Inside wasn't too crazy busy today, still a semi-normal Saturday rush. This is the most dead I have ever seen a Costco on a Saturday. I still like to see what offerings each Costco has. We wouldn't normally stop at this Costco in East Lansing. It's on the northeast side of the Lansing metro area and, while we do visit friends on the southeast side of town, even when we are in the area this is out of the way. Today we were going to visit them and decided to stop at Costco to pick up a pizza as a surprise. But just before we arrived at Costco our friends called to check on when we were arriving and mentioned that they had pizza for us. By this time we were almost at Costco and decided to stop in for a Very Berry Sundae for Birthday and a Hot Dog & Drink deal before going to see them. While we were enjoying our snack, my wife spotted large pots full of pansies, our friend's favorite, at a really good price. She suggested we buy one, and we did! We didn't have the time or the need to go deeper into the store but everything we saw looked like a typical Costco. The checkout girl was fast and friendly as we usually experience at other Costcos. (It's really only one or two items...) + It is worth noting this specific food court has much fresher tasting food than other locations I've been to. + This location never gets too busy and doesn't have ridiculous check-out lines, even on a Saturday. read more

Actually a solid 3.5 star review. As of Nov 2018 this is still a fairly new location for Costco. We were formerly with Sam's for many years and switched over. Honestly I'm a serious shopper and I just don't see a massive difference between the two ( perhaps other than corporate ownership/ politics etc). The gas is obviously a place to save money. The little cafe is ok, but not fabulous or innovative. They do have a selection of appliances. A decent optical dept. Pharmacy. A really nice meat and seafood dept. Good bakery. Nice cheeses. Good array of wine and liquor. Clothing. Etc Etc....Lots and Lots of everything yes...just not wildly different from Sam's, but a good warehouse store that can be better. read more

They have very bad customer service. It seems like thes have a vendetta against other minorities (such as Muslims/hijabis.) My family has 2 card memberships and when we tried to use our brothers they wouldn't less us pass and demanded that he be here. We even showed them our id which showcased the same last name but they still denied. We have many memberships with other stores and none of them have ever been as bad as this one. read more

Can't go wrong with Costco. We moved from California to Michigan and I was wondering if there was going to be any differences between the old Costco and this one. I didn't see much differences. Prices are great, selection is there and I was able to find everything we needed here. One thing I do miss is that there isn't much Asian groceries available here but that's okay. Had an excellent experience here! I'm from Hawaii where Costco is an INSTITUTION. So I make it a point to check out as many Costco's as I can on the mainland. This was the first that had a bunch of motorized appliances, and some sections that gave me a Home Depot feel (in a good way! Bc I'm usually super overwhelmed at Home Depot). We had an amazing associate (didn't catch her name, but she has amazing brows and red hair) help us choose our new tv and printer. It was a different layout from many of the Costco's I've been to, but thankfully everyone was super helpful when we were looking for specific items. We ended up having to come back for the tv bc we loaded up on too many awesome stuff, but Bobby was exceptionally helpful when I came back to pick it up. He also radioed in a request so that the people in front knew to ask one of the cart associated to help me lift it in my car. Amazing customer service - gold stars all around. A few things to note: - There aren't any self check out options for the store or for the food court. Not a huge deal since there were plenty of registers open and it wasn't super crowded. - Everyone was wearing mask. - The two Costco associates were super great when checking out. One of them proactively took charge of our cart and organized things so we didn't have to take a lot of items out and place them on the conveyer belt. First time I've encountered this and quite frankly an ingenious practice! read more

This Costco appears to enforce some strange policies. For example, non-member cannot pay, and they will make sure you are embarrassed in front of other people. We have been in many other Costco and never had to experience that. They also see tomorrow's food. Sometimes the packing time of fish is in the future. They must have a way to travel in time. Nearly every time I buy produce here, it is rotten. Today it was the organic strawberries, last time it was the organic apples, time before that it was a bag of tangerines. I guess I should learn my lesson and not buy produce from here. Or I should pretend it's a regular grocery store and open the packages the check. Rude Customer Service I have been in need of hearing aids for years, but was never able to afford them. Based on a family member recommendation, my wife and I joined Costco for the sole purpose of me finally getting hearing aids. We set an appointment two weeks ago to have my hearing tested and purchase my hearing aids today. I was the first customer appointment of the day. When we arrived we were not acknowledged promptly, then we were told to sit and wait. The audiologist finally appeared only to speak to another walk-up customer and totally ignored us and our scheduled appointment. Then, she very rudely turned her back on us and acted like we were non-existent. After waiting several minutes, we left extremely disgusted and disappointed. I attempted to speak with a Costco Manager about my poor experience, but was informed that none were available. As an older retiree, purchasing hearing aids with no insurance coverage, is a big deal. My wife and I were anxiously waiting for this day, only to be very upset by the way that we were so rudely ignored. We drove over an hour in heavy construction traffic for this appointment, only to be mistreated and made to feel like we do not matter. If we were treated this poorly at the point of sale, I can only imagine how bad we would be treated in the event we ever needed service, or repair, on the hearing aids. Since Costco is far from our home, and I will not be able to get my hearing aids from them, I now want to cancel my membership. read more

Specifically customer service at the Optical Center. I came in on the 12th of this month and had an eye exam and bought glasses. Both on the 12th. Was told they would be in in 3 to 10 days. Didn't hear anything so checked on them a week later. They were not in. Ok. So today, the 24th, I came in to check on them again. Asked the girl if they were ready as i had ordered them on the 12th. She looked at my paperwork and informed me that I ordered them on the 17th. No, I ordered them on the 12th. So instead of just saying they weren't ready, she proceeded to argue with me. Seriously? Customer here. I have loved this place because they are so friendly! But not this gal. Irritated me. Not good customer service. Ok. It was the 17th. I'm an idiot. read more

I'm so glad to finally have a Costco! The place is clean and the people are friendly. My daughter and I had a yummy dinner at the food court for $7. I regularly go in for the chicken noodle soup, the muffins, the Korean BBQ jerky, a rotisserie chicken, or the pot pie. And I look forward to seeing the unexpected new must-haves... a kite, a flu shot, a TV, a swimsuit. I'm from Seattle, which is where this company comes from, so I'm a huge fan. I also religiously went to the one in San Diego at least a couple times a week. Once we relocated here, I was beyond excited to hear that a new one was opening up. I will honestly say, I've been a little disappointed in what they carry but in their defense, I did come from two large cities so the demand was probably higher. I did initially have some issues with how they were running their warehouse which I brought to the manager's attention and I was really impressed with How much they cared and wanted to hear about my ideas and experiences. It's brand new so I'm going to give it a good year and I look forward to seeing things run more smoothly but I will say, they still aren't drawing pictures on the receipts for kids and they've been doing that for over 20 years at any Costco I've been to. read more

This store is a little smaller than other locations. There is still a pretty good selection in most product categories. The store is clean and seems well managed. I have gotten excellent service from many different employees over many visits. On this trip saw an EE who was stocking product; spot a mother with 3 children. One little girl had a bleeding finger. The EE quickly volunteered to get a bandaid for the family. I talked to a tire dept EE. I had many questions abt several different comparable brands. This EE was extremely helpful. He seemed very knowledgeable. Helping to compare the pros and cons. Very pleasant experience. The wrkrs at the gas station have also been very helpful and friendly. read more

I've only had wonderful experiences at this Costco! Their customer service and return policy is impossible to beat. I purchased dog food and it didn't sit well with my dog and they allowed me to return it for a full refund. Same with a vanilla protein powder that I tried and didn't like the taste of. If you buy it and are unsatisfied for whatever reason, you can return it without any time limitations! As for the guests, they do have to pay cash or use debit. When I have guests go with me I make sure they are aware before they fill their cart with goodies. Yes, some items are "seasonal" so if there is an item you love you should pick it up while you can! This is how the company saves money and provides lower prices. I haven't personally had bad luck with produce, but when buying in bulk it's easy for fresh fruit to get bruised and occasionally moldy. Check it before you buy it, as you would at any other store. As for masks, I haven't witnessed individuals without masks at Costco, so many the general public is stepping up and doing what they can to protect everyone. Gas prices good but not sure it's worth the hassle. Cars lined up forever at pumps but 3 open on wrong side because it's a one way station. Not sure the price is worth the hassle. Disappointed by selection and the produce tends to be kind of gross. I was not aware you were required to show your receipt when you leave the store as part of your membership. When there was a long line from the receipt checker, all the way to the registers, I followed some other people down the side of the line. The receipt checker aggressively jump in front of me, physically stopping my cart, and yelled at me, saying she had to check my receipt (not exaggerating). I told her that I already paid for my items and then she informed that there was a line. She drew a line on my receipt then "allowed" me to leave. The cashiers are extremely quick to check you out, almost to the point of barely talking to you, but the receipt checkers take their sweet time examining your cart and physically stopping people from leaving. The least they could have done was have two "receipt checkers" to speed it up or at least be courteous and patient to their paying customers- not disrespectful, rude, and aggressive. read more

Love the variety of organic foods. Prices are lower than Sam's. They pay their employees better than Sam's. That's important.

We have been Costco members for ten years and enjoy going there to shop. Their Kirkland brand is a good quality store brand and we buy many grocery staples with the Kirkland name. Meats, cheeses, and produce are always of good quality. We have purchased furniture and electronics from Costco and appreciate the additional warranty you get from Costco. Last, their gasoline prices are usually twenty-five cents below the competitive gas prices nearby. Our membership is repaid many times over with just the gasoline savings alone. Been to Sam's Club and it is a full step below in quality, cleanliness, and service. read more
