I respect her professionalism and the eloquence of her note, and therefore am submitting an edit to Yelp. My purpose in leaving the review(s) I wrote about the antiques shops/"malls" in this area was to save others the drive, the gas, the time, and the disappointment of this misrepresented area. My husband and I go antique-ing every weekend as we are avid collectors. I was an antiques dealer for many years in Grand Rapids, and find it misleading and disheartening when an area advertises itself as an antiques destination only to make a trip to the area and find mostly garage sale junk and one owner who told me the malls have to carry that because they can't survive selling true antiques (I would assert this isn't the case, and can provide a litany of true antiques malls in West Michigan). That being said, I have to applaud any antiques business owner in this area who strives to be a purist and supply true antiques to the area.

The old house itself, with slanted floors and a narrow staircase is pretty awesome. Mason isn't too far from East Lansing and is definitely worth a side trip if you are big on antiques. Online bidders were led to believe that the online auction was ending 8/20 at 9:30 AM when the truth is that the live on-site auction started at 10AM. Although I "won" the online auction I was later informed that the bidding was just a "Pre-Bid" activity. When I pointed out that their website clearly listed me as the winner, the auction management company refused to honor their commitment. Later I discovered that this company must be no stranger to litigation as they list that all legal claims must be sent to South Carolina.

The auction needed to happen quickly, and they really jumped to make that happen. They came out and organized the items into lots, photographed them, and cataloged them very efficiently and effectively. The hammer prices were significantly above what I had expected, and I ended up making more than they had estimated. They also took care of a post auction problem from one of the bidders, by buying two items themselves. All in all, this was a great and hassle free experience.
