So I'm at Meijer's and apparently you cannot purchase anything because the systems are down. However, they allow you to come into the store to shop then inform you at the checkout of the systems being down. The Manager (Mike) is rude as hell came over said you can't purchase nothing systems down and walked back to the conversation he was having with two other employees. The cashier said Mike it's 1.39, Mike said that's 1.51 with tax. I dont need anything for free but this was a complete waste of my time, energy, and gas. Mind you I only had bananas and just went there for my grandma, they didn't have what else it was she needed. This place is the pits and shouldn't be open 24 hours a day. Clearly if you come in after hours you get the worst customer service ever and I've been here several times after hours and experienced issues. The employees always have complaints and enjoy talking to each other, not necessarily assisting customers but Mike took the cake. There is absolutely no way he should represent the company as a manager to say the least. Although this location is the closest to my house I usually go to the Oswego location never had problems there. read more

This store sucks. The employees are slow - don't care - you are expected to ring your own groceries - if I'm ringing my own groceries and paying the same price as those going thru the regular lines - is better get a discount!!! If you use a regular check out they are very slow with very view open and you have to stand in line for a long time! If you have a complaint - the store management doesn't care and does nothing to resolve it. I had an issue with their ignorant employees and they did nothing to resolve it. Go to Jewel!! read more

Meijers is a great place for a bargain. I always come out with more than is on my list. Just a note though, don't buy candy that's on the clearance rack in the electronics section. It tasted like soap! I would have returned it except we tried each one to see what they tasted like LOL! Yuck! I love their produce on sale. It's always fresher and larger than other local stores. I also want to say the cashiers are friendly and although I've had to wait for help, they do try their best to help. read more

Hey everyone!!! Just want to let you know that the Meijer at 135th and rt 59 in Plainfield has an issue with the credit card security at their gas pumps. I bought gas there and my credit card was compromised less than a week later. Happened a about a year ago also.......Called and spoke with the store manager who just about called me crazy. So either pay cash or avoid that gas station!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Not all meijers are created equally. Remember that when you are doing your next meijer run. I typically shop at the Oswego meijer and I am so glad that I do. For starters the produce department gets picked over more than Plainfield but Oswego has better looking produce and it lasts. Items in grocery are more frequently in stock. However the biggest factor why the Plainfield meijer is worth one star is their lack of customer service with emphasis on items not ringing up at the correct price. When I have questioned them on it they refuse to honor the price that the item was marked at and to top it off every time it has happened they try to put the blame on me. For example I was accused of taking video games out of the locked cases and putting them under the $19.99 or less header. Or the time that frozen french fries were 5 for $10 on the shelf and the 5 bags rang up at $17. by no means am I saying you should boycott this meijer if you do shop here use the self scan lanes so you can keep a better eye on what your items ring up at. read more

The bathrooms on the north side are closed for remodeling. That leaves the unisex south side that is filthy. I've used that bathroom a number of times over the years and it's always filthy. You would think with one bathroom for all the customers and employees they would put a little extra effort into keeping it clean. read more

Love this store! The overall prices are good and I live that it's s super store! Produce is usually fresh & meat is pretty good as well. Only issue I have is that they never have enough cash registers open & most of the cashiers don't care how they bag your groceries. They should train their employees on the that. read more

I like this place because shopping with crowds is the worst possible thing imaginable. I always shop at off hours and I have had no major issues. If you come after 8pm, it's like the store is half empty, which is awesome and super peaceful. Once in a while there are some register issues, but 9 times out of 10, I'm in and out. read more

Pretty much any Meijer that you go to, if you absolutely need to find something find any staff member and they'll have no idea where it is. Be wary as chances are you'll run into expired or rancid food. Be careful of the clearance on food products as they are usually within hours or seconds from getting someone sick or worse dead. Deli meats usually expire within one to two days of purchasing so don't buy too much unless you are using all of it for parties and such. I do shop here, but very careful of what I am buying. Returned several gallons of milk here the other day as the milk was curdled and tried to exchange. I told front desk I would exchange which wasn't any problem but the two new gallons I picked up I opened in front of the associate and those were also curdled. Associate nearly threw up on me. This is when the associate told me that I was the third or fourth person to return curdled milk that morning and they were going to recall all of the milk at that point. This is your warning, but I am in no way telling you not to shop here. read more

Last time to ever shop at Meijer! I have been a loyal customer for years in Cincinnati and Plainfield, but for at least the last 6 months, the shelves have not been stocked. I have been given several excuses- "we had an extremely busy weekend," it's the vendors fault,", "it's our new computer systems fault", and finally, "I have no idea why so let me look into it."- All lip service!! I have an mperks account, but now Jewel also has digital coupons..you better get your act together over there because the competition is moving in and I am a customer who values my time so will be shopping elsewhere,a place with stocked selves!! And no, it is not just the sale items that are gone (went today at 9am, the first day of the sale and no stock) but also regular priced items as well!! I wish I could give zero stars!! read more

I shop here weekly. The store greeter is So nice!! The have great produce always! Their prices are much better then any other store in the area. Only negative is that they always seem to be short handed on checkout clerks. read more

I bought a 15 oz can of the Meijer Fruit Cocktail. On the label, it states it has 3.5, 1/2 cup servings. However, the can has just under 3 (more like 2 1/2), 1/2 cup servings. I use a half cup container every day for my lunch and only was able to fill this 2 3/4 times. Thus it was 3/4 to 1 whole serving under what the can states it is supposed to have. I did not get what I paid for and I feel this is false advertising and dishonest to the customer as we work hard for our money and want the value we are being told we are getting. So, a woman named Lena, from Meijer in Plainfield, called and left a message on my phone to call her back. I called her back the next day during the time she said she would be there. A man answered the call and said she was on the phone. Every couple minutes he came back on and said she was still on the phone. After a few times, he asked for my name and said she would call back. She never did call back. So, I am guessing customer satisfaction is not that much of a concern for her. As far as the issue goes, I went to Walmart and bough a can of their store brand fruit cocktail. It too listed 3 1/2 servings per can on the label. Unlike the Meijer brand which only had about 2 1/2 servings, the Great Value brand had 3 1/2 servings in the can. read more

I usually have an okay time going here, but this most recent time was not the greatest. Nothing wrong with the store, just the products they sell. I bought two of the Starbucks frappuccino things, one vanilla and one s'mores. The next day, I started drinking the vanilla one. I was pretty tired, and about halfway through drinking it I realized there was white film at the top of it, and it pretty much tasted like crap, and then I checked the date on the bottle. It expired on May 23, 2016. I then checked the other one I bought to see what date it said, and it said January 23, 2017. Please, check the dates of your products every once in a while. I'm probably never buying one of those again from this place. I have a big fear of eating or drinking anything expired or spoiled, so I spent the next hour trying to get the taste out of my mouth, and I eventually coughed up a little of the drink. I don't recall this happening any other time here, so that's why this gets 3 stars. read more
