Very clean store, friendly staff, smart arrangement and appealing presentation, we found an excellent seafood selection to cook up a Sunday evening meal. But alas price gouging all over, insane to see no b grade discounted produce which ruins farmers and us consumers by wasting the majority of farm output. I would really like to see big groceries like Fresh Thyme ensure minimal food waste with their suppliers that both reduces cost and waste while providing essential value and best of all, fantastic quality since b grade produce despite its lack of visual appeal is often better tasting due to a moral natural cycle on the plant. There has been so much clear research emphasizing the relevant needs to fix inflation these past years it is difficult to see big brands march on hiking prices and bragging about record profits. read more

I only recently go there more because I found great deals there. It is a bit different than your typical grocery store. The size of it is a lot smaller but yet has more products to offer. Are you tired of going to Walmart, target, Meijer, Or another grocery store with very limited or nonexistent organic food options? Or, do you have a great desire to buy locally but don't know where you should go? If you answered yes to either of these two questions, you need to check out Fresh Thyme Farmers Market. Finally, there is a place in town where I can get a good local and organic raw honey! Also, many of the stores in town stop stocking organic popcorn which is something my family really enjoys. Luckily, Fresh Thyme Farmers Market carries organic yellow popcorn! I really love this place for select items that I cannot locate at the average grocery store! The prices are OK but for some items they can be a bit high. I do not do all of my grocery shopping here, but I do come here for some select items! The selection is pretty good, but an expansion of their selection would certainly be an improvement. Also, it would be nice if they carried everything so I only had to go to one grocery store, but unfortunately they do not have everything to satisfy all of my needs. So, I will continue to shop at multiple grocery stores to satisfy my needs. read more

A little more disappointed with recent changes here. However, people are all very nice and courteous. BUT, removing almost all of the full serve check-outs is very disappointing. Second, I don't like handing people my phone to scan the barcode. It needs to be hands-free! That is just beyond comprehension with cold and flu season upon us, and just general HYGIENE! Third, why did you remove the plexiglass panels? People still get the flu and show up to work, and they don't get sent home! They work. Protect the public AND your employees! Use some common sense! We buy a lot of our groceries here but looking elsewhere as much as possible now. Absolutely disappointed in these recent changes. read more

I like that the store is small. I am sick of going to places where you have to do a marathon of back and forth trying to find stuff in every small corner. The layout is really great and useful. They have Boar's Head deli which is great and fresh sushi (same sushi maker from the now closed Fresh Market). Their veggies are mostly fresh (not all the time) and sometimes they have expired protein bars laying out (always remember to check the date). Those are some negatives for sure. They also have a very small selection of frozen food which can be frustrating as my goal is to not have to go to multiple stores to get my desired items. Overall it is a good place. It is not and will never be my go-to store, I probably try to come here once a month or two for a big trip and that's it. read more

Love this place. They get better every time we visit. Remember us, our names and even our preferences! For example, We love their chocolate croissants, best in town!! AND they make sure to set aside some for us twice a week! Their prices are fairly competitive and when they have sales, the are often less than the larger grocery stores. A business that doesn't care about it's customer needs is doomed to fail. Even if it's one customer at a time. I come to Fresh thyme (yes i said come because i am currently standing in the store) every other day. Usually it is a positive experience but today is one of those days were it went south. Nothing worst than planning a meal around a specific bread then finding the ones sold there are about a day old and hard as a brick. Then the employee who seemed bothered to have her conversation with another employee interrupted, tell you that they wont bake any more until tomorrow. Same employee who in the past has done so on request. Just because they are "busy" and it is only 12pm and the store is empty. There are probably 5 customers in the store. My go to grocery store for fresh vegetables and higher quality selections of meat, cheese, and snacks. Their price is not something I personally would complain about, the reason why shop here is because they carry higher quality selections. For my everyday staples, such as milk or eggs, I still shop at Walmart or Aldi. Also, very friendly staff. read more

Fresh Thyme Farmers Markets are undoubtedly my favorite grocery chain, and since I live in Champaign-Urbana I am very happy to see them coming closer to our little hamlet. Fresh Thyme markets all have a large produce section and, though they are spread across the Midwest, tend to use relatively local suppliers for their fresh fruits, vegetables, and even some of their meats. They have a strong focus on "organically grown" non-GMO foods and, if that is what you seek, you don't have to inspect everything carefully before putting it in your cart. They do sell some non-organics, but the manager at the Terre Haute FTFM told me that the only ones sold are fruits and vegetables (and meats) where organic is deemed not to be so important (like asparagus or avocados). He also implied that, unless company policy changes, they would discontinue any non-organic food if it comes to be shown the non-organic is more dangerous. I love that their fresh produce covers about half the store. Lots of choices and, at least so far, everything is really fresh. The stores also sell a large variety of fish and meats, both frozen and fresh, and this includes deli-meats. In the frozen section, along with the usual pork, beef, chicken, and turkey you can find bison, elk, deer, wild boar, and other varieties not often available in groceries. The fish selection is more standard, but again they focus on sustainable fish. They have a very large bulk foods section with everything from sesame crackers to six kinds of oils, honey, maple syrup, and nut butters. You fill containers they have available or select from some pre-filled ones. They also have lots of bulk nuts, grains, rices, dried fruits, and other items. I should also mention that they have a quite good cheese section. Great prices on their house brands, and good prices on brands that I recognize. The packaged food aisles are to one side of the store and probably comprise about 25% of the store if you don't count the vitamins, etc., which are another 10% of the store. It seems to me (in a nonscientific study) that these are the most expensive sections. The usual aisles all are present: breakfast cereals, canned vegetables, fruits, salsas, chili, drinks, etc. Now, I say it is the most expensive because the brands mostly are unfamiliar to me. The products here are natural, organic, etc., so you won't find regular Shredded Wheat, but rather a similar organic version. The prices may or may not be good for those products, which almost always cost more than the big producer's products. As you may expect, they also have wine and beer. Mostly brands you recognize, though there were some that may be their own house brand. For what it is worth, we did find a $3 bottle of Cabernet there in a brand I never have seen before, so they may have their own "Two Buck Chuck" selection, or it may just have been a special price on something. Prices mostly are very good. Excellent on produce, in fact. They usually are better priced in the fruits and vegetable aisles than we find at our local groceries. Ditto the fresh and frozen meats, as well as many of the prepared foods like sandwiches. So far, I've never been disappointed in the quality of anything, but this is only based about a dozen visits to all the FTFM's I've been to, which includes about four to this location. Some other things I like are that, at least so far, every employee is extremely helpful. You never run into someone stocking the shelves who says "I don't work here." I really like that. It seems at most groceries most of the workers I run into in the aisles are actually stocking shelves for a supplier and not grocery store employees. Another nicety is that they offer free fresh fruit by the doors for you kids. They also have tons of free samples throughout the store. The stores all are mid-sized, so shopping there need not be an expedition. Although it is a kind of natural foods place, it is about twice the size of Trader Joe's and about half the price of Whole Foods. And since neither C-U nor Bloomington-Normal have either of those, this is a great addition. I've heard them described as exactly that: a cross between Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. I don't have a huge base of experiences with either of those stores, but from what I can tell that is not a bad description. All in all, I like shopping here. Clean, friendly, great fruits and vegetables, really good meat and deli departments, nicely sized, and well priced. This is not the place for people who love shopping at Walmart. You only get one or two choices of any category, not a thousand different kinds of corn flakes. But I'm OK with that. I can get all my shopping done in twenty minutes if I want. (Though sometimes there is a jazz combo playing or some other special event that makes me want to take longer.) read more

It's small with a limited selection. NIce quality products. The service is definitely lacking. I stood at the meat counter for quite some time waiting for the woman behind the counter to help me. She never addressed me or said "hello", while she fussed with items in the case. She was only a couple of feet right in front of me. Finally, I had to say "Hi" to get her attention. She filled my order, but acted irritated that I interrupted her little project. Another employee couldn't answer the most basic questions about their produce. The cashier was dismissive and rude. She had a real attitude and did not seem to want to interact with anyone, let alone customers. read more

So I get married in 2 weeks and I needed cranberries really bad. They are the hardest things to find in January! Erick has saved my day! He was so extremely nice and went above and beyond for me. He said he cant promise they will stay good enough to use but he gave me suggestions to try to save them and is giving me all they have for FREE! Absolutely amazing! I love the deli department at Fresh Thyme. Their deli employees are much more friendly than the ones at the Hy-Vee deli. I have food allergies, and they never grumble about wiping down the slicer for me. Their prices are also much more reasonable for their store brand sandwich meat that is gluten-free and preservative free. It tastes like Easter ham, and does not trigger my migraines! read more

Used to be much better probably a 3-4 star but now I'd say a 1. I never shopped here much before but when I would I never had any issues. I prefer hyvee they have a great variety setup that's easy to shop and understand prices (that can be a big problem at fresh thyme), but sometimes fresh thyme is faster and less crowded and they used to be much fresher. Don't get me wrong most employees here are very friendly but I like a lot of their products but most are quite pricey; but healthy grocery usually is, however It seems like something changed recently the quality and freshness isn't the same. Honestly I noticed right away walking through the store. I still tried my best to find the best produce available as I was in a hurry and didn't have time to go to another store. This wasn't easy especially on the "Fresh produce" definitely the green rack at the back of the store with all the veggies and don't get me started on the way to expensive organic fruit that goes bad within a day of purchase! Maybe it was a bad week or maybe something else changed either way I think I'm sticking with hyvee the are at the very least consistent and I know my produce will last more than one night in my fridge. Maybe I'll try again the next time cause there vitamins section probably is one of the more helpful in town with a lot of variety so I'll still shop for those when I have questions but I can always buy the brands I like online. Ok, who leaves a bad review of a brand new grocery store? Honestly. Opening and staffing a new store is super difficult and of course they'll have some hiccups at first. As with every other grocery store, most adult humans can tell you that each store has its advantages and it's disadvantages. Here are a list of this particular store's advantages for me: They have THE best and most reasonably priced bulk foods section in the area. You can grind your own fresh peanut butter and it is FAN-TASTIC. There is a small selection of bulk flavored olive oils and vinegars. You can even buy liquid aminos in bulk and if you don't know what liquid aminos are, try them instead of soy sauce and prepare for your mind to be blown. They have an amazing antipasto/olive bar. The salad bar is one of the top three salad bars you'll find in the area. Trust me, salad bars are my jam. They have my all time favorite Bubbies dill pickles at the best price. They have the biggest selection of cold brew coffees around. They have a good variety of craft beer. I would personally come here mostly for the bulk foods and the salad bar. I haven't tried the juice bar yet but the fact that they have one at all is impressive. Go take a look around and see for yourself what this store's advantages and disadvantages for you personally may be. If you love health food stores and bulk dried goods you're in for a treat. read more
