It was vibrant in color so I thought it was going to be delicious. Unfortunately the taste didn't match the pic. Chicken was not fresh & was better made for a pizza than a salad. For the price this was not the right choice. The pizza was great. Ample amount of toppings and fresh dough. Plus the sauce was favorful. The other issue was the time. I ordered at 5p and received a text saying delivery on the was at 5:35 but even though the restaurant was 3.5miles away, I didn't receive the order until 6:15...on a Monday night. read more

Always coming back to this spot because of consistency AND speed. Like the flash fast. Depending on traffic, it takes me about 5-10 minutes to drive to Vocelli's and when I get there, it's ready for pick up. This time, ordered one large (I think?) half Hawaiian with feta and the other meat lovers (Meat-A-Palooza) and it was LOADED. Tell me because I genuinely don't know and only ate at this establishment once before but it was takeout: can Lampo beat this quality and price? Bottom line: actually, don't come here. You'll just make it take longer for me to get my pizza :) but seriously, speedy quality pizza is what we hope for on our pizza nights. Normally we love this place and while meat pizza was great, the veggie pizza I ordered my wife was not worth the money. Who the heck just puts giant slices of tomato on a veggie pizza, that end up not even being cooked very well. If you're not going to dice them up, at least cook them like it's a margarita pizza. read more

I don't know if Vocelli Pizza is a chain or not. The one at Brookwood on 29N in Cville is the only one I know of, and they're tops. I live in Georgia now, trying to look after my older brother from three states away. I order his groceries in from the same big box grocery every week, and he gets tired of it. But he never gets tired of Vocelli Pizza. It's always a huge treat. We usually order in when I'm there, and it arrives when promised or better, always piping hot, and so good I burn my palate every time bc I cannot wait. There's pizza and there is Pizza, right? Ordered at the busiest time of the evening and still got our order delivered in under an hour. Easily the hottest food I've ever receive via delivery in my life. Pizza was delicious, and prepared perfectly. And I fully appreciated that they cut our "half and half" pizza in 8 perfect slices to prevent any "there are mushrooms on our half!!" Whining from our kids. The driver even brought paper plates - a saving grace since we were staying at a local hotel - and was kind and courteous! My first time eating Vocelli and pretty yummy for a chain! I ordered 2 large 1 topping Neapolitan pizza- pepperoni and extra cheese. And an order of buffalo wings that were a tiny bit spicy. It was perfect for five people although we definitely could've eaten another order of wings. The pizzas were really yummy, not too oily and one of the better pizzas in Charlottesville. If, like me, you grew up in the rustbelt and crave that good good homestyle comfort pie, this is the place for you. I have spent nearly 7 years in Charlottesville searching for the flavors of home and FINALLY found it - and they even deliver until 1am on weekends, which is a pretty amazing bonus. I believe this is a franchise out of Pittsburgh, but it has the flavors and amazing customer care just like a neighborhood mom and pop shop. We've ordered delivery twice when we've had recent guests in town. The first time we ordered, the pies were hot and fast - we tried a pepperoni onion to get a good read on a classic, and tried the garlic spinaci (one of their specialty pies). Both were absolutely excellent. The pepperonis are small and crisp up really nicely. There's enough cheese, but not a ton, and the sauce is thick and flavorful. The crust is neither thin or super thick and has great chew and flavor. The garlic spinaci pizza we ordered was an awesome vegetarian white pie, and was really satisfying and flavorful. It has a lot going on and hit the spot for our veggie and meat eating guests alike. Now, here's the thing that really makes me LOVE this place. The second time we ordered, we got the exact same order for delivery. The delivery estimate was 35-40 minutes and after an hour and fifteen minutes we were still waiting and hungry. My husband called to check-in on where our pizza might be, and the manager who answered the phone was able to pinpoint the issue (the driver who took our order had too many stops before us), apologized kindly, and asked if it would be okay to drop by our house in a few minutes. Our pizzas arrived five minutes later, and five minutes after that, the OWNER showed up at our house with tokens for free pizzas, apologized again, and told us how much our business means to him. The OWNER. At our DOOR. That is some serious dedication to keep our business and leave us with an incredibly positive experience. Instead of feeling a little sad that our pizza wasn't piping hot, we popped the boxes in a low oven and talked about how we can't wait to recommend this place to everyone we know. The pie was still very delicious. For a town that doesn't have much to offer in the way of delivery pizza that isn't from a big-name chain, Vocelli really stands out. I've ordered from these guys a few times now. Yes, the food is good without a doubt. Pizza, wings, pasta, all great. But what sets them apart from the other guys, especially delivery, is the service. For example: I place an order and added a few cookies for dessert. Got a call that they were out of cookies (cooking more) and if I wanted another dessert or if I wanted to wait. The concern was my other food would get cold. I wasn't in a rush and I knew they could keep the pizza warm, so I told them to hold for when cookies were done. Get this-they deliver the pizza, send a few cannolis for free, then COME BACK and bring cookies when they were ready. Yes, they returned to my house over an order of $1.99 cookies! Store staff was very apologetic, but we waited for over an hour before learning that our driver had returned our order to the store instead of delivering it. AmaZing service, came here after midnight to pickup a large half cheese and half mushroom and meatball pizza. They realized they made a mistake and made the whole pizza all meatball and mushroom. Quickly offered to remake a separate cheese pizza. The guy who made the simple mistake even came out around the counter just to apologize and try to help. This is the third time in a row that I have ordered pizzas for pick-up and the order has not been ready or something has gone wrong. Each time, I ordered one hour before I wanted to pickup. They have either not gotten the the pizza in the oven by the time I arrive to pick up, the order is prepared incorrectly, or my order is sitting there and they can't find it and consequently I get cold pizza. I was told it's going to take one hour and twenty minutes. Had some work to do so I didn't mind. Ten minutes after the estimated delivery time I called grub hub who called the restaurant and told me it's going to be five minutes late. Called grub hub three times and each time I was told driver is few minutes away. I got my cold pizza and warm drink after almost two hours of waiting. I ordered two waters and received only one. In Vocelli's defense, I didn't know it was a chain. Had I known that, I would have expected bad pizza and ordered from somewhere else. This isn't the worst pizza you'll ever have, but it's nothing impressive. I would have saved more by getting the same quality at Domino's or a Digiorno. The crust was huge, so there was a smaller surface area for cheese. The sauce was good, I will admit. But the pepperoni was ridiculous. Its my day off from work and the kids' first day of spring break. The kids picked this instead of the superb Salvadoran place in the same parking lot. No biggie. I've had Vocelli before and been unimpressed, but it wasn't offensive, either. They have given good deals to the school for functions. That is actually a very good description overall of the place. Nice people, good, friendly service but mediocre pizza. We ordered a large half pepperoni and sausage, half cheese pie, takeout. As promised it was ready in ten minutes and delivered hot with a smile. We got it home. No surprises other than the sausage is pretty spicy. Not much flavor to the sauce. On par with Dominoes or CiCi's. Again, not terrible, but nothing I'd ask for again anytime soon. As I think about it, they didn't offer us paper plates or napkins, which I don't gripe too much about, but might have been nice if were had been taking it to a park instead of home.
