Tiny little local bar that serves huge tacos! Definitely delicious tacos and sandwiches. Tacos are available small or large. We ordered a large grilled chicken taco and a steak hoagie. We shared both and it was perfect! We also ordered fries, which were adequate, reminded me of Mc Donald's fries. Washed it all down with a couple of Yeungling drafts and it was a really good Saturday afternoon lunch. The staff was super nice and the owner came out to ask if it was good and shook my hand, thanking me for coming in. This is one of the cleanest dive bars I've been in and I highly recommend giving them a try. No derelicts were at the bar, there was even a family having lunch there with a young boy. This place is a GEM! Tiny hole in the wall bar that is family run and operated. Walk in and you're immediately greeted and treated like family. The food is simple but always tasty. The tacos are best in town. Prices are great too! Be warned, on Tomahawks home game hockey nights this place gets packed QUICKLY. There's only 6-7 tables that seat 5 people max. We were in town for a wedding this past weekend. Scott's was easy walking distance from our hotel. We went here 2 nights in a row and had great experiences both nights. It's a smaller bar that's very clean with a hometown feel. Trevor was the bartender both nights, hes a great bartender, very welcoming and friendly. I'm a bit behind on my reviews, but I am getting there with getting the ones out there that have been sitting here waiting to get written. Scott's by Dam is one such one that has just been sitting there and marinating. Scott's has been in my 'to try' section for some time. I honestly had no idea where this was in the Johnstown, but bookmarked it a long time ago. In the beginning of March I owed my baby sister a lunch for her birthday. We both finally had a day off to get together. I asked her where she wanted to go and she picked this place, much to my delight. Pulling up in front of this place, I tell ya, this does not look like an establishment that can stand on it own. It just doesn't look like a business that can survive, the building from the outside just looks like any other in the downtown Johnstown area, in need of some TLC. But, as they say, looks can be deceiving. Inside it is a warm atmosphere, albeit what you would expect for a neighborhood bar. This is close to the arena in town, so I expect later in the day or on any given game day this turns into a pretty happening sports bar. It is small, so don't expect to bring a large party here and all dine together. Most of the seating is at the bar. There are a few tables in here, but not many. I do like how they utilized the space. What I assume was old storefront windows has been converted into table space that uses the shape to its advantage. Once inside and sidled up to the bar ask for a menu. The menu isn't overwhelming, and I am sure you can find something on the menu to satisfy your appetite. It is your typical, heavy bar food. My sister and I decided to split an order of poutine. This plate comes out with fries covered in cheese that melts down and then it all swims in gravy. Seriously, you could just get this as a meal, it's that impressive and tasty. I overheard that this is one of their best sellers as well. For my main course I went with the Hot Turkey Platter where you get to choose between mashed potatoes or French fries. Of course, to stay the course, I went with fries. This plate was just as big as the poutine. I slowed up on the poutine so I could focus on the hot turkey sandwich. The turkey slices we nice and juicy, the bread was fresh, and the gravy had an amazing flavor. I took my time eating the sandwich part. Each bite I cut from the sandwich I dipped into the excess gravy, didn't want that to go to waste. I made myself finish that massive serving. And when I was done I turned my attention back to what was left of the poutine. That didn't fare too well, I was stuffed and some of that delicious poutine went to waste. Let me tell you about the staff in here as well. The bartender was amazing. She raved about the place and its food, not just because she works here, but because it really is that good. She chatted us up while we ate as well, checking on us often. When we had finished our meal and paid, the owner came out of the back (I assume he is the cook as well) and thanked us for stopping by. I will definitely be back here, that is when we get the chance to venture back out. read more

So there I was on the 133rd anniversary of the great Johnstown flood, about 30 minutes before an event downtown. What was a boy to do? Stop by a local watering hole and have a drink. And there was Scott's. So I stopped by for a beer. And it felt like home. I hadn't been back to SW PA since I moved to MD in 2020. But it get just like home. As fairly new residents of Johnstown, we found out about Scott's by Dam through co-workers who raved about the food. They were right. Everything we had was great. The menu has a lot to offer. The place isn't big by any stretch of the imagination but as soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted like old friends by Scott. He came by our table to check on us several times during our meal and cracked some jokes and interacted with all of his customers. What was especially endearing was the way he interacted with a mom and her young daughter who came in to pickup an order to go. They were obviously regulars and Scott leaned down and handed the little girl a bag of potato chips and she lit up. Scott and his wife are huge supporters of the Johnstown Tomahawks so it's nice to have a local family owned business that cares about the community. We will definitely be back! read more

An often overlooked gem in Johnstown. Popular in the hockey circles due to being close to 1st Summit Arena. Not much room, limited seating. If you can get in, the food is great. They are rude and condescending. They also overcharged us and never got our food right. it's really sad this place used to be great! Just a bunch of judgemental and stuck up individuals running the joint now. In town for business and wanted to try something local and close. As soon as I entered I realized it was a neighborhood tavern. It was clean and bright inside so I sat at the bar and had a beer. I was hungry for wings, but saw that tacos were their specialty. I ordered ordered a small beef taco, they have many types, and 6 wings. The taco was huge! This is a small neighborhood bar so I'm not going to layers of flavor, etc blahnik blahnik. The taco was very good, shell was a little thick for me but the taste was good. The wings were average but fine. Great value and I left happy. I had to leave but felt comfortable there amongst the obviously local friends, they even made me laugh a couple times. This has been a staple of Johnstown for as long as I was a kid in the 70's Scott the owner is there everyday welcoming you and especially out of towners ! My son plays hockey for Johnstown and he always welcomes all the boys and family's and he's at all of our games! Cheering us on! His food is amazing !!the staples is his soft shell tacos ! It's almost a religion in Johnstown but you better be hungry ! The small is a folded 8 inch pizza shell that's the small the larger is a 12 inch folded pizza soft shell taco is seriously bigger than a human head! And the prices you won't find great food at any price like Scott's !! You will definitely need a knap after your meal ! When you walk in you see the history of Johnstown and especially hockey in our town! And occasionally you might even see some of the actors of the movie slap shot come in and eat like the Hanson brothers! And if your lucky Scott will tell you some of his awesome stories of all the years of hockey and rock stars and celebrity's coming in including Tom cruise ( all the right moves) Leah Thomson ( all the right moves ) Paul Newman ( slap shot) countless WWE wrestling superstars!
