We came for the Electrify America charger, really, so while the car was doing its thing, we went inside the store and used the restrooms (clean), and picked up some snacks. Big selection of packaged snacks. The deli sushi (California roll) did not have any soy sauce packet (but a teaspoon of wasabi, how's that gonna work?). We used the self service line. Meijer has just about everything. We sat in the car for a little while. There were 4 chargers (EA) and all being used. When we were leaving, there was a car ready to take our spot. read more

TERRIBLE. Ordered cakes from the bakery and went to pick them up 2 weeks later and they were no where near what i had asked for. They are hideous, absolutely hate them. I've been shopping at the Oswego store for years. Besides having very competitive pricing, you also have solid products, from the main name brands to your experiment with Fredrick's (I tried some and they were spot on). But my main reason for writing is the team in self checkout. They're always gracious and accommodating. Keep it up! You're a good team! I hope the Meijer leadership treats you well, because you deserve it! Side note, Meijer reusable bags, the big ones, are awesome! Just bought my 4th, and now I'm set. Today, I'm writing what might turn out to be a controversial review. I've always enjoyed shopping Meijer for many reasons and sadly today will be the last time I shop there. COVID-19 has changed our lives and there are things that are required so we can keep each other safe. Some examples are social distancing, wearing masks, hand washing, concerts and sporting events cancelled to name just a few. Today I noticed Meijer allowing customers in to shop without masks, or not even reminding them to put one on. I approached an employee and asked what the policy was and he told me they were told not to do anything. I approached the customer and offered her a mask, she refused and told me she was not wearing a mask to make a political statement. I thought perhaps she forgot, or didn't have and needed a mask. I had both a spare new paper and new cloth mask as some people have medical reasons for not being able to wear a mask. I decided to disengage and instead call the store manager after leaving the store. I called the store at 8:40 am, spoke to customer service as a manager wasn't available. I told him what transpired and he confirmed what the employee told me; Meijer's policy is not to approach customers not wearing PPE. In the interest of full disclosure, my wife is in healthcare, and our nieces are in healthcare too. We do our best to follow best practices as not to spread or come into contact with the virus. So as Meijer has made a choice not to enforce customers wearing PPE, we are making a choice to no longer shop there. I'm sharing this information with my Yelp Community, so you can make an informed choice. My review isn't to push a pro or con PPE agenda, it's simply to inform, so you can make an informed choice. read more

App Order: I arrived to pick up my grocery order. The employee came out and said that payment failed. So I gave her the exact same card. Then she disappeared for a long time. I called the pickup customer service number to ask if she was coming back. An employee told me that they had to take my order to the front and re ring everything. So I continued to wait. The previous employee eventually came back, loaded the vehicle, and we left. When we unpacked our groceries it was a mishmash of things that weren't ours and half of our ($265) order was missing. So I called to tell her that there was a problem with the order. That I had gotten someone else's groceries, and someone had gotten half of mine. Her response? No. I remember putting those in your car. Over and over. That there was nothing she could do for me. That they were closing, and her manager wasn't there. She remembers putting them in! What vehicle do you remember putting them in? Her response again? "My memory isn't that great." (but she remembers!) "I think it was a gray SUV." Which was way off base. But she remembers. So rather than just say hey, we made a mistake somewhere (because let's remember, I also have someone else's groceries) she just doubles down on basically accusing me of trying to scam her, because SHE REMEMBERS! I'll bet she remembers putting that other sap's groceries in their car too. So here are my missing items: Tampax radiant, tortillas, regular marshmallows, chocolate raisins, vanilla raisins, hot dog buns x3, gluten free hot dog buns, raisin nut bran, 6 pack of hershey bars, 2 cases of San Pellegrino, a box of Larabars, a giant jug of maple syrup, a 74 count box of Pull-Ups, graham crackers, and fancy expensive marshmallows. So if you're out there, I have your bag of potatoes, Dunkin Donuts coffee, cliff bars, nectarines, organic bananas, celery, 4 bottles of Prego, and 2 cucumbers. I have trouble finding foods safe for my many allergies and good vegan options. When I called a lady was so helpful on the phone with me going through product by product to let me know if they carry it before I drove there. This saved me so much time not searching for items they don't carry but grabbing what they did. The lady on the phone deserves 5 stars. The missing star is that there are a number of products for vegans and those with allergies that it would be nice if this store added. read more

Placed an app pickup order over the weekend and immediately noticed a few missing items. I went into the store Monday and spoke with Joanne L. who was quick to agree she could see 1 mistake on my order but was adamant about the other item not being a mistake regardless of seeing the screenshot of my mperks with the time stamp from the weekend. She refused to help any further. I asked her how she could clearly admit 1 error and claim the other was impossible. Again she would not help further. Absolutely ridiculous. It's $3.00 savings with the sale and coupon but how often would something like this happen if I used their service for pickup. Do they make it a common practice to rip off their customers like this. There is never more than four lanes open and the lines are very long with cranky cashiers. I have stopped shopping here because I don't like waiting for 20minutes in line to check out. Self checkout is always busy too and the machines never work right. With high prices and long lines I'm done with Meijer. read more

I love Meijer. Prices are reasonable compared to other stores. They have m-perks which gives you rewards. A lot of coupons. Their pharmacy offers great m-perks for your prescriptions and can be used for groceries or other departments. They have a huge selection of produce, proteins, clothes and household products. read more

I was very upset with how this store miss treated an elderly lady who is employed with them! As I walked in they had no carts up front and one of the young men that worked their scolding her to go grab them ! Then as I was checking out I saw confrontation at the front desk with the same elderly woman . As I was leaving my heart hurt for her so I approached her and asked if she was ok , she held back the tears and gently told me she was fine and that look behind you, we have the carts filled she added with a smile fighting back with a tear !! What ???? You have got to be kidding me ?? She grabbed all those ? Her manager just so happened to be standing next to her on the phone so I waited for him to get off ! I told him the story but felt he just made excuses for everyone else but this elderly woman who is our mother's age Mr. Tom!! P. S . I love this store. So it pains me that I have to rate them 3 stars. They have great deals, M Perks is a plus, employees are very happy and helpful. To add, I love the way the store is organized, and the meat selection is great! ...BUT I have found worms in my produce that I have brought from them TWICE this month. I understand that those things happen sometimes. I overlooked it the first time, but twice in a month?! Either I am choosing the unlucky selections or there are more worms. I found a huge worm inside a Brussel sprout when cutting and another worm inside a blueberry. It saddens me that I may have to switch to the other grocery stores in town. I still may get meat and dry goods from there occasionally, but I don't think I will make it my "home" grocery store any longer. read more

They try but their improvements fall flat at every turn. They have an app where you can scan your own groceries. If it worked it would be good. But it doesn't scan and you're forced to restart constantly. There are few scales in the produce area and never enough bags. Often the dispensers are empty. This last time (and it will be the last time for me) I spent an hour scanning over $100 worth of stuff only to discover that the kiosks were all turned off. So off to have a cashier rescan my stuff. I asked the cashier if I could just use my phone. She looked totally confused (which is why I use the phone scan in the first place) and sent me to customer service. After getting several blank looks, no help, no apology, no nothing, I left. read more

I can't say much about this Meijer. After visiting most of their Chicagoland locations I can honestly say this is my least favorite. The prices here are slightly higher than other Meijers and well above the prices at WalMart. I had to ask a few employees where a specific item was and not until I asked a manager did I get the right answer. I explained to him the incorrect information I received from the others and all I got was a partial "sorry" as he was turning and walking away. If the managers don't care about the customers it's no shock the employees are unengaged and unknowledgable. The only good thing about this Meijer are the clearance end caps on the outside edges of each department. I did find a couple good clearance deals but passed on other items and made a trip to WalMart where I saved quite a bit. My favorite Meijer remains the one across from the Bolingbrook Promenade at 87th and I355. Prices are similar but employees are much more engaging. read more

Have been shopping this store since it opened over 10 years ago. It's close, convenient and prices are lower than most other stores. That being said quality has gone way down in the areas that are most important...produce and meats. Oswego needs another grocery store on the west side to force them to up their game. I've been taking my business to Jewel on Orchard and soon to move all of my buying elsewhere. read more

Well Organized with wide aisles Good selection of groceries Very competitive prices. Friendly, helpful employees. Convenient location (for me anyway - less than 3 miles) Usually an excellent selection of fresh meats and seafoods at their meat counters and a decent assortment of live lobsters, which is one of my favs! CONS Not enough checkouts open unless you want to "self-check". Could use a larger health/organic section. Gluten free foods are limited and difficult to find. Fried Chicken at the deli rivals the Sahara Desert in dryness. When I'm doing the marketing for the week and need several items, I generally trek on over to Caputo's in Naperville/Aurora but for those few items needed, Meijer almost always does the trick for me. read more

I like Meijers and shop here often mostly for groceries since Ultra has gone out of business. I've found Meijers to be consistent. They are consistently friendly, clean store, items mostly in stock and their prices are a consistently higher than rival big box Walmart. Usually only pennies more to a few more coins, but the quality and service are worth it. I am a fan of Morris and enjoy the savings, coupons and cash back rewards. This morning I stopped in for the first time in the wee hours of the morning and it was a great shopping experience. Quiet, from crowds while most staff did stocking. I was in the store for over an hour, mostly browsing aisle and picking up an item here and there, not one employee offered assistance or even acknowledged my presence and I passed no less than six of them at various times. Finally in the frozen vegetable aisle, as I was searching for a regular vegetable package I purchase, an older, salt & peppered gentleman that was re-stocking the area, walked over as soon as he saw me concentrating my search; and asked if I needed assistance finding something. I did. He went to work assisting me and found the coveted vegetable package.. letting me know that they were there to serve my customer needs offering as we departed to let them know if I needed any further help. I greatly appreciated that. The other employees on this day could take a lesson from him. Checkout was friendly, efficient and fast as usual. Did I say how much I like Meijers? read more

I honestly prefer the Oswego Meijer over any other Meijer (Aurora, Naperville, Bolingbrook, etc). The store itself is always very clean and well organized and the staff are helpful. They actually go out of the way to say hello and ask you if you need any help while you are shopping which I have yet to experience at any other Meijer store. I love to shop here when they do their 'buy ten items for a dollar, get the eleventh item free' deal. I always stock up on dollar Gatorade and fattening snacks for the hubby and friends. You honestly can't beat it. It is helpful to have the meijer card. I always go online and clip the coupons on the website or app before going to the store, that way all I have to do is enter my phone number and pin when I'm checking out and it will apply all of the coupons I clipped. For most items, I get points and when my points rack up I get special coupons like 10 dollars of your purchase of $25 or more. Great deals. read more

Meijer - Halloween season already - - Grocery Near Me - Oswego, Illinois

I like Miejer - I shop here weekly and spend easily 150 a week on groceries. I know that's slightly more than most people, but I'm a fatty and don't care. No, I'm not on the gov't dime, so back off conservatives claiming they pay for my medical. haha Anyways... The trick to any grocery store is to go early or late - NEVER go during the day, especially on the weekends. No matter what store you go to you'll end up angry at humanity and shaking your head if you go mid-day on a weekend. We were back and forth with Meijer and Walmart for a while. Walmart's lack of produce that doesn't spoil, clearly frozen "fresh" meats were two main reasons for our weekly trips moving to Meijer. More importantly, Walmart runs lean on staff hours - you know, to keep prices down - meaning you're standing in a mile long line no matter what time of the day. Pro's - Produce is almost always fresh. - Butcher / meat section staffed with competent individuals that can specialty cut what you need. I miss the local butcher - stores like this are why they're few and far between, but at least I still can get a custom cut Porterhouse if I want it. Walmart? nope! - Wide selection of pretty much everything you want - more brand name than generics. That makes a difference to me, I like brand name for some things - not all. Meijer has it. - MPerks - good deal all around. I even have the text message reminders of big weekly coupons. I save on average 30 bucks a week with mPerks digital coupons and rewards - before manufacturer coupons. It's a good deal AND it's Free. You're silly if you don't take this up. Cons - The parking lot design sucks - it's a pain to get in and out when it's busy. Hence why I go in the early am. It's a large grocer - not all of the employees are competent scientists or hipsters like at Whole Foods. But everyone of them I've met thus far (going on 4 years of weekly shopping here) has been nice. Everyone smiles and says hi when I'm strolling around at 6:00 am on a Saturday. Tip: Go early. My internal clock is structured around my daughter. She's only a toddler but for the past two years she's been an early riser and early sleeper. I don't mind taking her sometimes, but it's less of frustration point to go by yourself while my wife chills out at home and then hangs out with my daughter. I can run through a $150 cart in under an hour. Perhaps because I know the layout very well and have a clear walking strategy - anyways, it works. I like this place. I don't have a beef with them at all. four stars because no one is perfect. I do miss they're curbside shopping / pick up. I guess that justifies the -1 star. read more

For a 24 hour store it leaves a lot to be desired. Being open 24 hours is a fraudulent promotion of this store, so much closes early in it, it's not worth going there past 6pm. Deli, hot food bar, pharmacy, close early, really early. the service desk closes too. Dressing rooms are locked at 9pm. So I couldn't try on clothes after 9pm and the item I had didn't have a tag, and the service desk was closed. They call back the next day and leave a message that they have a price for me, the caller, Jennifer, didn't say what is was Or how long it will be held. I call back, there's no item on hold and no one named Jennifer in cust service! So WTF? Wasting my time here. I never shop here usually, made the mistake of wasting my time. read more

UPDATE- removed three stars from my previous review. We are in Illinois on vacation for a few months and I got hard scrips from my son's doctor for the two prescriptions he depends on for his continued health. Brought them to Meijer and was told under no circumstances would they fill the prescriptions because they were signed by an out-of-state doctor. The pharmacy tech, Dave, wouldn't even entertain the idea of speaking, via telephone, to the doctor who wrote the scrip. Oddly, he filled another out-of-state prescription for a member of our party a week earlier... Called both Walmart and Walgreens, both of whom said they'd be happy to fill the prescriptions. Walgreens up the street got our business and we're kind and helpful. Try them instead. --------------------------------------- It's a grocery store, so there are really no surprises. Where Meijer shines is in its "food architecture (seriously, it's a thing!)... The store is very well arranged in a logical fashion, making shopping simple and fairly stress-free. The staff is always helpful and the store is clean and tidy. Their produce section is a thing of beauty, items laid out nearly, reminiscent of a farmer's market. Their deli is good, too. I'm particularly fond of the butcher section. The meats are of very high quality and it is nice to be able to pick your own steaks and chops. Where Meijer loses a star is during sales. Items you see in their flyers aren't stocked at every store and, if you don't hit the sale on the first day or two, bare shelves are often the only thing that mark where your item used to be. They certainly don't anticipate the "stock up" mentality many people have during a good sale. All in all, one of my favorite stores to do my shopping. read more

Seems to be heading downhill over the last year. No matter what day or time we go, the produce section is not kept up with. Today there were no heads of lettuce. A woman who was looking for the same thing, found a box sitting on a cart. We had to take our own out of it as no one was stocking it. The deli counter is a nightmare on Weekends. I understand that's likely the busiest time but rarely more than 2 people working that large area. Despite a number system, be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes just to be called. In addition, the deli people are usually not in a very good mood, but likely from being run ragged. Really considering a new store which is a shame because we have been coming here for years. read more

Tired of going in and finding they are still out of an item 3 days after my 1st of three trips. I also feel like I'm going through an obstacle course in almost every aisle. Today a handicapped gentleman on one of the power carts couldn't get around things being put out....too spread out. Things don't need to be in both sides of an aisle. A woman was stocking bananas; the cart she was working from was in the middle of the aisle & the empty boxes were by the guacamole. I doubt that I will be back. read more

When you think of great customer service, quality and freshness, Meijer does not come to mind. Many items are way past expiration. If you can't find an item but you know they carry it, look at the shelf tags. There is usually something else in its spot. There veggies are bad shape compared to Walmart and Jewel. The customer service is not the best but there are serval on the team that are good. The biggest thing I will not forget Is when the female store manager was working in the soda isle. I asked her where something was. Then asked her to show me since I did not see it. She told me that she was busy and to go find it myself. Maybe she thought I was an employee that was off that day. Who knows. I just thought that was a horrible way to treat me or an employee. read more

I am very disappointed with Meijer. I've been shopping the Oswego IL location since they opened, every week. Since January 1 2022, my HSA card no longer works at the pharmacy. I was told by one of the pharmacy employees the issue was a change that occurred in their system which caused the register to be seen only as "grocery", rather than "pharmacy" and my card would no longer work. I called the store three times and spoke with managers, they promised to get back to me and never did. My card works fine at other locations, so I moved all my prescriptions to another pharmacy. I can't be the only one this issue affected. Your lack of concern for the problem and lack of action taken once notified is pretty poor customer service. Between that and the rudeness of the older woman at the self-check out when I had a problem with your finicky self-scanner, I have decided to take my business elsewhere. Not that you care I am certain, but shame on you Meijer for failing to take care of a customer. read more

Someone used my card at a Meijer location in Oswego, IL. Two purchases - within a minute of each other - each for the exact same amount. For some reason, this did not raise red flags with the staff. The copies of the receipts I got (Thanks to my credit card company) say "Grocery/General Merch." Way to be descriptive. Since the card was apparently swiped (never mind that it is a chip card), my credit card company says I owe the money. Meijer won't give me any additional information on the transaction (or even review the transaction detail) until I file a police report - in a city that is 45 minutes from me.
