I'll be doggone if I didn't leave out with a new couch! LOL Austin greeted us at the door and I'll tell ya ... I knew he was gonna end up selling me something. He was soooooo personable. So respectful. So sweeet. Pimp was sold when Austin invited us to have some free ice cream in the cafe (even though I told him we were "just looking".) We found EXACTLY the kind of couch we were looking for. We were flip-flopping between that and actually a more expensive one but Austin pointed out some things that helped us realize that higher priced one wouldn't work. THEN, we found out we could do 12 months same as cash. Pimp was sold. Oddly enough, the trip to the ladies room sealed the deal for me. The bathroom was tidier than my own at home. But when I asked Austin about whether they still "Scotch Guard" the furniture, and he explained how their company "didn't trust" that product to be safe for their customers, but had a protection policy instead ... what the helllllllll! Don't buy the furniture protection package!!…read more We purchased two recliners and a side table and was urged to buy the protection package called 'goof proof coverage.' The side table immediately started showing signs of chipping paint. We contacted Bob's and after emailing them pictures of ALL of the damaged areas (FYI we do not have small children living with us) they directed us to file a claim with GUARDIAN PROTECTION PRODUCTS, INC. Today, I received an email telling me that our claim was not a covered benefit. Save your money!! Do not buy the furniture protection package! It was an additional $249.00 added to our bill for a 5-year warranty (we purchased electric recliners). Very poor service and very, very poor-quality table!

I always thought it was super high end and expensive for some reason. We decided to just browse one Saturday morning and we ended up having a great experience! There is metered street parking in the front of the store, but there's also a large free parking lot behind the building. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and asked if we had been in before. When we said no, the friendly employee gave us the lay of the land and told us there are three floors to the store and that it's much bigger than it seems from the outside. Totally true! I always thought this store was small, but it's really huge. We started browsing through all the setups and were immediately impressed by the styling of each area and all the different items. They have all kinds of furniture, decorations, and rugs. Prices were clearly marked which I appreciated since it shows they're not trying to hide anything. I was pleasantly surprised that I found quite a few things that would fit into our budget, along with higher-end, more expensive pieces. They also have a clearance section which we looked through. The pieces I saw mostly swayed more modern and a little less traditional, which is more my style anyway. Upstairs we found a coffee table that was a major upgrade from our current table, but still in our budget and actually quite affordable. It has a metal base and a glass/ceramic top that looks and feels like marble. Super sleek and sophisticated! Christine was upstairs and asked if we needed any help. We asked her about the process for purchasing as we wouldn't be able to fit the table into our car. She told us that we could pay for it and come back with a larger vehicle, or we could pay $60 for local delivery. SOLD! I am all about that convenience and for $60 they can pack and carry the pretty heavy table. We paid for our purchase and Christine was super awesome with the whole process. I am so glad we finally stopped in to Stonesthrow and I can't wait to go back! She did say that they also do special orders if you know something you want and they are able to get it in store. Highly recommend looking here instead of Wayfair etc. for a local option. They also provide interior design services!

I entered a claim, they looked at it, said they could fix it ... 2 weeks later they say they can't but here is $100 for your couch andbyou get to keep your broke couch that you can't even sit on.... ONE HUNDRED FREAKING DOLLARS FOR A $700 BROKEN COUCH BARELY OVER A YEAR OLD!!!!! That is BEYOND insulting!! So I appealed the "gesture" and said I will NOT accept $100 for a couch I paid $700+ for a year ago with a 5 year "pure promise" warranty!!! They contacted me back not long after and said they understood my frustration and value city will contact me with further instructions on how to take care of the situation... cool. Nothing for a couple weeks, so I called the value city customer service and told them the situation and they transferred me to the purchase location in Lansing, MI. I spoke with a representative there that kept interrupting me whole i was trying to explain the situation saying "you have to call in a claim with the warranty company" which I had already done. So I asked to speak with the manager about the situation instead, who said they would talk to the other managers to see what protocol is. I left my number to receive a call back. Meanwhile, the frame on the other corner has since broken apart and is poking through the couch rendering it unusable. It has been 3 weeks with no call back from the manager at the Lansing, MI location still hasn't called me back. So last Friday I called again went through the whole process again, spoke with the manager, told them I had already been through this and am getting NO WHERE with this.  They promised me I would get a call first thing Monday morning (today) Here we are, almost 4pm and still no call. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that they have been busy, but I will be calling first thing tomorrow!!! Also, before it is said i just abuse my couch... I am the only one who sits on it, maybe an hour a day, along with my 40lb dog. The FRAME of couch should not break from an hour a day of sitting!!! The furniture sold by Value City is cheap, their customer service is trash, and the warranty company they use is junk. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THEM!!!!! This has also been taken to local social media, as well as a local news anchor, and if it doesn't get resolved tomorrow then I will also be taking this issue to the better business bureau and beyond if needed.

The sales clerk Michelle was helpful and kind while we were making our purchase but once it was delivered, and there was an issue, that all changed! Complete unprofessional behavior came at me so fast from our once friendly sales clerk that I was honestly stunned! Michelle, and the manager Denise, were both so rude and even argued with me when I asked for a resolution to the problem. The manager (if you can call her that) hung up on me! Plus if you complain.....they are so rude over the phone and on line. They NO LONGER value loyal customers. I have been shopping at this place for years......recently moved back to the Lansing Area and wanted to update our power sofa. I didn't think to check reviews since I had made several purchases over the years and never had a problem. The sofa I wanted had to be made and it would take 9 months (despite being in their printed flyer).....I said no and started to leave and Spencer H. (the salesperson) said that a leather one was being made and to come back in a few days and we could buy that. Two days later we go in and of course he's not there, but Lisa P. the Ass't Manager (or so her card said) that it could be delivered in 1 week. She STRONGLY suggested the Extended Warranty saying it offered a one time replacement for any reason for the 1st Five Years. Paid them upfront, including the warranty plan. When delivered, the sofa has a nasty odor and is made so poorly. The leather seams do not match up.....it was made in pieces and assembled so it's very crooked. The craftsmanship is a total joke. I called ASAP and requested a pick up and refund. I was told by Brandon (who is the phone guy only) that he wasn't allowed to authorize that. I asked for him to leave a message and have someone return my call. Nothing. A few days later I called to ask for the Store MGR and phone guy Brandon says they DO NOT have a Manager and that if there is a problem....you must call Lazy Boy Customer Care....who claim they have no control over refunds and bounced it back to store level and they won't help me. So now I just have to eat $3100......I don't think so. I have only just begun to fight. So moral of this Story.........go to Value City, Furniture Row, or even Big Lots. You still might get crap......but it will cost you less.

It was still very sturdy and the leather was in decent shape but wanted to upgrade the style to something newer. We bought the three piece Tidalwave set. Leather couch, loveseat and recliner. Now four years later, the two reclining seats in the loveseat are broken and the leather has already faded and discolored on all of the furniture!! It's absolutely trash. The quality has taken a nose dive. Very disappointed that a furniture set doesn't even last five years!!!

I was told by staff member 'Joe' at the end of this furniture problem that he "sat on all the couch cushions in the store and within 10 minutes the fabric began to bunch up on every cushion". He refused to refund the furniture we bought & the 'the manufacturer (Benchcraft) will not speak to customers!' He also said that we're supposed to hand brush the fabric backwards after each time that anyone gets up, from sitting down. I told him this is 'Faulty furniture & this problem 'is not a normal thing' for furniture to do. (whole story below) We won't be back to this place again! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (I dont want other people to get ripped off like we did. Buy from a trusted large, name brand store.) (Beginning:) After purchasing a love seat & chair, within the first week the fabric began 'bunching up' on all 3 seat cushions & stayed like that (on all 3 cushions). I called National Unclaimed Freight store in Lansing & I texted photos of the 'fabric bunching problem' clearly seen in photos, upon their request, & I also stated that I wanted to return the furniture & get a refund. The staff politely said they would order 3 new cushions at no cost and said let's try this first. After a lengthy wait, maybe 3 weeks I think it was (or seemed that long) the staff brought 3 new cushions out to us, that again started doing the same 'fabric bunching up on all three cushions'. I called the store back again, then at 'Joe's request... I texted new photos, of the new cushions, to 'Joe' whom I spoke to before, & again I stated that I want to get a refund on this furniture. It's now going on week #2 after calling, & I still have not received a call back. So I called again tonight with nobody answered the phone. We bought this furniture on July 12, 2024 but I believe it was approx. seven weeks before we received it. Search reviews online and at BBB.org (Better Business Bureau) to find furniture stores with a good reputation that stand behind their products & name to keep their customers coming back!!!!! The mattress frame is supposed to have 24 screws put in 6 at each corner with 3 on each side of the corner. They left about 8-10 screws out and just tossed them in the draw that were under the bed. I guess they got tired of screwing screw and said oh well not our bed. They installed it so close the wall cant even get on that side of the bed. I dont know where they found the install crew but they were totally clueless. The head board wasn't put on right and fell into my wall and put a hole in it. This store and the corporate/Furniture Row could not care less about this shoddy install. One last thing they dont inform when upgrading to drawers under the bed that they dont even pull out far enough from underneath to even reach in or they didn't install those right. To be honest if I couldn't do a better job than that I would quit and call it a day. Ill up load some pics soon. If you want to take a chance that's up to you but dont say I didn't tell you!! Total shoddy experience and very disappointed as this was a birthday present from my dad and these people ruined it. As of today they have not taken responsibility for the mistake and rectified it despite 3 years of trying to get them too. What they do is stall you until they finally say its been to long or make up some excuse why its not being such as there was no warranty. Again has nothing to do with the warranty has to do with the horrible set up. This store always responds with contact us were here ready to help but dont fall for it. This is just their standard reply on everything but when push comes to shove they are no where to be seen. I would think long and hard before paying these people to set up anything.
