Great thrift store! This place is BIG and so organized! Everything has its place. The layout is very well thought out. It's very clean with friendly staff. Their craft area is mostly knitting and crocheting, in addition, they have vintage sewing patterns and Knick knacks. There is also a small fabric sections with remnants of all sort of fabrics. I was so impressed by their book selection...big and organized by subject. I picked up four cooking books. I didn't get to go through the shoes and clothes because I was not looking for that. They also have a drop off donation drive thru with staff waiting to check and accept your goods. Overall, this is a great thrift store and I highly recommend it. read more

Love St. Vincent's. Never know what you are going to find! I have purchased books, gotten free books, housewares, furniture, arts and crafts supplies, purses, clothing and odds and ends. Prices are fair. Plenty of parking. Enough staff to help you find items and load your car as necessary. Always a good experience when I shop here. read more

It's always kind of a painful experience to shop here. I only buy essentials here like if I really need a new shirt or something but in line I always see people buying regular stuff that the cashier thinks is collectible, but I know it's not the cashier's fault, I know it's the person who prices things. Today I saw these very sweet people just trying to buy a pair of wooden sandals and a couple beanie babies, which are really worthless despite what some people think, and even though they had price tags on them and everything the cashier was trying to charge collectible prices for them. They have so much yarn there that is very pretty but the original retail price is on the yarn and they charge almost the retail price for it so I can never buy any of it, I just have to window shop. The prices are seriously ridiculous. I think the pricer thinks that stupid things like beanie babies etc are worth a lot, from looking at the highest price of listings on eBay, but that's not the way you resale goes and shopping at a thrift store you're not supposed to be paying resale prices. I usually avoid this shop but my little niece wanted to go there today and I was really just hoping it wouldn't be one of those situations where she would want something that was a total rip off. The thing that she bought was decently priced but like I say that people in front of us were just buying some very unspectacular items and everything they got, the cashier was questioning them like they've gotten the items from a special section instead of just the shoe section for the wooden sandals and the huge basket of stuffies for the cheap little beanie babies that are pretty much worthless. This is really the worst of the thrift stores, to have someone price things for this expensive. Do they really think that it's a bunch of eBay resellers shopping there? Whenever I go there, I pretty much see poor people shopping there, with maybe one eBay resaler. I thought this was a religious thrift store so I just always shake my head when I'm there. read more

I really like this thrift store. When you walk in you see very beautifully crafted displays of nice items. There are often very nice furniture pieces in good condition. The prices make you feel like you made a great deal. All the staff I have encountered have been very friendly. They also seem to be taking good precautions with Covid such as posting signs enforcing proper mask usage and asking people to touch fewer items if they are not intending to buy. I have also seen proper mask rules actually enforced. read more

This was my first visit to a St Vincent De Paul, typically preferring Goodwill but Lansing appears to have a shortage. It's a relatively typical thrift store with men's/women's/ and children's, but rather than having a price per item, items are classified and priced by category (I.e. all women's dresses are $8.50, tops are $3.75). I found this a little irritating as some items are clearly worth more/less than others, and I much prefer the per item pricing like at Goodwill or Salvation Army. They also only have two dressing rooms with a 5 item limit. When I visited, I stood waiting for about 20 minutes as the people in front of me had a cart full of clothes and was taking them in in 5 item increments. I'm sure that this isn't always the case, but it was a little annoying. They have a large section of furniture and home goods. The staff were friendly and personable while showing items from the jewelry case. read more

I love this thrift shop. The prices are great and the staff is very friendly. This last trip I felt like I hit the jackpot.......I got lots of books for me and lots of toys for my grandkids. Everything in the shop is neatly displayed. The books were actually arranged by author and that really helped me find what I was looking for. I can't wait to go back! read more

Dressing rooms have been closed for at least 2 years, and they offer no returns on clothing. It seems like they only care about increasing profit by any means. read more

It's a pretty good place. They have a few neat things. If you're looking for DVDs, books and clothing you should come. They have some nice priced items and also a lot of overpriced items. But the store is very cramped. People were rude and wouldn't make for others to get around them like you're going to buy something they didn't find yet. It would have been better without the rude customers. read more

Where ever I go and I come across a St. Vincent De Paul store, it automatically means good luck. I'm gonna walk outta there with something fabulous at a dirt cheap price. Last time I went to St. Vincent de Paul, I cleaned up. Got all kinds of great summer stuff at dirt cheap prices. I love this shop. I cannot believe I have lived in Lansing for 10 years and have never been to this store. I went on Saturday and the store was well-staffed, full of quality merchandise, clean and orderly. I was really lucky. I spent about $20 and came away with some books, some great dishes, a couple of pieces of kitchen art, and a few antiques. My only complaint is that they don't stay open long enough during the week. I get off work at 5 so the only time I can get in is Saturday. I'd go more frequently if they were open til 6 or 7pm. read more

St. Vincent's has been a store I loved for many years. Their book selection is great and organized and the clothes, although more expensive than VOA, are also more tidy and clean. Today however I stopped in with my sister. She wore a mask; I did not because I have a medical exemption. I had the paper copy with me but the manager wouldn't even look at it. She loudly declared so everyone around could hear, "we know our rights, we've talked to our lawyers, you get out of the store." I understand wearing masks if you are able, but as someone who can't, this was humiliating and unnecessary medical discrimination. It is frustrating enough to have to prove everywhere I go that I'm not an evil person who wants to kill everyone with COVID. But to have blatant rudeness and disrespect was unnecessary. read more

I have been coming into the St. Vincent De Paul on south Washington Avenue for at least 15 years. When I first started coming in before the fire, there were lots of nice things to buy and the staff was really good. But now it seems the staff screens and holds back the best stuff for themselves. I will find nice higher end tops, but then only to find a hole or flaw in it, sometimes after I get it home and am unable to return or exchange it. I know the other thrift stores, like Volunteers of America employees, for example; cannot just hold the select best items back for themselves and put out the rest. And recently, I was in line to checkout and the woman in front of me had an item not marked, which means it has no price or is not for sale. Anyway, the clerk, instead of calling back for a manager, keyed in an annonymous amount. When I got to the checkout, I had a small doll with two prices on it, $1.99 and $3.99. The clerk then called back to see what price she should give me and they said the $3.99. Now mind you I was really upset because I go in there and buy from this store at least ONCE or TWICE A WEEK! This clerk knows who I am!! read more
