They'd get five stars, but some of the items are a little costly and they seem to be slow to restock - I went in for a large sized round hole punch and they seemed to be out of a lot of hole punches.

My mother and I visited Michaels on Marketplace Blvd (Store #1590) in the evening on August 16. The…read morestore environment was in ideal shopping condition- clean, organized, displays kept presentable, and easy to navigate through. Had several workers even ask us if we needed any assistance. Extremely kind, upbeat, and positive. The entire experience in the store was about as average as any typical shopping experience would be at a huge retailer like Michaels- until we got to the register to make a return, and purchase what was in our cart. As the cashier was completing our purchase, my mother was confused as to an item being scanned multiple times and inquired whether or not there had been a mistake. My mother was hastily responded to, and assured without any explanation that it had been corrected- my mother was still confused as to what items were scanned onto our total, and if it was correct. The body language, demeanor, and tone of voice that was used in response to my mother still being confused was insulting, unprofessional, and simply uncalled for. It reflects extremely poorly on your Brand, who you have working behind registers, and the overall relationship you have with customers. If this employee was supposed to be exhibiting the Core Values listed on your companies website, she failed miserably. Values: "Make People Happy" - Definitely didn't make my mother happy, or any customers standing behind us in line. Or myself. I didn't even have a Yelp account, the experience really was that bad. "Keep it Simple" - Nothing is simple about being blown off when you're confused about where your hard earned money is going. "Innovate & Learn" - The experience definitely makes one believe your employees have no idea how to explain the most basic things to customers, and haven't been paying attention during the yearly training seminars they're required to go through. "Do the right thing" - Doing the right thing probably wasn't acting like your customers are complete morons and that you shouldn't have to repeat or further explain the answer to a question. "Have Fun" - Well, this didn't happen. One poorly trained employee can ruin the entire experience and mindset a customer has, and their feeling towards a brand. I know for a fact my mother will not be going back, and I know that quite a few individuals who are very involved in arts and crafts won't be going back either.

I'm not sure about the "gifts", but this is the only place I know of in the Lansing area where you…read morecan buy fired ceramic figurines, mugs, and plates. This isn't one of those "paint the glaze, and we'll fire it" places so much as a place where you can buy fired pieces that are then painted with acrylic paints and used decoratively. The prices aren't too bad (generally $6-$20 for figurines that are 4" - 10" tall), but they don't take credit cards, and they close early (5pm, I think) most evenings. They'll tell you they're open later on Thursdays if you talk to them, but the later hours aren't posted on the door (it says they close on 5pm Thursdays as well). They've supplied me with Disney figurines, lizards, horses, fish, and other oddball things that I've given the kids in my life to paint (just use inexpensive acrylic paints from Michael's or Hobby Lobby, and cover it with a matte spray finish when it's dry), and they've had a ton of fun with them.

It's a maze of every second hand treasure you could think of. My favorite was looking at all the vintage clothing. So many gorgeous sweaters- even 100% wool. I found the clothing prices to be a bit steep for secondhand, but most were quality materials so I get it. Didn't find anything to purchase this time, but if you like to window shop like me, then this is still the place for you!
