This place is an incredible place to sit and relax, which they have a lot of really specialty oriented drinks. I had to try the iced chrome latte, which is a unique blend. I believe it has agave in it, but it comes out tasting like a mocha. It was delicious. It was smooth and very refreshing. The space has potential, and I appreciate that they use real matcha. It's pungent, earthy, and strong enough to deliver a clean, creeping energy boost without coffee jitters. It doesn't necessarily taste good--it can be god-awful--but I'd rather have bold, pure matcha than a watered-down, sugar-heavy version. Beyond that, the concept feels underdeveloped. For such a large, brand-new shop, there's too much empty space and too little food: just a small display of oily, heavy, expensive pastries that don't complement the matcha. A coffee and pastry cost $17, and my second visit came to $21. That's a lot for a latte and brioche, especially when the cashier eyeballs the tablet to see whether you've tipped. If there's a functioning kitchen, they should offer fresh, healthier options--particularly raw or plant-based food suited to the vegan-friendly Los Feliz area. The blue cream topping on one signature drink was also toss-it-in-the-garbage gross, though the lemon ice water was appreciated. The outdoor tables are the most serious problem. They narrow the sidewalk enough to create a public-safety issue, forcing pedestrians--including anyone using a wheelchair--onto a broken, uplifted parkway already marked as hazardous. The sidewalk was dangerous before the tables occupied the right-of-way. They also close too early for anyone coming after work. Service is mixed: one or two employees seem knowledgeable, while the rest appear more focused on making a sale than giving clear information. I sense a simmering Gen Z entitlement among them all, currently cloaked because they're new and need customers. Overall, the matcha is strong, but the food, pricing, layout, hours and sidewalk obstruction make the shop feel unfinished and poorly considered. read more

MEMORYLOOK just opened their second location (in Hollywood) and I wanted to try them as I visited the K-town one a while back. I had a very similar experience and was kind of underwhelmed by both locations. First, the drinks are expensive. It came out to $17 for two drinks and nothing else. Second, the drinks don't justify the price. The strawberry matcha wasn't super flavorful and I asked for light cream on my cold brew einspanner but it was still a very thick amount as you can see in the photo. Third, the space isn't very comfortable or nice. There were multiple flies (some dead) by the table we sat at and the tables are tiny and I kept kicking it accidentally because of the shape. Lastly, street parking is difficult to find in this area and it's not the nicest area to be in either. Overall not a great experience and don't see myself coming back here. read more

EVERYTHING WAS 10/10!! I cannot wait to go back. There was a parking structure across the street that I think it did say retail parking that's where we park and there's also street parking. We visited the location on Sunday morning. I got helped by Richard and it seemed like he was the only barista! But he was patient and very helpful when I told him it was my first time and I did not know what to try, but wanted to try a few items since I was there with a group. Great addition to the neighborhood! Large airy coffee+matcha+pastry(+sunglasses) shop, beautiful ambiance, the option of outdoor seating. I tried and loved the einspanner (cream top) latte and the einspanner matcha. The cream top is lightly sweet and very tasty. They recommend iced if you get the einspanner as the cream will dissolve more quickly in hot drinks. They also have standard coffee drinks which I will try next, as well as plentiful non-caffeinated options. I also tried the pecan roll - SO GOOD!!!!! A soft, donut-like cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting and candied pecans. It will be difficult for me to not get these every day. So many delicious looking donut-y pastries to try here, if they're all as good as the pecan roll, well, I know where my desserts will be coming from for a while. I hope they consider staying open late as their other location does!!!! It would be awesome to have a spot to hang out at night on that corner. I came the other day and this might now be my new go-to spot for matcha + lattes. The drink: I had a delicious cold brew einspanner (I may have spelled that wrong). I usually get the matcha one. Will update once I do. The space: clean and minimal, yet somehow also inviting. Outlets available if you need to work! Also, big windows to look outdoors. Location + parking: I love the corner spot that it's in and they have some outdoor seating as well. Street parking can be challenging as anywhere on the boulevard is. Luckily, I'm close enough to walk here. Final consensus/best coffeeshop in the area: MEMORYLOOK and bread and butter are my favorite ones in the area to get work done. They have a similar aesthetic. B&B has comfier chairs but I personally prefer the location and atmosphere where memorylook is. Therefore, this may be my new go-to coffeeshop for the area. read more
