"Small" calzone...
Kara B.

Typical dive bar.... But with REALLY good food! I got the mushroom burger and it was very good. My husband got the wings which were excellent and the "small" calzone that was big enough to feed a small army. Heal prices, and good food! The only con for me was that they allow smoking. Luckily we went for lunch so it wasn't very busy or Smokey.

Steamed shrimp special on Fridays only $10 for 1 lb!

Note - they smoke INSIDE here! But, it's updated and clean, great burgers, and cold beer. You decide!

Never made it past the front door because the cigarette smell smacked us in the face as soon as we opened the door.

Unwelcoming bartender. In a bar business, the bartender can make or break it. I wouldn't go back.

I had read reviews on Google - looked for a top-rated restaurant near McCabe Funeral Home in Ligonier. - SO happy we tried !! Shane was great as our bartender/server (decided to enjoy bar seating vs dining room seating). Tuesday is live entertainment night ! bonus !! Awesome berry martini cocktail w local farm-made blueberry lemonade;). Had the HOT , delicious and hearty sherry mushroom soup as starter ( next time I buy a quart to take home ) I had the Thai shrimp and scallops - VERY tasty and nicely presented! My husband had the caesar salad w added seared tuna ( he had leftovers ). No room for dessert today. I already know what I'm ordering next time I visit ! The one hour 15 minute drive east will be totally worth it !!! Owner ?? Stopped by to see how we enjoyed our visit and expressed her gratitude for us stopping. Lovely time

After spending a beautiful day leaf watching, we found our way to Ligonier. Immediately, we thought…read moreof The Gray Goose restaurant. Our server, Lynn greeted us and seated us in the dining room. She gave us menus and took our drink orders. We were thinking about an appetizer however, we saw cake delivered to a nearby table. The server described them and we both thought to skip the appetizer and save room for desserts. So, we went directly into the main course. The pork tenderloin with pierogis and Brussels sprouts. And a wagyu smash burger with fries. WOW! Delicious. We can easily recommend both dinners. And the menu has many more choices worthy of a great dinner. Our server, Lynn was attentive and made our dinner enjoyable. Thank you very much. BTW, after dinner we were so full however, we took the Goose Cake and Pumpkin Bundt Cake home for later.

We stopped after visiting the NHP - it's a quick walk from the junction of C&O and GAP. I've worked in restaurants - this place is top notch. We had both soups - a GF chicken noodle soup and a vegan kale & artichoke (coconut) cream soup. The flavors were incredible. You can tell they spend a lot of time perfecting their soup. We also had sushi, a Tuna Maki roll and a California roll. The California roll was GF because they use ACTUAL (Maryland) crab instead of surimi. It was super good. Super. Service was easy with both paper menus, or a convenient ordering screen. They have a full bar, too. They have tables as well as couch/chair area. You can get self-service water, too. Super comfy and welcoming.

This time I was passing by at dinner time so checked it out. It was Trivia Night so I opted for outside at one of the small 3 patio tables. The street has an outdoor dining vibe with two other restaurants also with outdoor seating. You put in your order at the bar (at least this Wednesday night) with a welcoming bartender on easy check list for sushi and ramen. I was stopping on the late side and those finishing their meals were clearly enjoying themselves. Many knew each other across tables as lots of stopping by for chats among friends. The pork belly in the ramen was definitely my jam as it had a crunchy top with easy to come apart pieces. Definitely the highlight. Not nearly as big a fan of the Asian greens which fell into almost a paste, the mushrooms not looking like they were fresh (to be fair there is a shiitake option I missed), and the smoked eggplant a little too chewy. And I took a flyer on the "special broth" without asking what it was so that is on me. But the really dark perhaps cinnamon infused (don't hold me to it) version was not something for me. The noodles were ample but not plentiful and were legit. So I think I'd opt for Nori instead of Asian greens next time and go with more traditional toppings. But definitely endorse the pork belly. I tried a smoked eggplant sushi role as something new. Just fine, I've tried it but I'll try another combo they have next time. And I know the economics are tough these days and specialty roles are routinely low teens in cost, but I'd suggest a two tier pricing scheme rather than $13.00 for one with a single ingredient and just 6 rather than normally 8 for specialty rolls. Glad I stopped and I will again to try some of the other fare. Just may be a little more traditional in my choices next time.
