Russell was very helpful. I was looking at gardening boots, but they didn't have my size. Russell called their other store and was able to offer some options. He was engaging and friendly. The store offers an array of grills, power tools, paints and general hardware supplies. The shelves are remarkably well organized and neat. Many shelves were empty as I assume they are preparing for spring inventory. Many items were on clearance including Yetis so there are some great deals. In the entry alcove is a fascinating history of the hardware store's evolution. The history dates back to at least 1889 when the store was located at 110 West Main Street in Carmel. The store has been owned by four families start with O. W. Nutt prior to 1889. Steve White bought the store in 1984 and built the current location on Rangeline Road in 1989. I love that someone took the time to capture the history. There's plenty of parking in their private lot. You can only enter or exit going north in Rangeline, but the roundabouts make going in the right direction easy.

I never thought I'd buy a Weber grill, as I didn't understand why they seemed so expensive. After an Ace salesman showed me some differences and how they stocked all of the parts I may need down the road, I purchased one. That was a bit over a year ago, and I haven't had even the slightest "buyers remorse". Sure, it was a lot more than one of the other brands at a big box store, but wow does it do a great job. The heat is so even, and all of the controls just feel sturdy. On top of that most of the internals are made from stainless steel and should last a LONG time. Ace is a great asset to western Noblesville. As this town has grown, we've gotten all of the big box stores, but with those comes traffic and customer service that is mediocre at best. It's definitely nice to have a locally owned store where I can go pick up the things I need without having to drive across town.

I tend to wait until after the holidays when those things go on sale and save them for the following year. I would say Michaels has similar decorations for about the price point and maybe a better selection typically with some coupons. I was on a mission for some scented witches broom sticks. Inventory said they had some in stock but they were not the scents I was looking for and when I did finally find some they were all combined in a box upstairs from last year with the old leftovers mixing pine with pumpkin spice so I will wait until they get some fresh ones. They were still full price but definitely from last season. Menards is a bit of a hassle with the rebate form that I always end up forgetting to fill out. It's still fun to see what they have though!

I did so, and was led from the front door, straight-through to the back of the store, and then to the furthest corner of the store from where I had entered. Surely, I had passed all of the items ordered during this trek. The store is massive, and if you are not familiar with the layout, online ordering would seem like a good, time-saving option, but that turned out to not be the case. Not to mention (as I mention), the "convenience fee" that I was charged to do so. This might be a good option for larger orders, but for the 3 item order that I placed, I would not suggest this.

I was greeted as I walked in, and I headed for the indoor plant section. I was amazed to find the plant I had been searching for at every area nursery, African milk tree (Euphorbia trigona) There was an entire section of them, all very healthy looking and at an unbelievably inexpensive price. The information with them said that they were raised especially for Home Depot on a family farm in California, providing the family farm bio. I purchased several, and the friendly cashier mentioned that another customer had bought an entire cart full of them. I told her they were hard to find and I was very happy to find them here. So Home Depot is definitely more than a home improvement store. The next time you are looking for indoor plants be sure to check them out.

The store and merchandise are immaculate and well organized. They carry a good selection of grills, power tools and everything a hardware store should. It is noteworthy that they carry a limited selection of frozen Moody meats. Moody is my favorite local butcher. Prices were reasonable. I think the store has the best selection of funny greeting cards that I have seen anywhere. The store also offers patrons complimentary popcorn and Rivet coffee. Gourmet coffee! What a treat! In case you were wondering, my husband was able to replace the drawer bracket and my kitchen is back to normal. We even went back over to Ace and ordered another drawer bracket so we would have a backup. Benge's Ace is a great addition to the neighborhood. So disappointed at Benge's, Carmel location. It all comes down to expectations and follow through…read moreand clear communication. And in my particular experience, all three were woefully unmet. Let me start at the beginning. I call Benge's Carmel to see if they sold/serviced Stihl leaf blower/vac/shredders. Initially, I was pleasantly told no but then after some background chatter that bled thru the phone, they offered to take a look at it and said they might be able to fix it. Great! I took it in and had Bill, the resident Stihl expert, tearing it apart and troubleshooting it 45 minutes later. It appeared that it wasn't one of the first couple of easy fixes, so we agreed, that I would leave it there on that Friday, 8/21 and he would give me a call on Monday to let me know what the problem is ... likely a new carburetor is needed. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday came and went. I called in and spoke to Bill on Thursday, 8/27. Apparently, Bill got busy and was going to call me the day before but got sidetracked. Oh well, he promised he would get to it and call me back tomorrow, Friday, 8/28 (one week after I dropped it off). Friday came and went. No phone call. Almost the next three weeks came and went ... no phone call. So, I called in once more on Thursday and spoke with Neal and explained the problem of the phone - 3 weeks troubleshooting my equipment and still no communication and no follow through. none. full stop. But, wait, it gets better. Neal tells me that the assistant manager there that evening will call me back as soon as he gets off the phone. Guess what? Never called. Can't say I was surprised. So, the following day I decide to go in to the store and talk the manager since the tech, Bill, and the assistant manager both are challenged with using a phone. Surprisingly, I was able to meet and chat with Joe, the manager. Initially he seems unaware of my issue but the more details I provide to him the more he seems to be aware of the matter. We walk back to Stihl workshop area, my equipment is in pieces, and Joe, the manager, tells me that the resolution was that the repair would cost $300 and a new leaf blower/vac/shredder is $320-$400. Not surprised. I could not have been more clear in that my expectations were met NOT because it couldn't be fixed but that it was nearly one month after i dropped it off and NO ONE, not one employee, ever called to provide that information. Here is the response, i got ... from Joe, the manager, almost word for word ... "well, it is what it is ... I was out for a couple of weeks and it looks like it just didn't get done. not sure what else we can do". So there you have it. I told them not to fix it. Put it back together and I will pick it up. I will buy a new one but from someone else. Joe, the manager, stated that he would call me once it is ready for pick up. 4 days later, they found the time to put it together. I picked it up the next day, today, just now. From 8/21 to 9/23, no phone calls from Benge's Ace Hardware, Carmel location until 9/22 from Joe, the manager, to let me know that it took them one month to get around to letting me know that they couldn't fix it when the initial expectation from Bill was that he would call me on Monday, 8/24. I've never felt like I have walked into a store with more employees milling about, mostly pleasant, but with no follow through, ability to use a phone, or say, "we screwed up". Woefully disappointing experience.

The installer arrived but was unable to communicate in English, which made it very difficult to discuss the installation, ask questions, or address concerns. Communication is critical when someone is working inside your home, especially when installing an appliance that requires proper mounting and electrical safety. Even more troubling, the installation itself was poorly done and did not reflect the level of professionalism I expected from a contractor representing Home Depot. Allowing someone into your home requires trust, and this experience left me feeling uncomfortable and dissatisfied. When customers pay for professional installation through a major retailer like Home Depot, they expect qualified installers, clear communication, and quality workmanship.
