My friend put me on to this spot and l'm not sure if it was because I haven't had Indian food in a while, I was hungry, or I was craving it, but it was VERY delicious and could easily be one of my favorite places. To get a baseline of whether the place is good, I usually order Chicken Tikka Masala - if you mess that up, I can't trust anything else. You can get white basmati rice on the side for only $1.99 more, but I wanted garlic naan which was $4.99. We ordered on the phone and were told 20 minutes. They do have a dining room inside, but the tables are a bit awkward since the bench is too far from the table (it discouraged us from eating there). We arrived 20 minutes later, and the food was ready just in time. It stayed warm on the ride home and was the perfect eating temperature after 15 minutes when we actually got around to eating it. I noticed that the curry was a bit greasy, but it's easy to move it out of the way. The container looked small (small round black to go container), but it did bring a lot. My friend and I agreed that the onions could have been chopped a little smaller, or cooked for a little longer to make them soft rather than crunchy. The flavors were perfect. We picked mild for our spice level, but regret not going up to medium because it was not spicy at all. The naan could have used a little more garlic but it was still very good as it was soft and buttery. I will definitely be coming back to try other items. Got the chicken dum biryani and the chicken sukka here. The biryani was excellent--the rice was flavorful, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The chicken sukka was just as good, packed with flavor and cooked really well. Also got the paneer butter masala which was alright, a bit sweet. Went for lunch...they were offering a special "Thali Goat" ...An Indian thali comprises - main-course gravy, dal or curry, sabzi or stir fry, condiments like raita, chutney, pickle, salad, papadum, and side dishes like roti, naan, chapati, paratha, or rice-- all served on a cool multi-section platter or tray. The pictures are a lie when it comes to the portions you get when you pay beyond top dollar. I paid 100 dollars for 2 buttered chickens. A veggie curry and chicken nuggets with some naan and a bread basket all with their own rice. The chicken nuggets were the only portioned for what you paid item. All the curries came in small as all heck soup containers with barely enough for a nearly 20 dollar item. And the rice came in 2 containers share style despite each ordering separately. Last night we stopped at Mehfil just before closing. They were actually celebrating a family birthday party, and the sign said "takeout only," but they still welcomed us in with our two kids and treated us like we were part of the family. I've eaten a lot of Indian food over the years and have even made it myself, but this was hands down the best I've ever had. Every dish was incredibly fresh, and you could actually taste each individual spice without anything being overpowering. The flavors were amazing. The hospitality was just as memorable as the food. Great people, great service, and incredible food. If you're anywhere nearby, you have to give this place a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

This was my first time here. Service was fast and they also gave us a complimentary mango lassi on our first visit! We ordered samosas, cheese naan, malai chicken boti and rasmalai for dessert. Samosas and malai chicken were yum! Cheese naan needed a bit more salt but was hot and cheesy. The food was really good overall and well cooked. I liked that the rasmalai was creamy and didn't feel like someone just warmed up the frozen one as most restaurants do! This was my first time here, and the food, service, and ambiance were all top notch! Very nice decor. I had a last minute request for mango lassi during a day of errands, and decided to try here after looking on Yelp. In the future, I would definitely just call in to order, and/or eat in-- a much better way. The employee was very kind and I was given a sample size lassi while I waited. The lassis were amazing, of course. I also had butter paneer (perfect portion, paneer to curry ratio, and spice), with basmati rice (also comped, as it was my first visit and I initially ordered thru Yelp-- ), and paneer naan (two - HUGE and soft & chewy!) I'm soo happy that we finally got an Indian place in Woonsocket. Before I would drive 30 minutes to get Indian. This spot is better than the others I've had. 100% authentic. I like the chicken tiki masala because it has onions and peppers in it. Yes you have to pay $2 for rice but their prices are still cheaper than other places that include the rice. Veg samosas and garlic naan is amazing. Butter chicken is also good. I'm looking forward to trying other dishes. Everyone is very friendly and they offer online ordering. Very cute inside. read more

We tried Mehfil tonight because the two previous restaurants we tried to go to were booked. However, my partner and I both love Indian food so we were happy to give it a shot. I'm very glad that those other places were full! While the ambiance was nothing to write home about, the service and food were top notch. Our server was very kind and attentive without being overbearing. I had the salmon tikka masala which had an amazing portion and great flavors. I also loved the addition of onion and peppers as well. The rice was at an extra charge and rather bland (it could have used some cardamom and vegetables) but had a nice portion. Meanwhile the garlic naan was also excellent- crispy on the bottom and soft on the top. For only $40 for two entrees, rice, and naan I thought it was a great deal as well. I just had lunch here and it was all around delightful! I had the veg thali and saag paneer. The saag paneer was exceptionally delicious! The butter naan was sublime. Light and tender but with a satisfying chew. The portion size was more than generous and the prices were very good. The ambiance was relaxed, the bathroom was spotless. I inadvertently came in when they were closing for their lunch break. Dhanu (aka Thomas) was so gracious and kind and made me feel very welcome. A new Indian restaurant in my area is always good news. Let's start with the food. Overall very very good. Their mild is just a touch spicier than other places but it certainly works for me. They several curries that I have never heard of or tried. We tried the classic butter chicken which was excellent. We tried the chicken chettinadau which was very flavorful with what I believe were kafir leaves. The nans were outstanding as well as the mango lassi. The vegetable pakora has gos got to be homemade which is a first for me. Also a little spicy. I was surprised that they didn't have the classic tomato onion chutney. Wow, Mehfil is a gift! super naan from their own tandoori oven- lots of vegetarian options wait staff are spot on in that they were attentive and informative and not over bearing if you want an alcoholic beverage bring your own since they don't have a liquor license don't forget your phone as they only offer a scannable menu. DO ORDER THE IDLI! these steamed soft delicious rice lentil cakes arrive with fredh coconut chutney, a fiery sambal and tomato curry all are excellent. I ordered the Diwani Handi which was prefectly spiced and loaded with vegetables and tofu swimming in a golden curry sauce we also got a palak paneer and the aforementioned garlic naan the exceedingly accommodating staff kept bringing us small free samples of other things we had a great meal and are soooo happy to have discovered them go there, even if you never tried Indian food, it's a gem of the neighborhood and beyond read more

Our food came out in like 15 minutes, and the food was amazing. It was hot and you can tell it was fresh and the place was clean. Rock star food! Like worth a 45 min drive just to pick up an excellent biryani! Their naans were so soft and even their curries! I picked up the food. Mutton biryani (full tray), butter naan, garlic naan (2 of each) and paneer butter masala curry. All good! No complaints at all! Their naan was a shock. A good, soft, just right shock! We got takeout on a busy Friday night and it was ready in about 20 minutes. Parking lot was clean and safe and I was warmly greeted when I walked in. The lobby was classy and not tacky. The food was packaged with intention and care, which I feel is an important but overlooked aspect of getting food to go. The food smelled soooooo good. We got Cut Mirchi (spicy fried battered peppers) and it was way too spicy for me but my husband said it was delicious. The Yellow Dal Tadka (lentil soup) was my #1 favorite. It's so smooth and creamy, alone or over rice. I will be getting a double order next time! Then basmati rice included with most dishes is soft and fluffy and perfect. The garlic naan knocked it out of the park. Maybe the best garlic naan I've ever had? Veg Dum Biryani was sooo good but alas too spicy for me. My husband said the Veg Vindaloo was the best he's ever had, it was again too spicy for me. I ordered these dishes all at medium spice, and it was VERY spicy. A friend and I decided to try Indian food for the first time. We were so impressed with this restaurant! It seems like they do a lot of takeout, but we ate in. The decor is a little plain, but the booth was comfortable and everything was very clean. The server was so helpful when we were ordering. We got chicken tikka masala, chicken khorma, rice, garlic naan, and an onion salad. Everything was exceptional and they really set a high bar for other Indian food experiences! The chef even came out with samples of potential menu items for us to try... two desserts and a frothy date drink. So delicious!
