Mellow is our favorite pizza and this is our favorite valley location! Went for an early dinner last Sunday around 4 pm. Several other tables sat at the same time with just two waitstaff members serving. They did a great job getting us drinks and appetizers super fast. When our pizza came out it was supposed to be 1/2 Buffalo and 1/2 Marley but they accidentally made it 1/2 bbq. The identified the error, said they were training two new kitchen staff and they got confused in the sudden rush. Restaurant took initiative to make it right and sent us out another Buffalo pizza and a round of drinks on the house. This was our first time ordering and I was a bit taken back by the $40 price tag for ONE pizza. But, I assumed it was going to be exceptional and loaded with toppings. I really enjoy coming to Mellow Mushroom specifically for Happy Hour. Most weekdays their happy hour is from 3 to 6 PM and from 9 PM until close. On Thursdays reverse happy hour starts at 7 pm and on weekends its 9 PM til close. It's so cool to find a place with late happy hour on the weekends when people may be looking to grab some drinks and appetizers. During happy hour, beer, cocktails, and apps (except wings) are half off. They have a huge selection of draft beer and some nice cocktails to choose from. My fav app hands down are the pretzel bites, they are warm salty and delicious and you can't go wrong with beer cheese! You can't beat the pretzel cold beer combo this summer. I've tried their pizza and calzones and they are really good. The vibe is just like their name says pretty mellow. I think it's a versatile place and good to come with family or friends. Mellow Mushroom is a national chain custom pizza house that is themed for the 70s mushroom, free love, psychedelic vibe. Pizzas are thusly a little strangely odd (ceasar salad pizza), but always excellent. This location is one of the only restaurants that stays late on the post covid scene. You can order food here till midnight or 1am, which is nice. I have ordered everything at his place. Thier 3 mestball appetizer to their meatball sub, their meatlovers pizza to their pizza burger, thier elevated cobb salad to their cloud nine wings. You won't find a bad dish at Melllow Mushroom, but some may be a bit odd. I generally love their oven baked wings and their excellent salads. The service here is likewise very good, and the staff seems genuinely helpful. The only occasional issue I have had is the food prep csn sometimes take a bit longer on late nights when the place is full. This is partly because this is the place to late after evening events etc. It can get slammed since there are no other places open locally for decent sit down food experience. Well we have been here more than an hour and are still waiting for our food. Luckily I ordered the kids' food as soon as we sat down or we would have had a meltdown. I figured I might as well get this review going because I apparently have the time. Service has been extremely slow and I am becoming less and less excited about the food with every passing minute as my frustration grows. Their coffee is decent and enough for two to share. Do not count on them having all the beers on their menu and it will take them at least ten minutes to tell you so. Okay, food finally arrived. Some is good and some is not. My mom got the biscuits and gravy and it was completely cold. My tasteless frittata came out piping hot. My husband's breakfast burrito was delicious but had way too much tortilla. The potatoes were not edible, bacon was good, sausage had bad seasonings that just didn't work. I love this place. service is always friendly and top notch. we sat at the bar which was really nice the service was super attentive. I had the house Red Wine for sure was good. we had the Spanish artichoke dip - delicious i just wish it was served with soft bread rather than the hard bread. pretzel bites with cheese. these were to die for delicious. some Parmesan cheese oh man!!! then we shared the great white pizza. oh my this was something else. I am quite displeased with recent price increases. In fact I will not be coming back to mellow mushroom for the foreseeable future until prices are lowered again. I came to mellow mushroom once a month due to the INCREDIBLE quality of the pizza vs the price. It was easily one of the best (Edit: not one of the best - THE BEST) quality per price pizzas in the area. My favorite pizza I ordered more than once a month was $30 for years. I came to order it today only to find out it is now a $40 pizza. A $10 increase. That's unacceptable & easily propels it into the ludicrously priced category. I unfortunately will not be returning my business to mellow mushroom - my FAVORITE pizzeria in Arizona due to this ridiculous price jump. 33% increase is rather wild & sickeningly greedy. My fear now is that even if prices were to lower - that would then lower the quality as well. Time to say goodbye to my favorite pizza in the valley. Tried this place for the first time. Had placed my order around 8Pm and didn't get it until after 9 PM for starters. Secondly, my order was not only incorrect but looked unappetizing and literally lost my appetite. The food was not fresh, in fact it wasn't even warm. Honestly, I think Little Caesars may have been a better choice at this point. Putting it back in the oven would do no justice. The pretzel bites tasted like a piece of left over dough that was like gum and very chewy. I ordered from Grubhub, but after an hour wait, it should have been made fresh. And how'd you look at this pizza and not think , somethings missing? I even called the place around 830PM to make sure the order was correct, they said they were waiting on the driver that was the first red flag. Came in a week ago, very hungry. Was greeted after a few minutes sitting at the bar. Got one round of drinks and ordered a large pie, half and half (two specialty pizza, crispy. No service until the pizza came. The dough was very soggy and extremely thin, falling apart in the middle, toppings fell off as soon as you picked up a slice. Didn't get service until i waved down a bartender. She immediately took the pizza away and tried to take my plate away as well, but didn't offer anything so I kept my plate and ate the crust. We got a remake which came out even worse than the first one. They only offered 10% off and didn't apologize a single time or try to make the experience better at all. They can make their pizzas and calzones completely vegan just ask. Their crust is so delicious, some of the best crust I have had on a pizza. CONS: Their "pretzel" bites didn't taste like pretzels at all just bread, so I would skip them if you are debating about ordering them. Service was okay. I love the look, feel and vibes of Mellow Mushroom. This is a large venue, good for groups with a nice outdoor sitting area with TVs for any sporting events! I've been here a few times and am basing my review on overall experiences. I'm a fan because the service is consistently on point and are very attentive. I know the name is "mellow" but I still feel like I'm in good hands with the chill, friendly and attentive staff. It's a good balance between comfort and confidence. Not only is the staff and location great but the options for food and beverages are equally great! I love the unique, spin-off flavor pies they offer and you can continue to add/edit and customize! Although it's not my absolute favorite pizza spot, I always find myself coming back here on a regular basis! I'm a fan and will continue to keep coming back. I was SO excited to find Mellow Mushroom on this side of town since moving! Thanks to Yelp's "Big Night In" event, I opted for a to-go order. Worth the 15 minute drive over to Mesa. It was probably also a good idea to order late afternoon instead of 6pm or later. There was virtually no one there! And, I really appreciated the precautionary methods taken at this location. The doors were propped open because the weather is beautiful- I didn't have to touch a single thing besides the to-go bag handed to me from a gloved & masked patron. I opted for my favorites- buffalo chicken pizza, a spinach, garlic chicken pizza & cheese bread w/ a side of beer cheese. I will say- the buffalo chicken pizza was fantastic! So was the cheese bread! But, docking a star for the spinach pizza & beer cheese. The spinach pizza was sloppily made. Way too much sauce & it looked like they just threw a bunch of ingredients on it & called it good. And the beer cheese had WAY too much beer in it. A watery, overly hoppy taste- which left me with a terrible stomach ache hours later. So, I don't think I'll select either of those items again. But overall- the majority of the food was really good and a favorite I missed for quite a while! The staff was also extremely grateful for the business during these tough times, and I really appreciated their sanitary efforts. I definitely recommend and will be back for more in the future!
