I truly wish I had satisfied my curiosity earlier though as I found a great variety of new and familiar products available on Yangon's shelves which I now know I don't have to drive all the way to Fox Valley to get. There's a halal butcher and just a plain butcher, about which as a vegetarian I can tell you nothing, a bakery, and a Latin American and Indian mini-cafe. The produce section is very crowded (and offers a wild variety with some excellent specials), and the endcaps on the aisles extend into the aisle, meaning in several places there's only room for one cart and you'll have to excuse yourself to get where you're going. Be prepared. I was impressed by their selection of organic spices and they also had some organic Asian noodles (buckwheat and soba). They also have a good selection of Latin American groceries, including huancaina sauce from Peru (yes!), frozen plantains and Guarana soda. I've seen larger selections of Indian and Eastern European products at dedicated specialty groceries, but no one else in the area carries it all. Many, many different types of flatbread and a wide selection of Middle Eastern sweets; various dry pulses; various types of candy; pearled farro and more versions of burek than I've seen before, including a "vegan be'f". The Indian mini-cafe is half vegetarian, half non; the Latin American one has various kinds of filling in carbs, and if you're vegetarian, all they have is cheese - though the fried corn-dough empanada, cheese in an eggroll like wrapper and pastelito (cheese in pastry) offered various textural delights. This is a haul for me, and I usually try to avoid I-59 but this place might be worth a special trip.

Why wouldn't you want to support a local business who does so much for our community? Bring cash or check. Actually, just bring your checkbook; you might see all of the produce and not want to have to keep it below your cash on hand. There are more farmer's markets around, such as McDonald's Farm at Knoch Knolls Park in Naperville. Maybe my visits were wrapped in (wannabe) nostalgia, or due to convenience of location. Whatever, today I hit the top of my tolerance for their rude-ish treatment. This decision should have been made after an earlier visit this summer when a cashier looked at me crazy because I did not leave an electronically-produced request for a tip. For what?? Standing there just doing your job ringing up an order??? And lastly, their produce isn't the tastiest, and is really overpriced in comparison to other places around. They have local produce year-round, even in winter, and some of the specials are really good. I'm really happy to have bulk spices available, and they have things here it's hard to find elsewhere (more kinds of organic cheese than Whole Foods, and they regularly carry organic parsnips and affordable organic citrus, for example). They had some local plums that were SO DELICIOUS that I've never seen anywhere and will definitely be looking for again. I also really like that you don't have to buy produce wrapped in plastic (cucumbers; bell peppers). The grab and go pizza is really tasty, and I'm a big fan of Bakehouse, who does their bread. They have cronuts every Friday. They even sell alcohol (which I don't really buy but maybe you do). They have a bunch of prepared foods and coffee, and they host regular events like a bring-your-own craft night, or a presentation on Mexican cuisine. Very cool. Service is friendly and the store is well-lit, with lots of parking and a small dedicated parking section right by the doors. Checkout is at these weird desks that don't really work (I guess there wasn't room for a real counter or a conveyor?) Overall, prices are somewhat high, and the canned good selection and frozen produce selection is fairly small. But if you like organic produce, bulk spices and high-quality baked goods and you're willing to pick and choose, shopping the specials, you should add it to your rounds.
