I was looking for a place to grab breakfast on the way to the airport and came across this place. It totally exceeded my expectations. It's like someone took the restaurant from a 4 star hotel and transported it into the parking lot of a neighborhood shopping center. The decor is top-notch and very clean considering the crowds they handle. Ever been to those ritzy hotels where they place ice in the urinals and the bathroom is near spotless? They are that level. The seating area is very large and can handle larger parties. It might seem packed but they got me in pretty quick. The staff was attentive and brought me coffee and took my order quickly. I decided to splurge on the Chicken and Asparagus Frittata. The waitress warned me that it would take 20 minutes to prepare but I had a few minutes to spare. When the frittata arrived, I was amazed. It covered the dinner platter edge-to-edge and to a height of over 2 inches. Near sizzling hot and covered in a luscious hollandaise. This could have easily been a meal for two or entree for four with salads. The chicken was tender and juicy and the asparagus cooked just tender. It was a monumental but delicious challenge and well worth $11. Definitely worth a visit. read more

I am understanding our experience here after reading some of the reviews. Personnel problems start at the top and I have never seen anything quite like this place. Went in and ordered the spaghetti and upgraded for the salad. The salad arrived and it was soaking wet iceberg lettuce with one cucumber slice and a tomato wedge. We commented and the waitress told us to talk to the person at cash register. It was a simple comment but we did mention when checking out. Of course we had to wait while the cashier/floor manager was on his personal call. He told me that that was "inventory control" and it was the rules (this is where the rude owner is echoed). The "Don't you understand that businesses have to have rules to operate". Give me a break, we are talking about a couple of slice of cucumber. We had a couple of incidents like this, I would never go back. The food is okay but service is important and they just don't have it. read more

I think the wait staff here was good, but didn't understand that our food was not delivered as what we ordered. For example, we asked for eggs scrambled with little American cheese, and the cook laid it on top and way too much. We also asked for grilled onions in our hashbrowns, and the kitchen LOADED the potatoes covered with onions so much you couldn't see the potatoes! Lastly, the lady at the front entrance who took our money NEVER made eye contact, NEVER asked how was our meal, or even gave us a small acknowledgment or thank you for your service. We've been going to Melrose for breakfast for many years. The services and the food is always good. With the pandemic, I've been getting take out. The food is still good and packed well. When I pick up my food, I can see that guests are spaced throughout the large restaurant. Staff are wearing masks and gloves. I recommend Melrose as a wonderful place for breakfast. read more

I've been coming to Melrose consistently for nearly a decade, and there's a reason I keep coming back. The food is exceptional, the service is prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere is comfortable. I've never once been disappointed with the food and the portions are always as generous as they are delicious! I recommend the gyro meat and eggs or any of the omelettes. My wife is a fan of their mimosas and the eggs Benedict. Their hashbrowns are hands-down the best in MKE. Do yourself a favor and get brunch there on a Saturday or Sunday--it's a delightful way to start the day. read more

This is a mediocre place at best. Food runs average in price and taste accompanies the average-ness. Nothing to write home to mom about but not terrible. They keep it clean and we have always had friendly service, which is what brings us back. Plenty of seating and they're always able to accommodate a large group when our extended family comes up, even during busy times. read more

Decent Food, Good Service, 1 Free Soda Refill WTH!!!!!!!! You know something is wrong when a restaurant only offers you one free refill on fountain soda, and maybe you should not come here if you like soda, but overall, if you are starving and in the area, and really need to eat, this place will do just fine. Nothing is great, but then again nothing is bad. Front of the house is a little screwed up as you walk in and the pie area is half empty and understaffed, but once they see you to your table your just average dining experience will go off without a hitch. The menu is diverse, and the Gyro plate was fine. The sandwiches were good, and the fries were cooked properly. The one thing that actually was done nice was the greek salad. BUT be careful they leave the pits in the olives, so I am sure they are going to get sued someday when a tooth gets chipped. You will be fine eating here, nothing is Awesome, but everything is average and the price is fine. Service was prompt and good. If I was hungry and in the area, I would go back, but if you can find anything better, go there, this is not a place to remember. read more

I use to live in Milwaukee & watched this place go down the tubes. constant turn around of wait staff, & overstaffed to the point of seeing more employees than customers. Many times after the bars close this place could NEVER & I mean NEVER bring in customers. It was always a joke that your bank & financial advisors warned you to stay away. I remember this place when it was Judy's Restaurant, they retired (so I heard) & sold the place. Now the Melrose was born. OMG is this place a castle, or a restaurant? I'm not in the restaurant business, or do I want to be. People come to your restaurant to eat @ a reasonable price, not to look at your décor. Fancy desserts & glass of wine ( colored water, lol) being careful not to over fill it, pouring it like it was liquid gold, or a glass of beer all "comes w/ your meal". I have never had a bad meal and usually the service is awesome. One Sunday, I ordered a broccoli and cheese omelet with a side of bacon. The waitress said that I must have quite the appetite. I usually eat half of all of it and save leftovers, and I do not eat the toast. So needless to say, I was not pleased that she basically said I was ordering too much food. My husband and I stopped here for breakfast. My husband ordered blueberry pancakes. The waitress brought our food out, and I reached over to my husband's plate and took one of the blueberries and popped it into my mouth...only to find out that it was rotten. The manager/owner came over and said "I just went in back, and you are right the blueberries are rotten. I'll tell you what I'm going to do for you, I'm not going to charge you for the blueberry pancakes." Seriously??!!! We will not be going back. Over priced, and we had to flag a different waitress to get a refill on coffee. We had a large group of 11 people and decided to skip omega's for Melrose. I am so glad we tried it. Even at 10pm, they serve a full menu and the prices are family friendly. Large large portions. My husband had a pasta dish, creole spiced, and I had the chicken shishkabob. This came w soup or salad and desert. It was quite fulfilling. The service was fast and the restaurant was clean. Went there last night with some friends and all I can say is - awesome! I had the gyros with Greek salad and my friend had this amazing pesto pasta dish that I sampled. There are so many choices on the menu - the only difficult part was choosing what deliciousness to partake in. Also had the Chardonnay which was fabulous. The food is below average prices are above average and most important when ever you ask for something they add extra charge and they won't replace anything on the dish. Go into this place and order the bourbon glazed pork steak. It is listed on their menu as one of their specialty items. They bring me two small pork chops that are dry as a bone! My server is nowhere to be found so I can get the problem fixed. So I scraped through the meal and figure I have the dessert to look forward to. So I take the dessert to go. The lady taking my ticket for my free dessert item has the personality of a wet mop. Even the dessert was dry! How can you screw up a chocolate cake! I definitely don't recommend this place to anybody. This is a traditional Greek style restaurant where you usually get great food and exceptional service. They definitely dropped the ball! Pretty awesome food, wish I could say the same about the service. I might have come in on the wrong day and maybe a little later in someone's shift. But the server took longer than average to take our order and was slow after we ordered. Over all though this places food was amazing!! I have a NYStrip which was cooked to perfection!! I have known the owner Sam for quite some time and it never ceases to amaze me that every time I choose to dine at Melrose the experience gets better. My girlfriend and I ordered breakfast and bloodies after a great night out with family for my brother's Birthday. I had the Ball Park and she had the Jamaican Jerk, only thing I can say was .......Awesome. Could not finish my Melrose skillet because the Ball Park was a meal in itself. My daughters and I went out for lunch on 06-25-19. We order a hamburger, mac-n-cheese and buffalo chicken sandwich. The buffalo chicken sandwich tasted awful. I eat what I order, but not this time. The sauce tasted musty on the buffalo chicken sandwich. I told the manger/owner about the sauce tasting awful and he wanted to argue about the sauce being good. Did not want to argue about food in front of my young daughters. The service was fast and waitress was ok. Will NEVER recommend this restaurant to anybody, due to the food and lack of customer service by the manger/owner. read more
