My nephew wanted to go here and swore up and down this place has the best "grilled cheese" sandwiches. I rolled my eyes and agreed to take him. The cashier encouraged me to order the Oinker and I'm so glad I did!! Let's start with the FRESH potato chips they make in house! Add in some Gorgonzola dip and my mind was blown, or so I thought until my sandwich came out. The Oinker had all the things going on. Pulled Pork, Bacon, Mac and Cheese.... OMG was that delicious!!! Will I end up having a heart attack from eating this delicious monstrosity? Probably! Did I eat a week's worth of calories in one sitting? Wouldn't surprise me! But was this the best "grilled cheese" sandwich I've ever had in my entire life? Yes..... yes it was!! read more

Walked in this afternoon and was greeted kindly by the owner/manager asking if it was our first time. Being that it was, they hooked us up with their chips which were so good! The staff doted on us the entire time, wrapping up our food to go, making sure we had all we need, etc. I ordered the cubano, which was amazing! The pork had such great flavor! My son got the oinker and a side of Mac n cheese. Everything was delicious! I brought half of mine home for my husband and he loved it too. It heated up nicely in the air fryer. This place is pretty neat. Lots of cheesy options. Got the ultimate meltz mainly because of the award. Kind of has a lot going on. Very good, but really have to like Gorgonzola and goat cheese. The owner is there greeting everyone and asking people how they like the food. He is very friendly and polite! The place is very clean and new! They have been open for about 2.5 months now. I had the half is it Called " oinker"? I forgot! But it has so much in it! Their potato chips are made from scratch - potato's peeled and fried in house every hour. place sucks,made with the cheapest, neon-orange cheese slices you can find. The bread is stale, practically crumbling as you try to spread margarine--not butter, mind you--across its surface. Grilled unevenly, one side is burnt to a crisp while the other remains pale and sad. The cheese barely melts, clinging stubbornly to the bread. Each bite is a textural nightmare: crunchy, chewy, and vaguely artificial. Okay, here's a review for that spot: im not sure where to begin with this place. From the moment I walked in, it was clear the staff would rather be anywhere else. The host seemed bothered to seat me, and the server acted like every request was a personal affront. My food arrived cold after an unreasonable wait. Save yourself the frustration and dine elsewhere. Seriously, avoid this place like the plague. read more

My first impression was a bit underwhelming. The eating area is small and simply furnished. While waiting to order, you can sample the chips a dipping sauces. You order at a counter and pay for your food. You are given drink cups and a number sign for your table. Drinks are from a self-service station. Depending on how busy, you can pick up your food when your number is called or the food is delivered to your table. We have eaten here a few times. I have tried three sandwiches: American Oozie!, Cubano, and Rooben Evolooshon (minus kraut). The sandwiches are so good that I have already picked out my next sandwich. I like to pair a half sandwich with their excellent soup. The house made chips are nicely crisp. Made even better when paired with their dipping sauces. The people are very helpful and provide excellent service. We will be back often. read more

Arrived eager to try something new and ended up shocked at the extreme cost of bread and cheese! $18 for a caprese sandwich (no meat at all) and another $4 for a fountain drink. Then I waited for over 30 minutes while my grilled cheese was made. When I still had no lunch after 30 minutes, I inquired. Apparently they had either forgotten my order or had given it to someone else. It was remade and the manager gave me a coupon for a future visit (half sandwich), which I appreciate, but as I sat looking around, there were many filled tables with NO FOOD. In the meantime, another customer had to take a sandwich back for receiving the wrong order and was told by the employee at the register that he hadn't ordered avocado (though he had most certainly been charged for it). When my sandwich finally arrived, it was fresh and the flavors were quite good. I'd say management still needs to get several things dialed in. My first time to visit Meltz..Food was served quickly, and was piping hot. Family owned, very friendly staff. It's not a franchise, only 2 other locations. I had the three cheese, was good. Side of chips are included. My friend had the cheese adding pastrami. He enjoyed it so much, he took half to go. RUN! GO THERE NOW! It's Freaking GREAT! Their menu is unbelievable, and the couple that owns the place are super nice and very hard-working! Seriously, you've never seen a menu like theirs. I appreciate the free samples by the register, too. That's a nice touch. They have fountain drinks, so you can get more soda when you want to. If I lived closer, I'd be broke and weigh 300 pounds! Ok my peeps listen up. I generally don't do any local restaurant reviews because...why. Needless to say I have found a gem of a place. I have NEVER in my entire 55 years loved a sandwich as much as this. I ordered the "Rooben" and my better half ordered the "simpleton" minus bacon. The Roobens rye was the perfect crispy that made the pastrami and pickled onions actually give me a mouthgasim. Once I was done with the "When Harry met Sally" deli scene, I asked how my wife's sandwich was. She said that her sandwich was awesome and loved how the sweet tomatoes went with the pepper jack cheese and garlic chicken. The staff was amazing and courteous. Food came out in time and right temperature. Lost a point because they had a lockdown on their napkins and no utensils. My wife got the traditional breakfast - she loved the local links and flaky biscuit - I think it was peach marmalade - not sure, but it was LEGIT. I got the pozole roja (I think that's the menu name) and - yo, it was the best pozole I've had. The ingredients were plenty, the chicken was tender and flavorful, they put the radishes, cilantro and cabbage on the side for you to add so it's not soggy. Sourdough was so good to dip - mouth is watering writing this. Service th morning we were headed out at 7amish was great also - wife got coffee cake (warmed in their brick oven) and I got two citrus muffins and a sourdough cinnamon roll for later - all were scrumptious and delightful. I would got a half dozen muffins if I knew they were that good before. People were kind and the service is quick. We ate there these two time on $52 dollars - both to-go orders. Set in an old home, this establishment has become one of Bend's favorite restaurants. The menus have range with breakfast by far being my favorite. However, their pizzas are spectacular and I've never had a pastry yet that I didn't really enjoy. They serve coffee from a local roaster called Lone Pine. The staff is always extremely friendly and I have frequently positive interactions with them when I stop by. Prices are reasonable, and the food is very high-quality while also being consistently fresh. Parking can be a challenge at times, but it's always worth the effort. Not to mention a chance for a nice stroll around downtown Bend after my meal... just the perfect end to complement a perfect day here in this lovely place. Thank you Jackson's corner for being a staple in this community and consistently making every meal here a little bit more joyful.

What they should be doing is turning the heat down and baking longer. Every oven is different. Experiment until you get it perfect and then do not vary. The top should be golden.
