When I read the press release in the AJC that Megabus was coming to Atlanta and that they go to Charlotte from here I jumped on their website and snagged two free tickets for a trip for Thanksgiving. Then I snagged two more tickets at $1 each for a trip there for Christmas. These are trips that I would probably not have made if not for this service. Knowing nothing about Megabus I did a search for "Megabus reviews" and I found plenty since this company has been in business for many years. I have to tell you I read many bad reviews about this service so I approached my trip with trepidation. I am glad to tell you that I was completely satisfied with my trip. The employees of this company were completely professional and the buses were very clean and comfortable. Their website does a good job of explaining where the bus departs from but there is no sign indicating exactly where to go. We departed on time but unfortunately there was a problem with the bus 10 minutes into our journey. Fortunately since Atlanta is a hub of theirs they had another bus out to us and we were only delayed by 10 min. The Wifi on the 2nd bus did not work, but that was fine with me, I get internet by tethering my iPhone to my laptop. The trip back was flawless and we actually arrive early. I highly recommend Megabus and look forward to my trip later this month. read more

I was hesitant to ride Megabus because of all the reviews here. Boy I don't know what people here are thinking but this is like the best bus I've used (and I've traveled around Europe). Super clean and well priced. The Atlanta to Charlotte leg will cost you roughly 22 dollars. Pay an extra dollar to go to first class and you will not regret it. First class seats are in the front of the bus and are reserved seats. No need to rush to the bus to get good seats because they are reserved for you. First class seats are also leather covered, reclinable and has an electric outlet. Before you ride the bus you show the conductor your ticket (or email you received) and proceed to your seat. Buckle up and sleep if you must. The bus drivers I've had were such a pleasure! They were very , very nice. I like how they reiterate that cleanliness is a must , most especially in the lavatory. Kudos to our driver, Mr Rowe , for encouraging this. Would I ride this again? Most definitely! read more

The customer service alone warrants 1 star, but the fact I paid $22.50 for a bus scheduled for 11 pm that frequently turns up ONE HOUR LATE is ridiculous. No refunds if course. My friend reported the same thing happened to him. The customer service woman hung up on me after 5 minutes. Said simply she couldn't see what I was seeing and gave up helping me. Now this 19 year old girl gets to arrive in downtown ATL at 1:30 am and misses her ride home. Thanks Megabus! read more

Great service and very convenient! Some of their trips are very cheap! They have wi-fi on the bus, but if you plan to watch movies, I recommend downloading them on your computer, as the speed of the Wi-Fi doesn't allow for everyone to watch videos. The drivers are great! I used Megabus quite a few times to travel to New Orleans from Atlanta! read more

We used Megabus for the first time. We drove to Athens Ga from NC to stay with one of our daughters. Since she had to work, we decided to take Megabus to Atlanta to see my other daughter. It was great! Make sure you make reservations on line and show the driver the confirmation email before you board. Also, the fee went up $20 within an hour. The pick up area in Athens was very clean. Restrooms and vending machines were available but machine was out of a couple of drink choices. Driver was excellent. Very comfy and quiet ride on the upper deck. Smokers had a chance to smoke between stops outside. Would use this ride again for short excursions. We were on time for arrival as well. read more

My Megabus experience was definitely one for the books. It wasn't horrible but it definitely wasn't smooth. I was on my way to DC for a college tour. The trip started off lovely..the bus schedule was on time & everyone was so nice. The line-up at MARTA Civic Center Train Station was kind of weird but it got taken care of. When we got to VA, it was scheduled for the buses to change out but the new bus came and ended up breaking down. Because the replacement bus was in DC, our trip was put on hold for six more hours..which made the 10 hr trip into a 16 hr one, easily. Regardless, it sure did beat the burden of me flying or driving & the bus ride back was smooth. I would ride Megabus again though. Maybe a shorter distance next time. read more

MEGABUS SCREWED ME OVER AND KEPT MY MONEY! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS AT ALL! THEY COST ME 10X THE AMOUNT I PAID FOR THE TICKET! DO NOT USE! RIDING WITH MEGABUS HAS COST ME MORE THAN $300 ON JUST 2 TRIPS. After purchasing a ticket from Atlanta to Orlando, I arrived 30mins early and stood in line to board. The bus was late 30mind before any of the staff said anything at all to the crowd. After an hour, I called customer service to find out when the bus would come. They told me to call back in 10mins and hung up on me. After waiting 10, I called back to find out that was the exact time their department closed! IT GETS WORSE Then I asked the staff when the bus would come, and he tried to fight me! Then he did it to 2 other passengers! After 2 hours, I finally had enough, told the staff members I would be leaving to take greyhound and expected a full refund for SERVICES NOT PROVIDED! I took the greyhound for $100 and missed my sisters graduation I was headed to. A few days later on my return trip, the other bus was late by almost 2 hours and caused me to miss my shift and cost me EVEN MORE MONEY! Today I called the customer service line and asked for a refund in CREDIT. I didn't ask to be reimbursed for the HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS THEY COST ME, Just the 2 trips, in megabus CREDIT (not money). They lied and told me the first bus was less than an hour late, and that the second one was on time. LIES!  They then told me all they were willing to offer was a coupon for 25% off my next trip which I would receive in a week. THERE WILL BE NO NEXT TRIP WHEN I ASKED TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR, THEY SAID NO AND HUNG UP ON ME WHILE I WAS STILL TALKING! NOBODY CARES ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS! I WILL NEVER USE AGAIN AND RECOMMEND EVERYONE FIND A DIFFERENT COMPANY BEFORE YOU GET SCREWED TOO. read more

I had 2 good experiences with MegaBus and one horrible one. Buyer beware. I had a reservation from Gainesville, FL to Atlanta. The bus was over an hour late. Unknown to several of us waiting, they sent and unmarked replacement bus. When the driver arrived, he didn't bother to tell several of us waiting on the benches at the stop what was going on. We ended up getting stranded. I called customer service and they rudely told me the replacement driver had no obligation to tell anyone anything. I asked for at least a refund, and said to send an email. I ended up losing my $29 fare and had to rebook the next day on Greyhound. Buyer beware, and if your bus is late you better check every unmarked bus that shows up. read more

I have heard good things about the Megabus until now. People say it is cost effective and comfortable. However my recent experience with the phone support was terrible. The first agent said "I will be happy to help you" 6 times during my call. Honestly, drop the script. Listen and speak. He did not help me at all. When I explained that I was running late and that I wanted to know if the bus was too, he said he did not know. He suggested I call back in 1o minutes, which would be after the scheduled departure time. When I called back the next agent informed me that I was calling after the departure time. He also advised me that if the bus was late I would have received an email or text. So it was on time. I abandoned my trip only to receive an email 40 minutes later that the bus was an hour late. read more

This by far was the worst experience ever.I have to obtain a lawyer, this company has been the most unprofessional service ever.never ever again. The driver was rude and customer service was worse. read more

You get what you pay for I suppose. Grabbed a cheap fare to Charlotte, and at the urging of Megabus.com, I arrived early. Well that was a complete waste of time, as bus boarding was complete chaos. The staff was rude and curt- perhaps they'd be better suited to ranch hand work because I felt like I was being herded like cattle. We didn't start boarding until 10 minutes after the bus was scheduled to leave. When I got on the bus, which was almost at complete capacity, people were annoyingly trying to reserve seats with handbags and carry-ons. Two stars for getting me to my destination in one piece. I'm typically a Delta girl, but maybe this is just par for the course for Megabus? Next time I'll just drive. Oh yeah - wifi didn't work. read more

Awful experience from Atlanta to Nashville. Driver pulled over on the shoulder twice with no commentary on what is wrong. We pulled off on an exit in the middle of nowhere, left a man there, and then sat in Chattanooga waiting for two hours for a new bus. We still have two hours to go before we made it to Nashville. And some folks were still travelling to Chicago. One lady even said she'd miss her interview tomorrow morning in Chicago. Nobody on this bus is happy at all. I will never use Megabus again. Ever. read more

This by far has been THE ABSOLUTE WORST MegaBus Trip. I was on the 10:10a departure bus from Nashville TN. I take issue with MegaBus today for a few reasons, one of which I fully intend to reach out to the DOT about. First of all, it is only good practice and/or good customer service to contact your PAYING customer to notify them that you are going to be late. What was the purpose of having my email address, my phone number, and having me download the MegaBus app of MegaBus wasn't going to at least text and let me; a paying customer know that the bus is running late??? Can someone help me understand that? I mean even the cable guy, the ADT tech, hell even the UBER Eats delivery guy calls or texts and lets you know they're running late. Not the case with MegaBus. In fact I had to call, as I and other passengers who arrived early to be on time For the bus WE PAID for, many elderly, stood in the sweltering southern sun and heat to find out if in deed the bus was running late. "Customer Service" after a few holds got in touch with the "GPS department" to confirm that this bus would in deed be about two hours late. Well instead of arriving at 9:45, in order to depart at 10:10a, or at the estimated 12:10p the bus arrived at 11:30a. As the driver began slinging our bags into the luggage compartment, and people were inquiring what was the ETA for their various destinations due to this tardiness, there was a general attitude of "get your @$$ on the bus and don't ask me $#*+!" No apologies for the lateness, no reassurance that we would get to our destinations as soon as safely possible just attitude. The next and probably the MOST troubling thing about this trip was for me as a professional CDL driver the various DOT violations. First of all we sped out of the Nashville TN bus stop so fast the bus could've tipped over. As we approached the on-ramp for the freeway we almost collided with a four wheel passenger vehicle. It was down hill from there. We were constantly at unsafe following distances to other vehicles, constantly experiencing very hard brakes, and in way to many near misses with semi trucks. I noticed aggressive driving patterns from this particular MegaBus driver that could've caused an accident, and caused people to be hurt or killed. As a professional CDL driver, I do understand the nuances and climate and intricacies of being on the road across state lines and dealing with several backups a day but that does not give any of us room or leave Wayne a CMV operator to be aggressive or careless or reckless in our driving. ESPECIALLY, driving a Motor coach filled with passengers. MegaBus, this level of customer service and reckless driving and safety violations is unacceptable and you can be assured that it will be reported to the DOT, the BBB, and whoever else for further investigation. You used to be, for a brief time way better than Greyhound, you are now just as bad if not worse than. Shameful. read more

Recently I was a customer on the Megabus leaving LA going to Las Vegas May 1st - May 3rd. My experience using the Megabus was horrible, for a lack of a better word. On the way to Las Vegas the bus driver was rude. She was yelling at riders, talking demeaning and made the whole experience extremely uncomfortable. I was very displeased and did not feel welcomed for something that I had spent my well hard earned money on. To follow that on the return trip I was left stranded in the dessert. As you may or may not know traffic was extremely heavy that weekend and it was very hard to get a ride from my hotel to the bus stop. I waited for an hour and a half to get a taxi until I had to give up and get in a car with a bunch of strangers so that I can make the bus. After getting my luggage out the car I saw the bus pull off, I waved the bus down with hopes that the bus would not leave me stranded in the middle of the dessert to my surprise and dismays not only did the bus driver leave me but he also taunted me by waving back at me and pointing at his wrist while he drove by. By the grace of God I was able to rent a car on one of the busiest weekends in Vegas but I was extremely shocked and disgusted with my Megabus experience. read more

The customer service is horrible. If a bus comes early or u miss it you can't switch it to a different bus route. It's a easy way to make money. It's no bus station so your on hold forever just to realize your not getting any money back. Yes it's cheap tickets but it should be a set time. Not they come when they get ready read more

Despite the many negative reviews, I decided to purchase a round trip bus ticket from Atlanta, GA to Columbia, SC. My bus reservation was canceled the day of my intended trip, which of course is a huge inconvenience. Even worse, the email cited "weather concerns" as the reason, even though the weather is perfectly fine in both areas. I did receive a timely refund, which is why i gave them 2 stars. read more

I know on the website, tickets are non-refundable but my boyfriend had a nightmare of a time trying to transfer his ticket to same day bus change. He missed the bus (things happen and BTW, we found way cheaper prices for better...way cheaper :) Atlanta offers same day bus change BUT they were not even going to tell him if any seats were available for the later bus time. basically told him to show up and he could get on because he paid for a ticket to Atlanta to Baltimore already. Well, after calling back twice to say, that doesn't even make sense, he can't assume seats are available because he needed to get back home today, he gave them a sob story and that's when they said "well sir, no seats are available for the 6:30pm bus time." Lost money, that clearly wasn't worth it but should make it easier to do same day bus change AT LEAST if there is no refunds. But now that we don't need to use megabus because we found something better to travel by Atlanta to Baltimore for our long distance relationship, just be there early to catch the bus if you're going to use them but look around for way better pricing. It's possible. read more

This has to be the worst travel service ever. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Take greyhound take anything but. The bus that showed up wasn't even a megabus. It had no chargers no WiFi. But that wasn't really the worst part. So upon arrival no one informed us we were at our stop naturally you would think they would make an announcement loud enough or I don't know check to see if everyone was off they bus. so we drove 40 minutes pass the stop and 40 minutes back so of course they just throw your bags off the bus on the sidewalk and walk away. so freaking out I ask the driver to please contact the check in person. She informed me she had no contact to anyone with the company or at the check in areas. Wow. So now of course my luggage was not there. No one knows what happened to it. Now to the phone. Every call was I will contact the buses. Why? they threw it off so of course it's not going to be on there. Can't get a refund for this horrible service. No matter what no refunds. This company is just out to get your money. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR SERVICES. They just want your money. I have no luggage, I'm in a city I don't know with nothing and they want me to write an email. Horrible horrible horrible. read more

The stop in Atlanta puts you six blocks from the center of the city's rather brutalist downtown, Peachtree Center. Megabus' schedule may mean you may have to spend some time there. If you're unlucky, you may have to overnight depending on where you're arriving from and departing to. I suppose for that God invented Greyhound. Don't count on a 15-minute window between arrival and departure. You'll miss your bus. Between the rain, downtown traffic, and the bus driver's unfamiliarity with Atlanta, ours was an hour late. There's a Hooter's, Hard Rock Cafe, 24-hour CVS, and a mediocre food court in the Peachtree Center mall downtown so all your wants and needs are covered. There's a visitors bureau kiosk with maps and a friendly info person if you're looking for stuff to do. The CNN Center is within walking distance which gives free tours between 9 and 5. If you're trying to kill time, read your email, get something fast to eat or drink that won't take years off your life, there's a Starbucks at 228 Peachtree St., NE. in the America's Mart building next to Wells Fargo that opens at 5:30 am with electrical outlets in the front. Keep on going and there's a Night Hawks-style 24-hour diner called the Landmark on Luckie Street. There are drink and snack vending machine if you descend to the subway at the Megabus stop. Usually there's a guy trolling the aisles before departure selling snacks and on New Year's Day, pregnancy tests (everyone's a comedian!). Buses are usually filled to capacity during peak travel such as holidays. The MARTA cop who came to open up the station barrier at 5 am asked me if I was riding on Megabus. I said yes and that was it. Given that there was someone sleeping on the ledge a stone's throw away from me, I don't know why he bothered. Maybe it was the beard. There are panhandlers around but they aren't aggressive. For all their advertising WiFi as a feature, it's really slow and erratic but given that only Greyhound Express buses have outlets and WiFi, it's better than nothing. Outlets sometime work and sometimes don't. Generally, Megabus passengers are well-behaved and don't play music loud on their headphones, chat incessantly on their cell phones, etc. Occasionally you will get what David Letterman used to call the "screaming baby" express. read more

Worst experience on this bus! It's 95 outside and the air doesn't WORK it's hot as hell!! Why would they let someone drive a bus with no air!!! It stinks!! Bus driver was 2 hours late they told us nothing! If I would of known about this air conditioning situation I wouldn't of took this bus for free. NEVER AGAIN read more

First of all no damn outlets worked on the bus trip from Chicago to Atlanta...a9-10 hour ride in a car...14 on the bus. First of all the bus did leave on time and still arrived 2 hours late....then bus was kind of empty and the driver OMG did under the speed limit I'm like dude can you speed up a little. He did charge my phone because his seat was the only one that could charge a phone. However, when we changed drivers in TN somewhere, this is where all hell comes in The lady bus driver took her time walking over to the bus because she was so busy what was going on on her phone...I'm like ugh damn get off the phone so we can go. She kept the bus so damn cold I'm literally wrapped up like a damn cocoon on the bus....let some ppl off in Chattanooga TN and we asked can we go to the gas station right quick she said yeh. So about 7 of us quickly walk to the station, buy our stuff and it was me and another passenger we pay for our stuff and quickly head back out the door. We make it just past the damn gate and wth the bus driver pulling off... we like whoa whoa...so she stops the bus and yell up to get in on the back of the bus...I'm like really bitch you was gonna leave us...then the lady upstairs was like we told her you wasn't back yet but somehow she didn't hear her....so yeh I had a stank attitude for the remainder of the trip and felt like I was in a meat cooler..you need a damn quilt because small lightweight 1.99 blankets from wal mart don't work.however had the damn outlets worked this review may have gotten 3 stars. read more

After my experience with greyhound and their late buses, rude staff and poor conditions I am giving megabus 5 stars!!!! Bus arrived early, left on time, staff was polite, patient and helpful. Even the driver was polite to passengers! Only downside is the wifi and the seats you book don't matter, just find an empty seat. I will never be riding with greyhound as long as megabus is still in business!!!!! read more

The price is UN-believable! The Bus is very clean and VERY COLD so the germs are froze.LOL! Cant believe the bathroom when I had to go.I was a little un sure what I would see and smell. But it was very clean. WOW MEGA BUS ! I love MEGA BUS! I love it that someone else can drive with experience and I'm not afraid to go to sleep. The drivers all seem to be very good drivers especially Mr. Wayman. This is my first and probably last Megabus ride. I took the 11:59 pm bus from Atlanta to Orlando and I'm praying I survive this trip. It smells like weed, I didn't realize the top level would have such narrow seats and NO A/C! The lower level seats are bigger and they do have a/c. I climbed over my seat mate and managed to get to the bus driver, dodging feet, arms, suitcases on the way, and asked about the air. The driver acted like he didn't understand me and then he said "I'll try to fix the air" but he didn't and it is stifling up here. I guess it's true you get what you pay for. The price was $25. There was a power outlet at the seat. My seat mate was nice. But the weed and no air are making me sick. read more

My wife and I were planning on driving from Atlanta to New Orleans for our 40th anniversary when I saw something about Megabus. When I looked into it, I found our tickets would be less than it would cost me for gas to drive it, I could binge watch the whole way down, and the time penalty was only about an hour over driving. It was a no brainer! The Atlanta bus stop was outside at the Civic Center MARTA station with no bathrooms or seating. Weather was nice, so that wasn't too bad. The bus was clean and looked well taken care of. Based on what I read on line, I booked the front right seats on the upper level, so we had an AWESOME view. The seats were kind of like bulkheads on a plane, so the legroom was rather limited and there wasn't much room for our bags. Carry on bag limitations were pretty vague on their web site, saying something like "the carry on bags you can carry on an airplane won't fit on the bus". That was REALLY helpful. The seats were very similar to those in coach on a plane, so think the bag that will fit under the seat in front of you. The window seat had a thing that came about six inches out from the wall and about six inches up from the floor, further limiting that seat's leg room. We pulled out right on time, so far, so good! Stuff happens. Tires go flat, engines overheat, air conditioners fail. It happens to all companies. You can tell the good companies from the bad ones by how they respond when stuff happens. This is a BAD company! About two and a half hours out of Atlanta (about 25 miles from Montgomery) our driver pulled over and informed us we had a flat tire. He got permission to drive across the interstate into a truck stop. We got an email from Megabus saying "It is our policy to dispatch a replacement bus, and to summon roadside assistance to get you back on the road as soon as possible." Apparently, they don't follow their own policy. If they had we would have been a little over 2.5 hours late. Actually we were 6.5 hours late. About 2 hours after the flat, a roadside assistance truck showed up. An hour later (after he took the wheel off the bus, replaced the tire, took the new tire off and put the flat tire back on) the driver informed us they had the wrong size tire. The driver told us a bus had been dispatched from Atlanta and should be there in a couple of hours or maybe a little more. So instead of the 2.5 hours late we should have been, we're now up to about 5.5 hours. About 5.5 hours after the flat, we saw another Megabus arriving. Things were looking up! Then we realized the bus was full of passengers. This was the bus going from New Orleans to Atlanta. The bus driver said the people heading for Atlanta were going to get off the bus and wait for the replacement bus and we would take their bus. Everyone off both buses. All bags off both buses. Then they decided they didn't want to do that. All the Atlanta bound passengers reboarded their bus and left us standing with our bags in the truck stop parking lot. The bus driver said that the replacement bus was on the way and should be there in the next half hour and he knew the name of the driver (I'm not sure the significance of that). An hour later (six and a half hours after we had the flat) the replacement bus finally arrived and we were on our way to New Orleans. Just to rub a little salt into the wound, they asked if we wanted to stop in Evergreen for a meal stop. The passengers gave a resounding "NO! Get us to New Orleans". After a couple of minutes the driver came back on and said "You have been overridden. The drivers are hungry." Instead of getting in at 7:30 when we were supposed to, or 10:00 when we should have gotten in if they followed their policy, we arrived at 2:00 am. In the paragraph above, all of the information provided by the bus driver was only given to us after we asked him. Other than telling us we had a flat, to get off the bus so they could fix the flat when the road service truck arrived, to get off the bus when the Atlanta bound bus arrived, and get on the bus when the replacement bus arrived, there were no status updates to all of the passengers. He would let you know what was going on if you asked him, but there were no updates to the passengers as a group. The terminal in New Orleans was in the Amtrack/Trailways terminal, so it was much better than Atlanta. The return trip was uneventful. We left on time and arrived about an hour late, which isn't bad. If the trip down had matched the return trip, they would be receiving 5 stars. I guess the lesson here is reward versus risk. The fare is an EXCELLENT deal. It cost less than the gas would have cost me to drive down, not to mention wear and tear on the car, parking in New Orleans, and wear and tear on the driver. 99.9% of the time nothing will go wrong and you will get to you destination in a reasonable time. If you happen to be on that one in a thousand buses that has a problem, don't count read more

We will NEVER use MegaBus again!! We we're supposed to go to Memphis late last night and without any knowledge to us at the time, they switch buses at the last min and we missed the bus while we were sitting in the car right there at the stop!!! We were looking for the MegaBus as we have taken it before....not American Coach!! It's funny because we seen that bus but did not realize that they switched buses and that American Coach was going to Memphis instead. When I went to the MB site, it stated it was Delayed!! Nowhere did it mentioned they switched buses but a worker soon told us they sent an email, like WTF!!! They sent an email 10 something at night, an hr or 45mins before our bus was to depart!! Called Customer Services - 1 877-462-6342 and these miserable women were rude and kept hanging up including the "Supervisor" and mention they couldn't give a refund! They dropped the ball and we couldn't get a refund?!?! I didn't want to have to reserve another bus trip for a $7 booking fee when it was they're fault, plus it was nothing else available until Sat night to go to Memphis and we were planning to come back to ATL Sun morning....like what sense does that make? I'll be sure to report this and we will NEVER use them again. I will be disputing with my bank so I will be getting my money back :-) I believe in KARMA so I'm not worried ;-) things always comes back on companies & people who are unfair, rude, and scammers. Megabus is very cheap. That is the good part about it. As long as you know when you will be leaving, it is a good way to get to the cities that you plan to go to. Having said that, the cities generally have to be pretty large, and route planning can be a real hassle if you don't have a route that goes specifically from your city to the city you are traveling to. For instance, I live in Atlanta, and there is no way to look up a direct route to New York. You have to guess which routes will be the closest to you and try to come up with the cheapest and/or shortest route. Those things would not have bothered me very much. The reason that I only gave Megabus two stars is because they have terrible customer service. If you have to reroute, you will have to write an email, buy another ticket, and just hope that they will refund you. I got a response saying that they would refund me two months after the trip. I have also had to just eat the ticket costs a few times because I didn't give them enough advance warning, which is understandable. My biggest problem is the lost and found. My call goes to a call center, in which the people really don't have a way to help you. I lost my ipad, and every time I have called, they tell me "I will report it to dispatch." Ok, where is dispatch, and why aren't there any numbers to call the Megabus center in Atlanta? The hold times are terrible, and I don't think there has been any effort made to locate my ipad. I guess it is just me, but I have had some bad dealings with Megabus. I still haven't found my ipad. I wouldn't tell anyone not to take Megabus, but I would caution them to be a lot more careful than I was. read more

If I could give one star I would! Granted the price is a great deal but when the bus arrives 2 hours late and leaves your daughter standing in a "downtown" area at night and gives no real reason to passengers for the tardiness I find that unacceptable. That was for her trip Nashville to Atlanta last Friday night. Which required us having to be downtown Atlanta at 2:45am to pick her up. Right now she is waiting for the "4:10" bus Atlanta to Nashville and has been advised it "should" be there in 30-45 minutes. Once again 2 hours late! I have called twice to attempt to get some information and they don't really know anything. Not sure what has happened to Megabus recently but I am hearing many more complaints like this. So if you want a good deal and don't mind the inconvenience of not knowing when you will depart or arrive then go ahead with Megabus! read more

Absolutely the WORST service ever! Got there at 6:45 for a bus that was suppose to leave at 7:15 only for the bus NOT TO SHOW UP UNTIL 4 HOURS LATER! To make things worse there was suppose to be a bus that left at 6:30 but at 9:30 those ppl were still there waiting for their bus. Ridiculous. This is the second time megabus Atlanta has done this. They are terrible and will never get any of my money again. read more

I had flown into Houston, Texas for the Christmas break but also wanted to visit a friend in Dallas so taking a bus was more cost-effective for me. It was a smooth ride to and back from Dallas. I love that they keep to time, they leave on time and arrive on time. They don't stop for anything since there is a loo on the bus. However, I don't think they wipe down the bus after each trip. The floor felt sticky and I could see a smear on the backseat where I sat. In light of the pandemic, they need to make sure they clean the busses regularly. read more

When I give ratings, I don't compare one star hotels to five diamond resorts. My ratings take into account what the service or place offers and how good of a job it does. I took a Megabus from Washington, D.C. to Athens, Georgia and thought everybody did a great job. The bus was three hours late getting into Athens, but that wasn't Megabus's fault. The traffic was at a standstill several times on I-95 and I-85. There was nothing the drivers could do about that. I have an old-guy prostate, so I used the bathroom after a couple of hours. It was just fine. By the time we were out of Charleston, it was a gross mess. Megabus can't supply janitorial service enroute. It would be nice if the passengers would take more care. Be aware that Megabus does not have physical facilities at the stops. That's why it is so cheap, y'all. The Richmond stop was under a bridge. There was a guy on the sidewalk selling cold drinks out of an ice chest. The Durham stop was at the city's public transportation facility. There were bathrooms and vending machines, but I suspect it's closed in the middle of the night. Charleston's stop was in the middle of an empty field. Athens's stop is at the city's public transportation facility and it was closed when we arrived. We did stop for fifteen minutes at a truck stop, so I bought a cold sandwich there. We got a new driver there, and I loved him. He explained that for safety reasons, we needed to keep conversations low. We hand't been going long when he used the public address system and said, "The female down below needs to quiet down." A few minutes later, he said it again, and again explained it was for safety reasons. A few minutes later he pulled into a rest station, called dispatch, then told the woman she would be dismissed from the bus if she didn't comply. After a short discussion, she did. I LOVED that guy. I sat on the front row of the upper deck. Great view, but there was no way to stretch legs. I mean, you got a foot of leg room. I'm six -one, so it was pretty rough for a while, but I eventually figured out how to handle the tight fit. When I use it again, I will try to get the aisle seat on the "balcony" row. No one in front of you and you can stretch a leg out into the aisle. LISTEN - there is NO room for carry-on bags any bigger than a brief case, like they say. They are not kidding with that. I had a small cloth bag and even that was difficult to deal with in the tight space. Forget the wifi. It was useless. The bottom line is, you are not paying much for this service. Don't overexpect. Plan on delays because Megabus can't control traffic conditions. Plan on gross bathrooms because when you have several dozen people in a confined place, some of them will be ill-trained for polite society. Enjoy the trip! read more

I recently rode with Megabus from Birmingham to Atlanta on a Thursday trip-- 2:30pm departure and 6:35 arrival. The bus arrived actually ahead of schedule at 6:25, despite a 5 min late departure from Birmingham. For $19 a ticket it is what you would expect-- garbage left on the seats and a little bit crowded, but an easy option for someone not wanting to make the drive into Atlanta traffic. read more

I have been taking megabus for a while now and have never had a particularly pleasant experience. While they are typically late, my last trip that I payed $30 for was an HOUR LATE. After waiting for 40 minutes in Athens, GA I had to abandon the bus stop and take an alternate source of transportation to Atlanta, where I proceeded to miss my flight and lose even more money all due to the tardiness of the megabus. When I emailed customer service they confirmed that the bus had shown up an hour after its scheduled arrival and then followed with saying that they would not be refunding my ticket. Forget about megabus, take a Groome. Its $10 more but reliable and trustworthy. read more

I didn't want to have to reserve another bus trip for a $7 booking fee when it was there fault, plus it was nothing else available until Sat night to go to Memphis and we were planning to come back to ATL Sun morning....like what sense does that make? I'll be sure to report this and we will NEVER use them again. I will be disputing with my bank so I will be getting my money back :-) I believe in KARMA so I'm not worried ;-) things always comes back on companies & people who are unfair, rude, and scammers. Y'all enjoy! #TeamGreyHound read more

I just boarded Megabus from Atlanta to Richmond, VA. I handed my baggage to handler. When I sit in bus, realize my meds I desperately need, where not in my pocket but in my bag. Went outside to try a get med , I AM A TOTALLY DISABLED AMERICAN VETERAN whom will NEED that meds before this 12-hour ends. The two handlers told me I could not have my bag even though the bag was sitting alone, no bags around it, 5-7 feet away from handler. They told me NO. As I walked away to board bus, one said, "if you get it, will have to take bag with you." I snatched the bag out of handlers hand. Went to board bus again. One handler said, "did he snatch his bag." He called another boarder-help-lady. She followed me onto the bus, and told me to remove my bag from an area to right , behind driver, which TWO other driver's on other Megabus trips told me were spare baggage areas. Told me it hand to go under my sit. All of this was completed unnecessary and full of "I'm-in-charge-ignorance." This bus is 25-30% with seem to less luggage in baggage. It took me SEVEN SECONDS TO GET MEDS OUT OF BAG. I will never ride this bus again for any reason, any day, anytime. I retired from the retail business (before age-50) BECAUSE I felt every customer contributed in paying my salary and every current get my total respect WITHOUT asking or deserving it. When I do not receive that type of service when spending my money. I NEVER USE THAT SERVICE AGAIN!! The driver, Pauline, she gets the 5-Star Rating. read more

After spending all day dealing with Greyhound and their awful business model I finally just spent the extra money and went with Megabus. I can't recommend it enough! read more

I love the Mega Bus my job is out of Charlotte, but I live in Atlanta. Since they started making trips between the two cities I've been on that bus. It's a no frills straight shot ride with WiFi and a bathroom. You can't imagine the savings I have occurred over just the last four months. If you book your trips way inadvance you will get significantly reduced pricing even $1 dollar (yeah I've paid it a couple of times). For me It's not only a great alternative its the only way I'll go between the two cities and its only a 4 hour drive (I drive it in 3 an a half) so its not even a big difference in time. read more

I took Megabus last Thursday from Atlanta to Memphis. I returned on Saturday. My return trip was delayed because the bus coming to Memphis had mechanical problems. Something to do about a door wouldn't close. I was delayed 2 1/2 hours. MegaBus sent me an email 30 minutes before my scheduled departure. They apologized for the inconvenience due to the delay. They informed me that they were refunding me my money and giving me a FREE roundtrip ticket. My money was back in my account by Tuesday!! This trip only cost me $2.50 with a $1.00 coming back. This company is doing everything to make sure their customers are satisfied. It was amazing to me that they offered the refund and free ticket. I didn't have to do anything. A great company that is giving Greyhound not only a run for their money but causing them to raise their standards! Good job, Megabus!!! read more
