I am a huge fan of Meijer. I miss it when I am out of the area. This one in DeWitt, Michigan, provides an important grocery business for the region just north of Lansing. It provides an important alternative to Kroger and Wal-Mart and convenience stores. It has ample, well-lit parking, with easy access to either of its entrances. In general, the parking lot is well kept. Though sometimes guests leave their carts or trash in the lot, and it can take some time to get things picked up or moved. I find the set up of the self checkout here a bit confusing to see, but it is not difficult to use, and the supporting cashiers are helpful and keep a close eye on registers and users that need support. The self checkout area is clean, too, and well stocked with bags. in my recent visit, the produce area (one of the main reasons I prefer Meijer) was well-stocked with quality produce. There is a reasonable variety of fresh items (three kinds of green beans, for example), some are pre processed and cleaned; others are in bulk form. I didn't check out the department store area on this visit, but from what I can see, it was clean and well-lit. read more

I shop here because it's local, but man, the out-of-stocks are out of control here. You go there in the afternoon and it is a festival of shelf holes. I have to prepare to have enough time to go somewhere else because I know that whatever I'm looking for only has a chance of being there. read more

Arrived at Meijer for my grocery pickup only to be informed that they had changed my pickup time to tomorrow- without bothering to let me know. When I called to express my frustration about this they told me they could give me a $10 coupon as compensation. Way to go Meijer- you just lost a lifelong customer. read more

As with after every holiday, Meijer has steep discounts on their seasonal merchandise. They had some Christmas bed sheets marked 50% off, $5 instead of $10. I'm not really one for "holiday" decoration, especially sheets, but at $5 who cares. I get to the checkout and the computer marks it as $15. The clerk calls over the manager for a price adjustment and the manager refuses. First she states they can't offer the price because her staff labeled the product incorrectly (as if this was my problem). Then she insinuated that I had made my own Meijer price labels to scam the store...seriously. Keep in mind all I was purchasing was the now out-of-season sheet set and some cut-up watermelon. If it was a TV or some other high-priced electronic kind of thing, or if I was trying to buy some outrageous quantity of the sheet sets, I could understand the accusation. This was a bed sheet set. And not some high-end bed sheet set either, just the cheap-o ones with snowflakes and reindeer printed on them. But the manager only had bizarre explanations full of conspiracies. She then tried to negotiate, meeting me in the middle at $11. This Meijer clearly has extensive managerial issues: By their own admission they have substantial problems managing their inventory, and for this they blame first their staff and second the customer. Over $6, they lost someone who has shopped at Meijer for 25 years. Let's be real - there are two Walmarts, a Sams, and two Krogers within a 10-15 minute drive, all with better prices and less hassle. Meijer competes with Wal-mart....Wal-mart competes with Amazon. Where do you think you're going to get more for your money? read more

You are better off driving a extra 15 minutes to Lansing! Never anything on the self at this location and the one time they had what I wanted the customer service was horrible! One of the team leaders had to price match from another store and she whined and complained to me the whole time that it wasn't fair bc they shouldn't have to lose money for another stores mistake. I guess the tag was wrong and it wasn't actually a sale item (from what she says) but they still had to give me the extra $10 off but she definitely made it known she wasn't happy about it. read more

Yeah, Meijer is a Michigan thing... but they're successful for a reason. While they may directly compete with Super Walmarts, their employees are of much better quality as is their food and dry goods. This Meijer is fairly new, so it's bright, clean, and well laid-out. My only complaint would be to recommend they put the cold beer near the warm beer (as in other Meijer locations). read more

I have been a customer of Meijer for 37 yrs and enjoy the prices and cleanliness. However, I have an issue, in which I have numerosly filed complaints for the past three years. I frequently purchase club soda and charged the bottle deposit upon purcase. However, this store's bottle return will not recognize the bottles that were purchased from the store. Over the past three years, I have registered my complaint to the managers at the information desk, as well as, four months ago to the store director and to no avail. I find this frustrating and annoying. I take my club soda bottles to other stores for refund. read more

If you live in Michigan, you pretty much know what you need to know about Meijer. If you live in or around Lansing, you've probably been to many of the greater Lansing Meijers. To keep things fairly straightforward, this is one of the two best Meijers around Lansing (the other being Grand Ledge). If you live on the northern side of town it's generally worth the trip up to DeWitt - I even used to drive up to this Meijer when I was living near downtown East Lansing. Fairly new store, very clean and spacious. A good amount of customers without being crowded, as not a lot of people know about it. Easy to get to right off the interstate. read more

I have always been a fan of Meijer's especially when I moved away and didn't have one to go to. Since moving back to Michigan I again have rediscovered my love for all Meijer's has to offer. The Meijer's in Dewitt simply put is the best I have been too. I will go out of my way to drive their for groceries before going anywhere else. Although it is semi-new it is the cleanest and best laid out Meijer's that I know of. Their selection of meat is unsurpassed by any chain of grocery stores. This is the second time I have came in waited around the pet supply area to see if a employee might walk by to help me... nope. Waited longer, walked around could not find an employee until all the way in the meat dept. He walked into the back double doors & left me. I called the store to try to get assistance while, waiting in the store. Automated operator says all departments are busy. Please call back & disconnects twice!! Can't call a manager, for help in the store. All the fish tanks have dead fish in them with ick disease in every tank. Snails in every tank. A lot of clothes the little amount they had were over priced for a meijer store. A lot of empty space in most departments. Enough room for a dancefloor in every department. Three people there to greet me though, that's important, when you font have any employees in departments to assist you & no access to call for assistance. read more

We helped host two family events while we were recently in Michigan and the Meijer's bakery bent over backwards to create a birthday cake as well as a very last minute heart shaped cupcake cake - ordered in less than 6 hours of the engagement party. Both were quite a hit and added to the specialness of the parties. In California where we're from, we might have been able to have the cake at the last minute, but not the personalized cupcake cake. Got a coupon to try the popcorn chicken (free)... After waiting 25+ minutes at Deli counter where only TWO (2) employees "casually" waited on a line of 10-15+ Friday 5-5:30 pm (you would THINK "prime dinner purchasers?!?) , I was waited on... I was given the popcorn chicken in a cup from a "warm" tray untouched/untended/unfreshened for the 30+ minutes I observed Might as well call it CHICKEN JERKY!!! Isn't there a "shelf life" or a freshness limit??? I don't question the TIME it was made but the DAY!!! I dare NOT try the "regular" chicken offered, KFC and others have nothing to fear...!!! read more

Low prices? Yes. Meijer does have low prices but the price doesn't matter when the item on sale is not on the shelf. What store is unable to adequately stock fruits and vegetable in this day and age? Meijer in DeWitt. These are not uncommon occurrences. DeWitt Meijer wins my award as one of the worst run grocery stores in the country.
