This is definitely the best grocery store in Mason as far as price goes but like most stores nowadays, you have to drive around from place to place to get the best deals. Some stores have better deals on particular items than others and this one is no exception. Aside from the prices, the food options aren't bad but as far as fresh food goes, it's not always the most fresh, especially in the meat department or vegetables. As far as service goes, the people you have to interact with like the cashiers or attendants are great, can be slow a times but mostly do great work. It's the stockers I'm not sure about, leaving boxes of frozen food to be put out an hour or two after it's been in room temperature. Just be careful what you eat from here sometimes. As far as the atmosphere, it's usually very clean and organized so I can't complain much there, carts are usually stocked up well too. One thing I don't understand is why it seems they are closing the 'Home' side of the store's doors earlier and earlier? I don't know, a bit of a pain but not the end of the world. At the end of the day, if you don't want to leave Mason for your groceries and want to be able to use digital coupons or coupons in general, this is what we got haha. read more

Unfortunately after reading other reviews just before this it looks like I'm just adding in to it all. Literally the worst pharmacy I've ever experienced. I don't do a lot of reviews, especially since most of the time reviews can be anger driven and so a place even though it may be good appears bad because the good reviews are further and farther between. But this is not the first time I've experienced issues and it's been going on for years. This will be my last RX pickup from this location. Mperks don't pay back enough for the hassle. I've had to go back 4 times now for the same prescription. I live 25 min away, so I've wasted a little over 3 hours of time and gas driving. First time it wasn't filled yet even though it was sent over 2 days before with directions to fill. Second day I go back and at that point they tell me I need prior authorization. No call to me or my doctor prior, found out by driving up there after the day before they said it would be filled within an hour. Get the prior authorization. Prescription re sent over with fill instructions to fill immediately for pick up. It takes about 4 hours from that point for me to work my way back up. NOT FILLED, again! So now I have to drive back up another time for my prescription. I am never using that pharmacy again for anything and I suggest no one else does. I called the Meijer airport road pharmacy and Jackson Sam's Club pharmacy and they both said they could have it in 20 min if I have an issue again and need to have it switched. The airport road Meijer even said the Mason Meijer pharmacy has a bad reputation and they pick up prescriptions off them all the time. Any other pharmacy I've used the prescription has always been filled before I arrive. Even some I've expected to wait on because there was such little time on the drive. This isn't just since the other pharmacies locally closed, this has been for years longer. Trust me and the other reviews, don't waste your time and go elsewhere. read more

Feel like buying shoes, a corn dog, a bag of oranges, a can of soup, and a tank top? You're in luck. They've got all of that here, plus more. You have to admire them for packing so much into this store. The deli counter has a lot of prepped foods, the home section has all the decor, there's a big clothing section, bakery, and now a shoe section. All of that on top of the big grocery section that they're really known for. I don't know the square footage here, but it rivals the Walmart Supercenters of this world, and I'll take a Meijer over them any day. I really loved Meijer back when I lived in the midwest, but I don't live there anymore, so it's no longer my store. read more

This is a great Meijer...my hometown location. Clean and bright, and newer than many of the other stores. Always well stocked. Great meat, dairy, deli and produce. Good prices. Housewares, clothing, pharmacy. Gas station. I do virtually all my shopping at this and the Okemos location. Friendly and helpful staff like you would expect in Mason. read more

Meijer Mason MI 31OCT2023 5:15PM Been going there for years. Now despise the place because of two bad apples. And will speak poorly about the store to others. Was buying scotch, the check out guy wanted to scan my ID. I said I will not allow that. (Who would, considering the info on your license.) He said with insolence, "Meijer's rules". Although over the years I was never asked to have card scanned. He could have looked at it to enter my birthday, 71. No problem with that. So I speak with the manager, Josh, who was nothing less than a disheartening jerk. He said that's always the way it's done. I said I've never seen that. But he did say, "You're welcome to buy your alcohol at another store." At that point saw him a worthless and embarrassing manager in any and all respects. That was a smart alec, demeaning comment. Left a bad impression. We'll always tell others about the bad management at Meijers in Mason because of Josh ad the inept guy at self checkout. Get rid of them. They are always moving things around in this store which is super annoying. Their selections aren't great, which makes me wonder why move it around so much. Ya get bored? Store seems dirty at times. Bakery can never get custom cakes done right, one guy in particular. Paid extra for a cake and he wrote happy birthday on it that looked like my 6 year old did it. It's the only store in town, so if they're out of something you want...... Too bad. And they are out of things that I want on a consistent basis. The guys at the meat counter are not friendly nor helpful, and in some personal interactions I have had; downright rude. Other employees are mostly helpful and cheerful, but there are a handful who look at shoppers as an inconvenience and refuse to move carts and boxes while they stock shelves, making it very difficult to buy certain things. I would have to opine that management condones poor treatment by these employees because its continued to go on for months and months; even after several mentions to managers by me and others that I know. I used to love the Mason, MI Meijers. After moving back to this area ten years ago, I was absolutely thrilled that there was a Meijer in Mason. It used to be clean, well-stocked and well run. Staff members were friendly and helpful. I truly enjoyed shopping there. After the remodeling of the store began, all of that changed. It is now ever changing and difficult to navigate. It is nearly impossible to locate items, the store is often disorganized, (although it is obvious that attempts are being made to the contrary), and there are often smells of glue and other chemicals used in construction. Additionally, the endless noise of tools incessantly provides the ambience for the shopping experience. Sadly, this store was not in need of remodeling in my opinion, so all of this was unnecessary and wasteful--and there are likely negative environmental impacts as well. Friday, May 5, I went to pick up prescriptions for my husband and do a bit of grocery shopping. My schedule is extremely busy, so I do not have time to waste. As I entered the store, I noticed that signs were posted that they were only accepting cash. They could not even process a check. Even though my bank is right across the street, I decided that this was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back and opted not to buy groceries that day. After a discussion with my spouse and a bit of cooling off, we decided to minimally purchase items at Meijer--at least at this point. I love the location, and the employees are absolutely wonderful, but unfortunately shopping at this location is perhaps best for those with a high frustration tolerance who have extra time. I sincerely hope this changes. Perhaps the corporate heads of Meijer need to realize that alienating customers has a lasting impact on business. We live in Holt, right between the Mason Meijer and the South Cedar Meijer. Not surprisingly, we choose the Mason location! (The South Cedar one isn't awful, just always a lot more crowded, and the aisles always seem so narrow and claustrophic to me ...) At any rate, we really like this Meijer. The selection is pretty good, the employees are helpful, and everything is always clean, neat and well-lit. I would like to see a few more organic options, like in the produce section and the cereal and snack aisles, which I've seen at some other Meijer stores around here, but I can't imagine there's a huge market for that stuff in Mason. read more

So this happened yesterday, 1.10.2021... We got a week of dinners planned and I placed a large order of groceries to pick up at Mason Meijer. 42 items. We got the email telling us it was ready at 7:24 pm. Husband took off and pulled in and waited. And waited. And waited. Someone came out and told him they could not find our cart. Then someone else came out and said most of our items were out of stock and they emptied our cart and put everything away and cancelled the order. WHAT??????? However, they issued him a $20 gift card for his trouble. Again....When in the heck is Mason Meijer going to get their crap together.... We cannot eat a gift card. Thanks anyway. read more

Not sure what the best time is to find the sale items in stock. I have tried different days of the week during varying times and they seem to always be out of several of the sale items. Ok, I can live with a few things out of stock but then they changed their pharmacy rewards a few weeks ago to be a fraction of the savings it used to be. They wanted to make it more simple, they said. Their simplicity cost me about $70 in already-purchased pharmacy rewards. Thanks Meijer. This location is fantastic. Truly everything you need in one location. Crowds are minimal (except during a snowstorm or on Sundays right after church) so getting in and out is a breeze. Managers are very friendly and helpful along with the rest of the staff as well. I get books, flowers, groceries, cleaning items, toys, some clothing and most of my pet items here. I have been to many other Meijer locations and often they crazy busy like a zoo - sometimes the customers are crazy, too. Mason location is the best! read more

Now that they have finished the remodel I am a big fan again. I have always lived in EL are up until about 6 years ago, so moving to Mason was a bit of a culture shock for me. This town rolls up the sidewalk at 6:00, except for 3 gas stations, a few restaurants, QD, a couple of other businesses and Meijer. Thank goodness for Meijer. I'm a late night shopper and the midnight crew here can't be beat from the Manager's to the stockers, and especially the cashiers. Even after the remodel I still think of this as a "Mini-Meijer" almost like a huge 7-11, but they have most of everything I need for my family. Every couple of weeks I do go back to my old stomping grounds in EL just 'cause I like the Kroger there for meat. read more

The store is usually very clean. The bottle exchange is located on the far side of the building and only has access from the outside, so it's very inconvenient. The pharmacy is slow and rarely has the medications I need (which are more common medications) so I am waiting days for them to show up and then several days for them to fill... It's nice to have a Meijer store in Mason. You can get many things there that you would have to travel to Lansing to get, otherwise. However, there are some basic things missing and I'm not sure how to get them stocked. I once asked where the barley was. The people (three) I talked to didn't know where it was, and one didn't even know what it was. When I finally found it, there was only quick barley stocked, not pearl barley. Isn't Barley a staple? Their selection is sometimes a bit wanting. But the store is usually clean, well lit and open 24 hours. I'd be very sad to see it go. read more

What is happening to the Mason Meijer store? Slowly but surely they are cutting back on the items they carry limiting our choices. They are being a bit sneaky about it, in my opinion, by spacing the items on the shelves out so it might not appear like empty shelves. Just as a small example from today's shopping list: pancake syrup there are TWO choices in the shelf and no it isn't a restocking issue as that is all the space allocated! Yoplait light yogurt makes about 30 flavors however the store now consistently carries the same FIVE flavors. For months they didn't even stock their own brand of powdered baby formula, SERIOUSLY?!? Try finding a package of 8x10 manila envelopes. These are not rare and unique items. I actually sent an email to the corporate office and ultimate received a call from a manager at the Mason Store. They were so surprised that I thought they were slowly cutting back on the items they carry, I think they were mor surprised I noticed! This store is the only store in town and they are stupidly forcing people to shop elsewhere which is going to cut into their business. As I explained to the manager I spoke with, if I have to to another store to get the things I need and want, I will have no reason to come there at all. I can't believe I am the only frustrated shopper at Meijer in Mason MI. read more
