My friends and I visit Mei Mei's for lunch at least twice a month if not more. The food is always fresh, hot, and more importantly good. I recommend Mei Mei's to anyone who enjoys Chinese food. Personal favorites are the lunch specials number 2 (chow mien, fried rice, chicken in foil, sweat sour pork), the number 3 (chow mien, fried rice, sesame chicken, 2 egg rolls) and the number 4 (chow mien, fried rice, fried shrimp, sweat sour pork). I find their prices very reasonable especially when you take in the amount of food your getting. On a side note, I love their pot stickers. read more

My husband and I tried Mei Mei's for an early dinner. The food is fresh and hot. My husband gets the house pan fried noodles, the vegtables are plentiful, the broccoli is always crisp and the food is tasty. We have enjoyed the war won-ton soup, lemon chicken, sweet and sour chicken, sweet and sour shrimp, bbq pork and cream cheese wontons. The food is always consistant. The sauces are a little sweet but for the price, its a nice place to eat. The service is always friendly and our order has always come out in a reasonable time. read more

We've now traveled to nearby Patterson to experience Mei Mei's cuisine 7-8 times, and the only reason I can't give them 5 stars is one off the menu dish completely botched on one occasion several months ago. Aside from that one experience, the food has been phenomenal. Last night, it was hot and sour soup, beef with snow peas and water chestnuts, and lemon fish filet. I want to emphasize the fish dish because we ordered off menu for that one, and it was exceptional. The service has always been friendly and professional, and the portions of food served are large. At times, we've had to wait awhile for our food, but considering how busy they've been on those occasions, and how good the food is, the time waited is fully acceptable. By the way, a 5% discount is offered for paying with cash as opposed to credit card. Plus, if your visit is for lunch, they have a wide variety of very economical luncheon specials. I challenge the reader to find better Chinese (whether Szechuan, Hunan, Mandarin, or Cantonese) anywhere on the Westside from Tracy to Los Banos. read more

We noticed Mei Mei's from the road as we passed and we decided to give it a try. The service was good; we were greeted with eye contact and a smile, and handled with care. We got our food to go, and it smelled delicious on the drive home which sweetened the anticipation. Once we got home and opened everything up we were satisfied with what we found. The serving sizes were good, there could have been a better meat to vegetable ratio, but the flavors were decent, especially for this area where most of the Chinese food we've tried is very watered down. We got spicy dishes, and were satisfied with the level of heat, since normally it's not quite hot enough for us from most places. The decor is pleasant too, and it was very clean, so we might go back eventuality to dine in. Overall, this was a good experience. read more

So I have been to this restaurant several times in the past and the food here was okay. My visiting family wanted to go to Chinese food. It was either Panda Express or this place. I haven't been here for a few months but today I did come back with Mom, Dad, and Nephew. Firstly, I noticed how busy they are for lunch and the change of staff. We ordered combo fried rice, combo chowmein, salt and pepper fish, lemon chicken, and braised tofu with veggies. Wow! The taste improvement on food surprised me. My father is picky when it comes to Chinese food and he enjoyed his food a lot. Rice & noodles were tasty. Fish was crunchy and fresh. Lemon chicken was good, I appreciated they served the lemon sauce on the side, so that my batter are crunchy vs. soggy...and I prefer my lemon chicken with drizzle of the sauce vs. all over the dish. I finally asked the server if there was a new owner and/or chef ... and she stated both and it had been a month ago. Thank you for finally having a good Chinese food. Coming from the Bay Area, I know when there is a good Chinese food and so far I am happy with the current new owner and chef. I will be back soon. Wishing now for some decent Dim Sum. read more

Cleanliness is not really on the priority of things. Ordered a few Togo items, chow main, fried rice, and salted pepper pork. Gotten home and Either the chow main or fried rice. So disappointed, Everting taste stale and dried . Also we found a lot of egg shells in fried rice . The sweet and sour pork doesn't come with the pineapple like it used to be . AVOID this place. Calamari was hard and tough and largely deep fried, pretty sure was frozen. Lemon chicken pretty sure was frozen prior too. Chicken chow mien slopped together no effort in mixing the ingredients all piled up was next to impossible to plate without making a huge mess. Wife wanted to try shrimp fu young and was told by waiter that it was basically vegetables , egg, and shrimp. Plate came out with this very heavy looking gravy sauce that wasn't told to her and also was told it was bread instead of egg. Then the waiter didn't know the item too well and got the cook/owner who didn't speak English and stood over the table pretty much pressuring my wife to accept it so it wouldn't be wasted. My wife couldn't finish barely a part of it. It honestly looked like PIG SLOP in a dish no joke. The picture I post are the actual food AFTER we were finished with it not before! Also bathroom was disgustingly dirty on the floor my shoes were sticking with every step. I just wanted to get out of there as it felt like total regret. I was told this place wasn't good by someone else but we wanted to give it a try. BIG mistake. Never again. The female hostess tried to help and apologize but it wasn't her fault. Very good food and so much to choose from. We both ordered the dinner plates that came with a choice of fried rice or chow mein and two egg rolls and also got the shrimp wonton soup. The food is fresh, great spices and huge proportions. Even better when the bill came and it was such a reasonable price. Since new owners I hate the food. Tried the eggplant with garlic sauce and it was horrible. I used to get it all the time. My family loves Chinese cuisine, we use to order at least once a week for dinner. Now, we just wait till we are in the Stockton area and go to Canton Garden on country club exit. Mei Mei's is somewhere more like 2.5 stars, but I didn't think they quite deserved a 2 star review, hence my rounding up. It's American styled Chinese food. There's breading in dishes that don't really need it and more sugar in the sauces than I'd personally enjoy. However, it is affordable, fast and fresh. I prefer Li Xu's quality and authenticity for take-away, or Mandarin House's fine service. Mei Mei's will also do in a pinch, when my co-workers prefer to dine there. read more

But I just have to say I ordered the Szechuan Beef with steamed rice and it was one of the worst things I have ever tasted in my life!! Ranking up there with Stinky Tofu and Thousand Year Old Eggs. The beef was battered with some raw goopy mess and was drowned in a brown syrupee sauce that almost tasted like molded pancake syrup!! Just don't go. Even if you've been before and you think "this couldn't be that bad" I say from experience that past means nothing. With my cramping GI tract and second trip to the bathroom behind me I can say it certainly can be that bad. Food was bad and service horrendous. The new, hand-written Help Wanted sign should say Help Needed. Sat down at sticky table and waited. Server finally came over without anything to write down our order. Which would have been fine if she actually paid attention to our order. When we were done giving the order she said she then would need to go get something to write the order down and she would "come back and check it" with us. She got two of the items and missed everything else. I've gone to this place before and let me tell you it has gone downhill. Our food took quite a while and didn't come out until after tables that ordered after us. The food was maybe a two overall at best what came out. Food was missing. I had to tell her what was missing-- I guess repeating the order twice wasn't enough. One dish didn't show up. I asked again. We waited then asked the other server. Was told is was coming but, no. She had the check and when I asked about the other dish she said "oh I didn't know you still wanted that?" At the same time she had in her hand the check CHARGING us for that dish. I feel the need to mention that there were maybe three tables eating. When the server finally did apologize for all of the errors she made a point of saying that they don't look very busy but they do a lot of takeout. I'm sorry but that's not really an excuse I buy. We did ask for a manager or the owner to talk to but she said there was no one there who could talk to us. Adding the now gastric distress and I say shame on the owners of this establishment. By the way this is the only negative review I have ever written. I feel that strongly about how poorly this restaurant did. read more

My family and I moved from the bay area to patterson and I can honestly say that Mei Mei is very good. They make your food to order and is very delicious. We have tried a few things from the menu like the mussels in garlic sauce, house chow fun, chow main, fried rice etc and have never been disappointed. This place is decent! I come from the Bay and we've had plenty of good chinese from Fremont to Oakland Chinatown. Place is pretty good w decent servings. Honey walnut prawns, mongolian beef, dried fried ribs... Delish!!! Chow meins good too. They deliver to Diablo Grande which is a plus for me. Few restaurants that deliver come to this side of Patterson. Staff friendly. I'd give a 3.5 but not an option. Love this place tho! read more

It is a great place for a good Chinese meal. No it is not as good as you might get in San Francisco but it holds it's own with many places I have eaten at in the city.
