Came here for a wedding party as the groom n bride had booked this place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is actually huge because they have multiple rooms to book so there can be multiple events happening at the same time + have the main restaurant operational.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My family was pleasantly surprised by the service! Everyone was so nice and attentive and friendly. Very big plus in my book. The food was also great which was almost like a buffet style with plenty of options to choose from. From someone who eats Indian food atleast once a month, the food they provide here is very good! Adding some pictures below of the options that were provided. This place overall is great for large parties with Indian food catering.

My wife and I heard about this restaurant from close friends. Was traveling through Fremont and decided to give it a try. We happened to arrive on the same day they had just finished an event and started another as this restaurant also caters. The staff here are super friendly and were patient in explaining their menu and options for the buffet. We choice to order from the menu. I loved the chicken kebab. It was so juicy and flavorful. Also the saag panner was amazing as well. The cheese was not as strong as other places. The lamb curry was a let down as it had more bones than meet. Waitress complemented us with chi to go. Overall was a great time and food was very good.

This was such an amazing experience. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They explained the menu a well and suggested many popular dishes! We ordered meat, rice, and vegetarian options and they were all delicious. I would definitely recommend coming here for some bomb Pakistani food!

This buffet was very good. Better than the Mehran in Pittsburg even. It was crowded and busy with tables full and a banquet going on in the side room. Chicken biriyani was tender and not dry but fluffy rice. Pya( beef feet- all meats halal) was excellent and my husband loved it! The naan was so fluffy and thick! This is the best naan I have had bc I like it fluffy! Chole was on point. The beef nihari was tender beef falling apart and very good. My husband's family all experts in the cuisine all said the food was very good! Spinach with aloo was delicious and aloo achar which I never had was good too. That had a distinctive flavor profile to it- kind of pickled tiny bit sour but good. Butter chicken very rich and yummy. What I REALLY liked was halva which was yellow in color with almonds ( or is said Suji on index card in front of it) which is a sweet dessert( like cream of wheat texture). I make it at home even and I'm not fond of sweets but this was buttery and very tasty! Along with kheer ( rice pudding but really ground up)- like I said, I'm not into desserts or sweets usually ( I like fried or savory), but these were sooo good I could have been happy just eating those two dishes alone lol! They also served poori( fried crispy kind of paratha) with the suji and I even ate it with the kheer rice pudding! Served with nice hot chai tea! I haven't had a good buffet especially after Covid for a long time or even good food really in a restaurant after, so this is good decent food! Like I went away thinking for 20.00 this was finally worth it!

The restaurant was very busy, which likely explains why the service felt a little lacking. The ordering system wasn't my favorite. It felt rushed and not very inviting, almost like a cafeteria or galley-style experience rather than a sit-down restaurant. I was also surprised that no one asked about our preferred spice level. Even with those shortcomings, the quality of the food more than made up for it, and I'd still come back for another meal.

The delicious marinated meat, curry, garlic naan and .... daal. And this from a guy who doesn't usually like daal. At least not OTHER people's daal, this was excellent. I ordered too much food expecting to take a bunch home. We ate it all. The service isn't much-Order at the cashier, take the puck, pick up the food at the pass through counter when the puck buzzes. Get your own water, napkins, and table service near the counter. The building looks like an old burger barn with light remodeling and paint work. It can get crowded with Pakwan's regulars so stake out a table when you arrive. Good news is you are here for the food and that's top notch, authentic North Indian Pakistani food. Enjoy. TRIGGER WARNING -- SERIOUS PRIVACY VIOLATION…read more 1 star because 0 stars isn't an option. My first time dining at Zareen's was an absolute nightmare, and I am still incredibly upset about how this situation was handled. While I was actively using the restroom, I had locked the door from the inside using the lock provided. Despite the door being locked, a male employee opened the door and walked in on me. I was completely caught off guard and immediately had to cover myself and protect my privacy. There was also a large line of people waiting outside the restroom, making an already humiliating situation even more uncomfortable. I immediately went to speak with the manager because I was shaken and wanted the incident taken seriously. Instead of asking if I was okay or showing any genuine concern, his response was essentially that I may not have locked the door correctly or that there could have been something wrong with the lock. Seriously? Regardless of whether the lock malfunctioned, I was the person who was violated and humiliated in that moment. The first response should have been empathy and concern for the customer -- not implying that I was responsible for what happened. What made this even worse was the complete lack of accountability. The manager didn't even ask me who the employee was so he could address the incident. He didn't explain what would be done to prevent it from happening again. The employee who walked in never apologized or acknowledged what happened. And then, as if nothing had happened, a waiter came over almost immediately and asked my group to place our food order. I hadn't even had a chance to process what had just happened to me. A few minutes after placing our order, the waiter came back with another family and asked us to move tables because they needed our table. We agreed, despite the awkwardness of having the family standing there looking at us. Then our samosas -- which we ordered as an appetizer -- never even arrived. At that point, I had completely lost my appetite. What bothers me most isn't simply that there may have been a faulty restroom lock. Mistakes and equipment failures can happen. It's how a business responds to them that matters. And Zareen's response was incredibly disappointing. I expected empathy. I expected accountability. I expected someone to ask, "Are you okay?" I expected the employee involved to at least apologize. I expected management to take the situation seriously and reassure me that it would be addressed. Instead, I felt dismissed and blamed, and then expected to simply sit down and continue my dining experience as though nothing had happened. I cannot honestly review the food because this experience completely ruined my appetite and overshadowed everything else. This was my first time dining in at Zareen's, and it will absolutely be my last. A restaurant should be a place where customers feel comfortable and safe. After what happened and the way management handled it, I would not feel comfortable returning.

There was plenty of outdoor seating, and the service was speedy. You order on a kiosk, which makes for a streamlined ordering process. The food is always solid - I love all of their thali selections. This location was much more peaceful compared to the Palo Alto location. I stopped by on a Saturday evening, and there were only a couple tables that were occupied. I will say I feel like the portion sizes here are noticeably smaller than those at the Palo Alto location. This might be because all of the orders are packed to-go, so maybe there's less space for food? For instance, the thali from the Palo Alto location includes a side salad, which was not included in my order here. The other sides (pickled salad and daal lentil), along with the entree, were also significantly smaller here. The prices are the same, so I do think the Palo Alto dishes are more worth it.

I love the grilled chicken legs - they look like Indian tandoori chicken but tastes better. They also have other Northern Indian/Pakistan favs like lamb (or mutton) curry, lamb brain and so on, but the one thing I keep coming back for are the chicken legs. The naan here is much thicker and fuller than other places so order saucy items soak up the gravy with the thicker naan. This is a self-serve establishment, so diners need to get what they need - plates, utensils, napkins etc. Be sure to get their bottomless chai and the fresh sliced onion, chili peppers and flavor them with the fresh lemon juice and red pepper. You also don't have to pay for tips unless you want to. Lunch time can get busy but the food does not take long from order to table. According to Google, Shalimar has a location in Dublin and in the Loins on Jones in SF.

My family and I, two adults and two young children, came here during Ramadan for iftaar. Before arriving, I specifically called ahead to ask whether we needed to come early because I understood restaurants can become very busy during iftaar time. I was told that arriving 10 to 15 minutes before iftaar would be perfectly fine and that our food would be ready around the time of breaking fast. Based on that reassurance, we came about 20 minutes before iftaar expecting a smooth experience. Instead, the moment we walked in, it felt like we were invisible. The restaurant was crowded but not chaotic. We sat down and waited while servers walked past us repeatedly without acknowledging us. Eventually, I had to flag someone down myself just to place an order. I even asked directly how long the food would take because we were fasting all day and had two small children with us. The server confidently assured us the food would arrive around iftaar time. That never happened. When iftaar finally arrived, all we received were dates and water. No appetizers, no main dishes, nothing. We continued waiting while table after table around us received their food. Meanwhile, our children became increasingly upset and hungry. Anyone with young kids knows that after a full day of fasting, asking them to wait another 20, 30, even 50 minutes is nearly impossible. Our kids were crying, exhausted, and confused as they watched other families eat while we sat there with empty plates. What made the situation worse was the complete lack of honesty and accountability. Every time we asked about our order, we were told, "It's coming soon." Then eventually the server disappeared entirely for nearly 20 minutes and avoided us altogether. A woman later approached us, but instead of apologizing or taking our concerns seriously, she became dismissive and defensive. By this point, nearly 50 minutes had passed since we ordered, and she still insisted we "shouldn't complain" (in Farsi) because the food would come "soon." That response was honestly more upsetting than the delay itself. A simple apology, honesty, or basic compassion toward a fasting family with small children would have gone a long way. We eventually left the restaurant feeling humiliated, disrespected, and deeply disappointed. What saddened me most is that this happened during Ramadan, a month centered around patience, generosity, hospitality, and good character. In Afghan culture and Islamic ethics, guests are supposed to be treated with dignity and care, especially during iftaar. Halal is not only about the food being permissible. Halal is also about honesty, fairness, respect, and how people are treated. Sadly, this restaurant failed in all of those areas. We will never return, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for respectful service or a welcoming family environment.
