A few years ago I gave this Meijers a scathingly negative review. The place had just gone downhill at about the time of the Covid pandemic. I am pleased to report that there has been significant improvement in the management of this store over the past year or so. The shelves are reasonably full, the product selection has improved although not as great as it was ten years ago (I believe that this may reflect overall trends in food retailing where manufacturers are scaling back on the variety of their offerings,) the Meijer store brands have improved in quality and selection and the produce, deli and meat departments are better than just a couple of years ago. I have shopped at several other Meijer stores and really like all of them but this one. They have massive out of stock issues. I know it is a college town, but even in the summer they can be out of stock of many items. Most days it looks like locusts have hit, especially anything on sale. Entire shelves can be empt. I like this Meijer. It's the one closest to my house and convenient if I need something after hours (I have a tendency to want to bake late at night). They have a great grocery section as well as a nice selection of Wilton cake decorating supplies for last minute bursts of inspiration. Housewares are also great as are seasonal selections. I've bought everything from fertilizer and grass seeds to travel beach chairs, to Christmas trees, solar lights, and lawn and garden ornaments here. Gas station is also one of the more affordable in the area. Self-checkout is a little annoying and late at night that's kind of the only option, but it's always staffed and relatively easy to use. read more

I have never seen a Meijer as bad as this. Aside from the usual poor floor plan that all Meijers use, this store has empty shelves and people doing all the wrong things. They aren't short staffed but they have people breaking down boxes while the lines are backed up into the store. There were only two carts available because they have people on tasks other than going to the cart corrals. I got the next to last one. I ended up not needing it because they were out of the main thing I came to the store for. The scan & go is useless because they have three units and they don't reserve them for scan & go. One had an alleged printer paper jam. The second was in use by a person who had a cart full of stuff and was scanning it. The other had a person who had a cart of stuff and wanted to use a coupon that wasn't for her products. The employee wandered off with the coupon and the full cart person's unit then had an error. I left my cart in the line at this point. I had already scanned my two items and just needed to pay. I couldn't even get the cart out of the line because they've decided to add merchandise so you can't leave unless the people in front of you leave. This is just a hot mess. read more

Seems to be not as well stocked as the store on Ann Arbor-Saline Road. Slushy machine broken. Pony ride broken! It's like all the joy has been sucked out of this store. Maybe it would explain the HORRIBLE customer service interaction. Went to the bakery department. Was looking for some specific baked goods. An employee walked by, in one of those surgical bouffant hats to keep hair out and a uniform (so I assume they're a bakery or deli employee), and I asked, "Excuse me, do you have any donuts left?" He looks at me with some sort of indescribably weird facial expression and then walks away!!! Didn't say one word. WTF??? Figured I would not do the self-checkout thing. Got in line. Cashier moving very slowly. It's very apparent she's not thrilled to be working there. Not hostile but completely indifferent. So, I kept hearing how great this Meijer was, and my thought was -- "What's so great? How could it really be that different from any other?" I finally went this last week to see it -- post re-model, and I have to say, I was indeed a bit impressed. Since moving recently, this location's probably about equal distance from us as the Ann Arbor-Saline Road Meijer, but I may gravitate a little more toward this location now. Why? 1) Bottle return near the front, in a separate section? Good call! 2) Maybe it's just the layout, but the produce section seems ginormous. It honestly seems to have more produce and then the other locations. Is it an illusion? Only repeat visits on the hunt for fresh goods will tell! 3) Though I'm not one to hit up Meijer for clothing, I actually spotted some t-shirts and basics that seemed pretty decent. 4) Everything still seems sparkly and new from the re-model... let's hope they can keep it up! 5) As Stever mentioned -- plenty of U-Scan lines, so you don't end up stuck behind the person who's decided to use it for 30 items and is thoroughly confused! read more

My most important items are produce (for me) and pasta (for hubby and toddler) and formula (obviously for the little baby). Everything else is just gravy. I love the super fresh produce. I was told that meijer does a taste test when the trucks bring the fruits and whatever they don't like gets sent back where it came from. Out cold. Throughout the store you will find a more than just a store brand version of wonderful products. You will see "meijer basic", "meijer gold" and "meijer organic". It's kind of fantastic. On top of all the groceries I need, they have all the household things I need (and then some) on the other side of the store. Here's the cherry on top of the cake. When you go to check out, they have a normal sized (not 12 items or less) self check out. Conveyer belt and all. You don't have to deal with a single person if you don't want to! ... They've lost another long-time customer due to inept pick-up service. This is about the 5th time something has gone wrong and I'm finally at the point that I will do without than try Meijer again. In this instance it's the Ann Arbor-Saline Rd. and the Jackson Rd. locations. For the pick up today the person who brought the groceries out read all of the substitutions as things that were unavailable. I made an extra stop based on that information only to discover when I got home that I had the item to begin with. Yes, I could have looked but it seems unrealistic to think I am going to double check what I have been told. It is a service after all. In addition I was told something was in-stock when in fact it was an unacceptable substitution. When I phoned to correct the problem I was told I'd either have to come back in or call a central customer service number. Adding inconvenience to an error isn't good service. Save yourself a hassle and place your pick-up orders at the Maple Road Kroger. The wait for a slot is long because people know it's the best option in town. I am writing because I am so upset about an experience I had today at the checkout today. I had pushed my cart into line behind a man who had his 4 candles on the belt and after a couple minutes he turned around and very rudely said to me something like "You're going to have to move, my wife is behind you." I looked back and the woman had a cart loaded down. I had already put a couple things on the belt and he started to move my things off and put them back into my cart. I put them back and then he moved himself 6 inches from me in an intimidating way. (I am 5'2" and he towered over me) He got louder and louder in telling to move. So the "managers" came over telling ME to move to the next line and I refused. I told him and them that he was a bully and if I DID move, I would never come back to the store again. This went on for 5 minutes and others in line were cross at the man and they started commenting to the man. I was very embarrassed and felt unsafe and angry that this threatening man was dealt with like this. FINALLY someone moved his things to the next register. I then felt so unsafe that I went to the service desk to ask if someone could walk me to my car. These "managers" handled this entire situation wrong and I will never ever shop there again. I'm fact I will drive out of my way to go to Kroger because of the managers supporting a bully who was loud and harassing. read more

One cashier open that was lined up quite far. Self checkout had two cashiers. An elderly man asked for help with produce. Alissa W. said she could tell him how to do it, but not do it for him. She could have weighed the produce in less time than it took to explain to him why she wouldn't help him. I get short staffed, however this was pure lack of customer service. The parking lot annoying because it's usually packed. They have most of the products that you expect. The wine department is just okay. In the Chardonnay section they have low-end wine, but not much nicer wine. For example they have below $15 bottles covered, but then when you want something better, you're looking at $50 bottles. Kinda a bummer, as I was looking for a gift and wanted to spend in the $30 range. Ah well, I'll know not to go here again for Chardonnay. There are three Meijer's within five mile radish of my house. I typically go to the one on Ann Arbor-Saline Road, just because it's only two minutes from my house. In trying to avoid the traffic coming from downtown Ann Arbor today, I opted to go to this Meijer. For starters, the front exterior design is different than other Meijers within greater Ann Arbor area... I also like the fact that the layouts are different, it's cleaner, bright, open and overall lot better. Even though the drive is little further, I'm thinking that I'll start going here instead of the A2-Saline drive store. read more

Since this Meijer changed the whole store, they got rid of some things that I relied on them having, but for the most part, I prefer this place. They get a lot of business and I understand that things run out on the shelves and I feel bad when I have to keep asking the stocker-guys to see if they can get some X from the back. I almost expect them to bite my head off or at least roll their eyes, but they don't. They see what they can do and try and usually come back with what I ask for. I am not just speaking of one person, but of a few people on a few different visits. I really value you Meijer for that kind of customer service. I do wish they had the expanded selection of ethnic foods as found in the Meijer off Ann Arbor Saline Rd. I don't like that store and one trip to one store would be nicer than two. read more

The employees here are great people and I feel so bad for them having to work at this store. Something has changed in the last few years, especially in the produce department. I have purchased numerous fruit items only to find them with patches of mold when breakfast rolls around. There will always be a rotten specimen in your bag of citrus or potatoes. The long lines are ridiculous and getting worse. I have never seen more than 1/3 of the lanes open. A new manager named Deniz actually closed down the customer service counter and kept it closed while we were in line due to overcharges for over 20 minutes! The next day she refused to honor a $5 bonus that should have printed at the register for a promotion I received in the mail. She was rude and inaccurate. This location is frequently in poor condition. Starting with the bottle return machines being full to the milk counter being empty. Then, you may end up abandoning your cart when you get to the front to check out due to long lines and not enough registers being open. For this store only, I look at the checkout line before I shop. At least a couple of times, I have decided to just go across the street to cvs to get what I really need and shop later. I like the chain, just not this particular location. This store provides minimal needs. Bottle return area is filthy. No jewelry counter and toy selection is limited. Food is acceptable but must check dates on many items. I've purchased current dated milk to have it go bad within days. Staff not very friendly but do their job. My card never made it home and I am on hold now waiting to get a call thru to see if it was found in the store. I have not used it since that day - could not find it. I'm not the biggest fan of the "superstore" concept, and I'm not the biggest fan of Meijer in general. My mother has been dragging me to this place ever since it was "Meijer's Thrifty Acres," and once it went "24 hour superstore" in the 90s, she'd pull me out of bed at 5am on weekends to do a massive crowd-free grocery shopping. In college, she'd take me to get groceries at the Ann Arbor/Saline Rd Meijer, where all the prices seem to be gouged to exploit parents/students. Needless to say, I've been over Meijer for a long time and never went unless I got dragged by someone else. I went to this Jackson Rd location a couple times while they were renovating, and it was a big pain in the butt to find anything in the store. Welp, this location is now done with the remodeling, and what can I say, I LOVE THIS STORE! Top 10 Reasons that make this Meijer complete superstore awesomeness: 1 - The bottle return entrance is outside in the front of the store. Which means it doesn't stink like stale beer that makes you want to vomit (I'm lookin' at you, Kroger bottle return.) 2 - The aisles are so wide that even the inevitably crowded "Baby Boomers take wheelchair-bound parents shopping Saturday" didn't make me claustrophobic! 3 - The produce is affordable and the selection is impressive. 4 - The "Meijer Healthy Living" organic/natural foods aren't ghettoized into one section, but can be found at the end of every aisle, making it much easier to do price comps. 5 - The staff are generally helpful if you ask where something is located. 6 - Lots of You-Scan, and lines are always fast. (Warning: reasons 7-10 all have to do with alcohol) 7 - While I'm not a big wine drinker, their selection is larger than any Meijer I've seen, and really nicely organized. 8 - There are four beer aisles, both refrigerated and not. They have the typical crap, but also lots of Michigan microbrews for an affordable price. 9 - The liquor aisle is huge, both sides of the aisle 10 - There is a VIRTUAL BARTENDER. It's a touch screen where you can choose your poison, and then choose from an alphabetical list of drinks. A video pops up and a bartender gives you a demonstration on how to make the drink. Then it prints out the recipe for you! Brilliant from a sales perspective, and brilliant as my new BFF. So not only is the grocery section of Jackson Rd Meijer excellent, but I think it gets my vote for "best place to get liquor/beer in Ann Arbor area." read more

This is THE best Meijer in the A2 area. It's worth the extra drive to go all the way over to the western edge of Ann Arbor. The place is always clean and the people who work there polite and friendly. I've met at least one of the managers (if not the senior manager) who has made a point to say hello and make sure all was well. One big thing that testifies to how good this store is: They had a major store overhaul and remodeling (to try to keep up with Whole Foods & Plum Market, I believe) and all the while they kept the store clean and easy to navigate. They kept up-to-date signs on where things were moved and always had people available, especially at the doors, to help you find where you needed to go. The produce isn't quite at the WF level but then again you're not paying WF produce prices. You're still going to get very good stuff for a reasonable price. They've got an excellent selection of foods and a decent selection of household items. They did remove a few sections since the remodel -- I can't remember which but I do remember thinking that since the place feels a little less like a Wallyworld. They expanded and added to their cheese section, deli and bakery. It's worth the extra distance if you can. read more

It's Meijer. A one-stop 24-hour super store with lower prices on many things and lots of things missing. So if you have a huge family to feed and cloth on the cheap then this is probably a great place. But if you're a single guy who want's to pick up a few odds and ends then Meijer kinda sucks. The only specific complaint I have is that some idiot put the fragrance-free toiletry products in a separate section from the other toiletries and with the "foo bullshit" body products which are loaded with perfumes (which I'm allergic too and why I'm buying "sensitive skin" and "fragrance free" stuff to being with). Morons! Other than that it's the same stale mass commercialism bullshit as everywhere else. Odwala drinks...half of those on the shelf were expired already. Naked drinks...not offered. Where are they? In produce of course. Who would look for juice in the juice section? But it is convenient and it is cheaper than other places so for paper towels and toiletries and stuff like that it's good enough. Even better with Heelys. read more

This Meijer is for people who like to eat, not cook! Located in a faux village facade, it's more cozy than most. The aisles are shorter and wider. Lots of prepared food in front, a very small clothing section. Register lines are shorter, too, but what's even better is that the staff seem happier than the staff at Kroger's. And the prices are the same as at more modest Meijer stores! read more

This is quite possibly the best Meijer I've ever been to in my short time in the midwest (3 years, 10+ Meijers). (stop reading here if you're grossed out by obscure meat products) Know how I was complaining about not finding raw pork belly before? They have it here. Femur bones for roasted bone marrow? They have it here - vacuum packed. Plus, they carry different varieties of products (like newer kinds of Jell-O pudding) that the other Meijers don't. That's right - I have the weirdest culinary preferences ever. And the Jackson Meijer feeds right into it like giving babies dirty keys to put in their mouths. read more

Produce seems to only last a couple days. Pay extra and go to Plum Market. Staff always stocking shelves during busiest times, causing very slow shopping. Isles always full of carts and products. Nothing screams quality like a bottle return where 1 machine is off, 1 is out of order, 1 only takes 3 cans at a time, and the other 2 are full. The checkout situation is also quite dire. Out of 20 aisles you'll be lucky if there are 2 actual people working, and whomever decided those self-checkout stations were the way to go was an idiot. Very entertaining watching an employee have to blow in to the bottle slip/coupon slot for each of the 15 slips you got at the machine that only took 3 cans at a time. I usually go to the Ann Arbor Saline Rd or Carpenter Rd locations, but this place has the best garden center of the Ann Arbor Meijer locations. So I head there in the spring for sure. You can get roses and other perennial shrubs. Just be sure to get them soon after they arrive at the store. Veggie & herb plants arrive in time for spring planting. Nice selection of annual flowers like petunias, impatiens, etc. I have a hard time not trying to buy everything in the produce section. It's fresh, and the prices are great. The Health & Beauty section has nearly everything I could want to make myself feel healthy & beautiful. read more

I know it sad but this store is an every day stop for me. This is our go to store when we need basically anything. The pharmacy is great! I like that they have late hours and make filling prescriptions super easy. They've even started an auto fill on prescriptions like vitamins and other regularly needed medications which is nice because the customer doesn't have to do anything other than pick it up. The pharmacist here really enjoys his job and is super friendly and helpful. I have a toddler and often have questions when sickness arises. He's eager to get answers and comes right out onto the floor to help get the correct medication needed. The general merchandise here is great. It's rare that we don't find what we need and often at lower prices than other places. They have everything here. The store is always clean and kept up nice. Things are easy to find. The grocery is well organized and they have all of our favorite brands. The vegan/vegetarian section has a great variety and yummy brands that we love as we do not eat meat. The fresh produce is very often fresh and enjoyable. There have been a couple of times when I've wondered but mostly we have been satisfied. In this area I definitely recommend supporting local farmers, which we do, but we enjoy Meijer produce for fill in items. The prices here on produce are great too. Other local grocery chains are more expensive for things like strawberries and avocados and many other things. Lastly, my favorite, the garden center. I have been impressed this year with their selection and prices out there. I've gotten flowers and shrubs from local nurseries and spent a lot of money on landscaping items. I went to Meijer to get a few annuals, the selection was great and I spent way less than I thought I would. Great store, great staff. We enjoy visiting this Meijer every day ;). read more
