I was passing by Lansing and mainly came to this location since they have Chargepoint EV charging stations (4 stations if I am not mistaken). My first impressions of the store were overall positive. My husband & I were checking out this afternoon, and there were only 3 stations open with quite a few carts waiting in line. I went to Customer Service and suggested that another station should be open. This person said he would check, and I went back to stand in line. Quite soon another station was opened & everything moved quickly. This helpful person's name was Dwayne ? and he came over to help at that station. Meijer was a masterclass in irresponsibility. Supervisors acted like branch managers of their own living rooms--playing favorites, ignoring standards, and treating staff like disposable furniture. I mainly come into Meijer for the Starbucks located inside. Getting in and out of Meijer can be quite difficult. If you are turning left out, it is especially difficult because there is two lanes of oncoming traffic on both sides. Also, across thw street there are cars trying to turn in the same or opposite direction. It can be quite stressful. I did come into Meijer and ordered fruit already in a package. I wanted to order a salad, but most looked wet and old. I did not see anything fresh or worth buying. Many were gone as well, many empty coolers. The fruit I picked out looked fine at first. I decided to eat it for breakfast the next morning. The date shown on the contaiener said it was good for 3 days. Upon opening it up the next day, I noticed it tasted off. The strawberries were sour, and 3 of them were mushed up with brown spots on them. They appeared close to rotten. The cantaloupe was not good at all and tasted like pure water. No sweet flavors. It was quite disgusting. I did come in another night to look around for premade meals and noticed that the shelves were quite empty. The lines were massive. Especially the self checkout line. They did not have many checkouts open at all for such a massive store. read more

Meijers in Michigan are better than Meijers anywhere else, not sure why that is. This one is typical for Michigan, excellent service, clean, well organized good selection of everything and open all the time. The only thing I don't like is the growing self-checkout and shrinking real cashier situation. The last time I came here this was the only store that stocked up on rain ponchos before an MSU football game when rain was forecast. read more

This place is mesmerizing. 24/7 364 Isles and isles of things you need, and twice as much stuff that you think you need. If I buy one more beanie or sweatshirt from this place I may have my own thrift store. You can get quality Carhartt gear here for 1/2 off if you can wait till the end of the season. The grocery selection is excellent. Texas Pete hot sauce is always on the shelf. Tony Chachere Creole products (nice Cajun selection). Decent ethnic products available...not great, but will do in a pinch. The veggies are usually fresh and well stocked. We always find what we need. Pet supplies are affordable. The fried cheese sticks from the deli are silly good if you get them fresh. Starbucks, Subway, Huntington Bank, and a nail salon at the front of the store. CATA buses stop here. Cons: The recycling area reaks!! It's offensive. There are usually zoo-like crowds...it's bearable in the summer, but when MSU kicks-in, this place is only doable in the super a.m. hours. There are 5 customers in line at every check-out isle. They seem to always be stocking the shelves during peak shopping times...WTF!?! Nostalgia shoots this place up to a 5 star. People who live in the Meijer area (I'm talking midwest- MI, OH, IL, KY) you people don't know how good you have it. I have lived down south, and out west, and am still looking for a Meijer equal (though I must say HEB out in Texas is pretty close). What is it about Meijers? I can't pin point any one thing.. .perhaps because they have everything. Called the East Lansing, Michigan Meijer Pharmacy today, to ask if my prescriptions were called in by my doctor. You can't count on Meijer texting and/or sending emails as they do not remain consistent with those forms of communication. The employee who answered was extremely rude from the beginning, asked me questions on whether I received a text or email.....ummmm no because they almost never send me the emails or texts I ask to get. Eventually she told me to "HOLD ON" (in a snotty tone) and put me on hold. I hung up. If this chick don't like her job and doesn't know how to treat customers she should FIND A NEW ONE! read more

Got two guppies from here and they both had a sickness that paralyzed them. they were euthanized the next day, my tank that I had been preparing for months had to be sanitized(meaning no more cycle) they had tanks FILLED with algae because they overstocked them with goldfish(goldfish have no stomach and mass produce waste, which turns into ammonia) goldfish had ammonia burns and funguses from the ammonia, bettas were being advertised with small bowls and containers no fish can live in, and almost every fish was sick or dying. If you're going to sell animals at least do more than ten seconds of research on them. I will never buy fish here again, let alone buy ANYTHING from this store again read more

My best friend and I used to spend hours and hours late at night dancing around the aisles of this Meijer. We would announce to our house mates that we were going to get groceries and everyone would say "seeya in 4 hours. I think there just one time we were able to convince another one of our roommates to go with us. After an hour of bopping down the frozen food aisle singing along to Earth, Wind and Fire over the PA system she swore she would never come with us again and begged us to take her home. We loved to grocery shop together - it was almost bonding time - so we took our sweet time. As a born and raised Michigander, Meijer is in my blood. It's THEE superstore! I don't think anyone outside the midwest area understands the greatness that is Meijer, and this location surely embodies this all. The best way to describe a Meijer is like a half the size and fun of a Super-Walmart, and you don't feel dead inside when you shop there. Here's a shopping list of things you could get at the one-stop-shop wonder that we call Meijer: - pork chops - spark plugs - pantyhose - a gallon of eggshell ceiling paint - bushes and other shrubbery of your liking - a hamster and/or parakeet - potato salad - Carhartt overalls Oh and by the way, you can get all of this 24 hours a day! read more

Well, it's convenient and where else can you buy groceries, a new television set and a new pair of shoes at 3:00 in the morning? The prices are competitive and they have a wide selection. I like it a lot less since they took away so many of the full service checkout aisles and replaced them with self serve checkouts. I don't mind using them for small orders but the large order checkout machines NEVER work, so at some point you have to wait while the 1 person who is assigned to all the self serve aisles comes to reset your machine. This takes a while since that one person is frequently running from one machine to another. It can also be hard when you are shopping alone because you have to pause in the ringing up process to bag your own groceries. Personally, I would rather spend a little more on groceries if that would ensure that they have more full service lanes. read more

The renovation of this store was the worst thing that could've happened. I've been a loyal customer to Meijer, specifically this one on Lake Lansing, for about twenty years. After every renovation it's taken about a month for me to figure out where they moved things. This time, however, they are beyond redemption, and after months of the new store being completed, I still cannot find anything. Among the inconveniences is the fact that the frozen goods are now in the part of the store that is furthest from the registers, so by the time you go to check out, your ice cream has melted completely (this is fact rather than opinion; I've heard other people complain about this too.) My advice? Drive a little bit further for a lot less hassle. read more

This store is most always out of meijer brand half and half both red and purple cartons. 8 out of 10 visits to shop. Tired of calling customer service while I am at store to ask for someone to stock shelves. And tired of using department phones as well. And telling cashiers too. The best Meijer in town. They usually, and I do have to say only usually, have a decent selection of produce and meat. They also seem to have more varied groceries than the South Cedar Meijer. The whole store was renovated recently, and it kinda shows. My only complaint is that everyone is always so angry when they're shopping at Meijer. I don't know what it is, the place is just steeped in loathing. Edit: Ok, I don't know what the deal is, but my grocery bills just about doubled in the last year. I agree with other Yelpers. If you don't live in an area serviced by Meijer, then you're missing out. I currently live in North Carolina. They don't have Meijer. I am forced to shop at Food Lion (bleh), or Super Wal-Mart (double bleh). The place is open 24 hours pretty much every day of the year. Also, they usually have pretty good prices on their food (especially if its on sale). The wine selection is pretty large, and I'm usually able to pick up other odds and ends if I need them from the general merchandise area of the store (Falls Creek mom pants anyone?) read more

I love Meijer, and I love the people who work there. Most of them are quite friendly and helpful. The store itself is exceptionally ugly since all the remodeling; stand by the pharmacy and you can see all the way to the egg shelves several hundred feet away. There is nothing cozy about the place, and the music is too loud and awful pop-stuff. The lighting is way too bright Also, when things are on sale, they stock, it seems, only a few of the sale items. Whemn the sale ends, the shelves are full once again. You can be there the second a sale starts and there is simply little or even no merchandise to be had. Still, I love the store because I can usually get whatever I want there. And the people, especially the fantastic James Kelly and Shannon the greeter. read more

This Meijer is no different than others I've been to in the local area. It has everything and the customer service is great. My only complaints are that they have a very small organic selection and that so many items are either close to their expiration date or expired. The most frustrating instance has been when I came home and was feeding my young daughter yogurt and realized that it was 2 weeks past it's expiration date. I immediately called the store so they could check the remaining yogurt and the employee was very nice and apologized. read more

Honestly sick of meijer there over priced and claim to have better service then walmart but in reality they fired most of there employees and there service recently is horrible they use the same check outs and almost everything they sell is sold at Walmart for cheaper only thing they have on walmart is there food selection and if you want that you just have to go to west lansing..... Of the Meijer stores in the area, this one is the best for groceries - they've got the biggest selection of organic/unique foods & fresh produce. The only problem is that the only acceptable time to shop (if you're not looking to get bowled over by self-absorbed stay-at-home-yuppie-moms engrossed in their cellphones or irritable professionals trying to run errands on their break, that is) is at approximately 1:52 in the morning. Seriously, this place is almost always packed during reasonable day hours, and the biggest chunk of their clientele not only do not know how to park their beastly Sanity Usurping Vehicles BUT are also colossally rude and impatient. No fault of the store, mind you, but it is off-putting. I try to go at obscene hours to avoid people like that, but that provides extra challenges when the students are back (and drunk, usually). My wife was just harassed leaving this Meijer. She paid for her items at the self-scan and exited, but the buzzer at the exit went off inadvertently (all of her items we paid for and on her receipt). The nearest employee to the door stopped her and would not let her leave without her receipt, which the self scan attendant retrieved for her. The exit employee then proceeded to empty all of my wife's purchased items onto the floor of the store and check them off the receipt one by one, questioning her as to whether each item was actually on the receipt. It is not the customer's responsibility to ensure the buzzers at the exits of retail stores are properly functioning. If you pay for items, you have the right to exit the store. Harassing the customer, leaving their items on the floor for the customer to pick up once you prove you paid for each individual item, is the opposite of service. Heaven forbid another customer throw their receipt away before exiting this Meijer. read more

I have noticed a distinct change for the worse in the Meijer philosophy over the last five years. Meijer now wants their customers to do most of the checkout work for themselves so Meijer can save on personnel costs. If you don't like using self-checkout, the wait is usually quite long for a cashier. I know bad people ruin it for others, but the return policy is not flexible at all. I tried to return a small 35-cent hardware item and couldn't find my receipt and felt like I was treated like a criminal; they allowed me to return the item "this time," but I would not be able to return another item without a receipt in the future...ever. It just doesn't feel the same anymore. I've been shopping at smaller stores when I can, but I do end up paying more. Meijer has great sales and great prices, but I don't like shopping where I don't feel wanted. read more

I went last night and the produce section was a nightmare (old, messy), and the rest of the store wasn't any better. There was someone cleaning the floor with a really loud machine; the lady at the register where I payed says: its hard to hear yourself think. I agree. Being a Michigan Native I have a soft spot for meijer but this is hands down the worst meijer I've ever been to. The set up is ridiculous and confusing, everything I buy becomes rotted within the week, and the bottle return is always either full or broken. Thus far I'm pretty disappointed with the service here.... there was an issue straight off the bat at the register and it was dealt with really poorly. I had to go get a full refund (no guarantees on when the money would come back it's still not back...) and I've not heard back from any manager. Yikes. Love it. I'm one of those strange people who like to go up and down the aisles looking for specials - mostly groceries. Check the weekly circular for sales and stock up. We rarely buy full price. You'll find everything you need in one stop. Lots of checkout lanes. The one bad thing about the remodel of the store is the location of the pharmacy, which is no longer near the groceries so if you need toothpaste or aspirin in addition to your groceries you have to push your cart to the other side of the store. Maybe I'm lazy, but I find it annoying and a remodeling mistake. I'm sure some "brilliant" retail researcher thought it was a smart decision to boost perscription orders. read more
