It's not very often that I go to Sandy and so when I went to the mall and there was a Melty Way, I was intrigued. I was stuck between the Patty Melt or the BBQ Brisket Melt and the cashier recommended the bbq. I liked that I was given a little buzzer so I could go off and wait with the rest of my party elsewhere. The bread was crispy and evenly browned, the meat was tender and there was lots of sauce but the actual flavor profile I thought was lacking. The Sweet Baby Ray's overpowered the caramelized onions and cheese which I was looking forward to. The dining area in itself is really nice and was very clean. Came with my family and they all got their food and finished it before mine was ready and I ordered before them. The guy at the register couldn't add the regular cheddar as extra cheese because he said it came with white cheddar. That's fine but I wanted to add yellow as well. The manager did not talk to another lady who was waiting an hour. They need new staff. This is the cheese they put on it. The manager was rude and the boy at the register was just incompetent. The Melty Way food truck came to my work today, so I decided to try it out! I got the chicken avocado and even though it smelled really good, the taste definitely fell short. The sandwich had A LOT of mayo on it.. kinda felt like I was eating a mayo sandwich with little bits of chicken. I could barely taste anything else. The chicken was cut into little chunks and was definitely very processed. My sandwich came with potato chips and the sandwich with the chips cause the whole meal to be very greasy. The customer service was AWEFUL. Three employees behind the counter and while the obe male employee was working the two females were just standing around talking. I ordered a bowl of tomato basil soup and a root beer float. It took them 10 min to get me my soup and they even forgot my root beer float. One of the females that couldnt stop her convo b4 ended up making my float but decided half way through that it was taking too long so she filled one cup with root beer and one with ice cream and gave them both to me to do it myself. But everyday and every situation is different and I thought this place was good enough for a quick service counter restaurant. The employees were very nice and had no problems answering my questions of providing me things like extra napkins and utensils. And my sandwich was very good and plentiful. Wow, where do you even start with this place...Melty Way is all the bad qualities of a food truck...long lines and over priced food...and none of the benefits like good quality food, energetic staff, etc. I really need to start keeping track of how long it takes from getting in line to getting my food. This was a new record. Behind about five people I started my journey. In the meantime my girlfriend ran over and got a smoothie from another place and came back. While she was gone I moved approximately one person forward. At least fifteen minutes later I finally had my sandwich, soup, and fries. I wanted the home made chips as well, the guy even told me that I didn't need to order them on the side as they came with every sandwich, but alas I didn't get any. I filled up on some sauces, and finally made my way back to our table. I ordered a turkey bacon - Aged cheddar, creamy havarti, roasted turkey, and scrumptious bacon...Sounds like you couldn't go wrong, right? While it didn't go wrong, it definitely didn't go right. So that was strike one. Strike two came while eating the freshly unfrozen shoestring fries. They were as you would expect, bland and unflavored. The only saving grace for them was the good sauces they have. I used them to deliver copious amounts of sauce to my mouth, as that was the only great part of the meal. The soup was a water/broccoli/cheddar. Really watery, not creamy at all like other broccoli cheddar soups, and again just boring. The real kicker though is that I paid $14+ for what I got. $14 for a lousy sandwich, watery soup, and freezer fries. I got a drink as well, but that was long finished by the time I had my food. I'm 99% sure I could go to the grocery store, buy better cheese/meat, drive home, put some bacon on the grill, start up my grilled cheese, make some fresh fries, and drive to the beach to enjoy my better meal in less time than this place took. read more

If I could rate this no stars I would, because employees were rude as fuck, especially the manager. I ordered a FULL sandwich and who ever took my order clearly didn't listen to me and only charged me half. I didn't noticed until I got my order, which I waited about a good half an hour. I went back and tried explaining to them and ask if I could get the other half and they wanted to charge me the difference. I don't understand why would I have to pay for the difference when I already waited for 30 minutes. I explained that to the manager and he literally said, "so what do you want?" I just walked away because I was already mad and didn't want to cause a scene. My friend and her boyfriend were with me and I wasn't the only one that was having a problem. All of us waited in total like almost a full hour for our food. So when she and her boyfriend ordered they both wanted full sandwiches and they charged her one full sandwich and one half sandwich and they noticed after and they asked if they could get two full sandwiches and they were happy to help with that but instead of charging for the other half they charged her for another whole sandwich. It's terrible because I've been coming here for a long time and I never had problems but now I'm just not too sure about it. I couldn't decide between the ham and swiss, chicken parmigiana or cheese. I got the cheese. I was so impressed!! There was a TON of cheese on this sandwich. I can't speak for the Southtowne Mall location of this place, but every food truck of Melty Way I've encountered has been a great experience. Staff is friendly and helps make me feel appreciated. The sandwiches are super yummy! And it's very cool that they offer free sauces and containers for them. You get a drink, chips and a bad ass sandwich. Legitimately disappointing. Our choice of food truck today was Melty Way. After a co-worker sent me the link to their menu, we both salivated with anticipation for 11am. We arrived early enough that there wasn't much of a wait in line. The man who helped us was pleasant and helpful. The reference to choosing whether we would like to tip was tacky but not unique to the food truck business (are we going to be expected to tip at McDonald's sooner than later?). I was lucky enough that the sandwich that I had coveted on the web page's menu was one of the choices at the food truck. After waiting about 20+ minutes or so, I got my sandwich. I can assure you, it will be the last sandwich I probably ever get from Melty Way. Every sandwich pictured shows a cascade of cheese oozing from two slices of bread. I would expect nothing less from a grilled cheese specialty restaurant. My sandwich? It had a slice of cheese on it, sure. A...slice. It's not unusual to get a product that doesn't look the same as the menu but I've gotten cheesier grilled cheeses from school lunches. Additionally, the turkey sandwich showed thick slices of turkey topped by peppery bacon. I suppose my bacon was as good as I should have expected but my turkey was some cubed bubble meat that completely disappointed. This was not anything near to what had been touted. Oh well. Lesson learned. There are other sandwich places nearby that may also be mediocre but I won't have to spend my lunch waiting for them. It takes a lot for me to leave a review, I live by the rule that people generally mean well. But I feel so legitimately robbed by this place that I can't leave it be. $5 for a kids meal that claims to include a "toy," which we didn't get in either of the kids meals ordered, and the meal likely cost the company (in time and effort) $1 to throw onto a plate. (I mean the grilled cheese was so bland that my five year old commented on it...) Take some pride in your presentation! What the food looks like on the menu and in person are wildly unrelated. I ordered a chef salad that claimed to have turkey, avocado and bacon, but there was no bacon at all and the photo shows avocado while I got a small dipping cup of guacamole on the side. Really poor experience that proves a graphic designer and some marketing can entice people, but when it boils down, quality can't hide behind a pretty logo and spiced-up menu. read more

I thought I'd give this place a try. Everything on the menu looked great. I waited ten minutes, with no line, until one of the two guys working came over and took my order. I then waited 15 more minutes dir that same guy to cook my order, along with a couple others. I then waited another 5 minutes, food in hand, for the save guy to convince the other guy to come and ring me up. The young Hispanic guy knew his stuffand was doing his best. I decided to try the 4 cheese melt with ham and a small cup of chicken noodle soup and my girlfriend got the Rueben with a couple of drinks. First it almost rang up to $30 which was a little unexpected but I didn't think we were over charged or anything. Got the food and my grilled ham and cheese had one 4" diameter, 1/8 thick slice of ham folded in half on it. That was it. It was a total let down. The Rueben ended up being too soggy to even finish. The chicken noodle soup wasn't bad, but it wasn't enough to save the meal by a long shot. Not a good value for your money by any stretch. read more

This place really should be a stand along restaurant not in a mall food court. You don't get to see all of their flavored mayo's which really make the sandwiches and they charge you extra for them instead of it just being self serve. The staff there also doesn't seem to care and the food isn't made very well. They should've kept their location in Fort Union or they should move to one of the empty store fronts in Sandy. Makes me sad because I used to love Melty Way but this location has ruined it for me with all the bad sandwiches I have been given. read more
