Mayfield At The Capitol Hotel - Bread with pesto butter

Seasonal selections had so many choices I didn't even look at the main menu. Bread was crunchy on the outside while being soft and hot on the inside. Pesto butter was a nice change up. Scallops were perfectly seared, great texture on the risotto. Can't wait to try another dish!

When the hostess asked me where I wanted to sit, I said someplace cooler. She did a great job of putting me under a ceiling fan. Kudos! My waitress was super helpful. I asked for her favorite cocktail -yes pressure- what she suggested was five stars. I may have ordered a second! The Mayfield sandwich was to have a mustard base. I did not taste that in the least. I asked for mayo which helped the sandwich. The onion rings were the best I had in a long time-yes, I ate them all. The service was great. Who I think mixed the drinks checked on me- that was nice. It was a good restaurant to stop at when in the area.

No trip to Seven Springs is complete without a stop at Summit Diner. It creates the eternal…read moredilemma: hit the slopes for first chair or settle in for a Summit breakfast? If you follow my reviews, you know I'm a fan of old-school diners, the classics, and honest home-cooked food. Summit hits all three marks, serving straightforward and delicious American standards since the 1960s. The three-egg omelet loaded with veggies and sausage was exactly the pre-ski power-up I needed. My son stuck with his go-to breakfast burrito, and my daughter went with the classic two eggs, bacon, and potatoes. Everything was spot on. The staff has just the right level of "WWA"--Waitresses With Attitude. They are perfectly polite, but they hold the line on proper behavior and will quickly put anyone in their place if they step out of line. It keeps the environment grounded and authentic. A few tips for your visit: * Seating: Expect to wait for a table in the lobby or outside during peak hours. * Payment: Bring your wallet--this is a cash-only establishment.

They staff is fast and friendly and the food doesn't disappoint. It's such a rare thing in this day and age to see an old diner so we love to go when we are visiting Somerset. We typically go for breakfast. The next time you're in the area it's definitely a must stop place to go. Give them a try and you may have to wait to be seated they also only accept cash as their only form of payment so come prepared, they do have a ATM in the waiting area.

Upon arrival, we were confused because its in the bottom of a large building that looks like a hotel/apt building. The building is a 55+ over alt building but the restaurant is open to the public. The food was really good and affordable! Most of our group ordered breakfast but a few ordered the open faced hot roast beef sandwich which looked amazing and they said it was good. I ordered an omelette which came with home fries or hash browns and toast-the portion was pretty large for $8.99. Unfortunately we were all starving and didn't take any pictures. But, I would recommend this little hidden gem if in the area and you want a good homestyle meal.

You take to the food delivery apps in hopes of something that might be able to feel that hunger void. I wanted something that would fill my void and I wouldn't think about food for the rest of the evening. I kept going through the apps, pizza, wings, fast food, fast casual, then I saw this place. Graystone doesn't have a huge menu, but what they do have on the menu covers just about every niche you would want. Appetizers, dinners, sandwiches, the usual normal stuff to find. I made sure that I went over the whole menu before I was happy with my decision. I got both an appetizer and dinner, just so I could taste the two sides of the menu. For the appetizer I went with the fries with cheddar and bacon. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. You can tell that the fries are frozen and you can tell that there wasn't really much thought put into this than to add it to the menu as a quick appetizer. It says cheddar, and when you think of that you think cheddar sauce, it's not. Simply a handful of cheddar thrown on top with some fresh cooked bacon. Wouldn't be bad with the cheddar, but it basically hardened over the fries. Making you to really have to get in there with your hands and get messy with it. When it came to my dinner, I was not disappointed in the least. As soon as I saw meatloaf on the menu I did not have a second thought about it. I will always go with the meatloaf, especially if it is my first time trying the place. When you order a dinner you get your choice of two sides and a dinner roll. To keep the meal "homestyle" I went with mashed potatoes and stuffing for my side. Of course they made sure there was gravy. The meatloaf itself was a huge piece, one that easily takes up half of the plate. This also isn't one of those skinny pieces, on top of it taking over half the plate, it is like a double slice or triple slice when compared to other places. I added the gravy on top and I was off. The gravy definitely added to it and combatted the dryness that you encounter sometimes. I really enjoyed the edges, it had that hardened crunch to it that, when combined with the crumbliness, gave you different textures. It was a decent blend of spices, peppers, and onions giving this meatloaf top marks. The sides, let's talk about them. The stuffing, probably not homemade. A bit salty, kind of having some of those same flavors as the meatloaf. The potatoes, I want to think they were homemade. I did come across some lumps, which made me think that. With the gravy, of course it made it a connected meal. The bun, frozen, store bought, but it was a nice way to clean the plate from gravy. Overall, it was a great meal and was definitely feeling. A note as to where this is located in the Johnstown area. It is street level on the senior high rise near Walmart and Richland High School. Most people wouldn't know there is a restaurant there, but you should try it.

I was sad to hear they only serve chicken and waffles at breakfast. WHYYY??!!! Please add this to lunch and dinner. Our waitress was on point. Super friendly and refilled the sweet tea before it got halfway. I ordered the famous fried chicken and was pretty happy with the food. The baked potato was fine, it was just on the smaller size (4inches long it was literally the length of my size 6 lady finger). Mac and cheese was good, It did have some black spots but I chalk it up to coming in a 730pm. The roll was bland would not recommend. My fiance ordered the BBQ sandwich and onion rings. He is particular and was also very happy with his food. The other thing I would say is consider changing the hours. Closing at 8pm is insane, at least 4 tables arrived at 745pm! I say this because I know the competition is Martinsburg Family and that is open 24/7 I would reconsider the hours. I'm certain since the food was good you could justify a 10pm closure time but I'm just giving an opinion. I'd still go back.
