We changed buses at the Civic Center MARTA station, 435 W Peachtree St NW, Atlanta, GA Not much in the area. Around the corner there is a Mellow Mushroom and a place to grab a lite lunch or a coffee. Review: My brother and I rode the Megabus (in June 2018) from Dallas, TX all the way to Richmond, VA, with a bus changes in Memphis, TN and Atlanta, GA. I'm going to share the same review with those Megabus Yelp business pages. Our trip took around 36 hours. First, the bad: WiFi did not work on ANY of the three buses we rode. It's time consuming. Our journey was 36 hours end to end. Cleanliness of bathroom deteriorates rapidly as the journey wears on. I considered it "For emergency use only." There is no running water. There might have been hand sanitizer. Now the good. Inexpensive. Nothing beat it. Not Greyhound. Not Amtrak. If you have more time than money, or just want an adventure, Megabus is OK. Buses were clean. Buses have a bathroom, but it's nothing more than a chemical toilet. It was an adventure. 110 volt A/C power outlets did work on all buses. Oh, and since it was summer, there were no airline deals either. The bus stops about every 2 hours for a break. It generally stopped at a truck stop, where you could use a restroom with running water, and get something to eat. Our bus change in Memphis was long. It gave us enough time to take an Uber to Beale St. It was also at night. Neighborhood was kinda sketchy, but there was indoor waiting area with vending machines and bathrooms. There's a gas station next door that serves hot food. Our bus change in Atlanta was shorter, but it was long enough to search out some breakfast within walking distance. It was morning for this stop. Neighborhood was OK. There was no indoor waiting area and I think there were restrooms if you went in the MARTA station (below). We arrived in Richmond at night and walked to our hotel. I did not seeing any waiting area, though it is close to the (Amtrak) train station, in the Main Street Station, so there might be something there. There are waiting rooms, but I don't know the hours. https://www.yelp.com/biz/main-street-station-richmond About the bus: It's a double-decker bus. If you are prone to motion sickness, there is less sway on the bottom, but try to get toward the front, as the bathroom is in the back. Upper seats have a better view, and the roof is transparent. During the day it was quite enjoyable. There are reserved seats, and if they are available, will cost you a little extra. We only had reserved seats on one bus. Not having a reservation was not a problem. There are some sections, up and down, where the seats face each other (with a small table in the middle). So if you are a party of 3 or 4, it would be good to reserve these seats. You might want to hedge your bet, and reserve seats opposite of each other. This way you'll play footsies with someone you know, not a stranger. It seems obvious now, but the reserved seats are the ones with BIG numbers on them. Once the bus is loaded, it seems OK to move into those seats, but you don't know if they are going to be reserved for the next leg of your journey. The bus does drop off and pick up along the way, though not necessarily at all stops. Some stops are just breaks to stretch your legs, and last 10 to 20 minutes. You might want to bring an extension cord, or have a long charging cable. Sometimes the power is overhead. Brings snacks and drinks, but not alcohol, as it's not allowed. We asked a couple drivers what would happen if you were caught. The answer varied a bit, but it seems likely you will be kicked off the bus. Where you are asked to leave seems to depend on your attitude. If you need anything during the trip, bring it with you when you go to your seat. You can't access your checked bags en route. Consider bringing ear buds or plugs, and eye shades. My conclusion: It was just too many hours. Man this trip dragged on. I would consider it for shorter trips, in fact I'd like to see more of Memphis. And them maybe take a riverboat to New Orleans, and Megabus back to DFW. Bottom line: Good adventure. No problems. No regrets. The inside of the upper deck before most of the upper deck passengers had boarded

I rode the Megabus from Atlanta to Nashville (Wednesday, 8/28/2019) and back to Atlanta from Nashville (Sunday, 9/01/2019). I've heard and read so many complaints about it but my I had a good experience with Megabus. Granted, it was my first and only time using it, so take my review for what it's worth. I booked my trip online two months in advance and the round trip tickets only cost me a total of $48.50! Twelve dollars of that total was due to me reserving seat #4 (which is the front upper deck seat farthest to the right). I wanted the best view possible. The Atlanta pickup location is downtown and outside of the Civic Center MARTA transit station. It's a convenient location except there is no place to sit and wait on the bus and there are no restrooms around either. When I got there the bus was already parked and people were lining up to get on. It wasn't too crowded and departed Atlanta promptly at 7 am. I enjoyed my upper deck seat. The seat was comfortable and when the bus was moving I almost felt like I was driving the bus myself. One thing about the upper deck though is that when I was walking the aisle to get to my seat, I had to lean forward to keep my head from hitting the ceiling even though I'm only about 6 ft tall. Also, the windows could've been cleaner but they weren't that bad. The best thing about sitting up there though obviously was the view, especially the rivers, hills and mountains in Tennessee. Our only stop before we got to our final destination was in Chattanooga. Their Megabus stop was outside of the city, has a couple of benches and was close to a wooded area where a few homeless people were staying. But there is a Burger King and Waffle House nearby. On both trips the driver gave us about 25 minutes to purchase something to eat. After that, we didn't stop again until we arrived in Nashville. The drive from Atlanta to Nashville (including the stop in Chattanooga) took about 4 hours and 45 minutes. The Nashville Megabus stop is similar to the one in Atlanta because it's downtown and there is no place to sit. If it was raining you'd be exposed to the elements with no shelter. It's across the street from the Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum (not to be confused with the Country Music Hall of Fame, which is in another part of downtown). The drivers going to and coming back from Nashville were helpful and polite. When the bus stopped at the Chattanooga location on the way back, the driver walked to the Burger King just to check and see if there were any passengers still there ordering food before he left. And sure enough one rider came strolling out sipping a soda and not paying attention to the time. If he hadn't walked over there, she could have been left behind. Considering all the bad reviews it has gotten, I must have gotten lucky and hit the jackpot with my first Megabus trip. Everything ran smoothly. It was way better than Greyhound. If I'd ridden Greyhound, it would've taken forever to get to Nashville. I think I'll use Megabus for short trips to the states that border with Georgia, but I do know some people who've ridden it to New Orleans or Washington, DC and had no issues. Right now I believe the only cities in Georgia with Megabus stops are Atlanta, Athens, and Valdosta. I hope they add more Georgia locations in the future.

Picked up a friend using Mega bus, horrible experience, there is no way to know when a bus will arrive, depart, or anything. Complete lack of communication. The bus is supposed to arrive at 11PM, then I am told it is in Athens at 11PM and will arrive at midnight, it does not arrive to almost 2am. With the technology this day and age, Mega Bus needs to have GPS installed into their buses so that customers have a way to know when they can expect their bus will arrive for boarding and when family and friends know when to expect to picked up love ones. If airports and the greyhound can offer this, why can't mega bus? [Review #524] (3rd Review Of 2018)

They are cheap but you get what you pay for. The wifi barely works, customer service is nearly non-existent! I had a customer service rep hang up on me. Their service sucks. The only reason I am giving them 2 stars is because of the affordability and the few times when I actually experienced mediocre service. It's a love and hate relationship because you don't want to give them your business but they are the cheapest alternative to traveling. Greyhound is way more expensive but the wifi usually works and you actually have somewhere to sit and wait for the bus. Just remember, you get what you pay for and don't expect superior customer service, especially not over the phone!

I wish there was 0 star. Fact: April 4th, 530pm MegaBus from Columbia, SC to Atlanta. Negative service experience, many passengers been waiting here for more than 5hrs (I finally left at 10pm), been trying to call its customer service (which was just a joke) no specific answer, explanation or solution. I don't know how late the bus finally arrived, but what the passenger got were just two BS emails, one sent on 630pm noticing "2-3 hr delay"; one sent on April 5th 320am saying "we will investigate"...what they can do is just compensate the ticket value (oh, they charge seat & service fees when booking, doubt they would return this part) But how about valuable hours of wasting from the passengers and their friends and family been waiting for them? The brand management was a disaster. Gook luck if you choose taking MegaBus.

After telling driver to turn the AC down in 58 degree weather, she turned it up! Passengers are doing anything possibly to blocks vents and stay warm as our hands and toes are near frozen!! 50-9253-120218-M94R-1130-NOL-ATL Please find out the name of this driver, further actions need to be taken!!!

On February 12th I took the midnight bus from Atlanta to Orlando and to my dismay the bus was infested with bed bugs. I wanted to trying changing seats thinking maybe it was just the seat I was in but the bus was completely booked so there were no other seats. I spent the entire ride unable to sleep because I was constantly being bit through my clothes it was unbearable. This was definitely my last time ever taken the Megabus

I have used Megabus twice. Charlotte-Atlanta and Philly-DC. Both times the bus left ontime and got in early. The earlier you book the cheaper your fare. The first person to book mid to short range rides goes for $1. If you look when they first open inventory which they do every few months you can see those $1 seats and even get $1 each way if your fast! Some buses now do seat assignments for premium seats at a supplement. I think it is worth it. I tried once in a regular seat to use a laptop and gave up with the person in front reclining into my lap which made it next to impossible. When you book it will tell if you seat assignment is available on that bus. They only pre reserve the premium seats. There is a table with 4 seats. You face each other but no one lays in your lap that way. It only costs $1 and its worth it. You also have a spot to set the laptop if you use one. Then for $3 you can get the seat that has an open stairwell in front of you. Again-nobody lays in your lap. For $5 and I did this last time I got the front row upstairs with a big picture window. It makes the trip much more interesting and the time goes by much faster. Id opt for that most anytime its available. There are 4 of these front row seats. The one trip the driver was on the PA often. The second trip the driver never once got on the PA. They DONT allow extra bags. If you have more than one bag you have to get another seat, and then you get one bag per seat. This keeps the bag well from overflow. The weight limit is 50 pounds and they will weigh with a hand held scale if it looks heavy and there is a charge. So this bus is not meant to be a freight hauler or moving service be forewarned! If you attempt this anyway you will fail and be stuck with all your stuff on the street, and miss the bus on top of it! Make sure you go to the bathroom right before departure. You will be glad you did. The bus does have a restroom yes, but if you can avoid it do so! If you do have to use it DONT LOOK DOWN! So for these reasons I try not to drink much before, or on the bus. Skip that big morning coffee! The website lists the places to catch the bus and there is no sign to mark the spot. It just comes up to that spot. A few are well located but often they are in obscure places where they can find a place to pull up a bus and probably at little to no cost. Always check the website right before departure too as these spots often change. I thought it would be great to just go on day trips or a quick overnight trip anywhere so I went through the places these buses stop and almost everywhere it made the trip unadvisable. What fun is it going to an obscure mall in the far out burbs and then having to make your way back there to catch it home. There went that idea! A few cities are centrally located but many are not where you would choose to arrive if you had a choice.

Line of people waiting for the same 6:50am and 8:10am bus at around 9:36am. Do not take megabus!

Sadly, my manager decided we should go cheap and so I didn't accept their quote, went with another company on the cheap option - what a mistake! The cheap company canceled on me four hours before departure time! (I posted a review on them also, believe me!) Scrambling for alternatives, I called almost every rental car service to find that almost no vehicles were available in Atlanta. Bus and transport services were booked up. In a panic, I reached out to Georgia Coach Lines to see if their quote was still valid and if they could rescue us. The lady who answered the phone was EXTREMELY helpful and upon hearing my panic and desperate plea, she leapt into action. She said 'let me make a few phone calls and I will call you right back!' Meanwhile I was still calling other services, to no avail... Within ten minutes she called me back and said she had a driver ready, and they could do it! This company managed to get a bus to the Atlanta airport to pick up a football team on just over an hour's notice... all of this happened while the team was in the air, so they didn't even have to wait or worry. I am truly impressed with Georgia Coach Lines' fantastic customer service and professionalism. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
