Friday nights are busy so it can take a while for the mains But we didn't mind. This time we came and got our usual. The holy Shitake pie and the pizza rolls. So delicious. If you like mushrooms and garlic the holy shitake is for you! I asked the server for a recommendation of a cider. I tried the blackberry one he suggested and it was awesome. Bottom line: Mellow Mushroom did a good job with our takeout/pickup pizza for friends' movie night. Positive and non eventful pickup/checkout process in bright and nice restaurant atmosphere. I would inquire about thin crust versions in the future as this crust was a bit thick for my preference but tasty pizza slices to enjoy. Note that they are pretty generous on the sauce here for the cheese pizza. The Deets: I experienced this location of Mellow Mushroom off of Cary Parkway for some take out pizza to enjoy while having a movie night with friends. They have many varieties to go with on their menu but we went with one cheese pizza and one House Special (requesting no peppers) pizza. The House Special includes a variety of meat and veggies toppings that appealed to most everyone. We were advised that they would be ready for pickup in approx 30 minutes. When we arrived, the restaurant itself was nice, bright/colorful, and clean. We were directed to the back counter where to go orders were for pickup when we entered. Our pizzas were ready as promised, checkout was smooth, pleasant, and non eventful. Everyone enjoyed their pizza back at movie night, they were made well. I think, for my personal tastes, I would inquire about/get a thin crust version if available in the future though. Even though the crust was a bit thicker than I prefer on this order and pretty generous with the sauce on the cheese pizza, I liked my pizza slices otherwise and they hit the spot. This place is very good for the price! We got a well done pepperoni and the meatballs. I think this place is missing a huge opportunity to make more money selling spaghetti. Their meatballs and sauce are very solid, all they have to do is boil spaghetti and BOOM we are here every month. It's odd they dont just boil some pasta but hey, we still had a good time eating. I have been eating at Mellow Mushroom for years, generally I have a good experience with the staff and the food is great...but I can guarantee that I will never be back to this location. The customer experience I had with the staff at this location was absolutely inexcusable and honestly pathetic. I arrived at the store early for my online pickup order. The young girl who greeted me at the counter had kindly checked on my order, let me know that my pizza was in the oven as we spoke, and got my drink ready for me while I waited. I sat at the counter next to the meal prep station and waited patiently, recognizing that they were busy during peak dinner hours. I watched my pizza get finished and boxed, and then walked over to the warmer to which I can only assume was because our side order of mellow rollz were not ready yet. I continued to sit there for over 20 minutes, watching several other to-go orders get handed out, and watching my order status on their screen turn from green to orange to red without a single person caring. The young woman handing out the to-go orders walked by me 10+ times without saying a single word to me or making eye contact to allow me to flag her down and ask her about my order. After finally turning to me and brusquely asking what I was waiting for, I told her that I was a pick-up order and the other girl indicated it would be ready 15 minutes ago. She promptly turned to the screen and scrolled to find my order in red at twenty four minutes late. Here is where this establishment lost my business. I can empathize with a busy dinner hour and many moving parts to orders that can get lost in the shuffle. I was patient with the fact that my order was 20+ minutes late. I can even understand her not being able to stop and address me earlier and I could have been more assertive to flag her down. However, I have 0 patience for the pitiful, piss poor customer service that I experienced afterwards. This woman proceeded to grab my boxes out of the warmer, walk back over to me, and TOSS MY BOXES AT ME WITHOUT A SINGLE WORD. She 'slid' the boxes towards me and turned right back around without even looking at me. She did not offer me a coupon or dessert for the late food. She did not offer to refresh my fountain drink that sat for over 20 minutes and got watered down. Both of these are excusable. But it is unforgivable that this girl, because calling her a woman would be a disservice to women everywhere who operate with manners and consideration, would not even look at me and either 1. thank me for my patience and for waiting so long or 2. APOLOGIZE for the fact that they blatantly fucked up my order. It's service like this that can absolutely ruin the customer experience and overshadow any other positive aspect of my meal. I promise I will tell every single person I know to avoid this mellow location because if they don't want to treat their customers like real people then their business reputation should reflect that, and they deserve the same amount of respect that they show their customers. read more

Good pizza, good service, good time. What I mean by good pizza is they had smalls I could order for personal use, and many choices, including a build-it-yourself. I like that because eating an entire pizza is awesome. As long as it's small. What I mean by good service is the gentleman was attentive but obviously an introvert turning on the "friendliness" for the job's sake. And the tip's sake. I know what that's like because I used to do it too. His awkward but kind attention was at once welcome and hovering. What I mean by a good time - it wasn't busy and parking was a breeze. I'm easy to please that way. However, I gotta say that it seemed to struggle with a kind of divey feel for a chain restaurant. Can't put my finger on it but something was amiss. Place an order online for just one pizza. Was given a pick up time, 50 minutes. Got there and it ended up being more than 2 hours before the pizza was ready from the time of the original order. I've had a few different experiences at this location over the past year or two. I've ordered takeout twice and dined in once. The first takeout order was great, pizza was hot with good portion sizes on the salads. My second takeout order was terrible, so bad that I threw out most of it. I can't put my finger on exactly what was so bad, but the pizza just tasted terrible and the pretzel bites didn't taste right. Dining in with a group was different. The service was wonderful and truly the only reason for any stars at all. The pizza was, again, really gross. The cheese tasted mushy and liquified like the nacho cheese from 7-11. I've been eating at various locations of Mellow Mushroom all over Florida for 15 years, as well as the one in Asheville a few times. They've all been awesome! It makes me really sad that the one in my town is the worst one I've experienced. I hope they pinpoint the problem and fix it before they go out of business. Unfortunately this restaurant chooses to accept any and all call in orders at the expense of service to their dine in customers. They clearly do not have adequate oven capacity as evidenced by the ever present 30 order tickets we observed all evening awaiting fulfillment. We went in on a Monday and sat on the outdoor patio. $3.50 craft draft specials with really great pizza on a crisp Spring evening. We got the large special pizza for the carnivores and I picked the tempeh hoagie sandwich. I was a little bummed when the 2 beers I wanted were on the menu but not available. I picked the only available stout but it was pretty good so the evening wasn't necessarily beer-free Kids loved the coloring menu with options for puzzles. Justin, our host was a superb help to make choices with the variety offerings. Had a free pretzel bite appetizer from the rewards email and it was so good we will definitely get it again. The pizza itself is not super thin crust but isn't a thick crust either. It is very filling given its Pan style, crusty but soft and puffy deliciousness. Didn't get soggy midway into the meal so that speaks volumes. The tempeh hoagie was a total surprise. Didn't expect to pack such delicate flavors so well- even the carnivore stole half of it! We've been coming to this location for 10 years and had the worst experience we've ever had at any Mellow Mushroom tonight. We're used to this location being busy and experiencing waits, however we've also seen a manager walking around checking on tables and letting folks know if the kitchen is backed up. I'm not sure if that manager has been replaced, but throughout the whole ordeal this evening even asking for a manager we weren't approached by one. We ordered Parmesan pretzels and were brought salted pretzels with mustard, the waitress brought us some red sauce and apologized but there wasn't much she could do since we'd already waited so long for them and our kids were starving. Then when they brought out our pizzas, they made the incorrect one for my wife (the waitress realized it as she was putting it on the table - who by the way was one of the best waitresses there we've had, I would have given her 5 stars) and had to remake her dinner. Since they were busy we had to eat while she waited and the whole family was done by the time her correct food came out. Long story short all we wanted was an apology from the manager and they refused to come out and just had the waitress blame it on "being busy". 0/5 stars. read more

Mellow Mushroom's always a solid choice for pizza, but I've found that the service at this location is usually pretty slow - about 1.5 hours for a weekday lunch. My go-to's are usually the Holy Shiitake Pie (olive oil and garlic base, shiitake, button, and portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, mozzarella, garlic aoli swirl, black truffle oil, chives, and fresh parmesan) or the Kosmic Karma (red sauce, feta, mozzarella, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, roma tomatoes, and pesto swirl). Hey, so, I NEVER leave reviews, but this was such a disappointing experience that I think people should be wary before spending their money here. I used to frequent Mellow Mushroom as a kid, but hadn't had it in years, as my career took me to a state without its delicious pizza. I recently moved back and have been craving it ever since. Last night I gave into the craving and placed a take-out order and spent about $45 on a half-and-half pizza that was half buffalo chicken, half mighty meat. I also got hot wings, and pepperoni bread. Honestly, I wish I hadn't spent a single dollar there and I will probably never go back, and highly recommend people avoid it. First of all, that's a pretty high price for that amount of food. I didn't care at the time, because I thought the quality would be as it was in the past. I was wrong. The pizza wasn't even COOKED. Literally uncooked dough right in the middle of the pie. Not only that, but the buffalo chicken half had no sauce on it! No base of buffalo sauce or ranch on top. The mighty meat half had entire slices without toppings! Like, what? That's what y'all do! Make pizza! How does this get made so poorly? The "crispy, twice baked" wings were so soggy that we tried to bake them again in our own toaster over to try and actually make them crispy, but they had very little sauce that wasn't hot at all, so we honestly just ended up throwing most of the 10 wings in the trash, as they were so soggy we didn't want to risk getting sick. Finally, the pepperoni bread. I have no idea what happened here, but they put it in a box without anything underneath it, SO THE CHEESE LITERALLY MELTED TO THE BOX. We opened it and were legitimately confused that half of the cheese was stuck to the cardboard, and we were only able to eat what we could pick off if it. Again, NO CLUE how a place can charge this much money and do such a bad job. Like, tremendously awful. The people who worked there were friendly, my order was ready immediately (pickup time was 8:07, we were there on time), so that's what the one star is for. I'd have left 0 stars if not for that. Honestly, I would have been happy to wait longer if it meant they were going to actually cook my food. I doubt they read this or really care, as the place seems very corporate now, but please, PLEASE, try another pizza place. This place isn't what it used to be and I think they're just trying to capitalize on nostalgia at the risk of their customers. I'm sorry if this review came across aggressively, I'm just so disappointed that a place I loved as a kid is now a place I never want to go to again. Update: The manager/owner of this location reached out and was extremely nice and apologetic. They refunded my money and have offered for me to come by and try out another pie, which I am more than happy to take them up on, as I love this place and hope it was just a bad night.
