    Ruben Sandwich

We love this place & everything we've had has been amazing. We especially love their handmade potato chips that come with every sandwich. The Ruben is our hands down favorite but salads are fresh too & servings are always generous. Do yourself a favor & take the short drive into this charming town for a good meal at Bad Boyz!

On our way from Lancaster to Pittsburgh area we decided to stop in Bedford for lunch. Yelp reviews helped me pick this place and I was not disappointed. Located in the city with street parking it was easy to find. Darker inside but clean and we had decent service. The menu was unique and had interested and elevated food combos. Prices were fair. I ordered a chicken sandwich on Texas toast and it was delicious. A side if house made chips were included. My friend ordered Cincinnati chili, which she said was not authentic but otherwise liked it despite its false advertising. We were both intrigued by a Creamsicle cheesecake only to be deterred by a $8.99 price tag which is surprising given the fair prices of everything else. Next time I'm in Bedford I'd definitely stop again.

The food was good and hot but I wish I got more of a serving of fries especially when I had to pay more for them. I enjoyed the server. She was nice. It's a bit dark in the restaurant though but still nice and idea

This place was very interesting. Funny menu, and I think they were mostly known for their burgers.

Very much enjoyed the salads that my daughter and I had as well as the potato and bacon soup. Very cute setting, good service and cute names for the food items. The only suggestion for improvement would be to add photos to the menu because it took a long time to read what each item was because they are cleverly named after a famous movies rather than the food item name. Will definitely come back again:)

Great restaurant in Bedford, Pa. Only 2 miles off of the PA Turnpike, if you're on the road traveling, or will drive for food like me, this place is worth it. Big, expansive menu, a little bit of everything for everyone. An awesome, quirky menu. I got the Napoleon, Nothing short about this sandwich. You'll need both hands to eat it! Slow roasted Texas brisket served French dip style on a hoagie roll with caramelized onions, and pepperjack cheese. Au jus on the side for dippin'. A fresh hoagie roll, tender brisket, yummy melted cheese, I added my fries and Ranch dressing. Awesome sandwich, great, friendly wait staff, as Arnie said..."I'll be back!"

It was a quick trip, so we managed to keep our little ones entertained. Frontier Tavern is a great option if you have kids since it's the more casual restaurant on property and has a variety of seating with a more lively atmosphere. They also offer an extensive kids menu with crayons so they can color and stay entertained. The main issue we had here was that the service wasn't really the best. We ordered our son's meal and repeated it at least 3 times since we've been working on getting our son to talk to servers. However, our son's meal came out first and it was completely wrong. The server was apologetic, but it also made it hard when the rest of the meals came and he had to watch us eat ours. The main entrees for me and my partner also came out cold. My partner got the shaved steak and cheese sandwich, which was soggy and just okay. My meal was also okay, the pulled pork sandwich but felt like it was drowning in sauce and was also served cold. Our daughter ordered the French Onion soup and she also didn't love it since it didn't taste as good as others. I'm not sure what that means! She is only 5 but clearly has elevated tastes! Finally, we asked for some other sides and our server pretty much forgot all that we asked. He was friendly but just not the most attentive. In the end, it was an okay experience and we'd probably go again. But it's a high price point for this area and had much better service at the other restaurants on property.

But this place turned out to be even better and perfectly suited for my family's needs. The photos of the restaurant don't do it justice. I was nervous it would be a stuffy, cavernous environment inside. Instead, I found it surprisingly open, with great energy and not too dark but not blindingly lit up. We got a table along the wall, where we could look out at the entire dining room as well as the open air kitchen. Our server Stephen was a real delight. He was friendly, took great photos of our family and so chatty with us. We enjoyed his energy and all his spot-on recommendations. He was also really friendly with our kids who were transfixed by his many stories of working there. My daughter usually doesn't stop talking but she actually didn't say a word as he talked about all the fun moments of working at the resort over the years. We enjoyed the bottle of wine, and were impressed that he noticed it didn't seem quite up to standards with a compromised cork. He quickly took it away and brought us a fresh bottle. The food was delicious and I went with his recommendation of the duck. My partner got the short ribs, which I was also considering. Both meals were great. The chef also sent us some amuse bouche prior to the meal along with some bread, which we quickly devoured. I would totally come back here. We had the tea service earlier in the day, which was okay. But it felt a little dead inside and the back room where it was served had a very quiet vibe. Dinner at this spot is definitely worth checking out.

I'd like to particularly recognize Michael, who'd served us twice, as well as Marsha. This is an upscale place to be sure, and prices are commensurate with the aforementioned environment. My wife and I had breakfast there thrice, and supper one. Everything was delicious. I cant comment on spiritous libations as I do not partake in them. In addition to prompt service and checking on us frequently, there were such personal touches as Michael asking if we wanted coffee to go following breakfast, and then inscribing " Thank you! Michael " on the Styrofoam cups. It is one of several restaurants within the resort, and was likely my favorite. I cant see how this is young kid friendly. I have enough trouble sitting still as an older adult, let alone a toddler or preschool youngster who have to poop with great urgency immediately upon eating. I wish there were more places like this near our home where we could go for special occasions. Check it out!

We were absolutely blown away by the quality, portions, flavor profiles, and service in this little gem. We sat at the bar and were greeted immediately by a super friendly bartender named Matt. He was very attentive, friendly and welcoming. He was always checking up on us and making sure that we were always good. Service was fabulous. There's a timeline of the history of this historic building on the back of the menu. We ordered two drinks. One was an apple cider margarita and the other was a strawberry gin fizz concoction that was amazing. Both of these drinks were delicious. If we weren't driving and staying in the actual hotel above this tavern, we would have tried several other ones on the menu. Lots of creative choices that looked to be tasty based on the mix of ingredients. For the food - the menu was enticing and extensive. Lots of creative things happening here. The app we decided on was the Parmesan crusted Brussels and boy did they not disappoint. Absolutely delicious. We opted for The French Dip with fries and some magical au jus and a Union Smash burger with fries for our meals. Both are highly recommended!!! The burger was served on this delicious cloud of brioche bun and stacked high with two patties (perfectly cooked), pickles, dijonaose, and cheese. The French Dip had the most magnificent crusty roll and tender meat. Then there are these amazing Parmesan parsley fries that are perfectly cooked and served hot! We could have eaten an entire plate of these. To go boxes were needed. Big portions. We couldn't fit dessert! The bill does come with some tasty Andes mints. Prices here are extremely reasonable! I can't stress enough about how absurd it is that this small town has such a hidden treasure of a place where the food is beyond amazing. This place is a full package. You're probably here for some type of special occasion, because it is certainly pricey. I decided to splurge for a friend's birthday for brunch, which runs $95 per person and includes a mimosa. The same friend has visited a number of Frank Lloyd Wright houses with me, from this PA region to New York to Illinois, so it felt like the perfect place. I made a reservation on OpenTable and indicated that we had one vegetarian (myself). The restaurant followed up to make sure there were no other notes they needed to know, and also to see if I wanted to add anything on. You can add things like rose petals on the table and a single rose to the celebratory person, wine options, or an individual-ish celebration cake. I decided to add the celebration cake, which costs $20 and serves two people. There is a main restaurant, but the special experience this place has certainly become known for are the individual dining pods, which are out in the trees but well screened from any weather. There are heaters and fans available in your pod. It is a truly lovely private dining experience. You can just slightly hear conversations of other diners in nearby pods if you listen very hard, and there is piano music playing on speaker, which is instrumental version of popular songs like Britney Spears, Shakira etc. We found this funny but simultaneously enjoyed it. They had nice little touches like a Happy Birthday sign on the wall and an embossed happy birthday note for the birthday person to keep, and brought out chilled plates for a dessert involving frozen custard. It was nice attention to detail that reminded you this is a special dining experience. Service is attentive but unobtrusive and wants to make sure you are happy with your experience. Onto the food. The mimosas were already on our table when we arrived. Our server indicated they were sending out a complimentary amuse-bouche from the chef, which was an individual vegetable stuffed mushroom. It was delicious and a nice starting note. Then came the appetizer, a smoked burrata with pita, arugula, grape tomatoes and an edible orchid. Everything is so beautifully presented here, and just delicious. The entrées were crazy. There were two portions each of stuff French toast, potatoes and frittata. Those were all vegetarian and shareable. On a separate board came enough meat for two people to share as well, salmon, pork, sausage and carrots. Since that tray was not for me they also brought me a vegetarian bowl including veggies, chickpeas and quinoa. It was a lot of food and we ended up taking a nice amount of leftovers home from this part of the meal. Everything was wonderfully prepared, with the stuffed French toast probably being my favorite bite. Our server said she would be bringing dessert which I assumed was the celebration cake. But no, there was a French pastry each, presented with some fruit. They have a nice cocktail and cocktail menu and we elected to add an espresso mocktini each with this course. Those were on point and I've missed espresso martinis so much since I've largely given up drinking. After all of this came the celebration cake, which either came entirely or just the frozen custard from Tropical Bungalow, a local business. The Tahitian vanilla flavor was just delightful and the frozen custard was a wonderful texture. It was truly such a feast. We ate every bit of the desserts. One thing I appreciated here is that often when a place is known for the experience, the food is beautifully presented but not always plentiful. That is far from the case here, you are not going home hungry. My total bill came to $252, which included the two $95 brunches, the $20 celebration cake and two $14 mocktails. Adding a tip, I was a little over $300, which is a lot but it is a special occasion. We heard folks talking about staying overnight and looked up more information, and found that you can tour the four homes on the property here, two designed by Wright and two by his apprentice. In reviewing the tours I noted that there are package options, with one offering a tour of three of the houses and lunch at Tree Tops for a total of $75 per person (!). This is an incredible value and I think I would take this option next time, as the houses would definitely be worth touring as well. I look forward to my next visit here.
