It had a school cafeteria smell, the floor around my table was filthy and the Parmesan cheese literally had a bug crawling inside ... yea, no bueno! An update from my last review of Mellow Mushroom like eight years ago. When I went last, I learned a trick. You just have to ask them to cook the pizza a little longer, for a nicer, crispier crust. In my opinion, the stock crust experience they offered was too thick, too doughy, and too floppy to hold up to a proper fold technique. Well it had been over five years, my restaurant statue of limitations, and I wanted pizza, so why not? Let's come back. Ambiance is always awesome at Mellows. Very psychedelic with the 60s/70s far out acid vibes. Cozy. Makes you feel right at home. Service was good. We had a nice lady who took care of us, refilled our drinks, and the food came out quite promptly. No concerns here. As for the food, We started off with the Thai Chili Wings (Double-baked for a crispy and flavorful wing without the use of a fryer or added oils. Hand-tossed in Thai Chili sauce. Served with celery, carrots and your choice of ranch or bleu cheese dressing). Nice wings. They did have a nice crisp to them, and a hint of delicious char. The flavor of the sauce was pretty standard for Thai chili, but it did not adhere well to the wing. Solid, though. As for our pizza main event, we were delighted to learn that you can get their specialty pizzas half-and-half. So instead of a compromise, we got the best of both worlds and could share. We got a medium half-and-half of the Pacific Rim (Mellow red sauce topped with mozzarella, honey ham, applewood-smoked bacon, caramelized onions, pineapple and jalapeños) and the Funky Q Chicken (Mozzarella, BBQ chicken, sharp cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, applewood-smoked bacon, finished w/ a swirl of BBQ sauce). Both sides were covered in toppings, which you don't see very often as more and more pizza places are tightening their purse strings. The Rim was good, lots of fatty toppings, but with nice pops of sweet pineapple and spicy jalapenos. And the Q was an indulgent, saucy mess with nice sized chunks of chicken. Good stuff. I did not ask for an extra cooked crust. I wanted to see how it was stock again. And alas, it was too much for me. I will not punish the rating, because I know some people like this kind of floppy crust. But I don't get it. Just be aware if you're picky about your pizza crust. Overall, a good show! Wanted to have some pizza for wrestlemania last week, I decided to order some from this restaurant since it's 10' away from my house & recommended by a co-worker. I ordered 2 medium pizzas (holy shiitake & steak) from their website to be picked up & they were ready when my gf arrived. After opening those boxes, it's cool down a bit fast so I guess I will just order 30' ahead for next time (I ordered at 4pm and asked to pick it up at 6:30pm). The holy shiitake was great while the steak was just okay. Good thing, they didn't make them both too salty. Price was reasonable. Staff did open the boxes for my gf to double check before leaving, very kind. Plus, I love the design of the boxes, very nice. 'Twas and dark and stormy night and I was hungry. Decided to pull over on Colonial to what I hoped would be a pizza place and not a dispensary. I was in luck! It was a pizza place! Thanks be to God. And thanks be to God that the pizza was divine. I got a medium and split it between the Thai Dye and Holy Shiitake pies. Holy indeed was the truffle flava flave of the shiitake side. Divinely transported was I to a mushroom lovers heaven. A natural high! The Thai side didn't particularly have me Thai-Ed to the flavor but maybe it was the chicken that turned me off. A clear mistake in my haste to order 10 minutes before closing. In its defense the chicken wasn't tough and was curry flavored. I like curry. So, it was ok to decent. The crust was chewy and more importantly with a strong garlic flavor. My fave. (sorry, to my fans who dislike garlic or onions). Since it was a Wednesday night and dark and stormy to boot the pizza loving crowd was thin. Myself and a couple sitting next to a camera less gimbal on the bar were the main occupants in this psychedelic spot. I've been to some other pizza joints at this time in Orlando like Lazy Moon for example and they were better frequented. I'm surprised there weren't more students here since its near UCF. Maybe, they were at the dispensary nearby called 'Cannabis' (subtle, eh?) Well, if I had to choose between Cannabis and here I'd say this place was a clear winner. The service was friendly. The pizza pie deliciouso. And well, better to eat pizza than to do drugs. So says I. Their pizzas are all soooo good! I don't recall the name but they have a meat pizza which is just decadent. And the Great White is a fantastic white pie. Just keep in mind this isn't "normal" pizza and for the love of Pete don't compare it to NY pizza and then call it terrible! A small pie is enough for one person with a leftover slice. Medium for 2 people. And a large can definitely feed 4 especially if you get that over the top meat pizza! We happened to be in the area, on the way home we were both hungry and pizza had been talked about a lot. Mellow Mushroom is not near our house, so it was the perfect time to stop in. We've been here a few times, always a good time. We walked in, were promptly greeted and sat. First impression, very clean. Many tvs with sports on, so if you need something to watch, they have you covered. Our server came up, took our drink order and came back. After a bit, we finally figured out what we decided on. My wife got the great white, which has sun dried tomatoes, provolone,feta and ricotta. A great variation of a margarita pizza. I couldn't make up my mind, so I got pepperoni and half sausage peppers and olives. It wasn't too long of a wait, during that time our server would check on us and make sure we had everything we needed. Then, out comes our food, they say you eat with your eyes first, and wow, both of us agreed, everything looks amazing. Just to clarify, we both got smalls, which is 4 slices. The menu covers all of the sizes, etc. we wanted to try a bit of everything, that's why we got 2 pizzas. First off, both were amazing, I would recommend any of those, which is a good sign, I would think the rest are about the same. While we are enjoying our food, our server would check on us, make sure we have everything, any refills on drinks, etc. Anyway, after about halfway through, we both started to slow down, so, sure, I guess we will get a box for the rest. Now our server, I apologize, I don't remember his name, maybe Nick, I'm probably wrong. I'm sorry, but he did an amazing job. Well, most people would be finished, but of course I had to see the dessert menu. Nick brought one over and we decided on the peanut butter cookie topped with ice cream and chocolate. It took a couple of minutes, but it was worth it. The cookie wasn't very hot, more like slightly warm. Nothing wrong with that. If it wasn't getting late, I might have gotten another, kidding, maybe. As soon as we finished, Nick was right there, clearing up the table, we got the check, it was about what you would expect, not over priced, great price for some pizza and dessert. Let me start this review off by saying 2 things. This isn't a good review, and that without Devin (Devon, unsure of spelling) this review would be one star. My group of four walked in and were sat immediately. After about 20 minutes of waiting with no drink menu, no waters, and no utensils, we decided to walk up to the bar and order some drinks. Our bartender/newfound server was the best, that's Devin. He was EXTREMELY apologetic about our service, or lack thereof and took it upon himself to wait on our table for the night. He promptly took our drink and food orders and food was delivered to us within 10 minutes, including unique drinks. During this 10 minute period our supposed "waitress" named Kaitlyn (we asked for her name) came to our table and simply stated "I saw you guys waiting for a while. I wasn't sure if you were in my section." and proceeded to walk away. No apology. What was confusing to us was Kaitlyn was waiting on tables in front of, to the side of, and behind us, so we seemed to be in the middle of the section... extra confusing. Were we gerrymandered? Devin was extremely professional. He needs to be top dog in this Mellow Mushroom. So, it was an unfortunate experience but thankfully our hero, Devin, saved the day! read more

Originally we had made reservations at Coopers Hawk. Unfortunately, they had our reservation in Orlando and we thought it was at Coopers Hawk in the Waterford Lakes mall. Since we were unwilling to drive into Orlando we decided to try something different. We decided on the Mellow Mushroom on E. Colonial Dr. It was shortly after 6 pm when we arrived last evening (12/11) and there were plenty of tables. We were a party of 6. We were seated right away and ordered our drinks. While we were waiting we scanned the menu and decided on two pizzas, the NEW Steakhouse Pizza and the Holy Shiitake pizza. We also ordered the Spinach salad with an apple-flavored dressing...fantastic! The pizzas were served piping hot and they were both delicious. The new Steakhouse pizza had a bit of heat to it, but it was very good, as was the Holy Shiitake mushroom pizza. In addition, the wines were all 1/2 price, so we enjoyed some wine with our pizzas. As for the service, I can't say enough good things about the waitstaff! Our server (sorry, I didn't get her name) was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, so when we asked about certain items she was able to answer all of our questions. If you have not been to a Mellow Mushroom for pizza you MUST put it on your "to go to" restaurants list. The pizza crust could be ordered thin or thick, but either way it is delicious and crispy. We will be sure to visit again because there are other items we saw on the menu which we want to try, especially the Magic Mushroom soup! Haven't visited in a while and just happened to drop in yesterday with a friend for lunch. We walked into an empty restaurant with the exception of 2 people at the bar and one table of 4. We approached the wait stand and stood for 3-5 minutes before being acknowledged and sat. We quickly ordered our lunch specials (pick 2). Our Caesar salads arrived, but no croutons. When we asked our server for them we were told they didn't have any, but if we wanted them she would go check - nope that didn't make much sense. She returned stating they were used up the night before. Well, ok then. Our other selected item, half an Italian sub and slice of pizza with mushrooms arrived within a reasonable time. Food was good. Unfortunately it was just a very odd feel there - hardly anyone there - including workers, but again the food was decent. I did notice there was a puddle of water next to one of the middle tables that was not coming from the ceiling. . . but it just remained even though the server (and another customer) walked by it multiple times. From a safety standpoint this is an accident waiting to happen. Overall while service was interesting, she was very sweet and the food was decent. I'm sure hopeful Mellow Mushroom will get their act together overall since this is one of my long time faves. read more

They used to give free pretzel bites and they really are awesome if you feel like you have room to try them out. If you're feeling adventurous get the spicy cheese! First off, let me say our server was excellent. I can remember everything I ate for dinner 2 years ago, but can't remember names very well. I think it was Jessie or Jamie or Josie or Jacobina. What I'm saying is it started with a J (I think). I was in the experimental stage of trying vegan items and she answered all of my newbie questions with care and assurance that some of the cooks were also vegan so they would make sure. Vegan Salad - Yes, that's an easy one I'm sure. The small house salad was not very small. It would be a large at some places for sure. I got the balsalmic vinaigrette dressing and they even replaced the shaved parmesan with vegan cheese. Nice! Plus this personal sized salad had about 7 times the amount of black olives as that Olive Garden salad where they expect you to split 1 olive! (I like olives) Custom Vegan Pizza - I ordered onions, kalamata olives (I like olives), and after asking some questions, the tempeh crumbles. The pizza came out and there was a lot more tempeh than I was expecting. The waitress did recommend having it tossed in some type of flavoring (BBQ), but I was going for a more classic flavor. She said some people love it and some don't and I'm just one that doesn't apparently. Anyway, the rest of the pizza was pretty darn tasty. The cheese was melted which can be an issue with some vegan cheeses, the thin crust was crunchy and chewy and not too thin. Toppings can add up in price, so beware! The Great White Pizza (not vegan and not fishy either) on thick crust was also pretty good. The toppings gave this a ton of flavor with the oils and garlic and basil. The real cheese also adds the flavor as well. It was a good pizza that also made up for great leftovers. (In the oven, not the microwave). The pizza can get pricey especially when adding a bunch of toppings (I added 3), so you may need to show some restraint or pick from one of their many specialty pizzas. They were generous with the toppings though, maybe a little too much. I will definitely be back as the staff is helpful and friendly and they have a lot of different options for vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores alike. As someone who cannot eat gluten, I was a little disappointed in my experience at Mellow Mushroom. I have read about this place and was excited to try it. I ordered the gluten free pepperoni pizza. The pizza did not taste too good. I have certainly had better gluten free pizzas. It tasted kind of like a typical frozen pizza. It was also pretty small with 4 little slices and was $16. I haven't had Mellow Mushroom pizza in a long time and decided to try again and got a BBQ chicken pizza with ranch drizzled on top and gluten free pineapple. The BBQ chicken got messed up and bacon was put on instead of chicken but the manager was super nice and gave us a refund for that one. The gluten free crust is kind of tough and chewy but the flavor is so good. The building is super cute and has mushroom decor! Mellow Mushroom, this is a place I used to go all the time years ago. I will be going back more often again because of two words: Cesar Pizza!!!! We were looking for a Saturday night bite to eat, drove down 50 in the M4 top down and then we saw nostalgia . Yes they are open to dining and we did see a few people inside. We did see that they were practicing safe distancing, the staff was wearing masks/gloves and constantly cleaning. David was pretty much running the show and did an excellent job. We did take our food to go and it was perfectly prepared, just how I remembered. The Cesar Pizza is a pizza topped with chicken and then they place a whole cesar salad on top. They didn't even ask, just automatically put the salad in a separate container (to avoid it being soggy) and provided us with yummy parmesan cheese. I did not take a picture *slaps hand* We were hungry and ate it before I could think to do so . This may be my last time at this Mellow Mushroom. Like any good Yelper I check in as soon as I entered the door (I know there are free pretzel bites with any pizza order). Upon walking in the hostess seated us right away. When we sat in the booth in front of the kitchen the light flickering above us wasn't that bad, however, over time it got worse. The waitress (Shaylin) comes to take our drink order and I show her the free pretzel code. She tells me that they don't take Yelp coupons. I told her I've used it at this location and other Mellow Mushroom without any problem. She's like well let me get the code and see if it works. Ok sounds good, can we order now. Yes, of course!! It took her 20 minutes to come back to tell me no it's not working, so I tell her ok no problem but you can still bring us a order of the pretzel bites and just add it to the check. Food comes no pretzel bite she walks pass our table numerous of times but I'm at the point of just forget it. When your 16 year old kid wants pizza for dinner on Valentines Day you try to make as special as possible. read more
