So happy with my funky new Prada progressive, bifocal, cat eye glasses. I can see far and read again!
Michelle B.

Keith, the owner of SunOptics really knows his stuff. My prescription is thick, I have a small face and I wanted a funky frame. After trying on a few different styles, (he has a zillion frames and different prices) he pulled out this Prada frame and I was hooked. They have a light tortoise coloring on the front of the cat eye, the sides are maroon, and the inside is maroon, black and white. Keith is fun to talk with, listened to my concerns and got my glasses back in time before vacation. It's an added plus having an optician measure my eye placement for my bifocal lenses. I'll be back again with my husband soon!

I went to visit Keith @SunOptics. I must say, he know what he's doing. I bought a pair of Tom Ford sunglass from him and he help me renew 2 pair of my sunglasses. Very happy!

Despite our disappointing experiences at this location, time constraints forced us to give them another try. We arrived just as they opened. Our daughter already knew which glasses she wanted. She checked in and was first in the queue. A couple minutes later Valerie called us up to the counter. She had the glasses our daughter selected and began her order. She walked us through each step of the process, highlighting important details while patiently answering all our questions. Valerie also easily handled the prescription update for the sunglasses. She re-confirmed our daughter's address and phone number for the shipment, pointing out that although the receipt notes "Pick-Up", her glasses will be shipped. Later while having lunch across the way at Din Tai Fung, our daughter said she thinks her prescription may have been entered wrong. She felt bad about having to double check, but we wanted to be sure. After lunch she walked over to see Valerie again. Although it was busy, Valerie took the time to pull her orders, explain what our daughter saw and confirm that her prescription is accurate. It was a great experience today, thanks to Valerie!

He re-bent the frame so it was straight again, replaced the nose pads without me asking, and gave them a full clean. By the end, they honestly looked and felt brand new. What I appreciated most was how easy and genuine the whole interaction felt. When I asked how much I owed, he just smiled and said not to worry about it. Simple, great service like that goes a long way. Thank you again, Anthony.

I'm an aging guy, on a limited budget, who went from decades of scraping by with non-prescription…read morereaders to finally accepting that I needed four pairs of specialized prescription glasses--for reading, for sitting in front of computers for hours on end, and for distance both indoors and outdoors (sunglasses). After resisting wearing glasses for so long, and, let's face it, being a little vain, I wasn't a good candidate for progressives despite the practical and economic considerations. Trying to wrap my head around an expanding universe of frames and lenses in every shape and price range after being so resistant for so long was overwhelming. I'd gone to all the usual suspect shops in Old Town Pasadena, where parking is always a challenge, as is finding a knowledgeable and caring employee working on an hourly wage, without coming close to making a purchase. One day I was driving down Colorado Boulevard, stopped at a light, when I spied Brighter Optical and its spacious, free parking lot. I'd never heard of the shop, but thought why not, I might as well give it a shot. I was warmly greeted by owner Raymond Yu himself. I immediately felt comfortable in his small but well-stocked shop. Then I was immersed in a lengthy consultation with someone who had unlimited patience for my long list of questions, who spoke in soothing tones that put me even more at ease. It was so much better talking to an owner with a lifetime of experience and the ability to negotiate multiple purchases than an hourly employee with no real stake in the outcome. Not only did Raymond know everything there was to know about frames and lenses, he knew how to break it all down into easily digestible concepts that I could grasp even though English is just one of the languages he speaks fluently. Better yet, he filtered all that knowledge into personalized recommendations which rang so true I had no qualms about pulling the trigger on the sale. When the dust settled, Brighter Optical had a customer for life, while I came away with four pairs of flattering glasses for every purpose that exceeded the most fervent hope I had for my budget--and a new friend.

I really love this shop. It's a complete hidden gem! I've been "visually challenged" since the age…read moreof eight. So I've literally been wearing some sort of corrective lens (glasses and contacts) for 35 years. The most difficult part for me was ALWAYS finding frames that fit me - my must have #1. That means I need nose pads. Then, I look at style - sad, right? So I wore contact lens FOREVER... I loathed whenever I had to go get new glasses. Well, not since a few years now. We come to this shop ALL the time. My AWESOME Poloroid polarized sunglasses are from here (with custom nose pads). Now that wearing glasses is back in style, YAY!! I thought there would be more selection now. NOPE, I was wrong. The trendy glasses now are large and round and I can't wear that style at all (I cannot wear most plastic frames w/o custom nose pads installed - which can be done at Monterey Park Optical! I bought my Tom Ford frames at a crazy low price at Costco and brought them to Mr. Ling (the optometrist - he's licensed in Taiwan, but since he opened this store, he only "fills eye glass prescriptions" - but he sees everything an optometrist does. He even double checks my family's prescriptions before he "fills" it, our whole family comes here and I refer people here whenever I can, since they are the best I've found so far. I'm almost positive that a prescription "re-check" is NOT a service he offers to other people (since he only has a Taiwanese License to practice Optometry). Mr. Ling and his wife Janet, yes, this is a "mom and pop" boutique eyewear shop. They have frames to fit all budgets. Never before have I found a pair of glasses that I liked and could stand up to my vigorous usage. I have seizure disorder, so I've ruined many pairs of glasses by falling over and breaking them (which is what happened to my Tom Ford light brown frames you see me wearing in some photos). I used my glasses all day, every day from when I wake up to when I go to sleep. Mr. Ling, the owner, himself wears an amazing looking Teal colored pair of glasses. I HAD to know what the brand was. His wife Janet also had amazing looking glasses. I realized fairly quickly that this store was a boutique store. Mr. Ling was wearing Silhouette Eyewear from Austria. His wife Janet was wearing an amazing pair of rose gold/pink glasses that are from Japan. And NO, they DO NOT carry COACH - Thank God... I can't stand Coach. And neither can they! Why? Because they don't think that the quality of Coach frames are good enough for what Coach wants to charge. I realized that Mr. Ling and his wife Janet scour the WORLD for eye wear. I ended up getting a pair of Silhouette's as well. I looked up their website: www.silhouette.com/us/en/home/ and found out that they have designer collections. Nope, I can't afford the $20,000 (yes, $20k for glasses!) 18kt solid gold pairs with 72 VS1 diamonds (last collection. Current collection is round colorful and plastic frames - no clue on price) and Monterey Park Optical said the glasses were beautiful, but each pair was $20k. Crazy! They have the 23kt thick gold plated frames there w/Schwarovki crystals for about $1000. Bling is not my style, and I had zero probs finding glasses here. Monterey Park Optical has all the brands you would want, Gucci, Burberry, Prada, etc. But their specialty is finding companies from all over the world that make only eye wear. When I saw Janet's glases, I asked her if the Japanese frames came with springs on the hinges. She literally took off her pair of glasses and pulled it into a straight line. So each link (that I thought was a fashion thing) was a spring. My Tom Ford glasses broke because of a recent seizure and the frames cracked when the side of my head hit the floor. The lenses were still good but had a scratch in the coating (they were expensive transitions lenses that had every kind of coating that you could buy). I literally only had to buy the frames and Mr. Ling installed the frames for me. He noticed the scratch and pointed it out to me, letting me know that once the coating is scratched there's no way to fix it. My mom tried to save money by doing the same thing that I did - just replace the frame, but her lenses were too scratched up. However, that didn't stop Mr. Ling from doing it for my mom anyway, even though the lenses needed replacing (in my opinion, Mr. Ling said, "if it's too scratched, bring it back". So about two days after my mom got her glasses back with the scratched lenses, she ended up going in and ordering new lenses. Mr. Ling and Janet know us well, all my family comes here and all my mom's friends. We love them! I have found my eyeglass heaven. I don't need to go anywhere else from now on! I literally don't want to go anywhere else. I can't find a better shop, nor better educated owners who care about the quality of glasses and their customer and not flashy names. Trust me, flashy name brands are generally cheaper than QUALITY. I love my Austrian glasses!!

Every year, I'd get my eye exam elsewhere, uploaded my prescription and placed my order with Warby…read more I have ordered contacts from Warby back in 2020/2021 and the subsequent years just glasses from them because it was faster to get my contacts directly from my optometrist. I've been very pleased with their glasses. However, this year I decided to have my eye exam with Warby (Pasadena location). It was a huge mistake. Prior to the exam, the technician gathered basic information and then took digital retinal images (six total). Then I had my eye exam with the doctor. The retinal images were not reviewed or discussed during the exam and I forgot to ask about them. That's not how it should be done. At all of previous eye exams, my optometrist always review the retinal images with me regarding my eye health. Anyways, the doctor said my vision hasn't changed so my prescription will be the same. So they checked me out and I placed my contacts order too. A few days later the contacts arrived and that's when I discovered the contacts don't match my current prescription (expired January 2026). Instead, they match the prescription from 2020/2021. The new contacts I received is based off of a prescription from 2020/2021. Warby only has my contacts prescription from 2020/2021, which I had uploaded back then to order contacts. Since then the newer prescriptions that they have on record are for glasses only. It appears that from this eye exam with Warby, they simply created a new prescription based off of my 2020/2021 prescription. All the numbers (lens power, etc.) are identical. Warby gave me an old and wrong prescription and the imaging was never even discussed and refusing to issue a refund.

Solid option for affordable frames. Good for budget shoppers or those looking for a second backup…read morepair. I've been curious about Warby Parker for a few years, but finally decided to try them out. I made my appointment online for the optometrist and found the check in procedure very streamlined when I arrived. They wiped down each piece of equipment after I used it where it made contact with my face, so everything seemed hygienic, though there was some dust through the office (-1 star). The selection of frames was fairly stylish and the associated Athenas was very helpful in finding a good fit. The frames and lenses are budget-friendly (don't expect high end flex titanium or hingeless designs). They provide transitional and other standard lens coatings for a good price. Do note that they do laser mark your lenses, so that might be an issue with some people who think the letter is a smear.

And I decided to get their super cool black framed small aviator shape Chrome Hearts glasses instead :) Hugo is fantastic with his patient help and politeness the whole time to me. Love that. Highly recommend Hugo and Rowena who are my fav people here. Haha :) I'm just not a fan of the manager here who is too strict to me for no reason when every customer is different. Whatever payment beef that the manager here had in the past due to other customers in the ways they paid you, does not reflect on me. I have only arrived recently after those past certain customers to only give my money to you here, manager. I don't appreciate you being quite appallingly strict to me with your so called new policy on how customers need to/should pay you/your company here. How I can't Zelle your company to pay because I can't be driving out here when I'm coming from the Manhattan Beach area. Unless you want to pay for my gas, manager. Tbh, my Honorable Dad warned me to not shop from here because he can actually prior prophecy read the cons of everything here. But I love only 2 people here who have given me best customer services asap I called and walked in. But when it comes to the way I'm forced to pay by the manager is not only ridiculous to me but also a huge disrespect to me. Especially being that they have no idea who I Royally am. Fact is.. I am Royally from both my parents of The famous Tribes of Levi and Judah which is connected to my famous KJV Bible ancestors from Enoch, Noah, Shem, Abraham, Ezekiel, King David, King Solomon, King David's son Nathan, Nathan's daughter Mary, and of course, The One and Only Creator of the whole universe and beyond Messiah Savior Lord God Jesus. I'm also Royally from 5 famous China Dynasties: Li, Shang, Zhou, Song, and Ming. I'm also Royally from The Great King Taksin of Thailand. And I'm also from ALL Kings/Ramas 1-10 currently of Thailand. Therefore, manager here should know their place of highest respect and honor with Me. And apparently manager here does not. Do better, much better, manager.
