It's a local Indian restaurant located in pawtucket area. Parking lot available in the plaza. It was busy but we were able to sit down at the counter. Inside is small but has some seatings and bar available. We ordered mango lassi, pepper chicken tikka, garlic and cilantro naan, cauliflower 56, and chicken lababnar. Mango lassi is delicious as expected. Appetizers were excellent including tender pepper chicken tikka and flavorful cauliflower 56. Garlic and cilantro naan is chewy and tasty. Chicken lababnar was bit different than chicken tikka masala i'm used to. Its creamy and tomato base like tikka masala but didn't have the deep flavor that most tikka masala have. Service was good but my utensil was dirty. Waiter did quickly changed them for me though. Overall, food is good. Appetizers were excellent. Service is ok. Price is reasonable for Indian food. Haven't been here in a long time and we were due. 5 of us hit here for my birthday this year and it was a wonderful reminder of how yummy Rasoi is. Queer o meter is a perfect 10, the staff and clientele are on point. You can see by the pics we ordered everything and anything. Quite honestly there are no complaints. The portions are hefty and everything was packed with flavor. I suppose if I was grasping at straws a little more rice would've been ideal but seriously that's me digging deep for a red mark. Another delicious lunch at Rasoi. The mushroom and spinach soup is in a light broth and has a nice level of spicy heat. Greens in the spinach apple salad are fresh and a dusting of spice over the top is a very nice addition. As always, I have to get their tasty cauliflower65 appetizer! So good. Deep fried veg covered in a spicy red sauce with just enough heat and plenty of Indian spice tastiness. The waitstaff is friendly, they keep a good eye on us and our water glasses were always full. Wait to be seated by the host. A window wall at the front lets in plenty of sunlight. A large square bar is located in the center of the dining area. Restrooms at the back are clean and modern. What an amazing meal and experience! This was my first time at Rasoi, and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and attentive. Service was spot on from start to finish. We kicked things off with cocktails. I went for the Hibis-KiSS Summer Spritz, which was absolutely delicious. For appetizers, we had the potato and pea samosas, Cauliflower 65, and chicken tikki. All came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Honestly, I could come back just for those and happily demolish them all by myself. For my main entree, I took our waiter's advice and ordered the Chicken 65 Biryani. It did not disappoint! The flavor was rich without being overly spicy, and the rice was cooked perfectly. The sauce on the side added a cool, refreshing note that made each bite even more satisfying. The portion was generous. I'm already excited for my leftovers. Our party was so impressed with the food how flavorful each dish was . They not only had vegetarian options but plenty of vegan options as well . The samosas were the star of the show and I'm excited to try the other flavors available. We also commented on how no one's water glass went empty . Again showing just how attentive the staff was . We ended with a molten chocolate cake to share. I ordered the CHAITINI for a dessert cocktail . It was even better than I imagined! Rasoi is one of my favorite Indian food spots. I have been coming for years, so when several of my friends mentioned they'd never had Indian food I had to take them here. We came in with a large group last night with no reservations and they sat us quickly. We ordered several appetizers while we waited for our entire party to arrive. Everything came out quickly and was delicious. The newbies loved everything. All of our entrees were delicious, service was fast and efficient, and it was overall another consistently good experience. Standout dishes from last night were the Bengali stew, Tawa, and Okra curry. As usual the Cauliflower 65, paneer, pakora, and samosa appetizers were a hit. read more

I came to Rasoi to enjoy lunch with a coworker - the area was very busy and the parking lot was full during lunch time but Rasoi had plenty of seating around noon! We both opted for the Lunch Thali special: Nirvana. It included Chicken Tikka Lababdar, Lamb Saag, Navaratan Korma, Tadka Dal, Basmati Rice, Rogini Naan, and Kachumber Salad - a great variety! I loved the Chicken Tikka, Naan, and salad. I feel like the rice portion was a little small but once asked, they were quick to bring me some more. I reviewed Rasoi ages ago, so it's time for a post-covid update. The (already) lovely space recently had a facelift, with formerly mango colored walls now an elegant and soothing deep blue, photos of food preparations in India replaced with more contemporary wall art, and subtle, attractive lighting. The menu has remained roughly the same with some newer options (though post-lockdown prices are substantially higher). The food remains really really good, with main course portions still large enough to satisfy a hearty appetite. I do miss the dinner meals with a choice of rice or masala potatoes AND lentils. Now it's white or brown rice only (this and the steep price increases are the reason for the update to 4 stars). I'm so glad that the Saturday (vegan/vegertarian) and Sunday (mixed menu) brunches are returning! (While I do love naan, I will miss sorely the appetizer-sized dosas on Saturday though.) What seems not to have changed is the friendly and attentive service. I always feel welcomed and appreciated when dining here - water glasses are quickly topped off, menu questions from friends less familiar with Indian food are respectfully and sensitively handled, and requests for recommendations are given with a smile. I have been to Rasoi many times. But tonight was such a horrible night out that I will never return. Giving the service one star is extremely generous. The waiter was disrespectful, sexist, and arrogant to me. Just the worst service I have ever had. From the very beginning, when he took our order to when he cleared the plates. Snapping his fingers at me to hand him the dirty dish! The nerve of this patronizing person to snap his fingers at me to do his work. He never thought/cared about how his guests would feel being treated this way. This is a dehumanizing gesture meant to assert power. I am always on the hunt for good Indian food, and we found a gem tonight. The lamb samosa was really good for an appetizer. We chose mango chicken and Kofta for dinner options and they were both winners. Delicious. I'd eat 2 of each of them if my belt would allow. I was told the Mango margarita was good also. I came out of this place full and satisfied! Had some Saag, and samosas, filled with potatoes and peas along with come cauliflower 65 which is just chicken wings, but vegan! My saag was delicious and my friends enjoyed their chicken tiki masala and biryani, where we all took bites sharing~ the Biryani had kick, a bit spicy, but in my opinion mild~ mango lassi is always a must at Indian restaurant~ we were recommended some warm bread bites, soaked in a type of light sweet soup. We didn't catch the name, but it was a nice end to our already filling food. Server was funny, helpful, and gave us great recommendations, especially to my friends who were new to Indian food. Hello, I wanted to update on my review since some information is outdated. Tonight, I ordered some Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan. It was very good, however what I didn't realize was they changed their recipe for Butter Chicken. It now has cashews in it. I have an allergy to cashews as I stated previously. I ended up eating a few very bites of some tasty curry. Then my mouth started tingling, a feeling I get whenever I eat something I am not supposed to have. I knew I should have asked before I left the restaurant. My throat was starting to feel itchy. So I called the restaurant and asked, and the guy I spoke to confirms they do put cashews in the Butter Chicken. So I told him about my allergy and he was very apologetic! My fault too since I didn't ask if it contains the nuts or not. He explains to me that someone complained awhile ago about the Butter Chicken not being "authentic enough" (WTF who does this?!?!) so they reverted to their original recipe which contains the cashews. The man also explains that their tikka masala (can't remember the name for it on the menu.) but he said this does not have cashews and offered to make this for me instead. I agreed, I do feel kind of stupid for not asking and it's partial fault on whoever was a snob and complained about the dishes authenticity. I am definitely asking next time since I can't be screwing with my allergies like this. But I do notice many Indian restaurants don't say on the menu whether the Butter Chicken / Mahkni has cashews in it. There should be a disclaimer in the item description. I will say that if you have a food allergy it does not hurt to ask and you are not a jerk for asking questions. It's for your safety. The food is still very tasty and I will be back! Haven't had tandoori chicken from them in awhile. So that will be the next meal! TLDR: the Butter Chicken dish does contain cashew nuts now so be warned if you have nut allergies! read more

Rasoi transported me back India, starting with a fragrant biryani and their spicy Cauliflower 65 which was almost a melding of General Tso's chicken and south India fiery spices draped over cauliflower. We cooled down with chicken biryani that had incredibly tender chicken and aromatic rice. I can never get my chicken that tender. I believe the "65" refers to the original Chicken 65 created in the '1960s so there's a nod to culinary history in every bite.
