It's now called Meizhou Cuisine, dropping the Express from their name. It's located in an area of Baldwin Park where you'd least expect to find a Chinese restaurant that actually serves food catered to an Eastern palate. Most dishes are spicy, but won't burn your mouth, much. They're also oily, often bathing in a pool of reddish chili oil. But the flavors are great. Inside is clean, and they have some photos on the wall arranged artistically. Service is pleasant. Our server, the only one working the small dining area is polite and courteous, but not too personable. Bang bang chicken: My 2nd time having this. Chicken slices soaked in seasoned chili oil. Portions were larger before, but still good. Sliced beef, also served in a spicy oil w/ crushed peanuts on yop. Good flavor, equally heavy on the grease factor. Dan dan noodles. Also 2nd time having this. There's a bit of initial heat but the palate quickly adjusts. Also greasy. Dongpo pork belly w/ steamed buns. Fatty pork pieces, very tender and good flavor, cooked with sour pickled cabbage to put inside the bun. Delicious. Dongo Crispy Duck, perhaps the mildest in flavor and the only underwhelming dish. The meat is very lean for duck, but it's dry and bland. The skin isn't crisy at all, so this is one dish I'll probably not order again. The prices points are very reasonable. All of the dishes were about $47.00 including tax. Meizhou Cuisine can be considered a hidden gem. The exterior doesn't look like a restaurant, and the location had me skeptical at first. But one visit showed me this little eatery has some authentic spicy Chinese food. Tips: Use GPS to find this place. Private parking lot, but looks like it's shared with another business. As of 9/2018, there's a lot of road construction on Maine Ave., where Meizhou is located. Don't be afraid of the pool of lava in your food, it's not that bad. Finally, I learned this from Asian elders; don't drink iced water when eating greasy foods. Have warm or hot water to help dissolve the grease that going down your stomach. Seems logical to me! read more

This place was so authentic. I got the minced pork noodles, pork belly, chinese cabbage and pork buns. The pork belly melted in my mouth and was covered in preserved vegetables which added to the flavor. I also really liked the presentation. The food was very pretty and easy to look at. Yum went here again recently and ordered their fish soup with pickled veggies. It was delicious. Very spicy though... to the point where they offered to dilute it for us with soup base. We also ordered the veggie fried rice and a side order of spring rolls (free because of the flyer we had). The veggie fried rice was on the salty side but I would say most things are on the saltier side here. Overall, the flavor is still good though. Good service as per usual. A solid 4.5. I ordered the chicken dumplings, pork buns, and Dan Dan noodle soup. The soup takes the cake. It's really delicious! Perfect for cold weather. The portion is pretty big. A bunch of us came here for dinner after a walk in the park. I haven't tried any regional food when I was in China but I can tell it was super authentic. They spoke mandarin so I wasn't the one ordering. We ordered many types of noodles and dumplings and some were a bit too spicy for me. Will not eat here after this. I was going to eat in, but the woman was already mopping the place and just stared like she didn't want me to be there so I ordered for to go. I was only allowed to sit at the seat closest to the exit so she can clean the rest of the floor and she was yelling from the register to ask me what I wanted to order. This is lowest of the low type of service and it's laughable. Mind you this review is just the service and not even the food. I can't believe this place has been open for more than a year and my family has never come here to eat. This place has a small menu and it's good at what it does. I do want to try the bigger main restaurant someday, though. In general, this place is pretty darn good, but in my opinion more on the expensive side. We ordered the sliced beef ($5.99), pork buns (3 pieces for $4.99), wonton soup ($7.50), dan dan noodles ($7.99), and their (veggie) fried rice ($7.00). The sliced beef and dan dan noodles were good, but to be fair I don't have anything to compare them to. I normally don't eat spicy food because I'm weak and can't handle the spice. 5/5 The pork buns were slightly salty but still good. 4/5 The wonton soup comes with 12 pieces of wonton, but wasn't filling enough. It also had celery (?) in there, which I didn't like. The broth isn't as flavorful as some other broths I've had-- it's pretty light in flavor. 3.5/5 The fried rice (veggie) is pretty good. There's cabbage and chopped (pickled?) veggies. I only tried a bit of the fried rice and avoided eating those veggies I couldn't identify. 4/5 Service is great. There's enough seating and when we went to eat it was about a third occupied-- not too desolate, not too packed. read more

Came here for lunch and it wasn't too packed, I was able to finish my food and even got back to work early. There are a number of tables and lots of parking. The service was excellent and quick! All you need to do is check off what you want on the list. I ordered a beef noodle soup and the soup was super flavorful and piping hot, just the way I like it especially on a cold day. The pieces of beef is incredibly tender and the noodles were thin and chewy. It did not disappoint! Would recommend coming here if you're noodles and soup! read more

First of all, let me start with YOU NEED TO DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND EAT HERE! Incredibly delicious food was served up and in great portions! We ordered the Dan Dan Noodles, Pork buns, Dongpo pork belly with buns, pan fried chicken dumplings, and two orders of Sichuan dumplings and WOW!! Starting with the Dan Dan Noodles, they were the perfect spice level, and I love spicy food so this started things off great. They were so delicious I could not keep my hands off of them! Next up was the Dongpo Pork Belly and buns and wow the buns were perfection. It was like eating a cloud with delicious meat. The pan fried chicken dumplings were some of the best I've had. They literally bursted with flavor. So juicy they left my mouth watering for more! Finally the Sichuan packed the heat!! I loved it and they were equally juicy and packed with flavor along with the rest of the food. The staff was so incredibly welcoming and friendly, they gave us a plate of mung bean noodles which as I mentioned I'm a heat lover but boy did this plate leave me sweating!! But they were so fresh and tasty. I will definitely be coming back here and in the mean time will look back at the pictures to remember the greatness I enjoyed. read more

As a new transplant to BP, I had imagined Chinese food was something I would find in other regions of the 626. Little did I know I would find this little gem. Located on Maine, this place looks more like a warehouse from the outside than an actual restaurant. When you walk in, it's like stepping in to a T4 boba shop, but instead of the smell of sugar you are welcomed by the smells of some dongpo spices. Overall the food here is quite solid. Their dan dan mian is solid, a different interpretation that is on par in quality with my beloved Ding's Garden. If you like peppercorn and mala, you gonna like this place a lot. The lady friend is a big fan as well, so that's a plus. They are affiliated with meizhou dongpo, the more $$$ version and Westfield Malls favorite. Think of this place as the pei wei to PF Chang, but in a positive way! read more

This is by far my fav spot for authentic sichuanese food, tapas style. We drive for an hour to get here and it is totally worth it. I was in LA for a business meeting and was recommended by a local employee. I loved it!!!! Our waitress was impressively multilingual and the service was quick. I loved that the table has drawers for utensils and napkins and stuff, so you can grab them yourself. We ordered the Beef Noodle Soup. The beef was tender. The noodles were a ramen texture. The soup was delicious. The veggies were soft. It was a small bowl, but surprisingly filling. Warmed my insides. They also had these new special Purple Yam Black Rice Buns and Sweet Buns (豬豬包), but I may be messing up the actual names. Both buns were good, not too sweet, but it got the job done as a dessert. And the Sweet Buns (豬豬包)were SOOOOO adorable!!!!! I think the filling was lotus paste or red bean paste. I'll most likely be going back for the Dan Dan Noodles during my next LA business trip. read more

Looking for authentic Chinese cuisine and like it spicy? This is one of the very few Asian places in Baldwin Park that is worth trying. This location is actually the same chain as the big one in Arcadia mall. You guys have to try the pork belly dish. It is perfectly moist, melts in your mouth, and nothing but flavor. Poor customer service. Went there to pickup food. No one greeted me when walking in. Until I stood in front of the cashier a lady came and all she said was "$35 dollar 23 cents". (I was the only pickup order at the time so she knew it's me). She put a receipt and a pen on the desk to have me sign but still say nothing. I signed and left the restaurant felt like that was a 7-eleven. Hope they learn to say "Hi" and " Thank you" in English in the future. read more

I was ordering 2 Pig trotter soup @$8.99 each as before with Meizhou express via one of their website/Qmenu on Google the other day; then price changed to $10.99 each when I was there to pick up my food as clerk said she just received my internet order on her cellphone and didn't know what Qmenu is since they are under new management with new price list and limited delivery/pick up function.... So I paid 4 dollars more for a taste too salty soup than before and so disappointed with clerk's rude attitude since she even said I should call to confirm my order without any regret about the Price change. read more

I eat wonton soup all the time and this has to be the worst I've ever had and that includes the Chinese food in Florida. My family and I went here around 2 today (Sunday). There was no wait but the place was pretty full (bc it's a small place). Apparently this is the same chain as the one in Arcadia-Santa Anita Mall but my parents said that this one is soooooo much better AND cheaper too! We ordered the Sichuan heartbreaker, chicken potstickers, dan dan noodles, hot and sour glass noodles, spicy duck wings, meizhou shumai, and drunken rice ball soup for the four of us. We were pleased with everything and we were able to finish everything! Overall I loved this place and wish it was closer to home for me. The waitress told us that the sichuan heartbreaker was free with yelp check in. There was no sign anywhere but I guess she mentioned it because we were going to order it anyways.
