Hy-Vee is a great place to grab a quick lunch or dinner. The prices are affordable, and there is something for everyone in your family. We enjoyed the salad bar, Asian station and pizza at our last visit. I loved that the salad bar is priced per plate if you dine in store. In other stores, it's always priced per pound and your salad can add up in a hurry. They even have a unlimited option, although I found the large plate was more than enough. Their craft beer selection is wide, lots of Illinois breweries to choose from. No need to go to the Binny's across the parking lot. Please keep expanding East to Indiana! read more

Still an awesome store. Perhaps my favorite grocery store ever. The cheese selection is off the charts. Store is clean...very clean!! They also have somewhat of a "mall" feel. With the ability to eat food they cook for you...there's a "takeout area" ("Chef's Creations"), a deli ("Sandwich Shop"), home cooked comfort/traditional food like roasted chicken and pulled pork ("Hickory House"), an Italian food area -- complete with pizza (!), and an Asian food area with stir-fry and egg rolls. Far and away the cleanest, most organized, and friendly grocery store in this town! Management is responsive to concerns and requests. Employees are respectful and friendly. They have a nice variety and selection for most every item. But if you need a particular product or brand, let customer service know- they can probably special order it! The wine + spirits staff is helpful and knowledgeable Considering it's a grocery store, they have an impressive selection of beer, wine, and spirits! Bakery items are fresh and delicious. Cupcakes are equal to (or better) than more expensive specialty bakeries. Their old-fashioned donuts are AMAZING! Pharmacy staff (especially Brandon + Brooke ) are efficient and friendly. There's normally very little wait to pick up medication. And one of our FAVORITE perks is Hy-Vee's FUEL SAVER program Since Hy-Vee opened in B/N almost 5 years ago, our family has saved several THOUSAND DOLLAR$ on gas! The grocery store is good this is for the Mealtime To Go/restaurant portion. I've eaten here in-store so know what all is missing for a to-go/online order. They are surprisingly good for dine in, but I wouldn't recommend trying delivery or take out. There was no frosting on their cinnamon roll, just a bare dry roll. $3 for two slices of hormel microwave bacon. None of the extras were added which is fine, but none of my selections were added which I paid for. jelly/cream cheese/ketchup was all missing and the extra toppings weren't added to my omlette which are per-item paid. read more

I ordered food here from GrubHub and had an entire item missing. No problem, I sent in my refund request, but I didn't expect to find several more issues with almost every single item. The spring rolls were soggy, the sushi was gas station level freshness and falling apart (and these were tiny rolls, there shouldn't have been a problem wrapping them), plus the wasabi was smeared all over the box. Also the cupcakes I got were just thrown into a container with icing again smeared everywhere. There wasn't even much icing to begin with, plus the chocolate one was specifically advertised to come with filling inside. There was no filling. It was basically a dry muffin with a tiny, messy dollop of icing on it. I know this place is cheap and isn't supposed to be restaurant level perfection, but this was just ridiculously bad. read more

Hy-Vee is one of my favorite grocery stores in town. I really enjoy the atmosphere here. Everything is very clean and they have a lot of products that other stores don't which makes it fun to browse throughout. I really like their bakery area and Buffett restaurants. It is a nice concept to have the different types of food available to eat onsite. I also love their wine area. It's almost like having another liquor store within. Such a great selection. For service, employees are always very friendly here. I've experienced this at the checkout area and throughout the store. For prices, although you can find good deals in the their ads, I find that they are higher than my usual grocery store, Kroger. If not for the higher prices, I would always shop here. read more

I like the store in that they remodeled it well from whatever the building was prior. Many buildings in this town should be demolished because they are just old and water damaged ceilings and gross! In a grocery store you don't want to look up and see a water damaged ceiling that is probably growing mold! The store is very appealing, well lit with pleasant music. I like walking in to the produce department which is large and has an extensive organic section. My issues with the store and the reason for the loss of two stars are as follows: I have been overcharged in two different shopping trips for items purchased in the produce section. After it had happened the first time and was a bit of an ordeal to correct; I took photos on trips after that to easily be able to access and show at checkout. Having it happen the second time made me feel suspicious and untrusting. My second issue is that I often see very short dated or expired products on the shelf. At a competitor store I shop with, I always know their short dated products because they always have them on sale! Like many stores, there are often long, slow lines with few registers open. However this seems common to many stores I would like to wrap up with two more pleasant items! Like I said above they have a good selection of organic. In addition they have a great section of 'health items'. For example if you need gluten free shopping or items like that, it's your store! And on Wednesday's I think check for sure there is an added gas bonus for items purchased from their 'health' section. Lastly, one night I went around 2 am for something and thought I had lost my wallet. The employees that were stocking stopped and helped me look! I really appreciated their helping me! read more

Great location in Bloomington! I agree with some that layout can be confusing, but I really enjoy shopping here. They have a great meat and fish selection and the prices are reasonable. Bloomington is not known for fish, but they have a good seafood section. I enjoy their prepared foods, have tried several of them and they are not cheep food like some prepared grocery food. ITS LIKE I DIED AND WENT TO SUPER MART HEAVEN! This place is absolutely amazing. Not only is the store clean and well stocked, but hyvee offers a variety of pre cut veggies and fruits as well as wonderful meal options. Not to mention their meat and seafood section is AMAZING! Some reviewers are complaining about prices. I will say that all canned goods and other brand name foods are the same price as competitors, if not cheaper. Yes, their meats and deli may be a little more expensive but their selection and quality sure does make up for it! Employees were helpful and welcoming. It's expensive. Plain and simple. I've been an equal opportunity grocery shopper (who tends to end up at Jewel more than not) and I'm just like 'meh'. While the Hy-Vee is above and beyond in customer service, they fall behind on products. A lot of their store brands are average at best and specialty items? Well, other grocery stores have cheaper. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy shopping here. But hey, the fresh hummus bar? Not too good. Also, the pre-packaged dinners? Well, the enchiladas are DIVINE...but the meatloaf and mashed potatoes? Way way too many employees. And to cover the cost of those employees the prices ARE higher on many items. That being said, the bakery is average, and so is the deli. The meat dept on the other hand were impressive with the large varitey of meats, fishes and ready to throw on the grill preps. The liquor selection with the wine tasting room were also inpressive but I just dont see myself going there for a wine tasting. The rest of the store was average but a little on the higher side of pricing. I think Ill just stick to Meijers and Fresh Market for my weekly shopping. read more

No it's not the cheapest place to go, but we put it somewhere between Schnucks and a Fresh Market in terms of prices, quality, selection and service. Gotta give them props for the Market Grille (pre-groceries tap for ya?) and the in-store table area with dedicated cashier. I've always thought such a thing would make sense and given the quality of the 'prepared food' - love the flatbreads, the BBQ, the fresh fruit and the daily lunch specials - why not?! Although the sushi at first glance didn't seem on par with FreshMkt, having now sampled a few fancier rolls, I'd say it's actually pretty close. We also grab a sesame ahi tuna steak (for light searing) just about every weekly shopping excursion! Lots to like! read more

I tried their delivery service and it was AWFUL!!! I was overcharged for some items. Other items arrived damaged. Some items were forgotten and not even given to the delivery person. I had to wait for MULTIPLE delivery attempts to get the order corrected. Worst of all, They had a "attitude" about the entire fiasco when I called them to try and get the order corrected/completed. We love Hyvee. The staff is friendly. Great meat department. We have been doing grocery pick up for years which is very convenient. Lately we get the wrong items almost every week which is frustrating. I'm not sure what is going on, but it is like the staff doesn't pay attention to our order or just doesn't care anymore. Just finished shopping at this new location for the first time. Overall I am impressed. I have not shopped at a Hy-vee since i lived in Nebraska several years ago and i forgot how much variety the store carries. In my opinion this is the nicest grocery store with the most options in town. The price of some items are high, but then again the store carries different brands of the same items with low prices. I took my time and walked every aisle to get a good idea of the options. My family purchases as much Organic as possible and the selection for Organic items here is awesome! While I know that the customer service is supposed to be top-notch, and I did experience that when I asked for help finding something. However when I was checking out the cashier was super bitchy for no reason, I was my friendly self and she did not ask how I was doing or if I had found everything okay. I realize this is trivial and some people can have bad days, I get that. However because this was my first time being in the store I asked if I could get a fuel savings card today, she then told me I had to order it online, when I got on their website and I need to pick one up in the store and activate it online. I have no problem with doing this, but if you are having a bad day, in customer service I realize it's hard to be nice sometimes, but at least do not give anyone false information. read more

I think the size of this place is beginng to take a toll on the freshness and quality in certain areas. I've noticed the same thing in the Grand Prairie store in Peoria. They simply are not price competitive in a number of areas. With that said, they do have a great gourmet cheese selection which always looks fresh and well stocked. They also have a lot of meat to choose from, but I think Kroger often has a better grade at much lower prices. Don't even look at the produce...no one can match the freshness and prices at Meijer. And yes, I have the time and energy to shop at all three and often do. But what really stood out this weekend was the brownish tint to most of the fish in the "fresh fish" department. Nothing looked "fresh off the boat" on either Saturday or Sunday except the swordfish and ahi tuna that was prepackaged and on sale. In front of me on Saturday was a lady complaining that the fish she bought last time stunk when she got it home and was afraid to eat it. They told her she could have brought it back for a refund but she said she lived 30 miles away. My suggestion is to reduce the variety of seafood to only what is really fresh and sell it at a lower price so it actually "sells". The thought of taking it in and out of the cooler day after day because it's not selling while it sits on ice is kind of gross. Maybe it should sit on a tray or something. No thanks. But the real kick in the gut is coming from Fresh Thyme because they ran the Fresh Market out of town and resembles Sprouts Farmers Market out west which is fantastic. Recently bought giant sea scallops at Fresh Thyme for $13 a lb, and Florida Grouper for $16 a lb, both so fresh it glistened. Look out below! read more

Hy-Vee is walking distance from my house. Some reviewers say their prices are too high but it is more like certain sections are too expensive.(Like many stores) Their produce section is so overpriced, I don't even look there any more. Other areas are on par with their prices. I really like their bakery. The breads they make there are amazing. I do like that they have dry-ice there. They also claim that they will order anything that they don't have. read more

I ordered a care package of food and baby supplies from afar for a friend with a baby in the hospital. The delivery had to be resceduled, but they were so helpful, and even included some balloons which the 2 year old big brother LOVED coming home to. What a nice touch for a difficult time. Finely went to this store after being open for 2 months and was happy To be there. I don't think the prices are any more than Krogers but have lots more ready made foods and wow are they good.They also have Online ordering and they also delivery. You shop online and then you pick the time for them to delivery it. If its over 100 dollars its free.......WOW love this as its save me time from having to run around the store finding what I like. I want to begin by saying I think I might be Hy-Vee's number one fan. My motto through college was "Go to Hy-Vee, it will change your life". I think I got Hy-Vee more customers than all of their advertising Here is why: Hy-Vee actually cares about their customers. Their store always looks immaculate (have you SEEN than produce section? Perfection). They give free fruit to keep hungry kids busy while parents shop. They have little mini shopping carts for tiny shoppers. There have been days when I have walked in that store to be handed FREE FOOD. (A free loaf of bread. Free soup. Free ramen noodles). As a college student- this was like heaven. They have everything here! Delicious baked goods. A great meat selection. Frozen foods. Natural foods (for when I pretend I'm healthy). They even have an awesome beauty section with handmade soaps! They have good deals. Incredibly friendly staff! And an amazing restaurant. Follow them on facebook to see when there are new deals going on! (There's always something). Seriously. I get joy when I walk through those doors. Broke up with your boyfriend? Go to Hy-Vee. Failed an exam? Go to Hy-Vee. Bored? Go to Hy-Vee. If I was not so budget conscious, I would shop at Hy-Vee exclusively. I love they have a huge selection. The employees are much more customer service oriented than you're going to find at some of the other grocery stores. My only problem is when it comes to them stocking at night and the pallet placements. Due to my schedule, I usually have to go into Hy-Vee late at night. The employees place pallets where they block off sections and they make it hard to go down many of the aisles. I was overnight stocker at Wal-mart in the past. I was able to stock the store and keep it somewhat manageable for customers to navigate. Other than that, the shopping experience at Hy-Vees is usually great. read more

I love HyVee. The shopping atmosphere is very good. The customer service is outstanding form my experience. Everytime I am in there I am always asked when seen by associates if I'm finding everything okay. If I have trouble they lead the way. The meat department is something else. Has to be the best grocery store meat shop in BloNo. Their different varieties they offer seem to be endless from your standards like fresh cut pork chops and steaks to the stuffed chicken breast and stuffed chops. All are very tasty. Another thing HyVee has going for them over the other chain is their fuel rewards. You don't have to spend $100 to save a dime. Heck you could spend $100 and save more than $1.00 on fuel if you bought the right items. Most of the time they are items I need anyway. The Market Grill is another part I like. I love Hy-Vee! Coming from Canton, it's always been the familiar hometown grocery store thats my go-to, even living in Blo-No. I always get good customer service, but last night was above and beyond. I walked into the store to buy a bottle of wine, and was approached by Cynthia G. Little did Cynthia know that I was buying this bottle of wine after turning in a massive project for school, so it had been a rough week. Within seconds of me walking into the wine section, Cynthia was by my side sharing with me all of her wine recommendations and letting me know about all of the fuel saver points for each wine. I picked out my bottle, and she took me over to the register. While she was ringing me up, she realized that the particular kind I got had 20 cents for fuel savers the day before, but was changed and lowered to 10 cents. She made every effort to try and get me the 20 cent deal from the day before. Her shift was nearly over, but she even walked me over to customer service and set me up with the right person to get the right fuel saver points. Basically, I was stressing out over turning in a big project, needed my bottle of wine, and her customer service and great attitude made my night so much better. This is just one example of great customer service at Hy-Vee, and just another reason for me to be a returning customer. read more

I like to compare prices with the Unit Pricing Labels. It can be made to be hard to calculate by listing one size by weight and the other by volume. That can make one appear to cost less when in reality does not. Deception is utilized in as many ways as deemed legal by management. The direction shoppers go after entering the store take them through selections of items that are probably on their lists but are more expensive brands. You will find the regular brands on the opposite side of the store - brands that are still a bit more expensive than other stores unless on sale. They do have some good sales. The take-out or eat-in, fresh deli meals are usually excellent. If eating in, pay attention to the price of ordering the full buffet compared to the A la carte. It can be significant. Excellent customer service, the place always looks clean, buffet food is excellent, access to the parking lot from Clearwater is sometimes a challenge. Good sales prices. read more

Terrible attitude from employees on several occasions. Just to name a few- ~ Female employee at the hot food bar screaming at customers snapping "what do you want??" And exclaiming loudly "I can't wait to get out of here!" ~Female employee who gave me a rude face when I approached her and told her I had an emergency and I had to leave the store but I would be back for my items at a later time ~Indifference on several occasions. Examples : asking where a product is, an employee shrugged and said don't know and walked away. Or when I was 7 months pregnant, and I asked the sushi makers if they had non raw sushi and they shrugged and looked at me in disgust. Or when I purchased food from the salad bar and I approached the cashier and she was Facebook chatting and did not look up for 10 seconds until I said "hello?" ~Plain rudeness - I needed an item from a shelf and 3-4 employees were chatting it up and blocking the item I needed. I stood there and they didn't move so I politely said excuse me and they rolled their eyes and hastily moved as though I was interrupting a private party. ~Extremely slow unfriendly service in the market grille restaurant This is not everything but on almost every trip to HyVee since September I had a strange encounter with an employee.
