read more

I usually don't come to Menard' s to get hardware supplies, but it was just down the street from me and I was getting ready to move, so I stopped in to get some light bulbs and other items. Menard's is quite a hardware store that has a little bit of everything. However, I found the layout of the store to be confusing and eventhough the aisles are labeled, I still have to walk around the entire store to find what I wanted. Plus, there is no staff that is attentive and able to help you if you need it, because they are busy working on other things, and you have to flag them down and get their attention in order to have them help you with something. That is a pet peeve of mine when I go shopping. Other than that, Menard's is a good hardware store that has what you want, and the prices do appear to be reasonable. The staff just needs to be more attentive to customers if they need assistance. read more

Menards' mismanagement wasted over an hour of my time today. I online ordered a fire pit and after a few hours I drove the 25 minutes to the store to pick it up. After waiting in the order pickup area for another 20 minutes, I called the store only to find out that they had looked for the grill EARLIER IN THE DAY (to take it to the pickup area) but couldn't find it in stock. So why didn't anyone call me to let me know it's not available??? I then had to drive back around the store to go in and get a refund. Never an apology from anyone. Total waste of time. Honestly, this store has been declining in service and cleanliness for at least a couple years. Will just order from Amazon next time & save the hassle. read more

Been here lots of times but never posted a review. I tend to enjoy shopping here more than other big box hardware as it has more of a vibe for me. Today I needed some fertilizer for the yard and found it with no trouble. The store has basic and medium grade home project supplies. The store has a simple layout and I usually am able to find what I need without assistance. When I have needed assistance, it is always easy to find an associate. Pricing here is fair and the staff is friendly. I'm happy to provide them my business in the home improvement category. Give them a shot and you won't be disappointed. read more

Menards is Toys R Us for adults. I can spend hours in this store shopping for home improvement projects. You walk in with a plan of action only to leave with a truck full of other items you didn't know you needed until comes across them while browsing the store. read more

Hate the way they handled the situation of Covid 19 at onset. They created more havoc than needed. My daughter is 18 years old and was wearing a mask. The security guard at the front said she looked younger than 16 so they wouldn't let her In with me. I was angry enough to not go to Menard's again. Lowe's is across the street. No frill experience ... and staff is not helpful. I am sure store is loosing sales because staff is not skilled in sales and treats it like a temp job. You can show an item from a nearby competitor and they will not sell you comparable product. You will be sent to competitors store. And when it comes to assistance - good luck. UPDATED - still shitty place with rude employees. I had to go to Menards again. They were the only place that showed they had something I needed today in stock. I went for the drive up pickup delivery. Big mistake. No one was helping. They guy in front of me had been there 40 minutes. At one point he gets 4 Menards workers and they wander off. I go inside to find help. I find two Menards "workers" having a chat session and stand there waiting to speak to them. They ignore me. I walk off. I finally get the "worker" whose job it is to help the pick ups. She seemed pained to do her job. Good bye Menards. Next time I'll wait to get something from elsewhere. You stink. We wanted two cement blocks and wandered about the outdoor and construction supply area and could not find any. After asking the cranky cashier in the garden area if the sold traditional cement blocks, she confirmed they had them by looking in her binder which had the pictures scan codes for everything, she said could not help tell us to find where they could be found in the outdoor and building supplies area, but we wandered back anyway and were told by someone working in the huge paver and block area to just pay for the blocks and then drive our car through the cavernous lumber and construction supplies pick up area around back. We went back to the same cashier who challenged us on our request to purchase the blocks and then drive around to pick up the blocks, apparently offended somehow that we were purchasing just two cement blocks. She stood there with her mouth agape saying "two!? Two?!" We didn't know what to say. she then added "you can't carry two!?" We explained we were just doing what we were told to do. She then unformed is she couldn't sell us two blocks (even though she had a binder with the cement blocks in them with a scan code to ring them up). She suggested we walk around to the cashiers inside the store. We had enough. We left and went to a nearby competitor, Lowe's. I found some disposable gloves here. Got lucky! Finding disinfectant is still a little tricky. You MUST wear a mask upon entering and if you do not have one, they sell it for $1 Hours are shorter due to covid-19 so check that. read more

We found some great flush lighting for our new home and a great ceiling fan too. The employees were helpful and looked around for other stores if they didn't have what we were looking for. 4 stars because it feels a little discombobulated maneuvering the aisles. Not only is the commercial jingle annoying, but they play it while you're in the store. Hey, we're already here, no need to keep on advertising. Why a 1 star you ask? the two times I have been here no one has been helpful. The first time I came here to buy a grill, and I asked if someone could help me with a few questions. They send some high schooler who has no clue what the hell he is talking about. Strike one. 2nd time I went here, I was looking at patio furniture. Again, asked someone for some help, and they sent a guy who had just transferred from hardware. I asked the guy if he knew anything about the rebates, or the quality of the sets. I would give it 0 stars if I could. We showed up at 8am to rent a truck. There posted charges are VERY misleading. They charge mileage and a weekend surcharge so it was over $60 to rent a truck for 1.5 hours. It took us over 30 minutes to get the truck. They tried to give us a truck with no gas. Menards is so much cooler than I imagined! It's right by my house, but so is Lowes so I usually just go there. However, I wanted to check out Menards to find a few things for a bathroom remodel. They had everything I needed and more, plus I did their paperbag deal for 15% off. Specifically I was looking for bathroom mirror options, of which they had tons. I was checking one out and an employee let me know they were discontinued and therefore on a great sale. We were accosted by a female associate for asking if the store provided complimentary masks. She asked if we knew how many customers they had and how unrealistically providing free masks would be! I'm a patient guy. Seriously. Give me even HALF an effort and I'll be satisfied. Sadly, this wasn't to be the case with this particular Menards. My wife and I went to purchase a new lawnmower. We went to the correct section of the store, We found a lawnmower to suit our purpose, but no employee was to be found working in that section, so we just grabbed the tag off of the shelf and headed to the checkout counter. The young lady at the checkout was pleasant enough, but seemed thrown for a loop that we were there with a tag but no merchandise. She called her supervisor, who, for a minute or two, seemed stumped also. She radioed someone to retrieve a mower for us, and after quite an extended wait, the employee came wheeling up with the lawnmower off of the shelf. I asked if they had one in the box, and they said no, so I said that was fine. I asked for a manual and paperwork (Warranty cards, etc) from the mower, and more radio talking, and another extended wait. Finally the supervisor said they don't have a manual, but that they can print one off, and I said that was fine. We went on and paid for our mower on that basis. And we waited. and waited. and then we waited some more. Finally, the supervisor came up and said they could NOT print off a manual, after all. No offer of a price break, or trying to find us a warranty card, or anything else. All in all, a pretty dismal experience. read more

Kind of a random assortment of Lowe's type items and food and random appliances and outdoor things and tools, Menard's has definitely declined through time into a state of mediocrity. The only reason we ever came here is because my grandpa used to work here in its better days and the only reason we are here today is because there is a birdseed sale. While the jingle may be catchy, it is not really necessary to advertise it to the people inside your store. They're already here. Are you really that desperate to get people to buy your crap? I'd sooner go to Lowe's to be honest. Menard's and Home Depot just lack something that it has. read more
