I grabbed a small Hawaiian pizza from here one day for lunch. The wait time was really fast as it probably only took 20 minutes. The pizza had tons of cheese on it and the sauce was really tasty! read more

One of my favorite pizza restaurants in Charlottesville VA; I always order their pizza to go and occasionally sit down to eat. I really like the mighty meaty; it has mellow red sauce, pepperoni, Italian sausages, honey ham, applewood smoked bacon and Mozzarella. They packed on the ingredients and it's always super fresh and tasty! Spacious restaurant; cool staff; friendly vibes all around. This location tend to get packed! Parking in this area is horrible but it's so worth it. read more

Pizza was burnt and extremely dry. Didn't see any cheese or sauce. Was ordered using Uber Eats Been billed twice. So I got the worst $100 pizza read more

The vibe is chill and unpretentious. Say hello to Melo Man as you walk in. Order the Kosmic Pizza. Get ready to have ya mind blown. If you're feeling a little extra, order the Melo Mushroom. That white sauce drizzled on top is perfection. The thin crust is still thick, so get ready to carb out and live it up read more

Mellow mushroom has great GF pizza! They offer all of their pies in a GF version, but you can only order a small pie. It is a thinner crust and the pie is like a personal sized pizza. My favorite so far is the Shiitake and even their plain cheese pizza. They also have tasty chicken wings. 10/10 would recommend this spot for some good comfort food in C-ville! read more

Pretty much everything we ordered was excellent. The salads are quite impressive. The BBQ chicken and the Kosmic pizzas were very good and the crust was superb. We were here during summer break but I can imagine this place would be hopping when UVA is in session. Highly recommended. read more

My family arrived at 10:58 a.m. We hesitated because the posted opening time was 11:00, but the doors were unlocked, the "Open" sign was lit, and the server warmly welcomed us in, assuring us it was fine. Moments later, the manager came over and loudly reprimanded the server, saying, "We open at 11:00." When she quietly pointed out that it was 10:58, he repeated himself in a harsh tone. It was an uncomfortable way to start our visit. We ordered right away, and one of our pizzas came out promptly. However, the server apologized and explained that someone had accidentally taken our second pizza for a delivery order, so it had to be remade. We were the only customers in the restaurant at the time. Unfortunately, the manager's behavior continued to overshadow the meal. He repeatedly used the F-word and other profanity while speaking to employees in the middle of the dining room. We had our two young children with us, and after hearing it multiple times, my husband asked if he could refrain from using that language while he was within earshot of our family. The food itself was good, and our server was kind and apologetic throughout the experience. Sadly, the manager's conduct made what should have been a pleasant family meal very uncomfortable. Because of that, we won't be returning. read more

We had a delightful experience at Mellow Mushroom. Our server was incredibly sweet and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The highlight for us was the calzones, which were absolutely delicious and generously portioned--we even had enough for leftovers! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the 'Super Pep' pizza, raving about its flavorful toppings. The restaurant had a fun vibe with a nostalgic 70s décor that added to the enjoyable atmosphere. It was clean and well-maintained, making our dining experience comfortable and pleasant. We would gladly return for another meal at next time we are in town. Sadly I only got pictures of the restaurant because we were so hungry we forgot to take food pix. read more

Came here for dinner on a Monday evening with hubby. We've been to other Mellow Mushrooms at different locations and this was the first time we came to this location. We ordered the pretzel bites (because I got a free pretzel bites coupon with the purchase of a pizza by checking in on Yelp), a mixed drink, a Cobb salad, and Hawaiian pizza. Total came out to approximately $50. What's not - Service. There appeared to be only 3 wait staff when we were there. Not certain what their staffing situation is like. Salad came out first, drink came out second, appetizer came out third, and pizza was last. We waited close to 30 minutes for our salad to come out first. Not sure why our mixed drink took so long to arrive, as well. Why didn't that come first? Our water glasses were never refilled. Because our orders took so long, no one ever checked in on us to update the progress of our orders. To be fair to their staff, everyone was nice, but the quality of service and the wait time was terrible, especially on an evening that wasn't busy. There were maybe 10 tables of customers. - Quality. Unacceptable. The chicken on the salad was over cooked and dry. The pretzel bites weren't a pretzel texture, just over cooked pizza dough bites that were not soft or tender. The pizza was barely warm when it arrived, which led us to believe the pizza had been sitting out for a while before it was served. The crust was over cooked. The cheese wasn't soft and gooey as one expects on any pizza. Rather, it was firm and just fell off the pizza as I was eating, because it was so firm. Not worth the money we've paid for. - Price. Not good value for money. - Parking. Because it's close to the university, parking in this area can be very difficult. Be mindful that most parking in this area is monitored and/or timed and/or permit parking. Be prepared to walk farther. What's hot - Location. It's convenient to the university, as well as other shops and restaurants. Final Answer Terrible and would not recommend. read more

Good pizza, friendly service. Busy college town atmosphere, a long time in between check ins by the wait staff.

The food at this restaurant is truly amazing, the best food I have eaten in a long time. We get our food delivered most times and it is still just as hot as if we were eating it there in the restaurant. I am looking forward to the next time I am able to go in. read more

I ordered a pizza and a gallon of tea online. Doordash showed without my drink. I called, and was told too bad. No refund offered. Cool.

Came here after a long day of trail work nearby and got one of the best vegan pizzas of my LIFE. Our waitress checked to make sure it was vegan for us and it was delish. The vibes here are great - lots of interesting things to look at and great music! Thank u read more

Their food's excellent! I like how they have great online ordering system and their food tastes very good too! Pizzas baked crispy on the outside and full of flavor on top read more

Got the house pizza to go. Very good. We walked in and ordered. The guy told us around 15 mins. We sat right near the register and he never told us when it was ready until a different girl came over to check on us and the pizza had been ready for awhile. Weird place but excellent pie! read more

Good pizza in multiple size options. Lots of interesting choices of toppings. Very friendly service.

Amazing!!!!! I usually enjoy Mellow Mushroom to begin with, and this exceeded my expectations. Came for an early dinner and we were immediately seated and greeted by a very friendly young server named Cameron. He took good care of us and was SUUUPERR kind, which I appreciated!!! Every food included in the photos was delicious. I loved both kinds of the pizza (a little too cheesy but still tasty). The veggies in the calzone were not cooked very thoroughly and were therefore pretty crunchy still, that was the only negative of our whole experience. I added some red pepper flakes to the spinach dip to add kick and it was the perfect addition. TL;DR: Comfy vibes, good music, friendly service, and GREAT food. Definitely check it out! read more

Me and my fiance just moved to Charlottesville! Went out with some family to show them the area and (unfortunately, our bad) decided on dinner on Valentine's Day. Regardless, who I assume was the MOD, was super attentive to our 6 person party with getting us seated! Our waitress who I can not remember the name of for the life of me was super great! And so was the food! You guys rock! We will definitely be coming back NOT on Valentine's Day to check out those lunch deals! read more

First timer at Mellow Mushroom. Delicious crust like non I've ever tried before. I can't remember the name of the pizza we had but the "sauce" was a garlic aioli topped with grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, spinach, onions. DELICIOUS! Service was great too! read more

I had an awesome pizza delivered from Mellow Mushroom. The ratios were right. Perfect amount of crust, sauce, cheese, sausage, and mushrooms. Great pizza. read more

Mellow Mushroom is solidly "pretty good." The food comes out pretty fast which is a bonus, and the prices aren't crazy. The service I've had here has been very friendly and helpful I would absolutely recommend lunch here over dinner, as they have great pizza-by-the-slice deals at lunch that make the prices great. If you head here you should absolutely grab the pretzel bites, dusted with parmesan and served with beer cheese. I'm also a fan of their white pizzas, they have a really great seasoned ricotta. Draft list is pretty good as well. A fun stop for lunch or good for a big group at dinner. read more

Had a reservation for a big party, and they say us almost by the kitchen area. One of us had a garlic intolerance, and the server went back and forth verifying with kitchen what contained garlic since she didn't know and literally everything contained garlic except a piece of lettuce. That person wasn't able to eat. Ordered mac n cheese for the kids which ended finding out is microwaveable, not made at the restaurant. The service wasn't great, had to ask for silverware, was never brought and then when asked brought just one when we were more than 10 at the table. Also had to request plates and napkins that were never brought till requested. Regarding quality of food it's okay, not great. The pizza was burnt, however the toppings and the rest were alright. Not a great experience overall regarding service, and with the food not being amazing gives no reason to visit on another occasion. read more

Can't comment on the service or ambiance since I placed the order online and picked it up. I can comment on the pizza itself. I loved the crust and the extra Parmesan on the crust gave it added taste. The crust was magnificent. We ordered one mighty meat and they were not stingy on the meat. We also ordered a half and half with half vegggie our and half karma. The veggies were fresh and plentiful. The pizzas were really good. My one and only complaint is the amount of cheese on the pizzas. The base of any pizza is the sauce and cheese, everything else builds from that base. Every bite I take should have crust, sauce, cheese, and whatever topping I ordered. This pizza was generous on the sauce and toppings but was missing the cheese on every bite. As a cheese lover I find a great downfall. read more

During my visit, I experience good customer service; an employee helps me navigate the menu well and is very kind. I order a custom small Vegan pizza which is so filling (for a really good price): I save a slice for breakfast. The ingredients I choose aren't really super flavorful more than subtle. I really decide on eating pizza because I like the way I feel when I eat good pizza especially Sicilian like pizza, fluffy and yummy. Pizza is such a good carrier concept for ingredients. The establishment accepts different forms of payment. read more

I ordered the make your own pizza. I asked for extra sauce but the pizza I got was very dry- almost no sauce at all. I had not eaten Mellow Mushroom pizza for many years, as they did not deliver to my address. I was remembering how great the pizza crust tasted, but this pizza crust was dull and boring tasting. Definitely not special. Cost me $36 for a medium pizza delivered. Will not be ordering again. read more

a poem from A. Mellowmaniacs rejoice, Electric as the air tonight; Leaves fall down on girls and boys, Lights go out, relight Over the sound of some fond voice: "Was that the red sangria or the white?" 7th time eating at mellow mushroom with A. Talk about a night to remember. There are plenty of restaurants out there, but only Mellow Mushroom can provide this much food, happiness, and overall vibes. Halfway through our meal, a storm erupted outside, but inside Mellow Mushroom A. and I didn't feel so much as a drop. As we watched people rushing for shelter from inside we couldn't help but laugh -- sangria, pizza, shelter from the storm. Seconds, anyone? Also, I may be a Mellowmaniac, but I am also a human being. And the scenes of life, love, and community on display have left me considering what on Earth this town would look like if (God Forbid) there was a second Mellow Mushroom here. There would be less crime, more love, and the sangria would flow like water! I got a half Loaded Baked Potato (secret menu item, ya dig?) half Great White pizza, and A. got a half Great White half Mowie Wowie pizza. Both pizza's were awesome, but I think we both agreed that the Great White took the cake. At one point I was like "this pizza might be the Great White, but I'm the one acting like Jaws tonight!" which made about two families near us laugh so loud. And of course, again, we got Sangria. What's more to say? The fruit, the alcohol, the vibes. I want one for free. We both finished our pizzas. We also had water. 10/10 read more

Holy Shiitake: Yes holy shiitake this pizza was AMAZING. The oily garlicky sauce, meaty mushrooms, caramelized onions, and aged cheese added complex flavors and textures to what otherwise would've been a boring vegetarian pizza. Next time will definitely just get the holy shiitake by itself House Special: Weirdly tasted exactly like the Costco combo pizza which is great but Costco isn't a pizza chain. I didn't like how the vegetables were kinda raw and in big pieces which made it unappetizing. Would not get again. Overall, I enjoyed how the crusts were coated w Parmesan and the thickness of the crust - not thin crust but also not thick crust. I saw that the large had only 8 pieces so I was like oh that's fine for two people (I was thinking Matchbox size) but the slices are H U G E, so a medium would've been fine hehe. read more

Mellow Mushroom (although a chain) is one of my favorite pizza places in Charlottesville, VA. Their pizzas are all rich in flavor and have some of the coolest specialty pies I've ever seen. The crust is nice and crispy while retaining a fluffy and airy interior. My favorite pies include: the Loaded Potato Pie, Cosmic Karma, and the Holy Shiitake. Although discontinued, you can ask for the Loaded Potato Pie by asking for the following: "Olive oil and garlic base with roasted red potatoes, jalapeños (subbed from the bacon since I'm vegetarian), caramelized onions, cheddar and mozzarella, chives, drizzle of sour cream & spicy ranch (add a drizzle of Buffalo if you want a kick)." The Cosmic Karma is vegan and the Holy Shiitake is probably one of the best mushroom pies I've ever had! read more

I came on a Monday night and it wasn't very busy, especially at the bar, which is where I sat. The young lady working the bar was great, very friendly and helpful, as well as knowledgeable with the menu. The food was excellent! Salad was very fresh and so was the pizza and the toppings on it. The vibe is fun, upbeat and energetic. They offer lots of varieties of re-designed pizzas as well as the ability to make any kind of pizza you want. Their salads are always creative and yummy too! And they offer lots of appetizers and sandwiches too. Definitely would recommend this location... Based on this visit, I would return! read more

The pizza was great. Thankfully it was near my hotel so my wife and I could walk here because I'm not sure where parking is. I suspect you have to use the paid parking lot I had to use for the hotel. Inside, the environment has the same vibe as all Mellow Mushrooms, which I think is pretty cool. The staff was friendly enough but it took a few minutes to get seated because they had to clean a table, even though there were clean tables available. The pizza was great as we split it into a half Merry Prankster and half Maui Wowie. Both were tasty, with me liking the Merry Prankster more and my wife liking the Maui Wowie more. Worked out. My reservations with this place are we asked for napkins several times and never got them. And when we asked for a box (which came quickly). The inside had been used before (imagine someone put a pizza in there and then immediately took it out). Otherwise worth going to. read more

Love pizza and this place is perfect for pizza lovers!!! I came here when half or Main St had a power outage. I waited at the bar until I could grab a table, as the place was full to capacity due to the power being on and everyone coming here. I asked if I could have the table I stood next to and I was told "Yes, when I'm finished cleaning it." Makes sense, but I wasn't trying to be rude.... and it was awkward to stand next to a dirty table and watch someone clean it without being able to help out. I do think they could have changed the sign from "Please Seat Yourself" to "Wait to be Seated" in this situation and that would work better when the place is packed. Once seated I was bypassed several times since I had a drink in hand. When my (male) friend arrived, things were even more interesting. He was asked several times how his food was, and not me. We both brushed it off because it was so obvious and we chalk it up to having a young server. However, it would be nice as a woman to be asked how my food was- especially because I paid for the entire meal- not my male friend. read more

The pizza options at Mellow are very fun. I've tried the thai pizza and some other fun flavors that I love. The mellow mushroom is a unique pizzeria. First, the physical dining room is very colorful and bright, as are the menu and the dishes displayed on it. I've tried many pizzas from the mellow mushroom, and while they are smaller than typical chain pizzas, they make up for it in flavor and toppings. I'll normally split a pizza, or eat half and take the rest with me. Good prices, great pizza! read more
