Today, I'm writing what might turn out to be a controversial review. I've always enjoyed shopping Meijer for many reasons and sadly today will be the last time I shop there. COVID-19 has changed our lives and there are things that are required so we can keep each other safe. Some examples are social distancing, wearing masks, hand washing, concerts and sporting events cancelled to name just a few. Today I noticed Meijer allowing customers in to shop without masks, or not even reminding them to put one on. I approached an employee and asked what the policy was and he told me they were told not to do anything. I approached the customer and offered her a mask, she refused and told me she was not wearing a mask to make a political statement. I thought perhaps she forgot, or didn't have and needed a mask. I had both a spare new paper and new cloth mask as some people have medical reasons for not being able to wear a mask. I decided to disengage and instead call the store manager after leaving the store. I called the store at 8:40 am, spoke to customer service as a manager wasn't available. I told him what transpired and he confirmed what the employee told me; Meijer's policy is not to approach customers not wearing PPE. In the interest of full disclosure, my wife is in healthcare, and our nieces are in healthcare too. We do our best to follow best practices as not to spread or come into contact with the virus. So as Meijer has made a choice not to enforce customers wearing PPE, we are making a choice to no longer shop there. I'm sharing this information with my Yelp Community, so you can make an informed choice. My review isn't to push a pro or con PPE agenda, it's simply to inform, so you can make an informed choice.

I can't say much about this Meijer. After visiting most of their Chicagoland locations I can honestly say this is my least favorite. The prices here are slightly higher than other Meijers and well above the prices at WalMart. I had to ask a few employees where a specific item was and not until I asked a manager did I get the right answer. I explained to him the incorrect information I received from the others and all I got was a partial "sorry" as he was turning and walking away. If the managers don't care about the customers it's no shock the employees are unengaged and unknowledgable. The only good thing about this Meijer are the clearance end caps on the outside edges of each department. I did find a couple good clearance deals but passed on other items and made a trip to WalMart where I saved quite a bit. My favorite Meijer remains the one across from the Bolingbrook Promenade at 87th and I355. Prices are similar but employees are much more engaging.

Love the MPerks, always good deals! We also fill up our tank, and usually get 50 cents off a gallon.

Generally speaking I am not a fan of big box mega retailers but I will make an exception for the Oswego, IL Meijer store.

Hitting up these shops has always been a must when I've traveled in Japan. Some of the ones there are several stories tall so I expected something similar to the Daiso's I've visited in California with a really trimmed down selection. I find that at least for this one in Oswego that the number of products available was a lot more than I thought it'd be especially with the added plus of their more expensive but still bargain-priced Standard product line. This was happily surprising even though it totally wrecked my plans of just popping in to grab a couple of little things to add to my neices' Easter baskets. The trip ended up turning into a familiar situation of finding myself slowly idling through every aisle to be sure I noted everything that was available. Suddenly many of the little things I had to leave behind in Tokyo were once again at my fingertips and I didn't have to worry about overfilling a suitcase. Two brimming bags and $40 later I made it out of what I'm sure was just the first of many random trips to these new Chicagoland Daisos.

But you can't just buy the bath mat since it needs its companion towels, tissue box, etc. We struggled to get anything besides a mist spray bottle since we already have everything we need. If our kids went to college and needed stuff for dorm, my wife would love picking stuff out for them. Diaso store wise is smaller than the regular diaso in Niles since it has half of store taken by standard product.

The order was marked as "delivered," but nothing ever showed up at my door. At this point, the only logical conclusion is that the delivery driver either misdelivered it or outright stole the package. Either way, Walmart failed completely to ensure I actually received what I paid for. What's even worse is how they handled the situation. Instead of taking responsibility and immediately reshipping the items, Walmart refused to send replacements. They left me stuck dealing with their broken system while holding onto my money. Customer service was an absolute nightmare. I couldn't get a single representative based in the United States. After being bounced around, I ended up speaking to a supervisor named Angela in the Philippines, who showed zero urgency or real concern. Her solution? I have to wait up to 10 days just to get an answer about a refund--for items I never received in the first place. So let me get this straight: Walmart takes my money, fails to deliver my order, refuses to fix the problem quickly, and then expects me to wait even longer just to MAYBE get my money back? This isn't just poor service--it feels like outright theft. I've been completely mistreated, ignored, and left without both my items and my money. For a company as massive as Walmart, this level of incompetence and lack of accountability is unacceptable. I will never trust Walmart with another online order again.
