Lansing Yelpers are forgetting what Goodwill stores are all about: receiving reusable items donated for Pay It Forward enjoyment by the next person where the money is helping others. The quality of stores are a reflection of the communities they service. SE Lansing is not exactly in middle of luxury market - or even an upper middle market. It is SE Lansing. If you're looking for that bargain Hermès scarf, you might want to head east to Birmingham. In the meantime, I've been supporting this store where I can. I made a post on a local fb group asking if anyone knew of cheaper thrift stores since this one is so overpriced. I included a photo of a lidless used casserole dish that was priced at $41.29 for no apparent reason. The next time I went in the store, I asked about a price on an item that seemed incorrect- $20 for a small individual bowl. The manager came out and said "Oh, you're the one from the Facebook post. Lovely." I really didn't expect that level of disrespect for my opinion as my post was not at all 'bashing' the store, just asking for recommendations for cheaper places. I had been hoping that prices may become more reasonable, but the interaction just solidified my resolve to never shop there again. Disappointing that a store that is supposed to exist to make things accessible to low income people like myself has priced us out of being able to shop there in the name of profits. read more

Everything here was nicely arranged and it was clean. Best of all the young man that was working here was super friendly and helpful. I bought two bathing suit tops, hoping all the while that they would fit when I got home with them. If they had not fit though I would have had two weeks to return them instead of the one week that used to be the rule...........they have relaxed the rules a little since they will not allow you to try items on at their store due to the pandemic. Just a Goodwill. Nothing special. No too much here. But found a new chandelier for our house. Like all Goodwill's it's hit or miss if they'll have anything you want. Just stop by. They have very nice staff here. Very friendly as well. read more

I dislike that the Covid restrictions were not enforced or logical to protect the employees. The cashier stands are very close so that customers are lined up inches behind the cashiers. Otherwise it is well organized and not overly cluttered. Garment sizes are very clearly marked and different clothing types are organized by size. The clothes are priced uniformly which is easy, but not my favorite system. It seems a little bit more expensive than other thrift stores in the area. I'm not sure if the different colored tags are discounted at certain times, as in other stores. read more

Don't go here if you are a Men's Small. They have practically nothing for that size. Only about 10 T-Shirts. Otherwise if you wear womens clothes I do recommend. There's so many clothes and almost nothing for men's. Customer service was nice though. read more

our jackson mich goodwill store's are priced high. This is not a rich town and alot of people have depended on all thrift stores to help them get by. Items are donated and ungodly prices are put on these items. example- donated wicker baskets $8-$15 dollars, vases, some are $10-$45 dollars. Dollar store flowers $4-$5 dollars and the list goes on & on. Doesn't give senior discounts anymore. alot of people quit going there because they can't afford to. I thought thrift store were to make things more affordable for customers, some of items donated to all thrift stores are more expensive than a high end department store. I see one person benefiting from these ridiculous prices!!! read more

Prices are very high for clothes that were given to them for free as donations. Also, staff is very spacey and unfriendly. Their books have all been picked through by the staff from what one of them told me.. so nothing that great is left over. I'd rather go to another thrift store. read more

I was testing out a wheelchair for my mother, having my friend push me to make sure it was secure. This employee told us to stop and get out. It was completely inappropriate of her to assume that we had bad intentions. The rest of our shopping trip resulted in her glaring at us. I wouldnt shop again. read more

Brand new goodwill so clean and organized but their prices are higher than other goodwills I've been in

I came here earlier today just looking around and we found some something we liked, we looked through the box to make sure all the pieces were there after asking of course. Then some lady ( who turned out to be the manager on duty ) came up to us and rudely said Uhhh can I help you guys we said we were looking to make sure the pieces were there we had already asked then she rudely said Uhhh ok. After finding a broken piece we went up to the register to see if a discount was applicable the cashier said it says as is which I was ok with but she still called the manager over who to my astonishment was the rude lady. The cashier then whispered to the manager ( which we all heard ) the box says as is but they want a discount. I'm surprised people still go back! I love good will shopping but I probably won't be going to this one anytime soon. read more

I admit it, I like shopping at thrift stores, but this was not a very enjoyable store. After finding out that Goodwill has a ton of donation places and hardly any stores, I thought that this store would be huge and have a ton of great stuff. Boy, was I wrong. When you first walk in the store it smells of dirty feet. Gross! They don't individually price their items, instead they have 1 price set for all shirts, shorts, pants, etc. and it is displayed at the end of every aisle. I understand how that would be a lot easier than individually pricing things, but some things are a steal for the price while others are barely worth $1. We came here looking for white clothes to wear for the Color Run (they throw colored powder on you while you run) coming up in a bit. They had a ton of men's shorts that look straight out of the 80's. A couple so hilarious that we thought they would be great to run in since we will be looking silly by the end of the run. The only solid white shirts that they had were the kind that are sold in 5 packs as undershirts and they wanted around $3 or $4 each for them. No way. Needless to say, we will be waiting until we are back in Grand Rapids to do anymore thrift store shopping. read more
