Chicken Pot pie for dinner!

If you are looking for a grocery store with excellent produce, great prices, and a friendly local market atmosphere...this is it! Fresh Thyme is my go to for just about everything! From delicious produce, a super fresh fish and meat selection, a stocked salad/soup bar, and great sundry items...Fresh Thyme has it! I especially love the essential oil and homeopathic section here. So many options and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about The product lines they carry. Also, the plants and flowers are so pretty here. They always have seasonal sales and a unique selection. Stop in for a quick grocery grab and you will be happily surprised! Worth a trip!

Great soups and a great salad bar. Excellent selection of cheeses. While my family has not been fond of any of the ready made pasta meals, nor the quiche, they love the Boar's Head sandwiches and the pot pies. And who can resist a free fruit stand for little ones while you shop? Not to mention a hidden tractor with a prize if they locate it! Fresh Thyme has an adequate selection of fruits and vegetables, but I'm forced to go elsewhere more frequently than I'd like, because they often don't have produce that I need. What they have is always very fresh. With a celiac family member, this store honestly saves me. They are full of GF items, which makes my life easier when he comes for dinner. Freshly ground peanut butter and OJ that's squeezed onsite and tastes like candy is what keeps me coming back though.

Great for healthy choices! Clean, helpful employees. A bit hard to find unless you've been there.

Numerous times, I have caught them overcharging and quoting weights that were larger than what it was. I stopped going to their questionable integrity. Thankfully, there are many other farmers in the area that I prefer to support. One of them is certified organic.

I have gone here for over 20 years, and during most visits I have not been treated well. The ladies have been unhelpful, or closed-mouthed when answering my questions, and just simply unfriendly. Perhaps they are just over-worked or tired. At least that's how I justified their off-handed treatment of me, and my continued patronage over the years. So I put up with a fleeting moment of mistreatment. But today, that same old bad attitude appeared after I asked a simple question during my visit, that could've been answered more directly & easily. I questioned myself why do I even bother, especially when their produce isn't superior to other places I can go, to get farm fresh produce. There are more farmer's markets around, such as McDonald's Farm at Knoch Knolls Park in Naperville. Maybe my visits were wrapped in (wannabe) nostalgia, or due to convenience of location. Whatever, today I hit the top of my tolerance for their rude-ish treatment. This decision should have been made after an earlier visit this summer when a cashier looked at me crazy because I did not leave an electronically-produced request for a tip. For what?? Standing there just doing your job ringing up an order??? And lastly, their produce isn't the tastiest, and is really overpriced in comparison to other places around. I guess I kind of felt sorry & wanted to support the place. But no more. I am finally done. Fed up and moving on. Mayneland Farm is no longer an option for me.

They have decided to stop the music and the people stopped coming and now there's very few vendors. Bad decision you guys. And what makes it even worse is they are still advertising live music. You see people walking around with lawn chairs asking where the band is playing. Horrible.

On the plus side: local farmers, local businesses, live band, kids' activities, on the premises of The Promenade Bolingbrook mall - so plenty of parking plus if you need to shop at the mall you can do both. Lots of people, which is great! On the not negative side: in our eyes, a farmers' market should promote local, family-owned, small businesses, not huge corporate chains. We were disappointed to see there were a lot of chain restaurants in their own booths, promoting/serving their food. Yes, there should be hot food served at the farmers' market, but it should come from local restaurants. We probably won't come back. We decided to stop in and check it out mostly because we saw the signs coming out of IKEA. Overall, not a bad experience, but not fabulous either.

You can stop by any time from June to October on Saturdays I believe- weather dependent. The market is on the smaller side so you can get through it quickly. There is still a pretty big selection here of local goodies. From donuts to coffee to homemade jewelry and all in between. We ended up grabbing a few bags of coffee from Gigawatt coffee roasters. We got the Ethiopian medium roast and the Costa Rican light roast. The Ethiopian had honey, strawberry and shortbread notes. The Costa Rican one had orange, peach, and brown sugar notes. My favorite had to be the Costa Rican one but I like my coffee roasts light so it has an unfair advantage ;) Both coffees had a super smooth taste. I wish I could bottle up the smell of the freshness!! Grinding and brewing these beans filled up our kitchen so nicely. They also put the roast date on the package which is a huge bonus for us coffee snobs. All in all, we enjoyed our time here at the market. Everyone was very friendly and like I mentioned, the market is easily walkable.
