We've made 3 purchases from pilgrim house over the past 5 years and have been very happy with the…read moreservice they offered and the quality of the items. Our first purchase was a Flexsteel sofa, chair, and ottoman in 2015. It still looks nearly brand new after 5 + years of three kids climbing on it like a jungle gym. In 2019 we purchased a mission style Amish made desk and it's very well made. Still love it. Now in 2021 we purchased a Bassett sectional and a 4 piece Amish made occasional table set and are happy with all of it. It came in ahead of schedule and was delivered by their team right when they said it would be. The two gentlemen who delivered these items were professional, courteous, and took the time to show me how to disconnect the pieces of the sectional in case I need to move it in the future. We have always worked with Bernie. I highly recommend working with him. The only negative thing I can say is I once encountered a less than welcoming demeanor from someone in the store but that was a couple of years ago and I'm not sure she even works there anymore.

Two stars only because we like Bernie, our sales guy. He was great…read more We ordered a dining set back in 2023. It came and we thought the color seemed off but we figured sometimes hard to gauge how a table will look based on a small sample. So we carried on. Didn't love the table but also didn't hate it. But we were very aware it didn't match our kitchen cabinets that we matched up the sample with. Fast forward to this summer when we decided to order a coffee table, an end table and entry table in the exact wood and finish as the dining table because with an open concept living concept the last thing we wanted was to to add another shade of wood to the layout. It was already off given the difference in the shade of the table vs our cabinets, which was supposed to match or at least be close. Everything was ordered to match. Yay! Then they deliver the coffee and end tables and they are the EXACT color of the original sample we used to decide on our dining table but definitely NOT the color of the dining table. We loved it but it confirmed-something/someone messed up our dining table finish. They sent out someone to take pics after we reached out.. It's obvious. After a few weeks we then hear there's nothing they can do. Sooo, they mess up, offer no explanation (or even an apology) and....that's it? Very disappointing. At the very least, own your mistake. You're better off at IKEA where you'll know the furniture matches.

I have been a Bob's customer and currently have a $7,400 Bob's credit line through Wells Fargo. I am still paying for a couch purchased from Bob's. I recently discovered that Bob's ended its relationship with Wells Fargo and will no longer accept my existing credit line for new purchases. I received no noticeable email, letter, or other notification from Bob's informing me that a credit line obtained specifically to shop there would become unusable. I can continue paying Wells Fargo, but if I want financing at Bob's again, I must apply for new credit. After researching why Bob's changed lenders, I became more concerned. Bob's replaced Wells Fargo with Synchrony as its primary financing provider and offers additional financing through companies including Fortiva, Acima and American First Finance. Bob's has publicly discussed higher approval rates and higher approved credit amounts under its new program. The Synchrony MyBob's Card currently discloses a 34.99% regular APR and up to a 39.99% penalty APR. Even more concerning, Bob's own disclosure states that Acima's standard 12-month lease-to-own option may cost MORE THAN DOUBLE the cash price. Bob's markets itself as a "discount" furniture retailer while offering increasingly expensive financing alternatives to consumers who may not qualify for traditional credit. Those consumers are often the people least able to absorb extremely high financing costs. I cannot claim to know Bob's intentions, but I believe this business model deserves consumer scrutiny. There is a difference between expanding access to furniture and creating progressively more expensive ways to complete a sale when a consumer cannot qualify for conventional financing. In my opinion, marketing "discount" furniture this way can leave vulnerable consumers paying anything but a discount.

I'll be doggone if I didn't leave out with a new couch! LOL Austin greeted us at the door and I'll tell ya ... I knew he was gonna end up selling me something. He was soooooo personable. So respectful. So sweeet. Pimp was sold when Austin invited us to have some free ice cream in the cafe (even though I told him we were "just looking".) We found EXACTLY the kind of couch we were looking for. We were flip-flopping between that and actually a more expensive one but Austin pointed out some things that helped us realize that higher priced one wouldn't work. THEN, we found out we could do 12 months same as cash. Pimp was sold. Oddly enough, the trip to the ladies room sealed the deal for me. The bathroom was tidier than my own at home. But when I asked Austin about whether they still "Scotch Guard" the furniture, and he explained how their company "didn't trust" that product to be safe for their customers, but had a protection policy instead ... what the helllllllll! We now have a new couch. Austin ... if you ever decide to sell cars ...

So excited to find this store. We drove 45min to get here, and it was well worth it…read more The Detroit area has two kinds of furniture stores IMHO, those with cheap junk furniture and sales every weekend (you know the ones), and those that have quality furniture but obscenely exorbitant prices. Nothing in the middle! This store has quality, at what I would call reasonable prices for such quality. The showroom is beautiful with a great selection and comprehensive illustrative materials for reference. Sanjay and Sean know their suppliers, and are excited about the pieces they represent. The pride in their stock is obvious. And, they are very helpful with tips regarding additional brands they have access to. We came in for a bedroom suite recently, and were dealt with fairly and honestly. Delivery does indeed take a long time, but I've heard similar quotes while shopping at other stores during this crazy covid time. Many of their suppliers are amish and make the furniture on spec, so it makes sense. We can afford to wait, so no biggie. It's all probably going to mean we visit there again soon for our living room, too. If I remember, I'll update once we get delivery.

Furniture is overall well made. However, what they didn't tell us is that the items we ordered…read morewould not be delivered for up to two months. They say they order from a US company, but two months seems like something you are having shipped from the other side of the world. Staff acted like we were bothering them.

I respect her professionalism and the eloquence of her note, and therefore am submitting an edit to Yelp. My purpose in leaving the review(s) I wrote about the antiques shops/"malls" in this area was to save others the drive, the gas, the time, and the disappointment of this misrepresented area. My husband and I go antique-ing every weekend as we are avid collectors. I was an antiques dealer for many years in Grand Rapids, and find it misleading and disheartening when an area advertises itself as an antiques destination only to make a trip to the area and find mostly garage sale junk and one owner who told me the malls have to carry that because they can't survive selling true antiques (I would assert this isn't the case, and can provide a litany of true antiques malls in West Michigan). That being said, I have to applaud any antiques business owner in this area who strives to be a purist and supply true antiques to the area.

Not a lot of primitive furniture for sale which is what I usually hunt for. Friendly staff. There are several other shops behind this store but they are only open on weekends. I would regularly check this place out if I lived closer!
