Meijer's is much like Wal-Mart but with better quality items. This is my go to spot when I am shopping. Unfortunately, their electronics and appliances are little on the high side. I don't like their generics because they tend to be the same price the name brand. They do have some great sales weekends. I really like their 10 for 10 weekends. read more

One of my favorite grocery stores in B-N. Much cleaner than the Walmart next door and far more helpful staff. Great produce section with lots of organic options. It's a bit bigger/farther out from my apartment than i'd like, but better prices than the Jewel on Oakland (my other grocery store). read more

I had an emergency situation the other day. I was sick w/ the stomach flu and not keeping food or water down for almost 24 hours. The problem is that I am pregnant so this was becoming an emergency for me and possibly my unborn child. If I did not receive some anti-nausea medication soon, I would need to be admitted to the hospital. The Meijer Pharmacy took over an hour to find the prescription my Dr.'s office had called in. During that time, the nurse called and spoke directly to the pharmacist on duty, explaining that she was trying to keep a patient out of the ER and they needed to act fast. They continued to try and say they hadn't heard from the Dr.'s office, when in fact I knew they had. It turned out later that what actually happened was they couldn't find the meds, not the prescription order. They either lied or were incompetant (or both) in the moment bc they wanted to save face. This is fine when someone wants a flu shot or needs vitamins, but not when the life of an unborn child is at stake. I went in a few days later, when I was better, to complain in person (my husband had been dealing w/ the situation for me the day I was ill), and they acted like they didn't even care. It was ridiculously unprofessional, to say the least. read more

I just love Mejier's. I've been going there instead of Wal mart for about 5 years now and they never disappoint. I would live there if they'd let me. It's cleaner, cheaper, and just overall better quality than a lot of the other mega stores. Just great. Very friendly. Everything is great. read more

Went a couple a months ago to buy a semi-boneless rib roast. Guy at meat counter tells me they will not cut it into steaks for me. I say cubs and Kroger cut up roasts for me. I talk out about competition (blah blah) he says we dont have to compete at this price. I go to customer service to complain and they send me back to meat counter and the meat cutter comes out and explains it is too dangerous to cut up a semi boneless roast. So I say okay can u cut up a bone in rib roast he says he would but they are out. I go to customer service and get a rain check. Come back a couple weeks later ask for bone in rib roasts cut into steaks, meat counter guy tells me they dont do that. I tell him my story he calls customer service. Meat cutter comes out he asks me how i want it cut. Comes back 10 minutes later 8 2 inch thick bone in ribeyes :). $5.99Lb =) took some work on my end but the meat is great. Also best produce in town other than Jacksons or farmers market. Great seafood department . read more

I like Meijer much more than their major competitor across the street. They always have great clearance sales and the staff are usually friendly. I enjoy walking around just looking at stuff. You'll find anything you need here. read more

Rude employees who are too lazy to work. I went to Meijer to pick up a prescription and get 4 items. The prescription was part of their "free prescription" plan. I got my other 4 items and went to get my prescription expecting I could check out back at the pharmacy rather than walking across the ENTIRE STORE to check out. Well, apparently, according to the chick at the pharmacy they were too busy to check out my FOUR ITEMS. There was ONE person behund us. I had just come from CVS, where I didn't even GET a prescription. They were just as busy, if not more than Meijer, and the guy back in pharmacy at CVS went ahead and checked me out. There were FOUR people waiting in line at CVS. I had WAY more items at CVS than I did at Meijer. Yet the pharmacy guy at CVS didn't bat an eye and checked me out and the chick at Meijer couldn't be bothered. Meijer has just lost a customer. It is pretty sad when I would rather have to PAY for my prescription than to have it filled by Miejer, but I don't intend for them to get a dime from me or because of me ever again. Very poor customer service and I am done with it. This doesn't even cover the employees who swoop in while you are at the self check out and start grabbing items from your cart to check out without even asking, or who jump in on the machines while you are finishing checking out and just start pressing buttons on the machine without a word. The employees are rude and I am done shopping at Meijer. read more
