A friend and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to look at bathroom vanities, countertops, and accessories. There were several vanities on display, and we spent quite a bit of time checking out various styles and accessories. We didn't see an associate in the area the entire time we were there. It seemed like they were short on associates that day as there were employees being paged over and over again to the same areas. When you order from Lowe's, you get an $1,100 kitchen sink delivered to you with a huge gash in the enamel (photo). The plumber who's helping with this kitchen project charges you a $155 service fee to put your old sink back, and advises you that damaged products from big-box home improvement stores "happen all the time," as he tells it, at least 30 times in his years in the business. Don't bother trying to get a real human on the phone from Lowe's; their automated phone assistant is like talking to a wall. And you've wasted your time picking up this 100-lb sink, lugging it up your stairs to the kitchen and then having to lug it back to the car to take it to Lowe's for a refund. If you want to "Do It Right for Less," I don't recommend starting at Lowe's. read more

I could see the doorknob with my name on it on the shelf but wasn't allowed to take it. I ended up going to the aisle and purchasing the item and cancelling the online order. Still no help after 30 min. This is the third time in a year something like this has happened. They need a better system. I'll stick with Home Depot or Menards. read more

I've been to this store a few times over the years. Tonight, I stopped in as I'm doing some cleaning and organizing around the house and also needed some supplies for my parents' house. The vibe here? This Lowe's strikes me as ideal for grandmas needing to take care of their flower beds (No, I'm not hating on grandmas) and the yuppie DIY'er whose needs are basic. It's amazing how different places have different vibes. Home Depot is for the true hardcore DIYer who may even want to rent tools. Menard's is a little more family friendly - sort of an urban Rural King. Lowe's? You can get most of the basics here, however, the lack of knowledgeable staff in-store would almost always keep me from hiring anyone to actually install anything. Tonight, my needs were basic. I did ask about steam cleaners - at first, they didn't know. However, a nice gentleman looked it up and took me to the right place. They didn't really have what I wanted, however, he was helpful and even handled my cart (which was awful, you would think in a hardware store they could actually fix their carts). I did get some cleaning supplies. I'm not big on self check-out, however, the employee who'd assisted me handled the check-out - theoretically great, however, when I got to the car I realized the bill was a bit high. He'd charged me twice for the expensive item and hadn't charged me for another item. So, I trudged back in to get that straightened out (it was handled fine). Accessibility here is good. Lots of accessible spots. The doors are automatic. That's always a plus. The aisles are wide and I generally could get where I wanted to go (well, except for that awful cart). My favorite sections here? Appliances, kitchen/bath, and carpet/flooring. I find the cleaning section a little lacking and I find the customer service hit-and-miss (though, to be fair, almost always good in terms of willingness to help). This is a solid 3-star for me. I'd probably have forked over the fourth star if not for the checkout mishap. I appreciated the help - I just wish it had been more accurate. I typically go to the Glendale spot as it's closer to my home, however, I was in this area and there's honestly not a huge difference between locations. I bought a washing machine at this Lowe's location. The appliance staff that works here was great. However, the contractors that they hire to install appliances are AWFUL. Two guys came to install the washing machine. One guy spoke no English. The other guy barely spoke English. A few days later, the washing machine started leaking. I called Lowe's to have someone come out and fix the issue. Two new guys came to my house. Neither of them can speak English well enough to communicate with me. I can't understand them and they can't understand me. They appear to be blaming me for installing the washing machine poorly...They're not understanding that a Lowe's contractor installed it. They're very rude and they're lazy. They're trying to do the bare minimum amount of work and leave as quickly as possible. They blow off questions that I ask them. Very rude and unprofessional. This Lowe's Leads the Way! You know when you walk into a place and you can just feel it has a great culture? This store has it. I used my MyLowe'sRewards credit card to purchase a $3,000 lawn mower online. Unfortunately, the financing did not carry through. I called customer service, who sent me into the store to get it fixed. A long list of hiccups caused fixing the financing to take way longer than expected, I didn't care. I spent a bit of time shopping and the majority of the time just chatting with the team. A giant, special shout out to Mikayla, Brian, Cynthia, Nena, and a handful of others whose name I did not catch. You all were so kind and having so much fun, it took me back to my days in retail. I was so fascinated with the 1-minute make your key machine, I made four!!! I was clearly out of my element and out of many employees passing by me only 2 initiated an offer to help. There was a young student (college, maybe even high school) who was extremely helpful. If I were ONLY rating Johnny I would give twenty five stars, but the store only gets four. This was the second Lowe's I went to in search of cut by the foot plastic carpet protector. It was late in the evening on a Thursday night and nary an employee to be seen in the back by the flooring. After wandering in circles for awhile I decided to go to the front to find someone. The front desk looked up my item, and finally a volunteer to help comes to the desk, Johnny!!! Johnny deserves a raise and a million gold stars. Johnny for employee of the month! Johnny spent probably 20-30 minutes trying to help me find this product. Turns out it was in the back and hadn't been put out to the floor yet. He carried the heavy box to the floor, opened it, put it on the roller, cut it for me, found a label and got me on my way. All for me to only need two feet of the product. I had 2 bags or orchid potting mix that were, of course, so mildewy-smelling. I had 4 new orchids to plant and I convinced myself that it was only the plastic bags, not the potting mix itself, that smelled so bad. This store needs to fire the Asia lady who works in self check out. I came here to buy a tv wall mount and before coming in, I'd actually been looking online for tv wall mounts at different stores and ended up finding a Hangman tv wall mount at wal mart for $19.98. This same brand was in stock at this Lowe's but the price was 5 dollars more so I looked up if Lowe's did price matching. Come to find out they do! It says it right on their official website. So before I check out, I approach the Asian lady and tell her I'd like to do a price match and she rudely says "We don't do that!" I said oh ok and walked away to go back to the website bc maybe just maybe my eyes were deceiving me. But nope. Went to the website and clear as day it says that Lowe's offers lowest price guaranteed and price matches identical in stock products. So for my 2nd attempt at this, I go to customer service. Because...6 times out of 10 when I roll into Lowe's, Ace's, you name it, I don't which isle holds the answers to my questions and count on their team to show me the way. Today, I was on a mission to find hooks to hang rugs as artwork in our home. Turns out (after a few phone calls and unsuccessful hardware store stops) that finding rug hooks is not as easy as it sounds. Fortunately, the Shadeland location was helpful in brainstorming alternative options with me. I placed a curbside order and arrived at 5:25pm and checked in. At 5:40pm I placed 4 calls to the store before I finally received a live person. He automatically transfers my call to fulfillment and I no one picked up. I called the store a 5th time and once again he answers and automatically transfer me to fulfillment and surprise, no answer. I finally had to go inside the store and wait for service and tell him I want to speak to a manager. I tell him what happened and I'm not pleased with the service. I could have spent my hard earned money somewhere else but selected Lowe's because I shop here frequently and spend quite a bit of money here. I told him this and I/customers should not receive this type of service. All he could say is "I'm really sorry about this mam". How about I apologize and I'll remove the charges and I hope you continue to do business with Lowe's???? Here it is 6:10pm and I'm just receiving my order and leaving. Appreciate the Lowes credit card with 5% back - better offer than other big box stores. However it seems items I'm shopping for are also never on sale. We are doing a bathroom remodel and have visited several times recently. Cheryl in customer service is super helpful. We've mainly spent time in bathroom and tile areas. There has always been someone very attentive And helpful in the bath area each time we visited however in the tile area we've seen no staff at these times. This is not our first remodel so we don't need as much help as we may have in the past. Most things we have wanted to buy have been in stock. However one thing was not so we bought it at the nearby box store instead (although we missed our 5% discount). It seems very convenient to purchase online and have our contractor pick things up. Be warned that Kohler bathtubs do not take standard tub drains and while Lowe's carries a cast iron Kohler bathtub in stock they do not carry the associated drain parts in stock. It takes a few days to order and can delay your project. That's a bit frustrating. Some in stock tile does not have matching finishing pieces such as bullnose. So we found a tile we liked but are having to accessorize due to lack of matching tiles. Much different than a specialty store. Perhaps these itejd are orderable but we never saw an associate in this area to inquire. read more

My husband and I have been Lowe's customers for years, but this was our first visit to this location and we will not be returning. We live over 2 hours away, but recently bought a home closer to the area and needed a dishwasher, so we came here to get one. We had to order it and the lady who helped us was friendly and said it would take 7 days to come in. We explained that it would be 2-3 weeks until we were in town again and she reassured us, saying they'll hold it for 30 days (which we later found out they only hold things for 7 days apparently!?). She also rang up the hose that went with it and was in stock, but even though we said we could take it the day we ordered the dishwasher, she encouraged us to just pick it up when we come in to pick up our order. Okay, whatever. We paid for everything and left. The next day we got an email saying our order was ready, but more specifically, just the hose. We continued to get emails/calls about the hose being ready for pick up and asking if we wanted to put it back since we hadn't been in. Each time my husband would call and explain the situation, that we'd be back down in a couple weeks and they seemed fine with that. The week he made it to town and was going to pick up the dishwasher, he got an email saying our order had been ready since April 1st and they were going to cancel the entire thing...interesting especially since we placed our order on April 22nd, so I don't know how they're saying it's been ready since before we ever even went into the store and ordered anything! He went in and picked up our order and every employee he spoke to seemed unwilling to help and he was told the hose was put back and a refund had been issued. He was frustrated with everything that had happened and decided he would buy the hose somewhere else since they made it such a big deal, especially since we were willing to take it the day we ordered/paid. So he got the dishwasher (which he loaded up into our truck by himself since no one offered to help and when he asked for help, no one came) and left. I checked our bank account and no refund was ever made for the hose. I waited a couple days and went in and they did refund it, but the entire experience was super frustrating and the majority of employees lacked customer service. read more

I've been doing a summer remodeling project and have made several trips to the Shadeland Lowes location for materials. Aaron in the lumber department has been so helpful! He's so patient in helping me find the right pieces and then cutting the lumber for me. I'm not comfortable using a saw, so it has been extremely helpful. He also doesn't point, he actually takes you to show you where things are in the store! Amazing customer service, keeps me going back and doing more projects lol. read more

We placed an order (order was placed with PJ) for a refrigerator, washer and dryer, and stove with a delivery date for 5/1. Well, we only received the washer and dryer and the stove. Called the store and was told it was coming from another store so WE would have to contact that store and set up the delivery (makes no sense). We called the other store and they were completely oblivious to what we were talking about. Finally I go up to the store to see what's going on. Well, after digging a little (with the help of Julie) we find out that the refrigerator was scheduled for pick up, not delivery. Also, that particular refrigerator that we ordered will not be back in stock until late June. We had to order a different refrigerator and scheduled for it to be delivered TODAY. I received a text from JD Hunt asking me to confirm the delivery date for May 3rd... I clicked the link and confirmed. Well, today I get a phone call saying it's going to be delivered TOMORROW!!!! After being inconvenienced twice now I can say I'm completely dissatisfied and disappointed by the lack of professionalism, communication, and customer service. This is completely unacceptable. We just spent THOUSANDS of dollars on new appliances only to be given the run around. The following day my boyfriend goes up to the store and they (Cory) gave him the LG fridge we had originally ordered. When we removed the box and plastic there was a dent and long scratch on the side. I go back up to the store (because they never answer their phone) and spoke with Chasity who was supposed to mediate the entire situation but that was a joke because she never called me like she said she would to see what was going on. Called corporate the same day and guess what THEY DONT CARE EITHER!!!! All they did was file a "formal complaint " with the company and the manager "should call you in the morning". Ha, nope, no call and it's been 3 days!!!!! Not only did we have the issue with the whole refrigerator fiasco..... now we have an issue with how our washer was poorly installed resulting in our laundry room flooding!!!!! When it was installed they used a zip tie to attach the hose to the waterline to "prevent" the hose from coming out of the drain. Now I'm not the smartest person but I do know that if it's not secured properly the pressure from the water will make the hose come out of the drain hole. Luckily I was walking in the hall and noticed the carpet was soaked before serious damage was done!!! Called up to the store and was told that the only manager was in a meeting with an employee and that they were unable to step away but he'll call in the morning. Keep in mind that they are the customer, not you. Don't expect them to care if you have a problem. Don't expect them to deliver on time and especially not on your schedule. They are the customer, not you. And they don't care if you have a problem with that attitude, regardless of how much you spend, which is more than other stores because they are the most expensive. Once he did, there was a lot of sighing as if he didn't want to be there. He said if there were further questions, just ask. He answered a couple of questions then walked away. I had to go find him. I hear gigglingnso head that direction. He was over in home decor taking to two female employees. I asked to speak to a manager. There was three instances of "what does she want" over the phones/walkies. Manager Kent showed. I proceeded to ask him about carpet, then the employee stood by me. I told Kent that the employee had been in home decor chatting with others. The employee argued with me and the manager just let it happen. We ordered a washer and dryer earlier this week. They were scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday. They were not delivered. I called the delivery company, who told me that they couldn't get to my delivery and I would have to call Lowes to reschedule. They would not simply put me on the schedule for the next day and did nothing to try to help. I went in to Lowes the next day (Thursday). The manager helped me to reschedule the delivery for Friday morning--I was waiting there as he scheduled it over the phone. Friday morning came and the washer and dryer still were not delivered. I called the Lowes delivery company, who told me that I was not on their delivery list. I was polite and asked the representative to help me solve the issue. He patronized me and told me several times to calm down. I was being calm. Now I have no idea when or if the washer and dryer that I paid for will ever be delivered, while my laundry piles up. I have been a loyal customer to Lowes, as I don't want hardware stores to fall by the wayside due to online shopping. But at this point, I am down shopping at Lowes as much as possible. A gentleman named Alex in the lumber department went above and beyond the call of duty by answering all of my questions, meeting all of my stated needs, and helping me to explore new ideas for various projects that would have never even crossed my mind without his extraordinary expertise and most valuable insights leading the way. I can't thank him enough, and I am definitely looking forward to doing additional business with him in the future! Found the gardening section difficult to navigate in that I found "kiddie" watering cans, but couldn't find the adult ones. And since there weren't many staff about, I wandered longer than I wanted to and then when I asked the chick at checkout, she didn't know where they were either. I have been going to Lowe's for years, especially for lumber and sometimes electrical and plumbing. I was quite disappointed today when I went to return some electrical supplies only to find that they have a 90-day return policy and I was 2 weeks late. The items that I wanted to return were still in the boxes, unwrapped-- obviously unused, and I had a receipt. It would not have cost at Lowe's anything to take those items back and resell them. I can understand that they don't want to be taking things back that are old stock or outdated, but these are the same items that they have on their shelves right now. I realize that a lot of people will tell me that it should have been aware of the policy. I agree. And some people are going to think that I consider myself special to be an exception to the rule. I don't want to be an exception, I want that policy to be flexible for the benefit of Lowe's and the goodwill of its customers. They already make it very clear that us dyers are not their favorite people. They give preferred parking to pros and veterans. But those of us that do our own projects sometimes take longer than someone who does it every day. We have other things going on in our lives, and sometimes projects take longer than the pros would take. I would like some consideration to be given. I'm afraid I'll have to go back to Menards on a regular basis now. read more

I even tried calling different departments to get them to transfer me to the receiving department and they either hang up on me or they put me directly on hold. I placed an order at lowes.com to pick up at this store because the store did not have it in stock. The order was for 10 blinds at over $400 total. The store calls me to tell me the order is ready for pickup. Good service thus far. I stop by to pick it up and the clerks at the Customer Service line act like I just asked to pick up a Pterodactyl burger, Unobtainium, or some exotic near extinction fish that is only found in one Zimbabwean stream between May 15th and June 2 of every year. I explain that I was told my order is ready to be picked up, and they start scrambling. The next are snippets of the exchanges that followed: Clerks: "It's not up here at the front." Me: "Please find some more people to help them in the back." (I'm solving the great unsolvable problems of humanity here) (After 15 minutes of scrambling, going to the back, etc.) Me: "I'm a little upset that I was told the order was ready and I've waited 15 minutes thus far." Clerks: "The order is ready." Me: "Ready means it's here at the front, I come in, I sign, and I'm out in two minutes." Clerks: (Crickets) Me: "I would like to talk with the store manager please." (After 20+ minutes, the items arrive and the store manager arrives) Store manager essentially says that orders shipped to stores need up to 20 minutes to be found and picked up.
