Back with the original owner was alive, this used to be a fun atmosphere place to get reasonably priced vintage clothing! Now, unfortunately it has become another overpriced vintage shop (that also sells unethically sourced dropship items for 10x the price). Was walking around and we saw this store, wanted to go in and look at "vintagy" stuff for sale. On the way in noticed a sign that said some woke stuff like, "you can't come in if you don't support LGBQ, you can't come in if don't vote for baby killing." The usual BS... We had our kido with us and decided it was still worth taking a look, regardless of the very hateful messages on the front door. Upon entering the owner told us we couldn't come in with our child because the business was, "too small." I literally was too confused to argue much but said something along the lines of, "that doesn't seem very accepting, even though your sign outside makes you seem, like you want to seem, "very accepting." Owner started freaking out, pretty sure he's on drugs, but that doesn't seem off par.. go woke, go broke? Bet this business only last a few more weeks.. zzzz read more

Ted, the owner is awesome. I have been coming here for years. when I lived in lansing I made sure to pop in often, and now that I live in colorado I make sure to try and make my way in when I'm back in town. Awesome stuff for sale in here and I will always be back! Some people just want to complain about anything and everything and I promise you, this vintage store isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Absolutely Disgusted with the service at this establishment. I have shopped here twice- both with the same friends. The first time was amazing- owner was awesome. Very kind, considerate, even played our favorite music while we tried on clothes. I spent almost $200, and swore I would be back to this store. This time however, was embarrassing for owner. He clearly needs to take some time for himself. We were screamed at while in the store for under 10 minutes (with things in our hand planning to purchase) while being told we are disrespectful, not old enough to be in said store, told to never come back. He was also absolutely rude over the phone when called to discuss what went wrong, not even allowing the call to last longer than a minute. Embarrassing customer service, and rude ass employees, considering you're charging $30 for a pair of used pants. Won't be back, and I suggest you don't go at all. read more

This place is amazing! The owners have great taste and a great sense of humor, and this reminds me of a much better version of the stores that I loved in Houston and San Francisco as a teen. My quirky, arty edgy teen daughters loved it. Great addition to Old Town in Lansing - we will surely be supporting it going forward. read more

Literally one of the coolest shops I've ever been to! Amazing selection of clothing and iconic items. Plus the prices are completely reasonable. The staff are rockstars- some of the nicest people I've ever met. As a bonus it's a safe and welcoming atmosphere that is LGBTQ friendly. read more

Decided to check out this place with a group of friends based on a recommendation from one of them who had a positive experience. We drove separately in groups of four and three but arrived within just a few minutes of each other. We greeted our friends who were looking around and a couple already had items in their hands to buy, one of which was showing me the item and smiling and happy about their find. The second we walked in a worker asked if we knew about their sale and we replied we were with the others that just came in and that was that. Only a few minutes later an older man, who was later learned to be the owner, started talking to us out of the blue even though we hadn't said a single word to him as we were in the front and he was in the back. He suddenly started shouting across the store about how he has "cool people who shop all the time here" and doesn't need anyone who isn't cool to come in here at all. He was extremely rude and unsettling and at first my friends and I thought he was joking but soon realized, as he was dropping f-bombs after every other word, that he was upset at us (people who have only just been in the store for 5 min max). He called called us c*nts and and other horrible names, asked how old we were, and gradually made his way to the front so he was closer to us. He kept ranting and since we clearly were not welcome, we left. On the way out he told us to, "f*ck off, b*tches." The way he talked and acted was similar to someone either on drugs or going through withdrawals. Clearly put off and very, very confused, a couple of us called as well as one of our friend's boyfriends. The first call was less than a minute long and was along the very defensive lines of excuse about how we were, "homophobic and fatphobic," although I don't understand how the impression could be made in the extremely limited time we were in there (and not that it matters, because he only judged us on appearance, but our group has a variety of sexualities and body types that he had no right to invade upon). My friend's boyfriend who called was also immediately dismissed because he was not there and apparently we were, "uninterested and unreceptive to sale," and that he, "sounds like you're 12 too so you and your little friends aren't welcome back," (our group was all int the 19-20 range). The place might look cool, albeit pricy, but definitely not worth the immediate harassment that-- after looking at other reviews--are not uncommon. Luckily my group of friend and I confident enough not to let insults get to us too deeply, but the unprovoked name calling and all around bullying could really get to someone, and is frankly very blind-sighting and detrimental to mental health, as we were very obviously judged the second we walked in and heavily implied that we were losers among other things. Tried customer service, they were abrasive and made the situation worse. I do not recommend whatsoever. read more

This place was pretty cool. I wish it had more room to move around as it was pretty packed with item racks. Having people trying to get around each other and with COVID going on made it pretty difficult to properly distance when everyone wants to get somewhere but has to go around others. Staff was nice and everyone luckily wore masks, but more space for easier and more stress free shopping would've made the experience 5 stars! read more

I fly into Lansing 1-2 times a year to visit family in town and I always make multiple trips into this fabulous little Shop! I end up coming back to Los Angeles with suitcases full of one of a kind vintage items like a 1920's red feather accented headband (gorgeous!), dresses galore, and shoes? Oh! Items by Kate Spade (necklace), Marylin Monroe (shirt), and Oscar DeLorente (negligé). And Ted has a whole lot more in that little store of his believe you me. Including an inventory of Plus Size garments. Where the music is playing- it's like finding a cool little mall store in Old Town. And everything is AFFORDABLE! If you haven't been here you don't know what you're missing! Honestly don't know what all the negative reviews are about lately? But, generally while I shop? I am respectful- of other customers and of the merchandise. I put things back where I found them if I'm not going to buy it etc, you get the idea. . . I've never had a problem. I popped in here with a friend during the annual chocolate walk. It sounded interesting -- I grew up in the '60s and '70s so I thought there might be something fun here. There probably is -- but the owner is creepy. And it's kind of stinky. I won't go back unless my husband is with me. The store has been there for quite some time so I doubt my avoidance will put him out of business. read more

This place is going to take off and be huge, I can feel it. I was visiting my hometown from LA, and I was meeting with people to eat at The Creole (also really good!), and I passed by this store. I was showing my bf where I got my first tattoo at Fish Ladder, and we just scooted next door to this happy little place. I was in heaven. There was genuine vintage mixed with some vintage repro items, and fun little household items...and everything was so inexpensive! Like $20 for a 60s fern patterned womens dress??! YES! That easily would have been $60-$80 anywhere near LA. He had some really cute Betsy Johnson bags in when I was there. Then I struck up a conversation with the owner who had lived in LA for many years, and we discovered we even lived in the same neighborhood. He said he moved back here to be near his family, and I think it's fantastic that he decided to open a business to support his local economy. Plus, he has great taste! PLUS PLUS he gave me a 10% discount at the end, so my dress was only $19 with tax. I'll definitely be back the next time I get to my hometown :) read more

Pretty cool- I have an eccentric style, so it really appealed to me. I bought a super cool teal 80's dress to perform in! Some classy, flashy pieces! Also, many boho pieces! Great jackets, tee-shirts and countless dresses! Reasonably priced overall! Certain items (only a few) were somewhat overpriced. It's a great place to go in and really scout around- endless surprises. Great selection. A treasure! read more

These people leaving bad reviews sound awfully uptight. The store has amazing one of a kind finds as well as newer retro deals. I have NEVER felt more welcomed in a retail store! Anytime I have gone in, I've been asked if I was looking for anything in particular and on the occasions that I was, I was graciously assisted. On the occasions I was just browsing, I wasn't harassed in the slightest!! I was greeted with a smile and "I'm here to help if you need it." I'm wondering how much of it was the attitude and disposition of the shopper! And if you look suspicious in ANY retail store, be prepared for questions or getting stopped.
